CHAPTER 12- Caves
An irked female slowly stalked towards the younger male.
"Two days later," Jake said sarcastically.
"Oi, I'm not that slow!" Ruby said irritated.
But I bet what you're going to tell me is, Jake thought.
"Hmph, may be I won't tell you the message anymore," Ruby said pouting.
"Alright," Jake beamed. "Bye!"
"Hell no!" Ruby grabbed him before he could flash away.
"Listen good Jake, I'm saying this once: Alpha said to go see him," her grip on his arm tightened. This was going to leave a mark. He could almost sense the animosity dripping from her countenance. "And never insinuate I'm slow again,"
Jake grinned, but said nothing, pulling away from her tight grip.
Ruby growled.
"Don't be like that Rubes. So are you going to tell me where Kyle is my or-"
Now, it was Ruby's turn to grin like a lunatic. She would enjoy annoying him.
"Wait a minute, I have to find him on my own, don't I?" Jake groaned.
Ruby nodded and blocked his path.
"What, are you an obstruction for me?" Jake sighed.
"Of course Jake! What fun would it be if I didn't ? You don't hate me for it do you?"
"Of course not!" Jake replied. "I just want to hit you with a chair...... made of iron..........and covered in spikes,"
The Beta glared.
The teenager smirked, running towards her.
Her legs parted, bent at the knee, turning her body sideways while her arms raised-one protecting her chest and torso, the other, her face. Jake jumped, grabbed her diagonal shoulders and flipped over her head. He landed on the ground and took off running.
Ruby's eyes widened at the rapid movement before she spun around and growled.
The boy laughed, as she chased him.
He ducked as her fist went towards his face, missing. It went through the nearby wall instead, leaving a cascade of dust, concrete and plaster to escape the new opening.
Jake looked at her now golden eyes in horror. She was going to destroy the entire building if she had to until she pulverised him. That was not going to happen, though. He didn't plan on getting hit. Parkour to the rescue!

Otto looked up as he heard crashing and breaking upstairs. He was on the ground floor, in the kitchen. He walked out, only to watch Jake grab unto the first floor railing and flip unto the ground floor.
Jake got up from his crouched position, only to find the Otter staring at him.
"You do know, there are stairs, right?" The Gamma asked.
"Aw, come on, where's the fun in that Otter?" Jake jibed, mimicking Ruby and her famous catchphrase.
The man groaned. "What's going on up there?"
"Ruby."
"What the hell!"
"Kyle apparently set up this test, where I'm to find him and Ruby's an obstacle."
"Oh Goddess! Why are they doing this inside the house again? Hurry up and find him already! Do you want the entire building to go down?"
Jake sighed, then inhaled deeply. Taking in the different scents. Dave. Otto. The twins- the kid ones. Their mother. Ruby. Jonathan. Derikson. And everyone else's familiar scents in the main house. Such was the nose of a werewolf. Jake's nose was a bit more sensitive with him being a hybrid and all.
There were other housing structures on the compound but Kyle wasn't anywhere on the compound. There was no trace of a strong dose of his scent anywhere nearby. Jake frowned. His brother wasn't anywhere nearby, meaning he had to be in the surrounding forest.
"Tracked him down yet?" Otto asked.
"I think so," Jake muttered.
"Then hurry up and go already!" Otto hissed.
Jake laughed walking towards the door. "Try not to miss me too much!"
"Trust me, I won't," Otto muttered, picking up his cup of coffee, only to be startled and spitting it up, because of a golden eyed Ruby slamming open the kitchen door against the wall.
"Where...is....he?" She growled. "His scent is strong here,"
Otto sighed pouring two cups of coffee.
"You lost him, he just left. Calm your wolf and come get some coffee."
She glared at him.
"I'll add five spoonfuls of sugar and cream," Otto bribed.
He watched as her eyes almost immediately reverted to their dark color.
"Ok," she piped up happily.
Otto sighed again and handed her the cup. There was no way patrol and management with her today was going to be simple. This was going to be an arduous day.

Jake hopped from branch to branch of the massive trees, following his nose. His brother's lavender and pine scent was getting stronger.
The boy stopped suddenly. The scent was extremely strong now so where was Kyle? His eyes turned crimson, studying his surroundings quickly, searching for his brother's familiar aura.
"Took you long enough," a voice suddenly whispered near his ear.
Jake's body reacted on instinct. He turned, dagger appearing in hand, aiming for the jugular. Kyle grabbed Jake's wrist, with the knife an inch from his throat.
"Really? You keep me waiting, then you try to kill me," Kyle said unamused, looking at Jake's red eyes.
Jake hissed at him. "Do not sneak up on me. It could've been worse,"
He banished the knife as his brother dropped his arm.
"How'd you find me?" Kyle asked, dropping to the ground from the branch. He landed on bent knees and slowly stood.
"Your scent, duh," Jake deadpanned, levitating down from the tree.
"What do I smell like?"
"Lavender and pine after a shower of rain," Jake said slowly. "Why the test?"
"I knew you couldn't resist. Don't you want to know what you smell like? I could smell you a mile away."
"Not really, but you're making it seem like I haven't showered in weeks, so now I'm curious,"
"Uh, uh, uh, you have to ask," Kyle stated playfully.
Jake sighed. "Fine. Kyle what do I smell like?"
"A virgin."
Jake glared at him as his brother chuckled.
"Not funny," Jake snarled, following his moving sibling.
"You're right," Kyle replied. "It's hilarious. I'd laugh more, but we have more pressing issues,"
"Like what? Other than your cracked funny bone, of course."
"When you were following my scent, did your wolf help?"
"No," Jake said cautiously. He mentally sighed as he felt himself beginning to try to avoid stepping on eggshells.
"Proves my point, you would have gotten here faster if you did," Kyle said jumping over a log.
"What point? We didn't reach that yet,"
"What's your Wolf's name?"
Jake froze. His wolf had a name? Oh crap. This was going to turn into an entire thing.
Kyle turned around, sensing his brother had stopped. He laughed. "What, you didn't know? Did you think that they're conscience -less animals! Your wolf is reborn in a new person usually once to pass on advice in the next lifetime. It has countless experiences. You especially could learn a thing or two from yours on not being so reckless!"
I'm screwed, Jake thought. He inwardly recoiled a little at the anger that permeated from his brother.
"Yeah, you are," Axel replied. "Look on the bright side, at least he stopped dodging questions,"
You have a name! Jake yelled in the back of his mind at his wolf.
"Of course I do! What do you think I'm some mind less animal?" His wolf growled. "Axel has a name doesn't he? Why shouldn't I?"
"He has a point," Axel said.
Just-both of you, shut up! I'm in deep enough shit as it is. Please! Jake thought and his mind grew quiet.
"I haven't even seen you shift! Not even once! You're fourteen Jake! Fourteen! Toddlers can run around shifting in their wolf forms, but not you," Kyle continued. He stopped and ran a hand through his black hair.
Jake's body and eyes were locked on the ground. What was he supposed to do? He could not control that. What was he even supposed to say in the face of the wall of rage that covered his brother? He swallowed as held back irritation from his brother's reaction.
"Jake. Jake. Nathaniel Jake Lykros Walker Freeman! Look at me!" Kyle growled.
The younger male's eyes snapped up to meet his brothers worried blue orbs.
"I'm just worried, alright. It feels like you're more estranged from your werewolf side than vampire. Everytime your in a light-hearted from what I've seen- even when I just snuck up on you, you use your vampiric powers. It's like an automatic default . I want you to be able to have a balance. Keeping one half and neglecting the other isn't healthy. You worry me, alot," Kyle walked over and patted his head. "Let's go okay?"
Jake nodded and followed as they began to move again. He remained silent, nibbling t the inside of his bottom lip. Hopefully, this did not turn into another 'conversation' that consisted of pure accusations.
Of course, this depends on, if you're doing this purposefully or really can't access your werewolf side, Kyle thought. He hoped for anything but the latter.
The question still remained on what was the extent of Jake's powers. They still didn't know.

Three hours of climbing up this mountain caused the air to become frigid and caress the skin of both males as the altitude increased.
Jake sighed. He wasn't tired. He and his sibling were werewolves- well one of them was partially, so they had a lot of stamina- he was frustrated.
"Are we there yet?" Jake asked.
"Almost," Kyle replied, as they reached the top. He knew the child was getting fed up from the seemingly endless trek.
"So what now?" Jake said, looking at the trees and flowers stretching for miles.
Kyle pointed downwards at a valley at the bottom of the mountain.
"Are you kidding me?" Jake spat. "We climbed up, just to climb back down? Couldn't we have just gone around the mountain?"
"Sure, if you want to keep whining and get impaled by rocks, why not?" Kyle said sarcastically.
"Fine," Jake grumbled, as they started their descent.
Kyle looked around the valley walking to the base of the other mountain, at the bottom.
"Oh great!" Jake said sarcastically. "We go up, another mountain now,"
"No. Now we go around the mountain," Kyle smirked.
"Grr. What? Ugh!" He stammered. "You're exhausting,"
"I know," Kyle grinned. "We're here,"
"Here where?" Jake said through the thick fog rolling in.
Kyle grabbed his arm and led him towards an opening to a cave.
Green and white specks of light glittered on the walls, along with the stalactites hanging from the ceiling. It was like a glow in the dark show.
Beautiful.
Jake on the other hand found it entirely creepy. The cave's aura, did not sit well with him.
Kyle felt Jake tense up. "Come on,"
He then dragged him towards the caves. Jake struggled to pull away.
Kyle sighed, sensing hesitation as usual, before grabbing Jake and throwing him over his shoulder and walking into the cave.
"Let........me.........go!" Jake screamed uselessly pounding on his brother's back as they travelled deeper into grey tunnels.
