Chapter 3

Armed with a protective orb, Salem was ready to defend his home, and  life if need be. He couldn't believe anyone could make it through the barrier, or even the massive rocks surrounding the waterfall. He wasn't afraid, just very curious as to who was in his private home. He got closer and could hear the voice of a female. He rounded the corner ,and stepped into his dungeon room. There he saw his beloved dragon and a strange yet attractive woman. He stepped closer into the room before he let his presence be known to them.

"Kadrid it's good to see you home. I see you've brought a friend with you, please introduce us?"

The dragon raised one eye brow in bewilderment at the warlock before doing as he wished.

"Salem the vampire warlock, this is my friend Pandora, she's a hybrid witch."

Kadrid waited to see what her warlock would do, she hadn't brought another creature in the dungeon before. She really wanted him to meet her, the witch reminded her of Salem often. She thought if given the chance those two would become friends. She half expected her warlock to be angry with her but he wasn't even irritated. That was a good sign.

Pandora responded with a soft polite hello, greeting him for the first time, she wondered about more than just his name. Her bright positive aura shining in a circle around her, make him all the more curious too. He couldn't help it he just gazed at her, something about her made him want to know a little about her. He was also still amazed that his obedient dragon brought home a friend. Had he not been so captivated by the witch, he might have been upset with Kadrid.

Pandora was an attractive sorceress, her skin reminded him of an antique porcelain doll. Her hair was a gorgeous honey brown, thick curls dropped down her shoulders in a perfect balance. Her eyes were a shade of iced lavender he had never seen before. He wanted to know more about this intoxicating sorceress. He gave a soft smile when he gazed upon her. He was kind, polite sweet and completely charming. It was hard to believe he was a half vampire. Excusing himself for just a moment he went into the small kitchen to make gargoyle coffee. He was gone less than ten minutes. He returned walking in with a small metal container and two mugs. He poured one cup for her, then himself. He took a long sip from his mug and looked at his guest.

"What brings you to visit us?" Salem asked with a little more blunt force then he had intended.

"Kadrid knows that I'm the only witch in my small town, Scarlett's Isle. I wanted to meet others like me." Phoebe replied, batting her eyelashes slightly as she sipped the brew.

"If there aren't others like you how do you know you're a sorceress?" Salem asked in response she flicked her wrist just right and a silver glittery lightning bolt shot from her hand, whizzing passed him

Yes, I'm glad to meet you as well." She replied sipping at the drink. He then offered for her to sit with him at a small table. The two of them sat together and he poured another cup for her. They began to discuss different magical workings, what herbs were best for certain needs. After a while they began to discuss random elemental creatures when he turned around to include her  in the conversation. He didn't want to hurt her feelings by ignoring her. He loved the dragon like family.

Kadrid stayed making small talk for about fifteen minutes before excusing herself to find a nice spot to rest. It wasn't that she was tired, the real reason behind it was she wanted to give the two of them time alone to talk. She exited the dungeon and went a few yards from the waterfall.

Once Kadrid had left their dungeon for some well deserved rest, Salem smiled a little more than usual. He thought maybe it would be nice to have another person around who was at least semi- fluent in the ways of a magical life. Even just another to compare notes with wouldn't be so bad. He sipped at his coffee, not sure what to say to her. There were a thousand questions he wanted to ask, but he didn't know where to start. As they finished the coffee, he offered her some of his favorite wine, made by earth pixies. Her eyes lit up a moment.

"Yes, that sounds great." She replied softly.

"Go on and make yourself at home, I'll return in a moment with the bottle."

"It sounds great to me." She responded, looking around the dungeon. It was interesting, the books and cobblestone walls were charming. She could see why he spent time in here. It had a magical pull to any witch or warlock. After a few minutes she heard him returning. He brought a large bottle of wine and two of his finest glasses for them. Then sat down with her at his small wooden table, pouring a glass for her then one for him. The two sipped at the wine for a long moment in silence. Phoebe had read the tension in his eyes, so she politely began the conversation for him.

"Shall we have a toast to new friends?" Phoebe suggested with a wink of the eye.

"Yes, of course, to new friends." He raised his glass and she did the same.

She blushed slightly as she sipped at the wine. She was glad that she did as the dragon suggested. Salem seemed like a rather intriguing warlock. She then wondered exactly how potent earth pixie wine could be. She felt a little strange when she spoke to the hybrid warlock. Had she known him before? She wondered to herself. It could be possible. Strange things happen all the time, call it what you will. She sipped a little more wine and just looked into his soft and tender eyes.

"Pandora tell me what is your preferred method of magic?" He asked hoping to get a conversation going.

"I'd have to say spells, I love to write them, cast them so that's my favorite." She replied after taking a few minutes to think about it.

" "I like spells, but my true passion is potions and herbs." Salem told her.

"I like potions but I'm no good at it. Mine tend to backfire on me." She admitted to him.

"I could offer my assistance if you'd like some help." Salem told her.

"I would like that very much." She responded.

She was having a wonderful time and soon the wine and the conversation were flowing in perfect harmony. Time seemed to fly past them like vampire bats in the night. They talked for a few hours, then he excused himself to get another bottle of wine for the two of them. Kadrid had been right maybe he did need another's company. It was interesting to him how well they seemed to bond like kindred spirits, or known souls reuniting after life times apart.
