Chapter 21 Homecoming for the Problem Child

June 9, 2020
Wilkes-Barre Township, Pennsylvania
Hotel
Early Morning

Don was waking up and after having done his morning stretches, already prepared to go to the breakfast buffet down the lobby. As he walked, he stopped for a bit, knowing and sensing a certain person coming close.

In fact, that person is actually skipping, to which Don prepared himself by outstretching his arm backwards as he felt impact on his back from a happy, blonde haired individual hugging onto him from behind.

Liv: Ooooh Donny knew?

Don: *faces Liv* At this point, the squirreling, the skipping and the need for hugs already spell out who it is will try to ride my back.

Liv: That and I think only I get that privilege, *pouts* Unless there's another....

Don: Relax, G. Just you *smiles*

Liv: Aww that's my Friendly Donny! *giggles* Buffet time!

Don and Liv head to the Buffet to have breakfast together with a side of stories and Liv Morgan-brand mischief.

Timeskip to the Latter Half of the day
After Don and Liv ate until satisfied, with a side of Liv's adorable burping, both washed up and agreed to meet by the lobby. Don waited there clad in a plain white shirt and jeans.

Don was looking at his phone until he heard a familiar set of steps. Don played along and pretended not to mind them but as he was zoomed in to his phone, he felt a set of arms and a body press onto his back.

Liv: Donny ignore? *sad voice*

Don turned his head to see a pouting Liv hug him from behind. Don decided to give in and answered.

Don: Oh no. I can't do that to my LIVely friend

Liv: (Mind: Aww still a friend, oh well) Awww I know you can think up of a more clever thing to call me Donny *giggles*

Don: In time, G. In time

Liv: So we're headed home?

Don: Yeah, let's. *smiles*

On the Car Ride to Elmwood Park, New Jersey
Don and Liv were still on the road due to the traffic. Don turned the radio up and this song suddenly hit

(A/N: Shout out to @JohnnyWriting for this song. This was used a lot in his Liv Morgan book, Liv your life. Give it a read when you can.)

https://youtu.be/_U0PrwLpb_Q

As Don was looking at the road, he saw Liv begin to sing along with matching hand gestures. Don glanced at Liv at first but he was enticed by her singing with such gusto and energy even with the seatbelt on. The car was slowly moving to the New Jersey traffic, but this did not drag on the ride. In fact, it made Don appreciate Liv's bubbly energetic side each more.

Don:(Mind: Wow, she sure can rap...what if the next song was...)

As the song reached its last note, the Disk Jockey then cut up and talked about the song and did his usual spiel. During this break, Liv was breathing and she caught a glance of a smiling Don. Liv giggled and blushed.

Liv: Driver Donny go smiley! *giggles*

Don: *entranced* Use your big girl words now G?

Liv: Don't wanna P! But you...liked that?

Don: Yes! That was lit!

Liv laughed at Don as she saw him try to be on the trend. Don looked confused but Liv patted his shoulder.

Liv: No need to try not to be you...

As Liv was about to continue what she was about to say, the Radio station then began to play...

Liv began to sing the opening parts but Don did not want to be outdone and began to sing along too since he was familiar with the words. Liv giggled at Don still focusing on the road but singing his heart out.

Liv couldn't let this moment go by, so she snuck her phone out and caught a quick video of them singing Coming Home, but not tagging Don, for fear of another worrisome diatribe.

As the song ended, Liv clapped for her friend. Don was blushing but suddenly had to honk the horn as he wasn't being given the change to overtake. Once he did, Liv began to praise her friend.

Liv: Driver Donny P on the wheel and on the beat!

Don: *smiles* Couldn't be without my partner, Livin' La Vida Livverz

Liv: Hey, I'm no Livver! I'm just Jumping Gionna Daddio.... on the beat! (mind: Daddy, Donny~)

Don laughed but Liv felt like she knew she wanted to say more but held back. She felt this may make things awkward but both laughed as they were nearing her home.

Daddio Residence
Elmwood Park, New Jersey
Don drove until Liv was getting giddy like a little kid as she saw the familiar front of her house. Don stopped the car as he stepped out of the car and let Liv's door be open. Liv steps out and breathes the air

Liv: *breathes* mmmhhh the air of home.  Welcome to Jersey Donny!

Don: Guess we're here huh?

As the two friends talked it out, an elderly woman with slightly grayed blonde hair stepped out and saw Liv and Don.

???: Gionna!

Liv turned around to see her mother, Georgette Daddio as the Problem Child was bouncing and then walking near her mother as Mother and Daughter caught each other in a warm embrace. Don couldn't help but feel a bit warm outside seeing this openness, but at the same time, he felt a bit of longing since he didn't have it easy with his parents.

Georgette and Liv pulled away from the hug as the elder Daddio sees Don looking at their moment.

Georgette: *to Don* Hey you, friend of Gionna's?

Don: *snaps back into reality* Oh yes. My name's Patricio Capistrano or WWE's Don Patricio.

Georgette: Capistrano huh? You don't certainly look Italian so I don't know if you're from the old country or....

Liv: He's not Italian Mom! *giggles*

Georgette: Clearly I can see ya munchkin!

Liv: *blushing* Mom!

Don laughed a bit but Georgette lets out her hand for a handshake. Don obliges and shakes her hand.

Georgette: You don't got the facial features nor the height of an Italian or even an Italian-American. But hey, if you've been kind to Gionna, then you're on my good side...unlike that loud mouthed, self-centered good for nothing...

Liv: Mom! Please, let's not talk about Eric anymore.

Georgette: *to Don, in a motherly tone* He was a pile of trash. Always so loud. Always talking and making himself the conversation...

Don sees that Liv is getting uncomfortable but nodding in agreement with her mother that he had to respectfully stop her.

Don: I do agree with you Ma'am but please, this is upsetting Gionna. Shall we steer the conversation to something else?

Georgette felt a bit at shock but was taken by the polite charm of the friend Liv brought over.

Georgette: Gionna, if you didn't let me know sooner, you brought in a replacement for Eric  *laughs*

Liv: Mom! He's just a friend

Georgette: For now. But anyway, glad to see you back here. So are you two just passing by or staying?

Liv: Mom, I haven't been here since my long break. So I feel like staying here for the night with Patricio here. Can we?

Georgette: *laughs* Gionna Jene Daddio! You're a grown ass lady. And seeing as this man here has yet to taste a Daddio style dinner, then by gosh we will stuff this man that he will be going on about it until the day of passage

Don: With all due respect, but what do you mean by that?

Liv: *giggles* She makes a mean Italian Dinner. Have you ever had one of those?

Don: Sadly no?

Georgette and Liv were shocked upon this revelation with Georgette's mom

Georgette: Poor baby hasn't had his first Italian-American dinner. How long have you been here?

Don: Not long...

Georgette: Gionna, open the door. Patricio, you can park the car there and bring down your things and get settled.

Liv: On it mother!

Mother and daughter opened the door to let Don bring in their things as the Daddios reconnect.

As Don had finished letting Liv's and his belongings in the house for the meantime, Georgette was in the kitchen preparing for their family dinner.

Georgette: You two are in luck, I got enough for our little dinner so you two settle down and no funny business before meals. *smirks*

Liv: Mom! Come on

Georgette: I'm just kidding sweetheart. Now we may have not much usable rooms but Gionna, since I know he's a nice boy, mind showing him to your room so you two can talk there?

Liv blushed as Don gave her a reassuring look that he will keep to his word.

Liv: Alright, come on P.

Georgette: P? You sure you two aren't beyond friends yet?

Liv: Yes we are, Mom!

Georgette: Alright alright, time for me to prepare the Daddio style dinner. Play nice upstairs

Liv and Don went up with their bags as Don saw Liv's room. Liv breathed after opening the door.

Liv: Like I never left *giggles*

Don looked around to see Liv's baby pictures and some of her growing up. But what took him by surprise was some of the pictures

Don was looking intently at the pic then back at Liv. Liv set her things down and saw that her pics from her Hooters day were still on display.

Liv: I see you've taken a special interest in some of my pics? *smirks*

Don jolted and blushed as he saw this picture as Liv was smirking and giggling.

Liv: Naughty Donny. But if it helps you, there are others from my Hooters day. Like this one!

Liv smiled with pride

Liv: See my life before WWE, Donny?

Don can only nod seeing how shapely she was then and even up until now.

Liv: And well, a coworker was crazy enough to take this picture of me before opening

Don's eyes widened at the pictures as he began to hide below his belt at the front. Liv was smirking but she blushed at Don's visible discomfort.

Liv: Is Donny getting a stiffy....over my old pics?

Liv then rubs Don't back with her hand and she guides him to her bed to sit. Don followed and Liv broke the silence due to Don seeing her old spicy pictures of her past in Hooters.

Liv: I did tell you that I used to work at a Hooters, right?

Don: Oh...Oh yeah.

Liv: *worried* Does that change how you view me? I mean, I think you got places like that back in the Philippines where people who work in those types of jobs are looked down upon or seen as dirty...

Don: Hey, I won't judge you for that but I see how that idiot Prichard used that against you to try to make you fall in line and berate you in front of other talent.

Liv: *tears up a bit* Donny....

Don: Hey, he went below the belt with that statement. I bet he cannot even see what is below his belt with the blubber gut that he accumulated over the years

Liv giggled at the mean spirited joke towards the head of creative. Don saw Liv warm a bit and he went on.

Don: G, we all had pasts, some of which we are not so proud to admit. But hey, what matters is that maybe that past helped shape us up into waht we are now. To guide us to a better tomorrow. That is what matters now. The past is...well..the past. All we could do now is move forward and come to terms with what was.

Liv: So wise P. I wanna take you to the old Hooters but I think we will save that for when we return to New Jersey for Raw.

Don: Of course, *chuckles* so...I guess I will be sleeping on the floor?

Liv: Oh no! We got a cot somewhere here. Let Mom and I find you one so you don't get couchy sleep time

Don: G, you haven't even asked if it's okay for me to sleep here...

Liv: Mom said it was fine earlier *smiles*

Don: Alright, but .... *phone rings* shoot! It's my cousins.

Liv: P, you can step out first. I can go dress up and help my mom with your first taste of Daddio Dinner *smiles*

Don: Alright G. Go be a good daughter and not a Problem Child

Liv pouted at the bad joke but she giggled and left Don to himself.

With the Daddios
Liv and Georgette were prepping up the dinner. Georgette got the loaf of Garlic Bread ready as Liv was placing it on the table. Mother and daughter bonded while the spaghetti sauce was being prepared.

Georgette: So Gionna, that guy you brought home? He seems to be a nice kid. Just weird why he was staring whilst we were hugging.

Liv: Oh, that... let's say he hasn't had the most pleasant of childhoods. But I will let him say it. It's his past to tell, not mine.

Georgette: Awww who are you and where's my daughter?

Liv: Mom! *giggles* I'm just considerate of him. Plus, he saved me from a night out of town gone wrong *blushes*

Georgette: I knew you'd get into trouble one of these days. Did anyone harm my sweet little angel?

Liv: No mom. *smiles* Don and his mentor saved me

Georgette: So responsible and caring. Let me tell you, he's a yes for me. He isn't show offy and loud. A polite and considerate young man who didn't need to defend you to me but he is quite the man.

Liv: Mom! Well... he did admit that he likes me

Georgette: But DO YOU like him back? Gionna, love and relationships goes both ways.

Liv: Mom... you know I'm still picking back up the pieces after what Eric did.

Georgette: It's been a year Gionna. But then again, I leave that to you. You're older and wiser than you were when that stupid boy

The sauce was boiling with the aromatics and the scent of the herbs filled the room as Georgette tended to that as Liv checked on the meatballs. Once things have settled, Liv then said

Liv: I like him, Mom. There, I said it!

Georgette: Gionna... are you sure it's not me asking that made you say that? Is that from the heart? You know each person has their own recovery time and I assumed you're doing just fine.

Liv: I've been doing fine on my own. But maybe it's time I open my heart again...and fate may have presented Donny to me. Oh gosh I don't wanna ruin my friendship with him

Little did Liv realize, Don listened to the last part. He blushed upon hearing this, but Georgette knew how to redirect the conversation.

Georgette: Don, can you be a dear and set the table for us?

Don: Sure thing Ma'am.

Georgette: And also, you can call me Georgette honey. You've earned it after being such a dear to Gionna.

Don blushed and nodded as he was told to get the plates and placemats to set the table. While this was happening, Georgette told Liv.

Georgette: Kid's got no air or attitude. He's humble but I wanna see if he is right for you *laughs*

Liv can only blush and nod in surrender as their dinner was close to being served.

Dinnertime
Georgette was seated at the middle with Liv seated by her right. Don sat beside Liv as they all sat with Don in silence, praying before his meal. Liv and Georgette were shocked until Don finished praying.

Georgette: Are you Catholic by chance?

Don: Uhh yes, Georgette. May I know why?

Georgette: Oh it's no problem dear. But as per tradition...

Don: Oh wait, I should serve the elders first.

Don then saw what was on the table. A Platter of Spaghetti and Meatballs and Chicken Parmigiana

Don picked out the biggest piece of Chicken Parmigiana and the most Spaghetti as he gave the plate to Georgette.

Georgette: Well, I didn't need to tell you that tradition that elders eat first or be served first but I think you got that down, so thank you *laughs a bit*. Are you legitimately Italian or are we getting pranked?

Don: *while serving Liv her plate* I'm actually Filipino.

Georgette: No way? Well we don't have much of Filipinos here on this side of Jersey.

Liv: *served by Don* Thanks P!

Don saw there's still a lot left on the serving platters. Georgette saw Don's eyes widen and she said.

Georgette: *laughing* you are obviously new to all this. Italian dinners always have a lot served so eat your heart out

Don then served himself then they all began to eat. All three had some small talk and after 2 hours, they were able to finish the meal with Don opting to help Georgette with the dishes while Liv had to answer a video call from her older siblings, who found out she returned back home.

With Georgette and Don
Don was scrubbing the serving trays, Georgette then began asking questions to Don while Liv was by the living room talking to her older siblings by video chat.

Georgette: So, I think at this point you know of my daughter's past, being a Hooters waitress until being hired by WWE. She didn't finish her education but got a GED.

Don: Georgette, why ..are you bringing all this up?

Georgette: Because, I want to know more about you when you're with my daughter.

Don: Well, she is a sweet and energetic individual.

Georgette: You didn't answer me. Despite her past, does it change how you view her as a person now?

Don: Georgette, those things do not change how I view your daughter, my friend. She is down to earth, resilient and strong. Despite all the things being thrown against her, she tells it as it is. I mean heck, she even advises me when I still have my problem with my parents.

Georgette: Oh no, dearie. What happened?

Don: I actually left my parents to go abroad and hide from them ever since. I know it's not ideal but if I am in a household where whatever I say is shot down or reduced to wrong when whatever they say is the law, geez now my good son and person image must now have evaporated upon you hearing this...

Georgette: As a parent, yes it has, but we all have our own styles of parenting. Raising Gionna all on my own made me ensure I guide them all after my husband passed on. *sighs* But I do hope you two settle things, they may be wrong in being that imposing but I hope to see the day you two reconcile.

Don: Well, thanks Georgette... I can see where Gionna's empathy and considerate nature came from

Georgette: *laughs gently* A charmer too? So, you two still friends despite the closeness?

Don: Out of respect to Gionna. Not after what she went through with Eric.

Georgette: I like that but hey, let nature take its course. Just don't do anything stupid like breaking my baby's heart.

Don crossed his heart and raised his right arm as if he were to swear an oath.

Don: Cross my heart I will never do so.

Georgette: So gullible! *laughs*

Liv walks in to see the scene and she giggles but becomes embarassed.

Liv: Mom! What did you make him do?

Georgette: Swear to not break your heart. I mean you two kids are old enough to decide what you two want to do but I can tell you Gionna, *smirks* he's a keeper.

Liv: Mom!

Don as if to sympathize with Liv blushed as well. Georgette knew that she had done enough to embarrass her kids so she hugs her daughter. Don stood back as mother and daughter hugged, but Georgette motions for Liv to leave a space for Don.

Georgette: Come on now, a friend of Gionna is a friend of mine. Join us!

Don joins the Daddio women in their family hug before finishing up the cleaning and preparing for bed

Timeskip to late evening
Liv's bedroom
Don and Liv wore their bed clothes as Liv was already laying on her bed. Don out of respect lay on the cot that Georgette was able to find from one of the other rooms.

Liv was a bit sad that Don was laying on the cot immediately beside her bed but the location of the cot was good enough that she can still talk to him. Don noticed that Liv was staring into the ceiling and in silence.

Don: G, you okay?

Liv: *hears Don's concerned voice* oh..oh! I'm fine Patricio. What's up?

Don: Apart from the ceiling, when you call me by my full first name, something seems to be troubling either one of us. I'm all ears if you're willing to have me listen.

Liv: Well, oh gosh. I don't want to make things awkward between you and me. I mean, I worry about you...I mean me...I mean us... oh no... *blushes*

Don reaches out for her right hand as he gently holds it tight. Liv was shocked by the gesture but she didn't let go of the hand.

Don: What is there to worry if nothing has happened? You told me of your past that yo freely let me know, and I've told you parts of mine.

Liv: I don't want to make you expect of things out of the ordinary that will make you turn me away *begins to face Don*

Don: Like what?

Liv: We almost fought Pat. Over how you should face your parents after you ran away from them. In time, I don't know what happens if you and Eric face each other. I...

Don calms Liv down by turning to face her and hugging her with his right arm as his left hand was holding her right hand. Liv warmed into the hug as Don let go of her hand to gently and respectfully, slightly rub her back. Liv tightened into the hug as Don didn't let go of the Problem Child.

Liv then slowly looked into Don's face now close to hers as she spoke in hushed tone.

Liv: Pat... why'd you...?

Don: I know I've said I want to help you be happy as you have been on your own despite all the troubles you've gone through. From Eric, your past, and even now with how you're being booked. I want to be by your side no matter what but I feel that it's time we take it to the next level.

Liv kinda knew where this was headed so she made the first move and kissed Don on the lips. Don was shocked as his hands roamed and the kiss had become a makeout session with only hands roaming on each other's torsos.

After 10 minutes of the makeout, Liv and Don were now laying on top of one another on Liv's bed. They blushed after that and unlike the time in the hotel, Liv spoke first and uttered what would be the life changing words for both of them

Liv: I love you Patricio Capistrano.

Don was shocked but at this point, even if he was not the one who said it first, he tightened the hug as if this were the sign that he will never let go.

Don: I love you too, Gionna Jene Daddio... after that liplock.. it's okay if you don't answer but will you be my girlfriend?

Liv giggled and kissed Don's cheeks first and booped his nose with hers before finally planting the kiss to seal the deal on the lips.

Liv: I said I love you first now did I? *giggles* But yes, now we are boyfie and girlfie!

Don: At last. *smiles* Then let's go to bed before we head out for Raw. We got a long drive before.....

As Don was still talking, Liv peacefully slept on top of her new boyfriend. Don chuckled and kissed her forehead as he began to drift into peaceful slumber.
