CHAPTER 8- Anxiety

CRASH!

Cassandra telekinetically threw the bolted desk across the room.

There was a knock at the door, before it opened and Miana stepped in.

She winces as even more things exploded or were tossed around and broken.

The female sighed the room was completely trashed. Her mistress was angry and frustrated.

She spoke. "Lady Cassandra, please calm down,"

Cassandra stopped but not before punching a hole in the wall with her fist.

Her other hand went to her face, wiping away the bloody streaks flowing from her eyes.

Instead of aqueous tears, vampires 'cried' blood.

Miana sighed. Her Mistress was hurt but it was for her own good. She would learn to move on, soon enough.

Cassandra dropped her fist. She wanted to rip someone's throat out.

Jake had been missing almost a week now. Six days, twenty- three hours, thirty two minutes and counting to be exact. She could tell, she knew he was alive but couldn't locate or sense his aura at all.

Then Kyle couldn't be contacted for the entire week!

And it wasn't exactly easy to search for him when she was constantly on duty.

The organization that sent the shape shifter after him could be responsible.

She had no idea! It was like he had just disappeared.

Yet, that wasn't possible, was it?

Who cares! All she knew was she wouldn't kill his abductors.

Oh no! She'd let them live- to regret it and make them wish she had killed them instead.

"Lady Cassandra."

Cassandra looked up at her while she cleaned her face.

"Please follow me."

She nodded and followed her.

Miana grabbed her hand and led her into a large room with large soft looking furniture.

She put her sitting in a large comfortable spinning arm chair.

Cassandra sat up almost immediately. "What're you-"

Miana grabbed her shoulders and leaned her back into the chair. "Relax,"

She was tense.

Cassandra gradually relaxed and sank into the soft chair as Miana gently massaged her shoulders.

It felt good.

"Mistress, why are you so tense?" Miana asked, although she perfectly knew why.

"Jake's been missing a few days and I'm worried sick," Cassandra sighed.

Miana's eye narrowed. "You have any leads to find him?"

Were they unto her?

"No," Cassandra whispered "And it's very frustrating,"

Miana kept the slight relief she was feeling locked away.

"What do you know then Milady? Maybe I can help find him as well," she pressed almost gagging at the last part. Being apathetic sometimes was very hard.

"All I know is that he's alive," Cassandra said her voice almost cracking as blood threatened to stream down her face again.

"But for how long?" Miana said quietly.

'What?' Cassandra said sharply sitting up and turning around.

Miana was silent.

"What did you just say?" her mistress said coldly.

She needed to tread carefully. She was on dangerous ground, she thought before replying. "What I mean is that he's a hybrid, isn't he? They re rare and their blood is precious. What if he was taken and sacrificed or if he ran away?" Miana shrugged "I meant not to anger you Mistress, I was just trying to be neutral and look at all angles,"

Cassandra thought for a moment, calming herself. Miana had dedicated herself to her since they were very young, pledging to be her servant for the rest of her life and that was over twenty- five years ago.

Their relationship, though, had blossomed to more than the mere master and servant, Miana was her friend.

She was one of the only people Cassandra could probably say she trusted her with her life.

The question in Cassandra's mind was: What kind of crap was her close friend thinking, for less speaking? Of course, she would find him!

She didn't lie when she promised her dead mother, she'd protect him!

Cassandra took a breath, taming her irritation and anger.

"I understand you," she forced a smile "but understand I won't give up- ever not until I find him and well when I do, he'd better be alive- for his captor's sake. Now, thank you for the time out, but I have an appointment to get to,"

With that, she rose and stalked out, but not before making the desk in the room spontaneously combust.

Miana ducked and watched her leave.

* * *

Jake breathed out slowly.

He struggled slightly against his restraints, even though it was useless.

He was blindfolded and gagged and all his senses were warped. Once, one of his senses were blocked, the others would heighten but block several and he started to loose direction and sense of time.

The only senses he had left were touch and normal human hearing.

Miana had made him inhale something that knocked out his sense of smell and for some reason, for as long as he had been captured he couldn't use or talk to his vampire or werewolf.

Jake shivered as he felt the slight vibration of the door opening silently and someone walking in quietly.

The door closed and he could no longer feel their foot steps. They had to be floating.

"Were you lonely?" a voice said softly in his ear.

Jake shivered and squirmed against the restraints.

She chuckled, then ripped the blindfold off.

Jake blinked as his eyes adjusted to the lights in the room. He must have been like that for at least a couple minutes as he took in his surrounding.

A bare carpeted room and the Witch standing in front of him.

"Enjoying getting your sight back?" Miana smirked.

Jake managed to glare at her as his sense of vision balanced with his other senses. She ripped the gag off.

"What no reply?" she laughed "So you have finally learned to hold you tongue?"

Jake said nothing. If she thought that she had broken him, she had another thing coming. He would tear her apart- soon. Relishing the feeling of slow torture, flesh ripping away from bone and watch as her blood slowly ran as she bled out. Her body torn to pieces- like shredded paper.

Miana grabbed his face and held it upwards to look at her.

Her face and eyes full of spite and disgust.

"I didn't think, it would be so easy to break you," she said coldly "Open your mouth,"

"No," he said, his voice coarse from not speaking for so long.

Miana smirked and propped his jaw open. Then producing a bottle, poured the red liquid into his mouth.

"Swallow," she growled as Jake tried to spit it out.

Eventually she forced him to drink all of it. He was weak, starved and deprived.

Jake gasped as she stepped back. "Why are you doing this?"

"I'm doing what I said, making you disappear,"

"Why?"

"Because," she looked at him "Your life is meaningless,"

"What?"

"Tell me orphan, what is the reason for our existence? You are all alone in this world with no parents to love you. Why were you born? You're an inconvenience,"

She cupped his face in her hands as her eyes glowed red.

"Shut up! Stop it!" Jake screamed as she started to attack him telepathically, pushing her mind into his own- imposing her will.

"Give in," she whispered.

Jake felt his few remaining mental barriers break one after another.

She pushed images into his head. He didn't want to see them.

It hurt! Every horrible vivid image he could see and feel it!

"Leave me alone!"

Miana gagged him again to limit his cries, it was giving her a headache.

She stopped as she watched him loose consciousness.

That was enough. She wanted to break him slowly and savor each and every moment.

Smirking she left, after replacing the blindfold.

* * *

The purple atmosphere darkened, then switched between blue, red and black.

Ever so often, the room would shake and the transparent floor appeared to have cracks in it.

Jake shivered. Everything felt wrong.

His mental state was falling apart. She now had access to his memories and was altering it, putting hideous stuff he did not want in there.

He hated the Witch.

Jake sat down and watched as the ground cracked up even more.

Why couldn't he call his wolf or vampire?

What was wrong with him! The room shook again.

Suddenly, there were flashes of light. A bright blue flash and a red one.

The floating lights took on physical forms before dropping two bodies- Axel and his wolf.

Axel sat up groggily. "Ugh! What happened?"

He rubbed his eyes and stood up slowly, looking at Jake.

The atmosphere brightened revealing cracks as it turned red.

Jake turned around relieved, he watched as Axel kept rubbing his eyes. "What's wrong?"

"I can't see," Axel said panicking a bit.

"Wait does that mean we're blind!" Jake screamed as the room shook again.

"No you moron!" Axel said letting his hands drop and blinking furiously.

"I can't hear or smell," his wolf growled "What's going on?"

"Wait, first we're blind, now I'm deaf and can't smell too!" Jake wailed.

The wolf shook his head. "You have got to be....,"

"-kidding me!" Axel finished for him as they both watched the atmosphere darken.

"How paranoid is he?" the wolf asked watching Jake panicking.

"On a scale of one to ten, I give him a fifteen," Axel smirked, folding his arms across his chest.

"Should we stop him?"

The werewolf gave him a look, silently.

"Ok, jeez!" Axel said in surrender.

Jake gasped as his back hit the ground and his arms yanked on either side of his body.

"Dude, chill out!" his wolf and vampire said at the same time.

Axel cross- armed had his left arm pinned down with his foot while his wolf pinned the other down.

The atmosphere glowed purple again as the cracks receded.

"Wh-What's happening to me!" Jake wailed.

"Puberty," Axel muttered annoyed " I swear if you start crying, I'm gonna beat your a-"

He stopped getting another look from the wolf.

"Ugh!" Axel groaned "Listen I'm real irritated right now and you are not helping,"

"Geez."

"Why are you taking it out on us for?" the other two said simultaneously.

Now it was Axel's turn to give them a look. "Like seriously? You two do it all the time!"

They both gave him another look.

Axel gave up, yet they called him the crazy one.

"Alright, you're not loosing it. Usually you use vampiric vision and werewolf smell and hearing and for some reason I can't use my powers-"

 "Wait, I'm powerless!" Jake screams.

"-yet," Axel finishes.

"Oh."

"What happened to us?" his wolf asked.

Jake sighed and told them about Miana.

"Say what?" Axel said once they were finished.

"Are you kidding me?" the other asked.

"Miana kidnapped us," Jake repeated.

"Say what?" Axel repeated.

"She blindfolded, tied and gagged us and still had the guts to knock out our hearing and sense of smell. I'm. Going. To. Rip Her. To. Pieces!" his wolf said, each word laced with venom.

The atmosphere glowed blue and healed completely.

"Say what? Eh I'm just kidding on that last one. I agree. Shall we teach her a lesson, J?" Axel asked releasing him.

"Yes," Jake said sitting up as the purple atmosphere glowed. His eyes flashing between red and blue, as he looked at them.

Axel and his wolf smirked as he made eye contact.

Jake saw everything go black.

* * *

Axel leaned his head upwards and tried to move.

His limbs were bound to a chair and he was gagged and blindfolded.

Well, that explains why he couldn't use his sight.

The bindings felt like tight plastic, couldn't have been tape, it didn't stick to his skin.

"Someone's coming, you have thirty seconds," the wolf said.

Axel struggled. "Why can't I move! My strength should have snapped these things by now!"

"They're enchanted I think," was the reply "Hold up, I may be able to help,"

Axel felt the door open. "Hurry up would ya?"

She stepped closer and removed the gag. "You're finally awake,"

"Aw! Were you concerned? Or did you manage to actually remember to care?"

"No," was the short reply.

"Admit it, you're scared. If my blood drops or I die, Kyle and Cassandra will immediately know. I hope you already made funeral arrangements or you'd better have damn good life insurance. Especially if resurrection is included,"

"You little-"

"Come on, I dare you. Do your worst," Axel said menacingly but in his mind "Hurry up, pup,"

"Done. Get her legs vamp," the wolf said.

Miana glared at him as he started laughing. "What's so funny?"

"Your expression when this happens," Axel smirked.

Suddenly, his body exploded into red energy and all restraints disintegrated.

The boy stood up, Miana stepped back.

Axel tugged the blindfold off, his fans elongated.

"Wha- how!" she started, her face full of shock.

The boy blinked as his sight returned.

At least, I can see again, he thought. Now..... He turned to look at her.

Axel smirked again. "That's was the expression I was waiting for. Hold that face, lemme get a camera,"

He looked around the dark, gloomy and almost empty room. "So sad. There's n camera. No picture. But you sure imprinted a dark, depressing, scarring one on mine. You're a real fan of depravation, aren't you, Witch?" his face darkened.

"You should have killed him, us, before I came out," he took a step forward, Miana took a step back. "But you couldn't could you? The female and Alpha would have known right away if our blood was spilled. Oh well, now you're going to suffer,"

"How did you get loose!" she screamed angrily. It shouldn't have been possible!,"

He placed a finger over his lips, his red eyes glowing. "Sshh. Hear that? It's silence. I'll make sure yours is permanent," he finished softly.

* * *

Axel cocked his head to one side, staring at Miana as she breathed heavily. "Tired already?"

There was no reply and he yawned. This was getting boring. How long had he been fighting her? Maybe an hour? Two? Or maybe more?

The only challenge really was the fact that she could cast spells. Her combat skills were a bit sub- par and she was already exhausted.

He hadn't even broken a sweat.

He should probably end this though? Quickly, but as harsh and painful as possible.

Miana glared at the boy. How much stamina did he have?

A good bit, but you're just to weak to wear me out, his voice whispered telepathically.

Suddenly, he was behind her. "It looks like I'll have to bring that permanent silence now," he whispered.

Miana dodged as he lashed out at her while murmuring an incantation underneath her breath.

Axel sighed and looked down at the at the glowing glyph that had appeared underneath his feet, glowing.

An explosion rocked the storey/ floor filling the entire place with smoke and rising flames.

She had him!

Miana waited for the smoke to clear, and to see a burnt or smithereens of a burnt body.

All she saw was black stains and crumbling parts of wall.

Axel reappeared behind her in mere milli seconds before sending a blow that sent her crashing through wall after wall.

Three to be precise.

He ripped an axe of the wall. They were in the Hall of Weapons after all.

He was going to make this quick, this was getting too boring. She was weak.

Pathetic.

Axel flew through the wreckage where Miana was sprawled out, the axe leaning casually against his shoulder.

The female winced as she sat up.

Her clothes were torn and she had blood running down one side of her face.

Axel quietly observed the pink, lacy band of her underwear that was showing, since one side of her skirt was ripped up to the waist.

The Witch coughed, and slowly lifted her head.

The boy saw all the hatred and disgust bubble and glimmer in her eyes, pooling into a desire to kill.

"I'm going to make you suffer."

"Oh. Trust me the mere sight of you does that to me already," Axel replied "Surrender and maybe I'll consider making you die quickly instead of slowly in the most painful way possible,"

"Don't underestimate me!"

"No, it's the other way around and you're severely disappointing me."

Miana placed her hands on the ground and started chanting something.

It was in Crytic- the ancient language of vampires.

Black appendage like objects ran along the walls and floors. Shadows.

All towards him.

Axel levitated. He couldn't exactly hit them- they were shadows and dark evil ones at that.

A shadow wasn't exactly something you could out run either.

He needed light- sun light, but the witch had somehow blocked the windows. It was probably late evening or dawn. He should have at least been able to catch the last rays of sunlight.

All he could do was wait.

There was no where to go. The entire floor they had been on- no this entire section of the building had been sealed and locked. She had been chosen a good place to imprison him.

The shadows crawled past Miana and stopped- as if waiting, on her command.

"Get him, my pets," she said.

The shadows lifted off the ground taking physical forms.

A dark witch, the boy thought. She was a forbidden magic user.

There was a reason why shadow magic was banned. You can't destroy your shadow. It's your personal stalker that follows you every where you go.

They can't be killed and are still remnant even if you die and the shadows follow the commands of their of their master.

Their was a price, though. Unless you were strong willed, they could control you and drive you insane. Each time they were summoned some of your life force was to be given in exchange. If used repeatedly, you soul eventually became dark, was absorbed and left your empty shell of a body behind.

This was bad.

A/N sorry if this chapter was too ,on but I decided to split it in two. And I'm not going to say more its enough words already. Read on!
