Chapter No. 9

“Wonder what that was about.” Polar said.

“Mhm.” Azura muttered.

“Can we sit down? My feet hurt.” Dabi complained.

(Sigherra’s POV)

The crowd cleared and I saw Mrs.McCorkle, Polar, Dabi, and Azura talking about something.

“Hey guys!” I said.

“Was geht?” Azura asked and Mrs.McCorkle had her phone out, probably on google translate.

Translate: What’s going on?

“Nothing much; we just talked with the governor and he agreed to let us Hybrids live in the town instead of being hidden away.” Crystal said with a proud look upon her face.

“Das ist großartig!” Polar exclaimed in german.

Translate: That’s great!

“Can you girls stop speaking different languages? It’s confusing.” Mrs.McCorkle asked.

We laughed but nodded.

“Yes ma’am.” I said with a smile.

“Now, let's look around and enjoy the scenery of this town.” Mrs.McCorkle said and we all agreed.

This time we all went in one group while Mrs.McCorkle spoke with some of the townspeople.

“Ooh! Caramel apples!” Dabi cheered when we passed a stand on the side of the road.

“Wanna get some?” I asked and everyone rapidly nodded.

I ended up paying for everyone’s food and we sat under a willow tree to relax and eat our caramel apples in peace and quiet.

“How long it our field trip?” Polar asked.

“Until half an hour before the school day ends.” Azura said.

“Yay!” We cheered.

Crystal lied her head on Violets legs and fell asleep.

“I have been defeated!” Violet whispered, “You go on without me!”

We all started laughing at Violet’s goofiness and ended up letting those two relax in the shade while the rest of us walked around.

“This town is beautiful.” Blizzy said in awe.

“I like our mountain more. We have cleaner air and a better view of everything.” Zoro mumbled.

“Stop being such a spoilsport!” I teased.

“Where should we go next?” Dabi asked.

“How about the town hall?” I suggested.

“Too serious!” Blizzy said and made a ‘bleck’ face.

“How about the carnival?” Zoro asked suddenly and we stopped walking and looked at her.

“There's a carnival?” I asked.

“Oh, I thought everyone saw it when we arrived.” She replied.

“Let's go!” I cheered and had Zoro lead the way to the carnival.

When we arrived I was amazed by the sight of it; I don't know how we could have missed it!

“Let's go on a roller coaster!” Blizzy cheered.

“vamos a la gran montaña rusa blanca!” Zoro said and pointed at a roller coaster.

Translate: Let’s go to the great white roller coaster!

“Yeah!” Everyone else cheered.

We screamed when the roller coaster went upside down or down a deep slope, but by the time it was over, we had to get back to school.

“Mrs.McCorkle, if it's okay with you, we’d like to visit our friend who’s in the hospital.” I said when we met back up with Violet, Crystal, and Mrs.McCorkle.

“Of course!” She said as we loaded up and headed to the hospital.

We checked in and went to go visit Cameron and, of course, Reganne was there at his bedside, asleep in a chair.

“Hey guys!” Cameron whispered and sat up in the hospital bed.

“Hey Cameron; how are you feeling?” Polar asked quietly.

“A little better. I still can’t hear things that well, but I can still hear most things.” Cameron replied.

“That’s good.” Azura said.

“Guys,” Polar mumbled, “I’m sorry for trying to kill you the other day.. I couldn't control myself. Literally. I was under the control of the forever potion and could see everything I was doing, but I couldn't stop it. I understand if you don't want to be my friend anymore...”

She looked like she was about to burst into tears because of everything she had been forced to do.

I went over to where she was standing and hugged her,”It's okay Polar.” I said and everyone else joined in on the hug.

“We’ll always be your friend Polar, no matter what you do.” Violet said quietly.

We talked with Cameron for a little while until our visitation time was over and we had to go.

“Bye Cameron! We’ll visit you tomorrow!” Crystal called out as we left.

“Bye guys!” Cameron called.

We got back to school as soon as the bell rang.

“Bye girls! Have a great rest of the day!” Mrs.McCorkle said as she went inside.

We all headed to Polar’s dorm, where all of this started.

“So… what now?” I asked.

“How about we just chat and enjoy our friendship and each other's company?” Polar suggested.

“That's a great idea.” Dabi and Blizzy said in unison.

“I’ll make us some snacks.” Zoro said and went into the dorms kitchen.

Half an hour later we all smelled chocolate and our mouths watered.

“I made chocolate and vanilla cupcakes! The vanilla are for the werewolf people here since you guys can't have chocolate.” Zoro said.

“Yummy!” I cheered and grabbed a vanilla cupcake.

“We should hangout more often guys.” Blizzy said.

“Agreed.” Azura replied.

“Guys, we can't forget that we have to go to court Saturday for Ein’s trial.” Polar said.

(3rd person’s POV)

“We need to use all the evidence we have to make sure Ein gets what he deserves.” Sigherra said and everyone nodded.

“I just hope things can go back to normal and stay that way.” Polar said.

“We should order a pizza and discuss things!” Crystal said.

they talked about what they’re action plan would be in the courtroom and how they would justify and prove their  claims.

“It's getting late,” Sigherra said, “Azura and I should head back to our dorm. It's been a long day.”

“Adiós!” Zoro exclaimed.

“Bye guys!” Azura exclaimed as she stood to leave.

(Sigherra’s POV)

As soon as Azura and I got back to our dorm I flopped down onto my bed face-first and let out a sigh.

It feels like an eternity has passed since I’ve been able to sleep.

I closed my eyes and let myself drift into sleep…

I woke up to the sun shining in my eyes from my bedroom window and felt more exhausted than when I went to sleep.

I got ready for school and was tempted to go back to sleep.

“Morning Azura.” I mumbled as I went into the kitchen to make myself some coffee, only to find that we were completely out.

Without meaning to, I groaned aloud. “Did you drink the last of the coffee?” I asked groggily.

She shook her head and took a bite of her cereal.

“I’m tired.” I stated and she laughed.

“Really? I hadn’t noticed.” She said.

“Is that sarcasm?” I asked.

“No.” She said, sarcastically.

“One of my friends it coming over this afternoon to help us with our action plan for in the courtroom Friday for Ein.” Azura said.

“Who it it?” I asked.

“A childhood friend. You wouldn’t know her.” Azura said, “Her name it Rsainbow. Yes, it has an ‘S’ in it. R-s-a-i-n-b-o-w.”

“Oh-kay then..” I muttered and made toast before glancing at the time.

“Oh my gosh! It’s time to go! We're late!” I exclaimed in a panic.

“Relax Sigherra, that clock doesn’t work. We still have five more minutes.” Azura said and washed out her empty bowl.

Azura packed her things into her backpack and left the dorm.

I chased after her with half a piece of toast hanging out of my mouth like a typical anime girl.

“Azura! Wait up!” I exclaimed as she went downstairs.

“Hey Azura!” A voice exclaimed, and I saw Azura talking to a neko girl with purple hair and pale violet eyes.

“Hey Rsainbow!” Azura exclaimed and the two of them walked down the hallway together towards the school library.

I walked into the library and sat in a chair with a book hiding my face as I watched the two.

“Hi Mrs.Stutler!” They exclaimed and sat down at another table.

After the two of them talked quietly they left the library.

{Time skip to the day of Ein’s trial}

(Azura’s POV)

I put on business attire and grabbed all the paperwork necessary to use against Ein.

Cameron had gotten out of the hospital yesterday and would be coming to court with us as well.

“Hey guys.” I said as I met up with the other's in my living room.

“Ready to go?” Crystal asked in a serious tone.

“Yep.”

We got a cab to the courthouse and went into the courtroom with solemn faces.

Ein walked up to the podium and sat down in the chair where he would be questioned.

I looked around and saw Rsainbow sitting in the room in a spot where she could easily see and hear everything.

“Please rise. The court of the second Judicial Circuit, Criminal Division, is now in session the honorable Judge Judy presiding.” The Bailiff said.

“Everyone but the jury may be seated. Mr. Cooper, please swear in the jury.” The judge said.

“Please raise your right hand. Do you solemnly swear or affirm that you will truly listen to this case and render a true verdict and a fair sentence as to this defendant?” The bailiff asked.

“I do.” Ein said.

“You may be seated.” The bailiff said and Ein sat down.

“Members of the jury, your duty today will be to determine whether the defendant is guilty or not guilty based only on facts and evidence provided in this case. The prosecution has the burden of proving the guilt of the defendant beyond a reasonable doubt. This burden remains on the prosecution through the trial. The prosecution must prove that a crime was committed and that the defendant is the person who committed the crime. However, if you are not satisfied of the defendant’s guilt to that extent, then reasonable doubt exists and the defendant must be found not guilty. Mr. Cooper, what is today’s case?” The judge asked.

“Your honour, today’s case it the State of Florida versus Ein Evile.” The bailiff replied.

“Is the prosecution ready?” She asked.

The prosecuting attorneys stood up, “Yes, your honour.” They said and sat back down.

“It the defense ready?” She asked.

They stood up, “Yes, your honour.” They replied and sat back down.

Ein’s attorney stood at the podium.

“Your Honour, members of the jury, my name is Lola moon and I and my classmates are representing Ein Evile in this case. We intend to prove Ein Evile innocent. Please find that Ein Evile is not guilty and should be free of charge in this matter. Thank you.” His attorney stated and sat down.

“Prosecution, You may call your first witness.” The judge said.

“Thank you, your honour. I call to the stand Azura Night.” They said.

“Will the witness please stand to be sworn in by the bailiff.” The judge asked.

I stood up and looked at the bailiff.

“Please raise your right hand. Do you swear to tell the truth, the whole truth, and nothing but the truth?” He asked.

“I do.” I replied and went to the stand and sat down.

“Where were you during the events that occurred, involving Ein Evile?” The prosecution asked.

“I was trying to stay alive. Ein was trying to eliminate all of us hybrids so we were all trying to stay alive and safe.” I said.

“How can you prove this?” They asked.

“Sigherra, Crystal, Violet, Dabi, Zoro, Blizzy, and Polar were there with me.” I stated.

{Time skip to the end of the court trial}

“Do you find Ein Evile to be guilty or otherwise?” The judge asked.

“Ein Evile is found guilty.” The jury said.

“Ein Evile will serve one to two years in prison and will do community services for three years.” The judge said and dismissed the courtroom.

“That was stressful!” Crystal exclaimed when we exited the courthouse.

“I’m hungry. All this seriousness made me gain a large appetite!” Violet exclaimed.

“Wanna grab a bite to eat on the way home?” Zoro suggested and they cheered.

“I wanna just… relax.” I muttered, “Our lives have been WAY too hectic lately and it’s killing me.”

“Azura’s right,” Sigherra said, “We should just relax for once. We don’t know how crazy our future will be so let's enjoy our freedom while it lasts.”

“I’m gonna head home guys. It’s been a week since I was home since I’d been in the hospital for a while.” Cameron said and got a cab back to his dorm.

“I know this it SO stereotypical, but--- LET’S GO SHOPPING!!!!!!!!!!!!” Blizzy exclaimed and Dabi and her bounced around excitedly.

“Violet and I will stay at the mall’s food court.” Crystal said and Violet nodded.

“Okay, we’ll meet up here in an hour.” I said and we split off into groups.

Blizzy went with Dabi to shop for clothes, Zoro went with Polar to look at things, and I went with Sigherra to look at things as well.

Everything after that went pretty smoothly; our lives went back to normal.

We went through the rest of the school year as though nothing had ever happened, and we moved into the town with the humans at the end of the year.

Everything is peaceful between the humans and us Hybrids and their hasn’t been a single argument or misunderstanding since we moved into the town.

The school us hybrids had been going to in the mountainside was made into a mountain climbing resort.

Everyone has been getting along in ways I never could have imagined.

They even put up a statue in honour of us hybrids!

When we moved into the town, they had prepared a whole welcoming feast in our honour and helped us move in to our new homes.

Today is a very important day.

Today is the day one of the hybrids-- no matter how old they are-- will become a leader in our side of society.

I really hope the government makes a responsible decision.
