CHAPTER 19 - Sacrifice
Red droplets, fell to the blue watery floor, creating violet ripples which vibrated throughout the entire room.
"You don't know how to manipulate natural energy yet! Stop and listen!"
Luca huffed in frustration, watching as his fist healed from his efforts to shatter the barrier. Transparent glass had blocked off his communication with Jake, the pane becoming thicker as his host grew weaker. He sighed and stepped back, swallowing to soothe the pain in his throat from screaming. The image of Jake on the other side was motionless. None of his words had gotten through to Jake. He had still engaged the Earth Man. There was no choice, but that did not mean, Jake could not have tackled the situation better.
He slid down the glass, creating even more ripples as he sat in the quiet dark room, the cyan watery floor being the only source of illumination. Electric blue eyes looked up as a familiar feeling of static and warmth permeated the air. Blue spheres of light filled the room, each with its own recordings and images, replaying constantly in a frenzy-filled loop.
Oh come on! Luca thought.
"He's already been kidnapped, how else would you like to make this worse you crazy witch!" he yelled, seemingly to the empty air.
Harsh static filled the air in warning, a bizarre humming that grew stronger every passing second. Luca screamed in pain as the noise reached a frequency that pounded into his brain, leaving his ears ringing. Some of the floating spheres burst, causing his body to contort in pain. He chuckled darkly through the pain, as his body slumped to its side.
"That's the best you can do? I'm disappointed that this is what divinity has sunk too,"
Blood leaked from his ears and nose as the frequency hit a crescendo, dark spots began covering his vision.
"You're even a sarcastic prick to forces we can't screw with. I don't know if this should be impressive or reasons to end it," a familiar voice spoke.
Luca sat up, coughing, trying to clear the dark spots from his vision as creamy feet entered his vision. "I don't back down. Death also might be a better sensation than what we're about to experience. You should've stayed asleep, at least numb our awareness to it,"
The blue crystal waters turned red as Luca sat up to face glowing ruby eyes.
"Decipher it,"
"I can't," Luca shrugged chuckling, as he listened to the static that remained.
"I'll take the heads up if you won't," he huffed at the wolf as the atmosphere lit up in a violet hue- the watery floor still red.
"Ugh," Luca groaned as he felt energy leave him, racing in broken lines beneath some of the spheres. The blue light reached up and surrounded them in cages.
Axel sighed as he concentrated, letting his aura surround the room. The ones that were not held, instantly vanished. One particular sphere grew brighter and turned red, before lifting from its confines and floating to the vampire and werewolf.
"Was that so hard?" Axel asked as he lifted the orb.
Luca sighed again as the sound of static ceased. " Are you happy, you crazy-you know what, screw you,"
There was another high pitched sound, causing all untouched orbs and energy to immediately shatter into a burst of light and blue crystalline sparkles.
"Wow, she has a temper," Axel stated.
"You have no clue," Luca muttered as he looked through the glass, the image of Jake, beginning to move around.
"Shit!" Axel and Luca gasped simultaneously.
Jake began to glow in blue light, his reflection's eyelids closing. Luca banged on the thick glass again, trying to break the connection.
Axel pinched his nose bridge in anger, horror and frustration as the tape began to replay, screams slicing the quiet room in a loop of pure delirium. The screams were his, well his main counterpart.
Their body appeared in the red haze, strapped to a table as a hooded figure began to chant. There was an illumination of their restrained body, before pure pain tore it apart.
Axel could feel the disturbance in gravity and other physical forces as the energy consumed all, along with them. He gritted his teeth at the vision and threw the globe, watching as it shattered.
"Why? This is cruel,"
"I-" Luca lickeded his dry lips before continuing. "I really don't know what to tell you. This is why I didn't want you to see, but Jake will, as a dream about to become reality,"
"We need to switch now!" Axel whispered harshly.
"How? We're blocked off by whatever the hell is leaving him comatose and repressing our powers,"
"I'm just about real tired of this,"
"You and me both," .
"Why were you born to us? Do you like being with a soul whose destiny to suffer? Are you a masochist Luca, to the sadistic whims of your torture proned harlot of a goddess?!"
Silence was the only thing that met his request.
"And now we're back to square one of you saying nothing to me. I regret helping you," Axel spoke, each time his voice growing hardened and more frigid. "I'm going back to sleep. We're helpless right now anyways. Jake will call me if needed,"
Luca sighed as the irritated vampire walked off into the shadows to slumber. He followed shortly after to do the same. They would need their strength to survive this.

Alan sighed as he ran his fingers through his short hair. He levitated above the thick roving foliage, surveying the damage. Green wafts on light emanated from him, dissipating into the air.
Cold air kissed his ebony skin as he quickly whipped out his cell phone and dialled. The call immediately connected.
" Hi, listen. Get your shit together!!"
The person on the other end said nothing as Alan verbally tore into them.
"Why the hell can't you control your clan members? Do you have any idea how much damage I just had to clean up?! There was an unstable portal for heaven's sake!! The balance shifted!"
"And I'm supposed to control his actions? Do I look like his guardian?" a monotonous voice answered back.
"You're right, you have no legal obligation but you could've sealed him or at least put a leash on the child! He's going to break at this point,"
"I thought you already asked the Clan Head and Alpha to keep an eye on him,"
" They did it for a month and now the balance is quite literally screwed. Like you can't take your eyes off him for ten seconds,"
"This isn't my problem, Alan,"
Alan laughed hysterically at that. "This is my punishment for letting him have a childhood,"
He wiped a few bloody streaks from his eyes. This was a punishment from the universe for getting a buzzcut instead of treating himself to ice cream. Something always got messed up whenever he avoided his usual routine. Leon was wrong, he did not need a hair cut, but he had gotten it anyways.
Alan exhaled, before speaking. "Since you want me to get political, Assistant Head, I will bury you, you flipping midget,"
His eyes turned red as he spoke again, each word getting colder. "The Magnus clan will not abide by this disrespect of damaging the order of the physical realm. Unauthorized portals were created, causing disruptions in weather and possible discovery by humans. Nathaniel Lykros- Walker is responsible. If the Lykros clan refuses to accept responsibility and control your members, as Assistant Clan Head, I declare, the Magnus family will take action in your place to maintain order. If you can not find and control the child, I will,"
"Damn it, fine. Give me a couple hours,"
"Excuse me, bish?"
"I'll find him in an hour or so. That bastard couldn't have gotten that far into the ritual yet,"
"He's not actually trying to- no one could be that stupid! There are three active guardian clans for a reason,"
Silence met him as an answer.
"Holy mother of cheesecake. Clean up is going to be a pain in all the wrong places. Jake's suffering will be immense,"
"That's not my problem,"
"You could stand to have empathy for your cousin, Joshua,"
"Did you just try to lecture me about empathy, you crazed psychopath?" the voice on the other end snarled, his monotonous voice increasing in volume.
Alan held the phone away from his ear at the loudness. "Yes, my darling friend," he cooed. "Does our usual agreement stand?"
"This event will be removed from the Councils' records,"
"And from the clans' records as well,"
"That man puppet will also have to disappear," they said simultaneously.
"I do so enjoy our talks," Alan whispered. "You have my forgiveness for your previous indifference,"
"Didn't ask, don't need it, go f-"
Alan ended the call with a sigh, ceasing his aura flow. Males- no, individuals, in this day and age swore way too much. It was so uncivilized.
He looked down at the living foliage. It should be burnt without mercy and sent to the pits of the third abyss. He hesitated in its annihilation though. This was not his to destroy. Maybe Jake would have fun with it later.
He summoned a spear in a swarm of bats. He twirled the weapon in his hands before slicing the air. Green, fluorescent sparks appeared along the slice, slowly opening into a green void in the bright night sky.
Alan hummed as a pulse of psychic energy washed over the area originating from him. It strengthened the psionic cloak on the area and wiped the minds of any possible stragglers nearby as he flipped into the void. It immediately closed behind him, leaving the calm night as normal, moonlight illuminating the cold, decrepit concrete jungle.
* * *
Leon looked up from his book as he felt the static in the air. A queasy feeling boiled within him as he sensed the imbalance in physical energy. This static, he thought.
It had to be a Lykros. It could not be Cassandra. She might be young but she would never be unstable enough to leave this much rogue physical energy floating around. A portal to the Demos realm could open.
He slammed the book closed and sighed, his emerald eyes beginning to glow.
The static dissipated as quickly as it had come, the atmosphere returning to normal. He glared out the window, wondering about the differing energy that had closed it. The energy signature was there long enough to feel it.
What was Alan thinking?
He sighed and returned to his book. If the world started to burn, then he would intervene. If not, then screw it.
On the other side of the castle, Cassandra's eyes shot open and she immediately sat up.
The shift in the air and excess energy that had leaked into this realm came as bolts of static through her skin, leaving goosebumps. The energy signature that had caused it felt familiar.
Jake.
She snarled in frustration. What happened? He was not supposed to be able to access this yet!
Her first slammed against the desk, splitting it in two and obliterating both halves. She needed to find him and quickly. Cassandra sighed letting her aura flow.
She sifted through the physical forces and auras, slowly increasing her range. Each person appeared as a hazy blur with a red chord attached to them. She growled in frustration as her search proved to be fruitless. She sighed, this could take a while.
A sense of dread and anxiety rose within her as it twisted into a knot of negativity and self loathing at being so helpless to find him. He must be so scared at confused at the different energies his body was producing. Maybe she was not ready to be a parental figure.
I don't have time for this shit, she thought to herself, shoving down her doubts and insecurities.
She closed her eyes again and focused, searching for her younger sibling, each time expanding her range until he was found.

A humming capsule was placed on the stone slab. Its bright green hue clashed against the cold grey support it had found itself on. A broad red flower opened next to it, producing a blonde man with moss growing from his hair and green blades of grass seeming to hold it back in place. He sighed as he gazed around the grey room, markings and symbols decorating the room and its three pillars.
His fingers caressed the leaves of the plant of he sat on to occupy time as a groan echoed from the capsule. His head snapped up as the child twisted his resistance to the drugs kicking in. Where was that bastard? He did not have much time left.
Regev clucked his tongue in distaste as the the sound of clicking shoes was heard coming down the dark hallway. The vibrations in the earth rumbling through the earth echoed through his pet, alerting him to his existence long before the noises did.
"Prompt as always Earth dweller," the man stated with a boisterous laugh.
The other male said nothing.
"Still the quiet type, I see,"
"Does our agreement still stand?" Regev asked monotonously.
"Do you have what I asked for?"
"This is a who, not a what," Regev stated, opening the limbs of the capsule to expose the younger male's body, leaving only the plant attached to his face.
"You are right, not a what. That is definitely an it," the other man spat, as Jake groaned, his now unrestrained body twitching and shifting in his slumber. "Restrain him against the table,"
"My job is complete. Will you hold up your end of the bargain, Lord Ernestine?" Regev hissed.
"Hah, look who has finally grown a spine," the man gasped, his silver hair swishing behind him.
"You promised to safeguard my people, so yes, I have," Regev said, vines rising from the plant he sat on. "Unless you plan to go back on your word?"
"Of course not," the other male laughed boisterously, turning around, his cloak sweeping behind him. "Your secret is safe with me. You may take your leave, Earth Dweller,"
"Of course," Regev muttered, retreating down the route the lord had just come from. He removed the breathing mask from the child's face, causing him to stir as his oxygen intake increased. He would never understand Vampire culture. His pet vibrated beneath him, sensing the oncoming danger as he rubbed circles in its petals to calm it. "No worries, pet. That fool will meet his end soon and tie up all loose ends for us,"
There was a hum, as the autonomous plant leapt into the night, silver beams bouncing off its glossy leaves, before tunneling into the soft earth.
* * *
A fluorescent blue orb of energy, lifted from the violet aqueous surface creating ripples before lifting into his awaiting hands. It felt warm as it shrunk so his hands covered it. Jake sighed, concentrating before it glowed red. The image started from the beginning with him strapped horizontally to a table. He sighed as two silhouettes appeared above him conversing.
"As required I procured it, sir," the one on the left stated.
"After, a seemingly endless amount of absolute failures. I had to clean up the remaining 'semi-professionals' at the school,"
"I do apologize, but I had thought-"
"I care not," the second shadow hissed. "I will no longer intervene. You will handle this yourself,"
Their words became more blurred and incoherent causing Jake to furiously shake the globe. What the heck? He expected less clarity because his wolf and vampire were absent but not this level of half baked vision.
"Goodbye, Lr- scrr-,"
The orb broke up the words causing Jake to shake it furiously again before tossing the stupid thing, listening in satisfaction as it shattered against the aqueous surface before sinking into the watery depths.
He sighed and ran his hand through his hair and held the back of his neck. So he was looking at two final assailants and he was beyond unconscious. He stood for a few moments piecing together in his head. There was no way he was going to make the mistake of assigning gender with the creatures of the monster world. Gyges was way too unpredictable with that factor. These were most likely old vampire or high ranking demons by the way the spoke. No low level monster would be dumb enough to screw with him, or would know much of his existence for that matter. Who though? The problem was, he did not know that many high level vampires, none that he had taken enough notice of anyways. Why were Luca and Axel quiet? How much did he exhaust himself?
There was not enough information. What kind of stupid 'vision' gave stupid silhouettes instead of people and gave broken audio like a video that had lost its quality due to a weak signal?
Was this not supposed to be some mystical, stupid new ability? Why did it function like it had shitty Wi-fi?
Whatever deity is screwing with me, must find this hilarious, Jake thought, gritting his teeth, as light pierced his darkened vision. His head snapped up, replaying the images to carry it into the waking world. He closed his eyes in preparation as his body was thrust into a blue haze.
His body twisted and turned as images of two silhouettes, his body contorting in pain and familiar symbols danced in his mind before his eyes snapped open.
Jake gasped, taking large gulps of clean air as he tried to sit up. His body strained before remaining in position. His arms were stretched away from his sides to his shoulder height. Blurry eyes cleared up as his head snapped from side to side, taking in the visual information.
A single tower stood on either side of him with symbols and markings on it. Spirals marked the towers, running into the stone floor beneath as far as he could see, to the hard slab he lay on. Nope, not gonna think about that, Jake thought. The sounds of metal scraping against metal echoed in the silent derelict room, south of his feet.
Great, so his captor was with him. This was perfect. Jake swore in French and English before inhaling to calm himself. He did not have time for this, no matter how fun and colourful English swear words were.
Calm down and think. You have been trained for this, he mentally slapped himself. Cassandra would be disappointed if she ever found out.
He replayed the visions his conscious mind could recall. There were at least two of them. Something nagged him though about the room. The symbols and markings reminded him of something important in Sylrica. What was it? It was the language!
'Accept this o' universe, bless this cup. Bless its blood and grant our wishes, oh beautiful Gyges'
Shit! Jake thought as his mind translated it. He struggled, tugging at the restraints uselessly as the table hummed, sapping his strength.
His nose detected no greenery, meaning the Earth Man had already delivered him to whoever had put out the hit on him.
I wonder how much I'm worth, Jake wondered. If I'm worth all this trouble, I would've turned myself in and taken the reward and let Cass rescue me. Wait, is that legal?
His thoughts were cut short as a chuckling man approached. "Do you sense you fate, thing?"
Oh great, another self-righteous prick. This was going to be a wonderfully torturous experience, he thought, mentally preparing himself. Obviously he wasn't raised by two S-ranked monsters and Gate Keepers to know a sacrificial room when he saw one.
Jake exhaled slowly, trying to make himself seem fearful before speaking. "N-no. What's happening? W-Where am I? P-please don't hurt me, Sir,"
He mentally gagged at that last word, but kept his revulsion to himself. Hopefully his performance was enough to convince someone else who would most likely be trained to recognize and read body language. He definitely overdid it a bit with the stuttering, especially on the 'W's'. Who stammers on one letter when nervous? That was a B-ranked performance at best, but if his siblings, S-ranked monsters, could fall for his misdirection and pranks, this pompous buffoon should be no problem That did not matter when he was dealing with arrogant pricks, but better safe than sorry.
Boisterous laughter echoed from the creature as he came forward into Jake's line of sight. Red eyes full of contempt, framed by long silver hair glared down at him before speaking. "This is a sacred room, you are sullying. You should be honoured to even touch it,"
Wow. I mean it's part of my birthright as part of one of the three Gate Keeper families, and I have no idea who you are, you nutcase. Who really has right to be here, you trespassing snow prick? Jake thought before his thoughts were cut off by the arrogant bastard's gloating.
He produced a ceremonial knife shaped like a scalpel, laying it next to the struggling boy on the table before putting on a pair of gloves. "I have waited centuries for this moment. Searching for the sacrifice rooms the Lykros and other Gate Keeper families have so carefully tried to conceal and with a little help and some luck, I found it,"
Christ, he's monologuing. Haha. I haven't seen this since I was twelve, Jake thought amused, still struggling. At least he was making it look realistic. He knew struggling was useless, the slab held him fast and would keep feeding on his energy every time he leaked a little aura. His vampire and wolf were dormant and his body was wracked in pain as his muscles contorted from his actions.
"They selfishly hold unto all the power. Energy manipulation, portal creation. Such important tasks, to keep balance in our very world should not be handed off to such young inexperienced fledglings. And no one is allowed to take it,"
How are they supposed to learn, if old covetous idiots like you never let them learn and make mistakes? Are 200+ year old vampires still too young for you? What the heck did this guy consider 'mature' then? A century is enough for most clansmen to reach full maturity, Jake thought. Obviously you have been alive for way too long and now you're feeling suicidal.
The young male turned his head from the vampire's ramblings to hide his disgust. His scent was also disgusting, like an old coin purse that sat in the sun too long.
"Too think that Cassandra was arrogant enough to join the council. She really is a disappointment for a clan that specializes in information and reconnaissance,"
Bitch, bite your tongue! Jake growled in his mind, clenching his eyes shut. He could not be sure that his rage had not shifted their hues and revealed himself. He could not let this man think he was a threat, just yet.
Cassandra knew. He chuckled sadly. It had never crossed his mind to even ask why she had taken a job that overburdened her to sort out centuries of drama of the Council or one that left her with a constantly weary smile. This old bastard was obviously a vampire Lord if he sat on the council as well. How many old fools did Cassandra have to work with?
"No matter. I shall soon have the dormant powers inside you, young Clan Head,"
"I thought you said t-that a Gate Keeper's powers could not be taken," Jake spoke up while screaming internally. This male is an idiot. He was not the Clan Head!
"Not from one that is already awakened," the white haired male said. "Despite the unfortunate circumstances of your birth, you are the only unawakened male in the Lykros clan,"
"Unfortunate circumstances?" the child asked, bottling his emotions further. He knew he was probing a festering wound but could not help himself.
"No decent clan woman would ever lay with a filthy beast,"
Jake's clenched, fearful body erupted in laughter as his bottled up amusement came free. His cackled hysterically, as his body trembled with pure delight. There was so much wrong with this male. He knew this man was living and clinging to the idea of a 'pure vampire' race but he could not help himself from laughing at it. He did not know if to be offended by his sexism or everything else he said or to find his ignorance hilarious. It was like a more hard core version of Miana.
"Oh sweet Goddess, now you see why it was so hard for your men to corner me. You are the prime example of the same bullshit, archaic thinking that stands for everything wrong with most pureblood vampires. The 'pure' bloodline you're so proud of produces retards like you and weakness. Did you guys devolve into incest yet to keep it 'pure' with your low birth rates? I mean, if we're dead set on being backwards let's pull out ALL stops. This is why I'm never in Sylrica or most places in Gyges, to avoid stupidity like yours. Well, not quite like yours. You're on a level on your own when it comes to stupidity," Jake cackled before grunting as the scalpel came down in his arm.
He winced before continuing as the other man twisted the knife in his arm. "I won't spoil the surprise for you, but I will tell you this, my parents had sex," he emphasized as the blade slid down to his wrist, spilling his blood onto the stone floor. "Does my bluntness about the 'unclean' upset you? Or are you upset that you couldn't get your own dick wet, so you're mad my mom got to have sex before she died? You'll die a sad, miserable virgin,"
Another stab attacked his abdomen, tearing it open. "Quiet,"
Pain wracked Jake's senses as his open wounds pulsed and poured thick crimson liquid on the floor. The stone slab beneath him vibrated even harder. Yet another sacred place that disrupted his powers. His head snapped back to meet the elder vampire's eyes. "Aw, look at you, you little power hungry mongrel. Isn't it ironic that you're stealing power from an 'it', an 'unclean' thing?"
"It's not the same thing," he growled.
"It's not? I have my daddy's disgusting dog blood flowing through my veins. I'm not a 'pure' vampire. Those gloves won't do much to protect you against the splatters on your face, though. Hypocrisy must taste delicious, if you're licking your lips like that,"
Ernest's eyes widened as ruby ones stared calmly back at him as he continued to stab the child. Did he not feel pain? Why was he no longer terrified? Bloody droplets decorated his face and lips. He tried not to swallow the disgusting liquid to give himself reason to spit and sully the ceremony.
"Does this upset you? You underestimate how much pain I can tolerate. You can thank yourself and your fellow scum for that, Lord," Jake spat in the same condescending tone. "I'm so used to you sadists torturing me by now. Oooh, my blood is running through the drains. What are the pillars for?"
He smirked as he feigned ignorance while the blood loss started to make him delirious. Was this what it felt like to be drunk? The male moved away from him, flying up towards a circle that stood between the two pillars on the ceiling.
"Are you sure you have enough? I mean you've crossed so many lines, pretty sure no one will raise eyebrows at the old man stabbing a young boy with his metal rod at this point," Jake called out. "Aren't you even going to give me your name, dear noble?"
Jake chuckled to himself, resisting the pain that threatened to overwhelm him, as dark spots danced in his vision.
Indigo light radiated from beneath him as his blood rolled off the slab, entering the spiraling tunnels in the stonework. The crimson liquid, followed the spiraling pattern, pooling around the twin towers. A scream left his lips, threatening to knock him unconscious as his stab wounds pulsed and more blood poured from them. His muscles tensed and his heart rated sped up as he clenched his fists trying to resist the ritual's demand on his body for more of his blood. He continued talking, trying to stay conscious. Verbally tormenting this hypocrite was the only pleasure he would have from this horrific experience and he would have his fill.
He grinned, his canines lengthening into fangs before he continued talking. "Hey, Whitey, I just want to say that I really respect that you're sticking to your ideals. Not many people go this far to prove how stupid they are. Gotta admire that admition, wait, I think the word is ambition. Hah, I'm so high, I forgot English for a moment. Whitey, do you speak French or any of the other six languages I do? Or do you speak only English and retarded hypocrisy?"
"Do you ever shut up!" Ernest screamed.
"No, not really. Is it the nickname that's annoying you? Listen, you can't, urgh, gag me because-" Jake coughed, spitting up blood. He groaned. "Yeah that stuff. I was going to say something but that explains it. Also this sacrifice table is doing a better job than you. Gotten your beloved powers yet?"
Ernestine sighed, shutting out the child as he raised a hand, chanting in Latin as the blood rose up the spiraling columns. Just a little while longer and he would have gotten rid of two problems.
"Oi, don't ignore me. Your racist company is oh, so enjoyable!" Jake yelled before coughing up blood again. Damn, even his body knew that one quip was too much for it too handle. "I mean one of us is gonna die, let's keep each other company while we wait,"
His body twitched in pain as the indigo light spread from the table, quickly flooding the bloody spiral channels that flowed outwards, up the pillars and into the circular ring on the ceiling. The light created a warmth that spread from his feet that spread up to his head as warmth seeped into his bones. His eyes turned indigo at the power surge as he stopped chanting and began to laugh as the child went quiet. His fluttered close as his senses alighted. He could feel every atom in the room and their vibrations. The room opened up to area, every non- living material had its own vibrations and voice. He grunted as they whispered and floated in his head slowly becoming a great din before they ceased and opened to an image of the universe in all its grandiose glamour. Light circled him, as imaged of black holes and ancient stars danced together to form a map. His mind followed it, seeking the treasure at the end.
Jake bit into his lip, causing more blood leaking into the glowing light. His body racked in indescribable pain. Nothing he told himself mentally could prepare him for it,as every muscle throbbed and strained. It felt like someone was pounding him with a thousand hammers at once. His head lolled to the side as the pain won, pushing him into the realm of unconsciousness for a few moments. He shook himself awake, watching as indigo streaks of lightning surrounded the circular diagram. A stupid grin was plastered across the elder male's face.
Jake glared at him as his rage built to a crescendo. This was his fault. He was suffering because of this demented jerk. The more he saw that idiot enjoying himself, the angrier he got. The almost filled cup containing his emotions ran over as the drips of his rage filled it, till the fluid caressed the edges of the cup and flowed outwards pouring into the physical world. His fangs bit into his lips again as his eyes glowed. His heart rate was impossibly fast. Red bolts of electricity seemed to dance from his body, snapping the restraints as he sat up, his hand clenching his chest. He gasped, fighting to keep control as his hatred ran rampant. This man needed to suffer. He reached out as his mind blanked, a calm purple atmosphere graced by crystal blue waters appeared before him. His hand touched something cold and solid like a glass pane. That was only temporary as it cracked and a boy of his reflection peaked through.
Axel smiled back at him, intertwining his fingers with his own, as glass shattered before him, each shard creating tiny rainbows of light as they fell into the watery surface and disappeared. "You called?"
"I want to-"
"I know," his vampire replied. "Do as you please, once we have his head,"
He smiled back as Axel turned into a warm buzz of red light, that circled and merged with him, before returning to the conscious world.
Jake's hand grasped air before balling into a fist. His heartbeat accelerated even more as he exhaled, glowing ruby eyes staring at the bastard.
What do you wish for? A warm feminine voice asked sinking into his mind.
He got to his feet, standing on the sacrificial slab. His body screamed in a pain but he was too angry to care. "I, Nathaniel Lykros- Walker of the Lykros clan reject this filthy cretin and hereby condemn him for breaking the Laws that balance the cosmos and defiling the principles of Gate Keepers. On behalf of the second Guardian House, I beg for assistance and absolute painful judgment to be cast,"
Red lightning immediately responded to the child's summons. It cackled, growing closer to the older male, stray sparks devouring the remnants of Jake's blood from every crevice of the spirals.
His halberd appeared, swinging through the air towards the male. Ernest seemed to awaken from his stupor in time to dodge it. The blade hurtled through the air before slamming into the table Jake stood on, splitting it in half. He felt his wounds begin to heal as he hopped down from the table, taking a few steps back as the floating vampire glared down at him condescendingly.
"You annoying brat, you destroyed my ceremony,"
Jake said nothing, cocking his head to the side as the man summoned daggers. "You want power? That can be arranged,"
The young hybrid did not move a muscle as the angry older male, flew toward him quickly, intent on ripping his heart from his chest cavity. There was a cackle as pure static filled the air. Ernest stopped just before reaching him as a giant bolt of red lighting flashed before him, barring him from his quarry. Jake exhaled again letting his emotions run rampant. His hands tingled as he summoned a bow to it. His aura consumed it eagerly, leaving a bright red aura weapon. He pulled back on the string of the weapon, his life force forming a spiky, twitching aura arrow. The other male was cornered, floating above the sacrifice table as red lightning consumed the room, caging the older male. Jake fired into the man's heart as the indigo eyes glared at him, before his body fell.
Ernest screamed as he hit every bolt of lightning from his cage on his way down before his back landed on the halberd. He gasped as the sharp end of the blade tore through his spinal cord. Pain prevented him from moving too much. Every movement he made, sapped more of his strength. He attempted to use telekinesis to remove himself, only for lightning to strike him for his efforts.
In one movement, Jake was above him, jumping on the male's chest, causing the sharp edge of the blade to devour even more of the male's back. His head shook from side to side slowly, trying to cease the pain. Jake cocked his head to one side, looking down at him. "Is this everything you hoped for? One minute you're a keeper of order, the next you're flat on your ass. Does it hurt?"
The older male coughed up blood and gurgled. This was not enough. His suffering was to light. Jake's angry, tired mind went into overdrive as his brain sifted through torturing methods. One of them stood out the most. He chuckled as four large rods appeared behind him. "Death by impalement. I mean, it's a bit simple but enough for such an elegant culture that demands blood,"
He watched as the silver-haired man, struggled to rise, before one of the rods implanted in his thigh, pinning it to the lower broken half of the sacrificial slab. The older male bit his lip to keep from screaming. "Aren't you supposed to have deity level powers now?" Jake quizzed hopping off the table and levitating in the air. "Break your invisible confines. Attack me, you false god. Where are the powers you were promised?"
Jake smiled as the man glared at him again, with the same eyes of contempt. He snapped his fingers, causing one of his arms to be impaled as his eyes burned, pulsating in their sockets. "Indigo really isn't your colour, you no longer need this. Your eyes don't deserve to see the world in its truest form,"
He watched in fascination as the man eyes bled, crimson and indigo fluid, mixing together before flowing from his sockets, leaving glazed dark orbs. The fluid mixed with the blood from his oozing wounds, entering the spiraling channels.
Ernest felt his body weaken as the connection he had felt to the previous realm shattered. His brief despair turned into pure rage, directed at the hybrid.
"Hey, Whitey. Remember when I said one of us was going to die here? Well, it's not gonna be me," Jake sang, kicking his legs back and forth in a sitting, levitating position. "I'm gonna let you in on a secret or five before you die though. I mean you were a douche, but I'm nice enough to keep a sacrifice company. You know it's the humane thing to do, in addition to giving you a few more stabs before those rods pound into you,"
A circle of blades materialized in the air, each of varying sizes, all with serrated edges. One implanted themselves in his abdomen as the hybrid continued speaking. "Where do I start? Your friend lied to you and is using you. I'm not the Lykros Clan Head or Assistant Clan Head. Or should I tell you that this little stunt would be highly impossible without my consent or my clansmen? There's a reason why Sacriages- these rooms are kept secret. If I knew you were going to pull this bullshit, I should have went for the guy behind you instead of dealing with such as ingrate first,"
"Lies!" Ernest hissed at the child.
"But I don't lie," Jake stated. "Are you that deeply ingrained into the racist neuroses and backwards thinking you were taught growing up by an archaic Council, that it renders you incapable of thinking? Wait, don't answer that. It always pains me to say that all of you are the same. I mean, for goodness sake, why do you people assume because I'm a boy, I'm carrying my family's bloodline? That's pretty sexist. And not just normal sexist, that's like in a league of its own and just dumb. You passed over the first born like an idiot. You just assumed she got a rank because of her family's name and not skill or that I would stand for your bullshit of constantly insulting her!"
Five of the daggers implanted themselves into Ernest, each impaling a major organ as he coughed up more blood.
"Oh sorry, I kinda lost my temper. What am I saying? I'm consumed by anger but if I let it control me and spread your entrails around this room, then the family's guardian wouldn't obey me. That's not something you need to know about though. Sacriages are only used for a transfer of powers between Guardian clansmen. If one person cannot bear the weight of it, they hand over the mantle to a family member. Outsider surrogates can be used but they must be recognized and recorded on the family's registry. Furthermore, consent, drawn in blood- like every damn thing is with you pure bloods- must be given. This is like the second thing you learn when you're born into a Gate Keeper clan. In exchange for keeping balance, they are given dominion over the power to create portals and control the energy that flows through all five parts of Gyges,"
Jake inhaled as the intensity and frequency of the red streaks of lightning increased. "This kind of bullshit is the reason why I stay at the pack house or human school or alone so I can avoid dealing with most of you racist, arrogant pure blooded assholes. I did not expect that the most stupid of them all would be the reason I'M IN SO MUCH PAIN! IT'S LUDICROUS! I DESPISE YOU, YOU RIDICULOUS FU-"
Jake inhaled again. "You know what swearing is so uncouth of me and now I'm monologuing too. I should at least observe some of the etiquette you have observed your entire pitiful life. Here's what, tell me who your friend is and I'll give you the bliss of death to end the torment you're about to experience. You've been insufferably deceived,"
Ernest exhaled as the blasphemous information assaulted his ears. How could he have been lied to? Consent? Please! There was no ceremony that ever used such a thing. He was told that he would be able to obtain power in this place, yet this filthy half- ling would command the energy of this room. It was impossible.
He groaned, coughing up more blood as he used his uninjured left hand to prop himself up.
Months of preparation could not have been for naught! That simply means that he was after the wrong target. He would simply retreat for now. There was no way-
"Hey, Whitey, are you mad? Ooh, it looks like you caught a second wind," Jake said amused as he watched the older male struggle to rise. "Maybe this isn't painful enough for you?"
The third of the thick rods implanted themselves into his struggling arm, pinning him back against the table. A scream escaped him.
"Are you frustrated or was that painful?" Jake asked, firing all his remaining weapons as the male gurgled and screamed. "Here's what, I'll forgive you, if, before the 'thing' sitting before you, you kneel. Since we are doing the entire etiquette thing, it is the way of clansmen to kneel before a stronger one and especially a revered Guardian. Come on, Whitey, kneel,"
Something in the man snapped, causing him to scream and yell insults. Jake was certain it was in Latin but his ranting beneath his gurgles and coughing up spurts of blood made the male mostly incomprehensible.
"Does it upset you that much? " Jake mocked. " I was kidding, it's not like you can move anyways. And here I was willing to show you mercy. Never let it be said that I don't give chances. You know I hate you, with every ounce of my being but I'm just about at my limit. If this doesn't kill you, then else someone will. Feel my hate, my disgust and my burning anger as your very soul trembles before me,"
Ernest flinched as his cold red eyes cast down upon him with a last glance before turning away. The lightning increased in intensity, each bolt attacked him, knocking the air from his lungs. His blood pooled around the pillars before quickly rising up the spiraling grooves. Brown light emanated from it, quickly consuming the room.
The boy sighed dropping to his feet as his concentration broke. "Destroy his soul, the sentence is: devouring. Afterwards, burn this place to the ground and banish it from my sight," Jake commanded.
This place is sacred, young master. It can still-
"I care not. Do as I say," Jake demanded. "I can promise you that no one of this generation will perform a transfer. The next generation will decide and in that case, it can be rebuilt,"
Do you accept the Lykros blood and the fate of a Gate Keeper? Then, show me your resolve, young hybrid.
He summoned a dagger to his hands and held out his left wrist as a red apparition with long flowing locks appeared before him. He sighed, sliding the dagger across his wrist slowly. "I, Nathaniel Lykros- Walker, swear to accept fate and accept the Gate Keeper blood that courses through my veins. I solemnly swear thus before the Lykros guardian, with my blood as proof. Like everything with damn vampires"
He muttered the last part beneath his breath, however, it did not go unheard.
The blood from his wrist dripped to the floor, as the wispy apparition circled him, flames rising from the floor as the male in the background continued scream.
You request will be granted, the apparition whispered. Child, never summon me again without a full fledged Lykros present. You are too inexperienced. I will make exception this once to rid us both of this sacrilegious fool. You shall be assisted soon. For now, return to your world, if you can.
She disappeared in a flash of light, before circling the entire room. Everywhere she touched was immediately engulfed in flames. She flew in a spiral as Jake dragged himself down the bright passage towards the outside. He ignored the feminine giggles, focusing on putting one foot infront another as familiar exhaustion consumed his muscles. He could feel the heat at his back as the feminine laughter became more malicious. The warmth of the sunlight bathed him as he finally stepped through the entry way.
Ernest gurgled, no longer having the energy to scream as a wispy red feminine ghost appeared before him. She clucked her tongue. Poor fool. Judgment has been passed. I will now have you.
Beads of sweat coated his body as the room grew hotter, brown light still emanating from it. Air left his lungs as he felt his energy being sucked out.
The female giggled as he gasped and groaned as she consumed his soul making him grow weaker and weaker. Its colour was a pale red, such a poor colour. She watched as his eyes widened and glazed over as she consumed its last remnants. Flames consumed his withered remaining corporeal shell before engulfing the rest of the room, stone and all.
