chapter 14
Once they had been on the pathway for well past another hour they came across a shallow creek with a wooden bridge surrounded by cobblestone. Kadrid stopped for a moment to admire it's quaint charm before they moved onward down the path. They traveled across fields of trees for a few hours until they ended up in a dark marsh land. It was dank and dreary. The ground was covered in thick moss with mud as thick as wet concrete underneath. It was almost impossible to walk through. When they finally made thier way through it they were directly in front of a huge swamp.
"This isn't going to be good." Salem told her boldly.
"What do you mean? What is it?" The dragon asked in a nervous whisper.
"That over there is the voodoo swamp."
"I'm not sure what that is, but it doesn't sound good." Kadrid replied.
"It really isn't good. The voodoo princess lives there. Depending upon her mood she can be rather difficult to handle." Salem put it as gentle as he possibly could. The last thing he wanted to do was scare Kadrid any more than she seemed to be by now. The two of them slowly crept through the swamp land, trying to avoid confrontation with the native creatures of this place. They had tip toed half way throught the foul smelling swamp when suddenly they heard something to the left of them rustling in the plant life. All of the sudden Salem felt a wave of darkness sweep over him like nothing he had ever experienced before. He and the dragon just stopped where they stood unwilling to move.
