(Sigherra's POV)

"Get up!” Azura yelled, and whacked me with my pillow. “Oof!” I grunted as it hit me in the face.

“I’m up, I’m up. Now get out so I can get ready for school!” I said, and practically shoved Azura out of my room.

As soon as I was ready for school I flung my bedroom door open and sprinted across the dorm to the kitchen.

“Breakfast!” I cheered and poured myself a bowl of cereal. “Someone’s in a good mood.” Azura said, and laughed. “Why wouldn’t I be? We have school today!” I cheered and she pat me on the head as she walked past me while drinking her coffee.

“You're such a kid.” She teased and had another sip of her coffee. I pretended to be offended and slammed my hand over my heart, “I’m offended!” I said in a mock tone, “I’m as mature as any other person!”

Azura just laughed and walked to her room.

(Azura’s POV)

I grabbed my textbooks, notebooks, and backpack and headed out of the dorm for school.

I heard an enthusiastic voice behind me, “It’s such a glorious morning, isn’t it?” Polar asked, as she looked out the windows of the hallway as she walked next to me.

“Yeah, it’s a good day, alright. I’d rather be in bed sleeping right now though.” I mumbled and went to my locker.

I can’t believe I’ve gotten a bottom locker four years in a row! I really have bad luck when it comes to lockers. “Oh wow, you got stuck with a bottom locker, huh?” Polar said, as she beamed down at me from her top locker.

“Yeah, yeah. You got a top locker, tease me all you want.” I muttered, as I put my backpack in my locker and slammed the door shut.

I hurried to my first class just as the bell rang and saw that the room was empty and the lights were out.

Desks were knocked over and papers littered the floor. “What happened here?” I wondered aloud as I looked around.

I heard a deep laugh somewhere in the room but the person quickly smothered it.

Someone came out from behind one of the overturned desks and I recognised them as Ein, the normal person I met in the town the other day with everyone else.

“What are you doing here?” I asked in a menacing tone as I glared at him.

“I was just about to ask you the same thing.” He said with a smirk, “This place isn’t the best place to be if I were you. Y’know, all those monstrous hybrids running around when really, they should be caged up and locked away forever.” Ein said.

“Shut up Ein. You don’t have a say in what should happen with hybrids. Hybrids have feelings too and do you honestly think they would be happy with being caged up?” I asked in a harsh tone.

“Oh wow, you're actually standing up for those disgusting creatures. What is your problem? You are standing up for those creatures! I don’t get you, y’know that? Why do you stand up for them, let alone go to the same school as them?” Ein asked and laughed.

“Because I’m not like you. I’m nothing like you. You see, I’m a hybrid just like them.” I said and took off my hood, revealing my cat ears. I brought out my retractable claws and glared at Ein again.

“Oh, so you're a disgusting monstrosity too? Guess I should’ve known that. Oh well. Time to get rid of yet another horrid creature.” Ein said and two people came out of the shadows on both sides of me and grabbed my arms.

“Time to say goodbye.” He said and I was met by darkness.

(3rd person’s POV)

Azura awoke in a darkened room and when she looked around she saw her hybrid friends along with Cameron.

“Why are you here?” She asked. “Because he hates me… and… well… uhmm… I’m a hybrid too?” He asked, more than said.

“Where’s Sigherra?!” She asked and looked around frantically, “And Polar?!”

Cameron and Azura looked around the dimly lit room and noticed bars.

Cell bars.

They were locked up like animals.

“Let us out!” Azura frantically screeched.

Violet appeared next to Azura and made her shriek again.

“Stop doing that!” Azura said.

“He got you too, huh?” Cameron asked.

Violet nodded.

“How?”

She sighed and started to explain, “He found me using heat sensors so that he could see me when I turned invisible. Then he knocked me out and brought me here, same as you guys.” Violet said.

“Ohhh okay.” Azura replied.

“Have you seen the others?” Azura asked and Violet shook her head.

It was at that moment that Crystal was thrown in. “Hey! Let me out of here! I need pizza!” She shrieked and kicked the cell bars.

“Crystal?” Violet asked and Crystal turned her head to look at them-- a weird, snake-like movement that made her seem somehow inhuman.

“Violet!” Crystal shrieked and hugged her.

After a while They all sat on the cold, hard, stone floor and tried to think of a way to escape.

“So none of us were conscious when we were thrown down here. What are our options?” Violet asked.

Everyone shrugged.

“Well we need to think of something.” She said.

Ein slowly walked down the steep stone stairs and smiled at all the hybrids.

“Finally, worthless hybrids hidden away from the world where they won’t find a way into my town! Finally this world is rid of all you monstrosities!” Ein said proudly. Everyone glared at him-- If looks could kill, he’d be long gone.

“Why do you hate us hybrids so much?” Cameron asked. “It’s quite simple, really. Hybrids like you are worthless monstrosities that have no place in society. Not now, not ever. You walk around as though you're more important than everyone else in the world and act as though nothing and no one else matters.” Ein said, “I’m tired of us humans being pushed aside as though we’re nothing! We have a place in society and you don’t because you're more powerful than us humans because of your hybrid abilities!”

“Well, we can change that if we work together. I’m sure this whole thing is just a big misunderstanding, a very big misunderstanding. Let’s just push aside our differences and try to get along.” Cameron said, and for the first time I saw how he was a hybrid.

He had black and red wings with rigid and torn edges, a black wolf tail with a blood red tip, sharp teeth like a vampire, and long, sharp claws like a cat.

“So you finally decided to show your true form. I always knew their was something… monstrous about you. Even these hybrids will think of you as a freak!” Ein said and laughed like an evil mastermind.

All of a sudden Violet appeared in front of Cameron and Azura saw her glaring at Ein, “The only monster here is you Ein, you think that by locking us away you're solving the world's problems.

“You think that by ridding the world of us you’ll make things better. There’s something bad coming-- I can sense it-- and we won’t be able to stop it from happening if we don’t work together.” Violet said and Ein laughed.

“Nothing will convince me to let any of you freaks out. Nothing!” Ein exclaimed.

“Hopeless..” She muttered, “You're hopeless! What more do you want from us? For us to rot in here for all of eternity?!” She asked, outraged.

He made a big show of trying to come up with an answer before looking her straight in the eye, smiling, and said, “Yes.”
