chapter 28

chapter 28 the enchanted escape

The three of them retraced Salem's steps back through the gigantic mountain. It was a long and difficult way back through the inside of the mountain, but the dragon was exstatic that her good friend was found and safe. She was also happy that finally after a long trecherous journey they were finally going home. She walked a few feet behind the other two, giving them a chance to catch up and talk. She knew her warlock was in love with the sorceress, she could see it in his eyes. Kadrid was pleased to see both of them so happy together. She liked to watch over the two of them. The three of them had made it up the winding tunnels, completley out of breath. They rested for only a moment, long enough to catch their breath.

"I know we're all drop dead tired but we really need to get out of this mountain before nightfall." He encouraged the other two.

The dragon and the sorceress got up and walked a little faster than before. They both knew that he was right. They knew they needed to get out of there as soon as possible. Salem grinned with pride. His little pep talk had helped get them moving. He wanted to get home soon, almost as much as the dragon. It had taken them only a couple of hours to get out of the mountain. The dragon was more than relieved when they reached the outside of the mountain. The three of them headed down the mountain within a few minutes they heard something, a faint sound in the distance. The sound of footsteps running grew closer to them.

"Pandora, no! You must stop, please!" He shouted rewpeatedly until he caught up to them.

Salem's curiosity got the best of him. He wanted to know what this whole mess was about. He stopped and waited to see what was going on.

"You must wait please." He pleaded with them.

"Why should we listen to you? A kidnapper." Barked the dragon.

"If you'll permit me to explain. I mean no real harm." He begged, half afraid the dragon would eat him if he said something wrong.

Kadrid simply rolled her eyes at the demonic creature.

"Okay, I'm known to be a reasonable dragon. Why did you steal my friend?" She growled, ready to pounce at a moment's notice.

"I was hired to do so. If I fail, I must return to the underworld to endure never ending torture." He explained as quickly as possible.

"Do you know why they wanted Pandora?" Inquired the dragon.

"They don't want her, they want Salem." He replied.

"Who wants me?" Spoke up the warlock.

"I don't think you're going to like it." Braydin replied, sensing the emotions coming from the warlock.

"Tell me what you know, now." He growled the words at the demon like a hungry rabid pack animal.

"The one who hunts for you is your father. He didn't say why." The half demon blurted out.

The warlock fell silent, taking a step back as shock set in. He begame dizzy and then collaped to the ground. The thought of his father had made him faint.
