Chapter 15- School (PART I)

She flipped down the hallway as needles were spat out of the walls.

As soon as her feet hit the floor- not loosing momentum- Constance sprung unto the table.

Still moving and using it as a launching pad she leaped up to the hole in the ceiling to the attic- using the walls closing in on her, as launching pads- never leaving either foot on the wall structure for more than a second.

She pulled herself up into the dark space. Taking a deep breath, she pressed forward carefully.

As much as Constance hated it, she had to finish, it was the only way out.

On instinct she twisted out of the way as a long sharp object came hurtling towards her neck.

I don't have time for this bull shit, she thought, leaping unto a table and from object to object- a safe, a generator, a grandfather clock.

It was safer to stay away from the ground.

A tall figure blocked her path, as well as the opening of light.

It's body of metal gleamed in the light.

The faceless head consisting of only two red empty eyes, glowed and blinked.

It was shaped like a man, only it wasn't organic in anyway and ten times more lethal.

Constance felt her frustration grow. Escaping traps the whole morning and now a flipping android. He had really overdone it.

Her anger started to peak. She unsheathed her sword-

Taking another deep breath, she calmed herself.

She was frustrated as hell but she knew exactly who she could take it out on.

The robot raised its arms- one had a gun, the other had a jagdkommando titanium tri-dagger knife. One of the deadliest in the world.

No words needed to be said.

It only had one priority- attack and kill.

It had no other objective.

And now it had a target.

Constance hummed as she wrapped a bandage on her upper arm, the smell of Pop Tarts wafting through the air.

She enjoyed the little moment of peace she had by herself in peace and calmness, before he came.

"Did you finish?" came a rough gruff voice.

Constance swore in the back of her mind as she finished her bandaging.

At least, it was better now. Over the years she had gotten better at succeeding the death traps over the years her injuries decreasing over the years. They still left her with a few scars.

"Yes," she said simply, turning to take her four Pop Tarts out of the toaster.

"For your sake you had better not be lying. Did you completely finish?"

She turned around and looked intently at the bulking, muscular man obscured in the shadows. "Yes, I did,"

With that, she grabbed her school bag and Pop Tarts and left.

All he ever did was train her.

Grooming her slowly to become his replacement.

Their house was like a business- an area of professionalism.

There was to be no joy, no happiness- NO LOVE.

It was only meant to be shelter and training ground.

He and the organization provided her with clothing and shelter.

In exchange she had to upkeep it- clean and cook for him- but not for herself.

She had to do a small job to feed herself or hunt.

Curbing her survival instinct they said.

The man who conceived her, couldn't even be considered as strict. It was far too lenient and far off term for him. He never helped her with her injuries. She had to fix herself, even if she was bleeding out.

Discipline was to be enforced. Rules were to be followed at all times. She had limited use of Wi- Fi.

Failure and insubordination would not be accepted. The only escape she had was school, but that was another story.

Home was a prison but school was an entirely different hell and war zone, in it's own league.

His body temperature slowly increased.

Metabolic processes went into over drive inducing the sweat glands to produce their mixture of urea, water and other chemicals to try to cool the body down.

This was followed by calm, paced breathing despite the fact that his heartbeat was irregular and required much more oxygen to function.

"Why the hell is Jake an immobile meditator currently?" Axel asked at the back of his mind.

"Training," Luca replied simply.

"I'm just going to put question marks and confused emojis behind that word, since it doesn't explain shit," Axel said pointedly.

"Despite everything, I'm still a Freeman. I have to develop my Pointe technique amd energy manipulation skills. Plus I have to avenge the old woman's death."

"It doesn't seem to be very useful-" his vampire said plainly.

"It's reason why you weren't screaming the instant the Witch's soul sucking toys attacked you. Our boy has a little resistance to energy theives. To strengthen that, meditation and strengthening the mind is the first step," Jake replied.

"What makes you think that you'll find the killers?"

"I'm pretty sure it's the CLA and I've been meditating for hours."

"Clumsy Assassination League?" Axel laughed "Really?"

"Killing the Beldam's the only thing they've accomplished so far," Jake said.

"Remember what I said about serious adversaries?" his wolf asked.

"Well, they aren't as of current, Luca," Jake protested.

"So? Maybe they're just testing us. Don't put them under the radar just yet. They might send someone high level next time you won't be able to hold back on," Luca replied.

"Luca!" Axel and Jake yelled.

"What?"

"I mean seriously why!"

"You're horrible! Of course he knows you have to look at everyone with six jars of salt!" Axel said.

"Wait, so now both of you are on my case?" Luca said in disbelief "And I thought the expression was 'Look at people with a spoon of salt',"

"Who cares! You just jinxed us. Whenever you say shit like that it always comes true!" Axel said peeved.

The wolf was about to say something.

"Hey no talking back. I'm going to be on your case the whole day. It's Wednesday," Axel said.

"Oh. It's really annoying though," Luca pointed out.

"So what, it's fun. If you hate it, sue me," the vampire shot back.

Jake opened his eyes. "Shit! Did you just say its Wednesday? Already! I'm gonna be late for school,"

"Jake, the 12 o' clock hour passed seven hours and thirty minutes ago," Axel said bored.

"You had to let him know, didn't you?" Luca said crossly to Axel.

"Eh," was the reply.

"Hey," Jake said "I thought you being my wolf meant having a tiny disciplinarian.......constantly.....at the back of my mind..........for the rest of my most likely.......long unnatural life,"

"You're just realizing that now? Don't worry I am, I'm just not in the mood for school today. But jeez, did you have to be so sarcastic and make it sound like torture?" Luca said offended.

"You should know the answer to that," Jake sang, getting up. "And that's worse than torture. I give my lifespan 250 years with your nagging,"

Axel giggled as the wolf growled.

Later should be interesting when they went at each other's throats. It was just a shame, he couldn't have popcorn to watch.

* * *

"Well, look what karma dragged in after being MIA for weeks," the female companion sassed "I swear I was about to file a missing person's report on you,"

"Really?" Jake asked hopefully.

"Yeah, if I didn't see you for the next six months."

"Connie, seriously?" Jake sighed, as his friend laughed at her own joke.

"Hey you've done it before," Connie said seriously.

Yeah, when I was kidnapped and tortured by a cult to be a sacrifice for a black moon, Jake thought, laughing nervously.

"And why is the topic suddenly on me?" Jake said to the white- haired girl "You've been the one acing like a deflated balloon the entire day,"

"No I haven't!" the girl protested, her green eyes glaring as her cheeks tainted red.

"Ok, Ms.Tsundere are you going to protest, get defensive and try to hit me again? I need to know. Kinda have this catchphrase I wanted to use for you."

"I do not try to hit you!"

"Of course not-" Jake started sarcastically.

"No, please stop the sarcasm!" Connie pleaded.

"So that time I ended up at the bottom of a flight of stairs because of your reflexes and you were so worried you dragged me to the nurse's office and still did my homework for a month because you were really apologetic, was all my imagination? Huh, maybe I should go get the report from Ms. Matthew," the boy said sarcastically "That day something was wrong that put you on 'auto kill' mode. I asked and you didn't say. And that was one of two strikes. Here I thought we learned our lesson about not warning our best friend when he needs to keep his distance or actually help you. Need I continue?"

"Kill me now," Connie sighed in defeat.

"Alright, tell her tilt that yummy neck a bit more to the right and I'll see what I can do," Axel said.

Jake ignored him.

"Or does she want her neck snapped?" Luca piped up.

Jake ignored that too. Honestly.

"You don't have to tell me if you don't want to. I'm not going to get up and personal in your business but I like not feeling pain, so I'm going to do the fall back game now," Jake said slowly backing away "and keep a safe distance,"

"Jake wait," Connie grabbed his arm after he had backed away three feet.

"My weight? I guess one hundred and something. I don't know," the boy shrugged.

"No you brown- haired comedian," Connie shook her head, suppressing a laugh.

"Oh, but if you have nothing else to say, I'm going back to distancing myself safely."

"I'm not done yet," she took a deep breath " Do you know what it's like to have an intense scalding hate for someone?"

Jake said nothing. It was about to go down- intensely.

"There is absolutely no love, or anything. They think they can tell me what to do, whenever they want- like I'm some god damn puppet! I HATE IT!" Connie stomped her left foot angrily "It's not fair! I don't even think they have any emotions at all. Just an empty shell of a bastard!"

"Is this a guy?"

"Maybeeee," she drawled.

"Would you like me to kick his ass?" Jake asked.

"Whoa, Whoa, WHOA. Slow down," Axel said cautiously "Who ever said anything about us taking on other people's battles?"

"Come on, she's a friend Axel."

"We have our own problems to deal with J," Axel said "Whenever, we get super powers, turn into a badass that can do inhuman things and have a catchphrase as an excuse, then 'helping friends' is okay in my books,"

"But Lu-" Jake started.

"Don't you dare!" Luca growled "Plus Axel has a point kinda. Other than the Batman reference,"

"You're right, we do have problems," Jake said, leaving his vampire and werewolf speechless, since he never agreed with anything they ever said.

"And the biggest is you two annoying me!" Jake yelled.

"And there's the sass," his supernatural halves said together.

"Sit Connie, behave Connie. I mean what am I, a dog? Do everything I say Connie," she laughed "I mean even dogs have it better. At least they get a treat or a compliment but I don't! It's unfair! I despise him! And all human beings! They make me sick !"

Jake winced at the amount of venom she spat. Even though it wasn't directed towards him, as he was a hybrid, it was still savage.

"Okay, that was maybe taking it a bit too far with the last part," he started.

An angry look from Connie, silenced him though. "Humans are despicable, selfish creatures who care about only themselves and care not about who they have to use to get it,"

Jake could feel her anger and frustration rolling off her in waves.

His felt his fangs elongate.

"Sweet negative emotions," Axel squealed. "She smells good, don't you think so, Jake?"

Jake felt his chest clench, as his heart beat sped up.

Vampires fed off humans depending on their blood type of blood attributes- the emotions in them through blood- usually negative . The taste of human blood was stronger when a strong emotion was going through it- lust, pride, anger etc.

While, most vampires prepared a more specific taste, Jake's palate was a bit more broad as a young half- vampire.

Young vampires usually had limited control of that and were unpredictable. (See A/N)

"Jake calm down," Luca growled "Are you really going to let your blood lust make you attack her? I thought she was your friend, "

Jake felt his heart rate, slow down and he took deep even breaths.

You're right, Jake thought, slowly retracting his fangs.

"Damn you, pup!" Axel snarled.

"It's called having a conscience, you blood sucking bat," Luca snarled back, before disappearing back into the deeper corner's of Jake's mind.

"Now, do you get why I hate him?" Axel growled.

"Um..I'm not getting involved ," Jake replied, shutting down the link, as Connie dragged him to class, still ranting.

Jake sighed. A war between his wolf and vampire would mean nothing good for him.

The two species could barely agree in real life, he didn't need it in his head too. Despite the similarities, they had different ways of doing things.

It was like having a code, but people had different ways of interpreting and following it to get an answer.

There would always be conflict .

He could already feel exhaustion coming on.

And then the school day wasn't even over yet. What more could the day hold?

But then again it was either the war zone of school or dealing with his siblings.

Yup, school was definitely the best choice.

Make your move now.

A/N Sorry for the late update, life has been REALLY hectic and exams are coming up and i did promise a double update, this is a two-parter, chapter was too long hee hee. Next part should be up tomorrow. The part that explained the vampire instinct thing, if you've read both my books, you'd realize its similar to Vampirica Triple Trouble part. Yes Hybrid and Vampirica exist in the same universe, so there are similarities with the cultural parts. It's all canon, says me. 2418 words including authors note
