Meeting with the Elders

As Kwan walked into the medium-sized office, he quickly noticed that there was only one window in the room. It was located on the wall to the right of the desk. The window was a floor-ceiling one, wide enough for a lycan to jump through. He could see the sunlight streaming through the window, illuminating the room with a warm, golden glow. The two white blackout curtains were drawn to the side, allowing the light to pour into the room.

He took a moment to survey Sasha's office, absorbing the cozy yet mysterious ambiance. He noticed the antique and contemporary books neatly arranged on a brown bookshelf. Next to the bookshelf, a brown folder dresser stood, emanating a faint scent of fresh wood. A few notepads were stacked on top. The two brown mid-century modern design vegan leather armchairs added a touch of elegance to the room. The brown desk in front of him seemed to complete the cozy feel of the room.

Sasha's desk was immaculate, with stacks of folders neatly arranged on either side. There was a small stack of papers in front of her keyboard. Kwan walked around the desk, taking in the details of her black office chair with white designs. The word 'Hemming' engraved in cursive on the headrest, giving it a touch of elegance. Her desk was adorned with a white desk lamp beside her monitor.

On the left side of her desk, there was a brown vegan leather sofa that matched the two armchairs. The walls of the room were painted white, and above the sofa hung a thirty-inch frame with a picture of Sasha and her parents. The photo brought a smile to Kwan's face, and he felt a sense of warmth and comfort in the room.

Kwan's nostrils flared as he breathed in the alluring fragrance of Sasha that permeated the air in her office. The earthy scent mixed with a hint of vanilla and cocoa butter, causing his eyes to flutter shut in pleasure. Abruptly, he snapped his eyes open, realizing that Sasha had forgotten to eliminate the scent. Panic set in as he frantically searched the room for something to mask her scent.

His gaze fell on a wolf-shaped candle holder perched on her desk. He grabbed it and rummaged through her desk, his fingers moving fast as he searched for a lighter. Finally, he found one in her top drawer and flicked the flame to life, igniting the candle with a soft glow.

As the scent of vanilla and an unfamiliar fragrance filled the room, he felt himself easing into a state of calm. His ear twitched, picking up the alluring sound of his mate's voice and the pulsing heartbeats of four other individuals. He walked towards the inviting sofa and sank into it, relishing the feel of the strong yet soft cushion beneath his fingertips.

In a matter of moments, his stunning mate arrived, commanding attention with her every step. She was clad in tight black jeans that accentuated her toned legs and a sleeveless corset leather top that hugged her chest. As he took in the sight of her, he felt his chest swell with pride and gratitude. She was a rare gem, and he was blessed beyond measure to call her his.

Kwan's body tensed as he observed the group of people that had walked in with Sasha. The scent of rosewood and sea salt wafted towards him, triggering a vague sense of familiarity. He took a closer look at the older hunched back man and the young man, who seemed to be his guard. But he couldn't recall ever meeting them.

He shifted his gaze towards his mate, who sat relaxed in her chair with a blank expression. He raised an eyebrow in a silent question, but she only shrugged slightly in response. I'm pretty sure I told her no male. Kwan rolled his eyes before focusing on the last unfamiliar face. It was an old woman who appeared to be as old as the man that had taken a seat in front of Sasha's desk. Her scent reminded him of the dead witch, Ivy. Do all witches carry the scent of lily? He wondered.

The atmosphere in the room was tense, as if something ominous was about to happen. Kwan glanced over at Jia, who had a look of irritation on her face as she approached the sofa. "You good?" he whispered to her once she sat down beside him.

"You'll see the cause of my pain in a second," Jia whispered back.

Kwan shrugged nonchalantly and sank into the luxurious sofa. His eyes darted over to the two elders who sat across from him. Despite their advanced age, they both exuded a commanding presence that demanded respect. His wolf stirred within him, growling softly in his mind as his gaze landed on the tall, pale-skinned man with piercing violet eyes. The air around the man seemed to vibrate with an unspoken threat. But Kwan couldn't quite put his finger on what it was that made him feel so uneasy.

"Alpha Jung Kwan, the challenger that took over my dear friend Alpha Chin's pack," said a hoarse and trembling voice.

Kwan's eyes moved from the man with violet eyes to the Elder, whose attention was now on him. He stared at the Elder's face for a minute before crossing his legs. "Please, just call me Warrior Kwan. You see Elder...," he trailed off.

"Levi Jacobs," said Elder Jacobs with a growl.

"Right, Elder Jacobs, I am not an alpha. I didn't challenge anyone. I simply protected Alpha Hemming, who had come to our rescue," said Kwan. He glanced over at Sasha, his eyes scanning her face, only to find her staring intently at Elder Jacobs. Her expression was stoic, her face devoid of any emotions, but a tiny twitch in her cheek betrayed her true feelings.

Elder Jacobs' light green narrowed at his answer. "Why are you here?" Elder Jacobs asked.

Kwan shrugged casually. "I'm on a journey to find my soulmate. Thought I'd stop by Crescent Moon Pack to see if I was lucky enough to find her here."

Elder Jacobs let out a low growl. "A newly appointed alpha should not be out searching for a mate. You should be in your territory, doing your alpha duties and training."

Kwan's eyes darted towards Sasha. Despite her composed expression, Kwan sensed a tense energy emanating from her. He could see the fire in the depths of her eyes, a dangerous flame that threatened to consume everything in its path. He gave her a playful wink before turning his gaze to Elder Jacobs with a stern expression. "I think you've got the wrong guy. The last time I checked, the new alpha of Silvermoon was Alpha Brown. Furthermore, if you have a problem with him, Alpha Chin's mate, Luna Chin, is capable of taking care of the pack."

The low rumble of a menacing growl echoed through the room, causing Kwan to snap his head towards the source. The tall guard who stood beside Elder Jacobs had suddenly taken on a more intimidating presence, his violet eyes darkening with a dangerous glint. "Watch how you speak to the Elders, pup," he said in a gruff voice.

Kwan sensed Jia's movement beside him on the plush sofa, the fabric rustling beneath them. He held his breath, hoping she wouldn't do anything that would arouse suspicion from the two Elders. He released a small sigh when she remained seated. Sasha must have told her to calm down.

Kwan raised an eyebrow at the pale-skinned man before turning to face Elder Jacobs. "You better control your watchdog. The only reason he's still standing after that disrespect is because I'm in Alpha Hemming territory. And I have a lot of respect for her."

Elder Jacobs fixed Kwan with a stern look before placating his guard with a reassuring hand on his arm. "Relax Nathan. Starting a fight in Alpha Hemming territory is the last thing we want," he said firmly.

Kwan's lips curved into a saccharine smile as he gazed at the pair, but his wolf longed to sink his teeth into Nathan's neck. Despite the smile on Kwan's face, the atmosphere was anything but amiable.

"How long have you been away for you to be unaware that Luna Chin had ended her life?" asked Elder Jacobs, his eyes narrowing with suspicion.

Kwan stroked his chin contemplatively. "A few days, give or take. It's an adventure traveling through unknown territories. I've seen so many things that I wouldn't have seen if I had stayed in Silvermoon's territory."

Sasha's hand made a thunderous clap as it collided with her wooden desk, causing a sharp echo to reverberate throughout the silent room. "Now that you've interrogated my guest, can we move on to why you guys are here?" she asked.

Kwan received one last piercing glare from Elder Jacobs before the elder shifted his attention to Sasha. "Where is Gamma Cambell, and why are you having a meeting with a white wolf?" asked Elder Jacobs.

The question caused Kwan to feel a sudden sense of unease, causing him to tense up. So the old man had known I was a white wolf.
