CHAPTER 7- Dejection

His grandmother- one of the few people on this planet he had left was dead.

His wolf had taken over and he had lost control- remembering nothing.
The police station was half- destroyed. And he had the attention of human authorities- the cops.

The last two Jake would probably in trouble for.His body screamed from exhaustion, but he barely felt it over his emotional pain.  It was like he was stuck. At first, it didn't seem real but he had come to term's with her death. Some part of him knew she might die but he didn't want to accept it. He would really miss Jane Freeman.

Jake sat up slowly and hugged his knees against his chest. His muscles screamed silently at the movement. He had cried till he ran out of tears. He sat like that for a while. Jake took a deep breath in, then, swung his legs off the bed and headed straight for the fridge.

He opened it and reached for blood bag after blood bag, draining them quickly with his fangs.

Soon there were five empty bags on the ground. He threw them away and walked towards the shower to wash sway the remnants of his sorrow.

Cassandra leaned back in her large comfy chair with a companion.

The mutt- Kyle.

They had been talking about Jake. Him being a recluse as of the moment was one of them.

Honestly, she couldn't believe the things she did to help her little brother.

Tolerating Kyle was at the top of the list.

There was a sudden knock at the door. "Come in!" Cassandra called out.

A brown haired head popped up, then the rest of the person walked in. "Hey Cassie, who are you talking to? Did you finally get a boy-" Jake stopped.

Kyle raised an eyebrow. "Care to finish that statement?"

Not unless I care about losing my head, Jake thought before replying. "I didn't say anything,"

Jake jumped a bit, as the door closed and locked itself on its own. He still had not gotten used to that completely- Cassandra's telekinesis.

Cassie smirked at his unease and shook her head.

Kyle walked towards him, until they were side by side.

"You ok?"

"Yeah, why?" Jake pressed.

The man smirked. "I'll be back for you in a week,"

"Say what? Don't you two think I should get back to school by now? It's not like it's holiday," Jake stated.

"Which do you mean a vampire one or monster academy?" Cassandra asked.

"Neither," Jake growled. "I mean my regular school. I swear if you send me to any of those places, so help me I will go on a rampage and people will disappear and get bludgeoned,"

Did his eyes just flash blue? Cassandra wondered.

"Plus don't you think, its enough you kidnapped me and force me to train which would probably repeat it self with him?" he pointed to Kyle "You won't kill me, right?" he asked hopefully.

"I'll leave that up to your overactive imagination to fill in," Kyle said walking away.

"He's gonna kill me!" Jake complained as Kyle disappeared through a glowing red portal.

He levitated over to Cassandra's desk and grabbed the bottle on it.
He swirled the red liquid within it.

Blood champagne- basically blood with herbs and spices to enhance and induce flavor. All day he was missing was a large box of blood candy. He should check Allan for that.

"Are you ok?" Cassandra asked looking at him.

"Yeah, why does everyone keep asking me that?" Jake said before downing some of the liquid. "Even Allan tackled me on my way here,"

"Really? Are you over-exaggerating again?"

"No, he literally tackled me to the floor and asked me that."

"We share a grandmother but you and her were really close, unlike myself, I just knew of her existence," Cassandra said slowly.

"Ok, why are you worrying so much?" Jake asked drinking again.

"Jake you locked yourself in that room for three days. I could hear your sobs and the dog said he felt your all consuming grief," Cassandra explained.

The boy spat, coughing and sputtering. He was in there for that long?!

Cassandra giggled a bit. He was definitely back to normal, mostly. The randomness was there and his habit of always stealing  her food was active. He   may need some counselling though.

"It's..... not.....funny," Jake gasped between coughs.

She laughed even more.

Jake settled himself and finished the bottle. "That explains why I'm so hungry," he muttered.

"You're hungry?"

Jake nodded.

There was a knock at the door.

"Come in!" Cassandra called as the lock turned. The door opened.

In the door way stood- Miana.

Jake shivered.

She was dressed in a short, red, pencil skirt with a white blouse tucked in it- simple enough but her jewelry made up for it. Her green eyes locked on Jake, full of hatred, almost immediately.

Instead she smiled tucking a lock of her long red hair with gold highlights at the ends behind her ear.

"Good evening, Mistress Cassandra," she said smiling while addressing Cassie.

Jake groaned internally. She was so fake.

"What is it?" Cassandra asked.

"I came to inform you of your appointment in ten minutes and you're booked for the rest of the night as well," Miana said calmly.

"Ugh, I hate Wednesdays," Cassandra muttered "Gotta go Jakey and here I thought I'd get to bond with you,"

Jake groaned. "Ugh! Do you have to go? Sandra!"

Cassandra glared at him meaning 'Shut up if you want to take another breath'

Jake cringed. He loved breathing.

He then laughed as she continued to glare at him. "No, its just that its rare for me to see you so relaxed an playful and not Ms. Untouchable, mature and sophisticated," he smiled.

Cassandra smiled back. "Bye! Miana give him something to eat please! Thanks don't know what I'd do without you!"

Then Cassandra disappeared before Miana could protest.

Jake tried to suppress his rising panic.

Sandra had left him alone in the same room as the she- devil.

Miana stalked over to him, her happy demeanor gone, now replaced with a cold, calm and hopeful exterior.

"Miana," Jake said acknowledging her presence, staring at her.

"Jake," she returned, glaring at him, her green eyes full of disgust.

"Filthy hybrid. Unfortunately, I'm stuck babysitting your immature piggish self,"

"Well, bipolar witch, I'm pretty sure she just said to feed me but maybe your schizophrenic self is a bit deaf which would probably explain most of your ignorance and self- importance," Jake replied coldly.

"You always have a comeback, don't you?" Miana crossed her arms.

"You always insist on making my life miserable, don't you?" he returned.

She groaned and walked towards a cabinet, muttering under her breath.

Miana returned with a whine bottle in her hand and passed it scornfully to the boy, after pouring him a glass of blood from it.

Jake took it. "I would have to say thank you for your scornful courtesies," he said.

Miana stared at him.

"What?" Jake asked lowering the wine glass before it touched his lips.

"I just don't understand," Miana shook her head. "What is it about you that intrigues my Mistress so much? No matter what it is, once you're involved Lady Cassandra will come running. Why does she care? Why should she! You're disgusting, annoying and have filthy dog blood coursing through your veins,"

Jake stared at the liquid in his glass. Should he drink it? he contemplated before replying. "And? Are you sure none of this deals or has anything to do with your personal feelings or social or racial prejudice?"

"Are you trying to call me racist? I'm not!"

"Really?"

He was tempted to use sarcasm. You hate werewolves yet your saying your not racist. Go look at a Dalmatian while you're at it and tell it, it's not black and white, Jake thought. Or look at human blood and call it yellow. Talk about living in denial.

"I am completely neutral and only have Lady Cassandra's interest at heart. I care about my Mistress!" Miana said coldly "You're a distraction,"

Doesn't sound like it to me! Jake sang in his head. Especially because you hate her sibling. If you cared, why would you try to destroy something she loves?

"You're socially unacceptable. You're a hybrid and you are making her soft," she continued.

Jake almost laughed. Anybody that could say he made Kyle or Cassandra soft had to be loosing their sanity or hypnotized or maybe just plain unstable. They both had 'nice' sides, but that didn't stop them from being some of the coldest, most ruthless people he knew.

"So you're a fan Ms. Icy, Queen Untouchable and Sophisticated Cassandra?" Jake chuckled.

"She changed because of you, quite drastically too," Miana said through gritted teeth.

"Just because she's trying to be original and herself doesn't mean that change is all bad. Females rarely get as high as Cassie is now in society but just because of how society paints females should behave as sophisticated and out-of-reach doesn't mean she has to stick to our grounded vampiric and hard-to-break traditions. I'm proud of her and she's a bit of a feminist. You and I both know, nobody stops Sandra when she sets out to do something," Jake spoke firmly.

He looked at her as her scowl deepened. "What? Since we're playing the "Point out Jake's 'supposed faults game ", why don't you try to add immature and uninsightful to the list?" Jake said trying to suppress his laughter, knowing he had left her speechless. In the first place, who the hell did she think she was trying to judge him? He laughed.

"Why aren't you eating?" she suddenly said, after a long tense silence.

"Hmm," the boy looked up a she stared intently at him.

"Eat."

Jake shook his head.

"Listen and listen good," Miana growled " I was given simple instructions and I will not fail my task as a result of your incompetence,"

Jake shrugged."Eh,"

How did Cassandra put up with her? he wondered.

"Plus, don't you have a feeding problem? I wonder what the Madame would do if she found out you weren't eating," Miana said edgily.

Now it was Jake's turn to glare. She was blackmailing him.

The Witch.

He sighed and placed the cup against his lips, drinking from it.

He stood up but a sudden wave of nausea swept through him.

The half empty glass, fell shattering against the floor.

The blood drained from its remains joining the spots of blood from what he had spat out earlier.

"Thank goodness and here I'd thought I'd actually have to pin you down and force it down your throat," Miana sighed.

"What did you do!" Jake screamed, dropping to his knees.

"Taking steps to remove a distraction- an unwanted pest that keeps popping up!" she replied kneeling to his level, forcing him to look at her.

Jake winced as she grabbed him by his hair, as his body got weaker.

"Tell me, orphan, what is your reason for existence?" Miana said spitefully "Why won't you disappear?"

"You're sick," Jake said weakly, as her grip on his hair tightened.

Miana laughed. "You know its funny, you were just laughing at me a while ago, now the tables are turned. Who laughs last, really laughs the best,"

She released him and watched as e crumpled to the floor. The enchanted serum had worked perfectly.

Jake cringed as flashes of pain coursed through his body, then disappeared as it had come. Then he blacked out.

Miana watches his quiet suffering, her eyes never leaving him, as he passed out slowly.

A/N Yay! Update! School has slowed down since we're slowly approaching summer break. Which seems so far away! I want a vacation!!!

Anyways what did you think? What does Miana have up her sleeves? Will Jake survive? What will his vampire and/or werewolf do? How many people will Cassandra slaughter?
