CHAPTER 5- Castle

Jake gasped as he hit the ground, sliding backwards on his back, across the room.

He lay still, panting heavily as the clash of metal could be heard.

A blade pierced down on one side of his head, as a foot implanted itself into his chest.

The young woman crouched down, her fangs out and eyes red. "Another round?"

He panted. "Are you trying to kill me?"

Cassandra smirked. "Maybe. Best twenty one out of twenty three?"

"It's actually around thirty three out of thirty four. I'm going to die if we keep this up. You're a full-blooded vampire Cassie, and a vampire lord, I'm only part vampire," Jake breathed out.

The woman sighed, retracting her fangs. She honestly wanted to fight more but he was at his limit, if she kept this up, she'd kill him.

"Ok, get up and go take a shower," Cassandra sighed, giving a clap, watching the lights flicker on. She threw down the weapon and stepped off of him.

Cassandra ran her hand through her medium length brown- black hair. It was predominantly brown with darker , heavier almost black locks and steaks in it.

Jake sat up and winced. He was battered, bruised and exhausted.

He looked around the walled, dessert- like room.

Weapons littered the even dirt floor.

The training room.

Ugh, he hated this room. Jake had been trapped here, training with Cassandra, for over the past 24 hours. He had only won twice!! and that was because he had surprised her and set a trap before hand.

And then he had gotten his ass kicked the rest of the time.

He stood up. There was one door- the entry and exit point.

Cassandra had disappeared.

Moving at inhuman speed, he was in the bathroom adjoining his bedroom.

Stripping, he hopped in and let the warm water run down his head and cascade down his body, over his now healing cuts and bruises.

It didn't usually take him this long to heal. Damn it, Cassandra had really took her time to batter him good.

What was she doing? Experimenting to see the effects of how long it would take him to heal?

Jake knew his eyes flashed red as he got a bit angry. Ugh!

"What're you complaining about I was in half those fights and I took a lot of damage," Axel whined. "Why didn't you let me at least try and kill her?"

"It's called a sparring session, Axel. No killing, especially my sister," Jake said angrily.

"Fine," Axel sighed.

"Leave him be, Axel, or else," his wolf growled "You're annoying,"

"Whose side are you on anyway?" Axel said "What is this, gang up on Axel day? Don't you two dare take out your frustrations on me,"

"It's enough," Jake sighed "We're all tired. I know I didn't use my powers properly,"

"You got that damn right," his wolf and Axel said at the same time.

Axel continued. "You either never use your powers and push yourself to the limit or when you always hold back so much,"

Jake was silent as he soaped and rinsed off, stepping out of the shower.

He dried off, still silent, and changed into some clothes from the suit case.

Hhmm. At least, Cassandra knew what he liked.

Still silent, he threw himself onto the bed, levitating lightly before dropping onto it.

"What did I do?" Axel said at the sudden silence.

He closed his eyes, still silent.

* * *

"What's wrong with you?" his wolf asked.

Jake had no idea how long he had been like that for. He was on the bed , drifting in and out of consciousness.

"Nothing," he murmured. He just depressed as if - a part of him was being ripped away.
Something wrapped around him, pulling him closer. It was familiar.

"Cassie, what are you doing?" Jake tried to escape.

Cassandra sighed. When will he ever learn? He would give up soon enough. Jake could never escape her.
The boy gave up and let her embrace him "Why are you here?"

"I finished most of my duties for the day, so I thought that we could talk," Cassandra replied.

"Won't Miana kill you?" or me? he thought to himself, referring to Cassie's personal assistant/secretary. The female had taken an instant dislike to Jake but was careful to never show it around others - especially Cassandra.

"Nah, I may get a lecture but she can't even try that," Cassie smiled.

"How long do I have to stay here again?" He said looking out the window. It was night. He had been here nine days now.

"What, do you want to go to that dog house so badly?" She hissed, her grip tightening.

" You're hurting me!" Jake gasped. He was sure one of his ribs was close to being broken. He couldn't breathe. Air was a luxury he wasn't getting.

"Sorry," she released a bit.

Jake breathed. "I haven't seen either of you in a long time before a week ago and you know it," He didn't care about that at all - where he was going- but it was an opportunity to escape!
"When you so lovingly kidnapped me," Jake finished.

"Of course, little brother," Cassandra ruffled his hair. "It wouldn't be kidnap if you had come willingly, though,"

Jake sighed. She was hopeless and adamant and stubborn!

"I just hate that dumb mutt," she said.

"Hey, he's my brother and a werewolf and I thought- " Jake let her sentence sink in "HEY! I take offense to that!"

Cassandra chuckled. "You shouldn't, you're part vampire and Kyle - the dumb dog is not my brother or any relation to me by blood or by law, so I can say whatever I want,"

"I thought you should be used to each other by now. How long have you two known each other?"

"Fourteen."

"Fourteen and a half years," she said simply.

"You're kidding me," Jake sat up surprised.

"The only connection we have is you," she pulled him back down on the bed, hugging him again.

Jake's mother was a pure blood vampire/noble and his father, a full blood werewolf - Blue Moon pack's previous- now deceased Alpha. They were a common law couple.

Jake and Cassandra shared the same mother while Kyle is his only brother paternally.

Kyle and Cassandra were not related or even step siblings for that matter.
The only thing they have in common is the same half sibling - Jake.

Cassandra let go and turned him to look at her. "Little brother, don't do anything stupid," she said.

She could sense, an unrest in the atmosphere.

"Why do you say that?"

"Just promise me."

"I promise," Jake sighed then grinned. He flipped of the bed away from her.

He landed with his feet together and hands in the air. "Gymnast style!" before speeding towards the door. Sweet freedom.

Jake opened it and rushed forward, about to exit, when the door slammed shut. Straight....in........his.........face.

"Ow!"he murmured, dropping to his knees, slowly, his face sliding down the door.

"Ouch! What the hell Cassandra!"

Cassie had an amused expression on her face. "Did you honestly think you could escape me?"

Jake ducked as a piece of furniture flew towards him.

Cassandra Lykros, Eight Seat on the Vampire Council. Jake remembered how she had got there. She was a full telekinetic and a deadly telepath and even more ample in combat, recon and strategics.

"This isn't fair! Come on, I have someone I need to see," Jake sighed. He wanted to get away, Miana was near.

"Hm," was all Cassandra said.

Jake shivered. Whenever she did that, it never ended well, especially for him.

The door opened ajar a bit.

"Wow, thanks," Jake murmured. This was surprising. Instantly, the door swung open, taking Jake with it, and slammed into the wall.

Cassandra chuckled. Typical brother, let your guard down.

Jake slammed into the wall. "Cassandra , what the-" he stopped "Bye, see you later," before disappearing.

Just as Miana appeared in the doorway.

* * *

Jake levitated in front of two large double doors- tablet in hand.
He has found it after a brief burglary of Cassandra's office. She would kill him when she found out.

Who cared? This was an emergency!

He kicked the door down. "ALAN!" Jake screamed. "There's an emergency!"

The young man named Alan was levitating head down, feet up-upside down, eyes closed.
Before Jake could blink, Alan had flipped unto his feet and kicked down a door in his quarters, shotgun in hand.

All Jake saw was a red- eyed Alan with shotgun, standing in front of a door that looked like it had been blown off.

"What's the emergency?" Alan said."Are you hungry? Did somebody steal my cake! Don't tell me......"

"Um," Jake said as Alan advanced towards a refridgerator.

Using his foot he opened it and gasped. Then dropped to his knees. "NOOO!"

Jake rushed to his side. "What happened?"

Alan stood up slowly, he kicked back the gun and growled. "This isn't an emergency, this a burglary! They stole my ice cream! Somebody's going to die!"

He turned to Jake. "Thanks for telling me. Now if you'll excuse me, I have an ice cream thief to kill!"

"WAAIT! What are you talking about ?That's not the emergency! "Jake yelled.

Alan lowered the gun. "Wait, you mean you weren't going to tell me someone stole my ice cream?"

"NOOO!"

"THEN WHAT'S THE EMERGENCY?"

"Um,"Jake said sheepishly, he held up the tablet. "What's the Wi-Fi password?"

"Are you kidding me?" Alan looked at him "We have more pressing issues at hand, other than silly Wi-Fi. My ice cream's been stolen!"

"So? I'm a fourteen year old, bored boy! What do you expect me to do! Wi-Fi's more important!" Jake said.

"No! Jake my ice cream's been stolen. Ice cream is more important!" Alan retorted.

Jake opened his mouth to reply.

"Those both sound like pathetic reasons to me," a voice said.

Alan aimed the shotgun at them. "Did you steal my ice cream?" he said angrily.

Objects started to levitate around the room, as Alan's body lit up with red energy.

Jamie held his hands up in surrender. "N-no!"

He looked at the floating items. Alan was pissed. Was it what he said?

Alan really didn't make any jokes abut his ice cream.

"Ok, we know you're angry but can you drop all the floating projectiles?'' Jamie said.

Alan lowered the weapon. "Fine,"

Jake cringed and ducked out of the way as vases, lamps, knives and portraits clattered, shattering on the floor. He had almost been sliced like salami.

Alan was also telekinetic. A rare gift among vampires.

"And the shotgun?"

The gun disappeared.

Laughter filled the air.

Everyone turned to look at Miles.

He dropped to his knees and rolled over.

Jamie slid his hand across his throat mouthing 'NO!'

The desk next to Miles exploded.

He stopped still giggling. "T-That was the funniest thing I've ever seen. I'm dead,"

"You will be, if I found out you stole my ice cream," Alan said coldly, pointing a gun at him.

"Oh, come on, big brother," Miles whined.

"Wait, how are you two siblings?" Jake gasped. "I thought Lenny was your brother?"

"Well, he is technically. A vampire biologically can usually have one or two children," Alan explained. "However, there are two ways a vampire can be produced, you can be born or made,"

"I was human once," Miles piped up.

" And the man who helped conceive me, created him. Him and the rest of his kind," Alan growled now with a AK-47.

"What do you mean, I thought vampires could only have one or two children?" And don't born and made mean the same thing?" Jake said, slowly drinking in the information. If he had to take another of Cassandra's vampire 'HERITAGE' tests and he didn't know this. He might as well kill himself now. His tombstone was already made.

"Yes they can, there are exceptions though, like the Arias clan. Their females are highly fertile, compared to the usual low fertility of most clans. And no those words don't mean the same, not in this case anyways. We are 8 in total Jake," Lenny said walking in. "Six were turned into vampires and Allan's cold hearted towards them for some reason. Allan and I were born,"

The blonde turned towards Allan- his green eyes and demeanor perfectly calm. "Allan put the gun down,"

"You stay down," Allan said glaring at Miles who was getting up. "And not until I find out who stole my ice cream!'

This argument between Lenny and Allan continued for a while before Allan got rid of the gun.

Jake looked between the two as they continued to argue. Jamie sighed and shook his head leaving.

They weren't going to stop anytime soon.

"SHUT UP!" Jake suddenly screamed. "At least until someone puts the Wifi password in this device or the fridge gets it,"

Alan gasped. "Monster. You wouldn't dare!"

Miles stared at them. Was he hearing right? The fridge gets it?

He smirked. Alan got more crazy each day. It was fun.

Lenny sighed grabbing the tablet. He stopped. "You know the password's already in here, right? And you also have access to three other hotspots,"

"Oh," Jake said sheepishly. "UM, ok, thanks, BYE!"

He rushed off before Alan could retaliate to his threat.

* * *

YouTube.

One of the best sites ever.

Vines, music, funny videos. What else could a guy want? Jake thought as he listened Set It Off- Wild, Wild World.

He was lying down- on the ceiling anyways.

' A little love never hurt anything

We fight and we bleed, we live and we breathe

But we can change, we can change everything

We can change the world-'

Jake hummed along with it, but before they could go into the chorus again- a sharp pain struck him. Headache.

One of his hands clutched his head as another searing pain went through it again.

He lost his concentration and started plummeting. His thoughts stopped formulating properly.

However, he didn't hit the ground as someone caught him.

"W-what's going on?"

Jamie sat Jake in a sitting position, shaking him gently.

The boy's eyes were flashing red, then brown and were glazed over as this went on. It was as if he was in a daze- a trance.

"Jake what's wrong?" His body levitated before disappearing.

Without warning Jake stood up, fangs elongated and eyes red yet hazy.

His body levitated before disappearing.
