Some part of you lives here

To your favorite station
And some part of you
Puts bagels in the toaster
In the mornings
Even though you aren't here
To eat them
The sheets in the bedroom
Still smell of you
Even though it has been
Forever since you slept there
So long that sometimes
I wonder if you ever did at all
The lights that were on
The day you left
Refuse to turn off
And I wonder if your ghost
Or whatever it is that
Masquerades as you
Has ever met you
Because you were always such an
Advocate for clean energy
For saving the planet
For saving me
My body is a haunted house
And while something that I like
To think is you
Still hides there
Messing with the lights and
Turning the TV to static
And whispering in the walls
When I walk by
You are gone
Or, at least, every part of you
That matters is
If it mattered
You wouldn't have left it behind
