chapter 18
Pandora sat there alone in the dark cave chained to the cold floor. Her captor was more pleasant than she could have ever imagined but he had been gone several hours and she had no idea when he might return to check on her. The sorceress then shifted her body to a more comfortable position against the thick cavern wall. She was still nervous and scared of what events may unfold shortly. She needed to know what Braydin was planning. She needed to find it out as soon as possible. He didn't act as though he wanted to hurt her. She had sensed something displaced from him. As if his actions could be ordered from someone or something else? She didn't have a clue and that's what scared her more than anything, not knowing.
Her thoughts bean to wander until they settled on her Beloved Salem and good friend Kadrid, of course. She thought fondly of the dragon and even more so the hybrid warlock. She couldn't be certain it was love but she thought of him more than anything else latley. She wondered if he knew she had dissapeared. Pandora didn't know how long she had been a prisioner in this cave but it had to have been a few days by now. Pandora didn't know if she would ever return home again, or worse ever see Salem. She fought back tears just as Braydin entered the room.
"Where did you go?" She asked in a bold tone.
"Taking care of a few things, here i brought you something more to eat, i didn't know if you'd be hungry." He smiled, trying to gain her trust.
"Thank you, i'm a little hungry." She replied in a much softer tone.
"You're welcome."
"You seem like a nice fellow, why did you kidnap me?" She asked him flatly.
"What does it matter?" He retorted back in defense.
"Well i'd like to know why i have been obviously kidnapped from my home in the dead of night by a strange man that i've never met before now." Pandora explained to him.
"Would it make you feel better if i told you it isn't you we are after?" He shot back.
"So ther's more than one of you involved in all of this." She stated with a grin.
"Silence wench! I'll reveal to you what I want you to know and nothing more." He shouted at her.
Pandora smiled at the hybrid demon. She had struck a nerve, definetly getting to him, that was a good sign.
"What is it that you're not telling me?" She pressed on. It was a bold and dangerous move to anger a demon, even a half of one, but she needed to know what was going on here.
"We're using you as bait." He slipped out, as if the words had fallen from his mouth. He was filled with anger. She had figured out how to get to him already. He walked to the other side of the cave. He couldn't reveal too much too soon. This young sorceress was more powerful than he had thought and she wasn't even using her magic. He had to pull this one off, he had no choice. He walked back over to her and put on his most charming act.
"Why am I the bait?" She asked looking up into his eyes of darkness.
"What's with all of these questions? Look if you don't try to escape i won't have to hurt you." He gave her a cold demonic stare
She nodded in agreement a little frightened by his demenor.
"Good, then we can make it a plesant experience instead of a difficult one." He replied.
"How long will you keep me here?" She asked in an innocent tone.
"If all goes as planned no more than another week." He replied to her.
"That's a relief." She commented.
"What do you do at home, i mean what do you enjoy doing?" He asked, not out of curiosity but if he kept her talking she would let her guard down. He smiled as he manipulated the hybrid sorceress.
"I like to read, work on my spells, my herbal garden. Oh and visit with my friends." She replied without thinking as to why she was telling her kidnapper all of this. She took a sip of the coffee like drink before qestioning it.
"Why do you ask?" She looked at him with a hint of suspiscion, raising her left eyebrow.
"Im just curious , that's all. I used to live in the underworld and after escaping now I work for certain dark creatures." He explained to her.
"So you're kind of like a bounty hunter?" She asked.
"Sort of, yes. I never looked at it that way." He admitted to her.
Pandora scooted a little closer to him and sipped the warm liquid he had been so kind as to bring to her. After a few minutes of silence, he began with the line of questioning.
