Loki's pov

I slit the throat of one of the humans who tried to kill Dad. Blood soaked through the leather tunic I wore. It's been five years since I was sold. When I was delivered to the merchant, I was beaten. Pummeled until I just gave up. Dad saved me from the cruel merchant, so I protect him since he rescued me.

I remember being forced into dragon fights, but I don't remember what happened to me after the dragon fights. It's a large void in my memories. I could tell it was peaceful and happy though. Ever since I started protecting Dad, my life has been good.

Recently, Dad's brother and subordinates turned on him. Dad grew attached to dragons, even saving them from traps when we come across them.

I get fed daily, I get clean clothes, Dad taught me to speak human tongue properly, he even taught me to play Maces and Talons, and taught me to fight. Dad even gave me an age. He said I was ten years old. He's the only one who calls me by my name; anyone else get burned with my fire.

"Loki. Come, let's discard those nasty clothes and get you cleaned up."

I followed Dad into his tent. He handed me a black, leather tunic with a bright yellow belt. After I put it on, Dad held a freshly polished silver dagger.

"Turn around now."

I did so. He cut slits in the back of the tunic for my large black wings and a lower one for my tail. I stretched my wings to their fullest wingspan.

"Loki. I wave some guests coming in a few minutes. I want you to hide and watch over the meeting in case they try anything. Understood?"

"Yes Dad."

I followed Dad to an outside table and hid in a tree. I could see five dragons flying toward us.

"Dad. Zippleback, Nightmare, Nadder, Gronkle, and Nightfury to the East. Approximated arrival five minutes."

"Good. Stay hidden and stay silent. These people have dragons on their side."

Dragons? Teaming up with humans? I'll believe it when I see it. The dragons soon landed close to Dad's table set up. Maces and Talons pieces shook slightly from the dragons landing.

"Viggo."

"Hiccup, welcome. I'm sure we can achieve to a common goal here."

"I came Viggo, explain why you called us here."

"Well, Hiccup. I came across the most extraordinary creature five years ago. He made me realise the wonder of dragons, you lot seem so well acquainted with. My brother did not share this sentiment. He had all my men turn on me. Luckily, my new companion fought alongside me and traveled with me for the last four years."

"Yeah, why should we believe a single word you say?"

"Not a single thing. I have nothing to prove my sincerity except for the lack of dragon cages around my campsite."

"That's a load of -"

I threw a ball of fire at the bulky, black haired guy's feet. They all looked to where I hid, only to be met with my growling.

"Viggo, you have a dragon?"

"No, not yet at least. You can come down now."

I jumped off the branch. I dug my claws into the tree to slow my descent to the ground. I dropped to all fours, growling heavily at the group of six people. I crawled my way to crouch behind Dad's chair.

"Loki, calm yourself."

"What did you do to him?!"

Smoke drifted from my nose and from between my teeth.

"I did nothing Hiccup. I rescued him from a merchant. He is my self proclaimed bodyguard. In a way, he's also my son. Not by blood of course. I raised him for the past five years. He even refers to me as his dad."

I blushed bright red. He didn't need need to tell them that. I smacked his head with the wing closest to him.

"Apologies Loki. He's a little embarrassed.

I huffed at him and flew back into the tree. It was time for me to do the perimeter check.

"Dad, I'm going to check the perimeter. You good on your own?"

"I'll be fine Loki. Be safe."

"Kay."

"Let Astrid join you."

I looked to Dad. He nodded to me.

I returned the nod to "Hiccup" and the tough looking blonde female hopped onto the Deadly Nadder. I started flying around the island. The Astrid girl followed, observing the area.

"He's not a bad guy."

"What?"

"Dad, I know he was a bad guy in the past, but for as long as I've been with him, he's helped dragons and raised me with a gentle hand."

"Old habits are hard to break."

Don't I know it. I nose dived into the ocean reemerging with a fish in my mouth. I held a fat fish in both my hands for the Nadder.

"Thank you Little Loki."

I nodded and sat behind Astrid to eat my fish. blood soaked through my new tunic quickly. I snapped my head to the ocean. A fleet of dragon hunter ships were coming closer to the island. I growled and flew up.

"Go back to Dad and tell him of those bad people."

I spoke to the Nadder directly instead of Astrid, knowing she wouldn't have done so. The Nadder took off, back toward camp. I flew just above the water, out of the ship's line of sight. I snuck aboard by burning a hole through the bottom of the boat. Thankfully there were no dragons in the cages, but that confused me.

"Looking for something?"

I spun around and met a blunt object.

<~>

Stormfly reached the campsite quickly. She let the other dragons know what was going on. The dragons quickly got their riders to started flying to the fleet. Stormfly even allowed Viggo to climb on her back.

<~>

I sat in a dragon proof cage. Arms bound behind my back, and my legs tied together.

'Still nothing to say freak?"

I spat fire at the disgusting human, growling. I had a busted lip, a broken arm, and a wide gash right under my left eye. The human was trying to get information out of me. Information about Dad and about the Dragon Riders. I haven't even known them long enough to get any useful information.

Dad will come for me, it's only a matter of time. Speak of the devil, I could hear beating wings coming closer to the boats. I snickered, but it soon turned into loud laughter.

"What's so funny freak?!"

"My Dad is coming."

I continued laughing, but was coughing up bile when he kicked me in the gut. Soon, shouting could be heard from each of the ships. He looked at my mocking smirk before he ran above deck. I Heard clashed of swords, axes, maces, claws, arrows. I didn't regret being away from all that action. The gash on my cheek wasn't bleeding heavily anymore, but the kick to my stomach made the rocking boat enhance my nausea.

"Loki!"

I looked up to see Dad and a blurry person behind him.

"Dad, my stomach hurts."

"I bet. Let's get you off this boat."

"I didn't find any dragons."

"They were on a different boat. You did good, son."

"When we get home, I want fish. And a bath. And fire. And -"

"You'll get everything you want when we return home."

"How did negotiation go?"

"Better than I could've hoped for. Rest now. I've got you."

I let my body go limp in Dad's arms.

"Hiccup, cut his bindings."

Heat passed by my wrists and legs. I sighed in comfort, wanting more of that delicious heat. I curled in on myself in Dad's arms, finally going to sleep.
