hallucinations of a boy i loved
When we kiss I find
Pressed rose petals beneath your tongue
And when you hold my hand I find
Cobwebs between your fingers
Our love feels stolen
As if I found you in an antique shop
And tucked you into my coat
Without paying.
I wonder who turned your pages before me
Because this whole story has been told before.
The girl falls for the boy;
The girl all sunshine and warm sand and fruit smoothie
The boy all cobwebs and pressed petals and
The excitement of something against the rules.
The only rules I'm breaking
Are the ones I set for myself.
Aren't those the most important?
Sometimes if I blink too fast
You just fade away.
