chapter 25
chapter 25 another portal shift
Once they had made it through and adjusted to the portal shift, the dragon looked around to see what forest they had been flung into. She had felt a little disoriented, it happened during the last portal they had gone through. The effects only lasted a few minutes but each time it seemed to weaken her a lttle more. She hadn't said much to the warlock about it. His mind had enough things to worry over, he didn't need to be concerned with her as well. He had a habit of fussing over her more than she cared for. After a good five minutes the disoriented feeling had finally left her. She looked around to see that the two of them were just outside of an unfamilar cave, overlooking a large forest like jungle. The surrounding trees were massive, the leaves were a dark plum and crimson. The landscape was so smooth it was like walking on a blanket made of silk. As the dragon began to make her way through this strange land Salem followed. He looked around this jungle forest then back at the caves.
"Kadrid, slow down please."
"What is it?' She responded to him.
"We need to go to the mountain on the other side of these caves." He informed her.
After a few deep growls of protest, the dragon stopped, then turned around and slowly followed her warlock in the other direction.
"Why are we going to the mountain?" She asked in more of a whine.
"I'd call it warlock's intuition."
"I hope your intuition is correct this time." She snarled at him.
"Me, too but I remember it from my vision."
"You said that the last time."
"I'm sure this time." He replied.
"We shall see." Spat the dragon.
Before he had even noticed they were back to thier original starting point near the caves. They walked up the side of the caves entrance. Then around and before the next hour of hiking had made it behind the cavern. They haulted, looking up to see this mountain was huge, twice the size they had originally thought it would be.
"That's going to be a tough climb." Salem commented.
"You expect to climb that monster?" Retorted the dragon.
"Well yes, we need to get to the top half of the mountain and find a way inside of it." The warlock explained to her.
"Why do we need to get to the top and how do you know there's a way inside of it?" Kadrid asked him.
"Trust me I just know." He replied firmly to her.
"You do understand that I could just fly you up there." She pointed out.
"Yes I know, I just didn't think you'd want to do that." He teased her slightly.
"Climb on to my back warlock, I'll take you." She replied.
"Thank you, this will save us a lot of time." He told her as he slowly climbed onto the back of his dragon. He then gave her a slight hug of affection.
"Are you ready to go?" She asked making sure he was comfortable for the flight.
Kadrid stood on top of the cave and took her usual stance. Once she was positioned just right, the dragon leaped forward with her wings spread, flapping them in a rythmic motion. He could sense the joy shining from his little dragon. He knew that flying anywhere in any of the diffrent universes brought her a fullfillment he could never fully understand. Just seeing her this happy brought him enjoyment. He loved to see her this exstatically happy. He didn't dare to look down the entire time she was in the air. He knew it wouldn't be a long flight, but all too often if he looked down it would make him wish to vomit." Once the dragon had found a good spot to land, the warlock let out a deep sigh of relief. He dismounted and looked around to investigate.
"I don't see a door anywhere." The dragon pointed out.
"It isn't going to be in plain sight, I'm sure it's well hidden."
"Then how do we find it?" She asked flatly.
"We'll find it with magic, what else is there?" He informed the dragon.
