PART 60

From morning, Geet got busy in preparing for the birthday parties ...Geet wanted to surprise the birthday boys, First Avi and then Her Hubby-Maan... She wanted to wish them both at exactly 12 O'clock .. and she hoped there will still be 12 AM when, after wishing Avi, they will wish Maan together...Oh!! The thought itself was giving her goosebumps...

She arranged everything secretly.. From the cakes to be cut at exact 12 AM to the next day's big party.. Geet has managed all, not alone but with the help of Dev and NT-they were so sweet with her and she shared her surprise party's planning with them both... and they were helping her... Though both the cakes were made by Geet, But NT and Dev helped her with Maan's choices and likes and then the cakes were made like that...

At 11.50, in the night,

Geet looked at Maan-who was sitting with his laptop and files... And then she looked at Avi-who was busy in making drawings and finishing his home works, given by her school teachers .. while she was sat at the middle of the bed with one of her medical books, just flipping the pages to pass the time ... She sighed

Geet(ST):- what is it yaar??? They both are workaholic... Ditto copy... My dearest hubby never gets bored of his office work and being with Him, my poor baby is also becoming like him...(She looked at Avi, sadly)Alright I know, he plays all the day and just does his Home Work at the end of the day, but that doesn't mean, they both will forget their special day ...The birthdays just come once in a year and here they are oblivious of the importance of the day... My birthday passed just like that, this year... But am gonna make sure, next time at least I get a present for myself from my in-laws...

She sighed yet again and glanced at the wall clock that announced 12am... She jumped onto her feet and went to Avi-she hugged him and kissed him singing in a hush-hush whisper...

Geet:- Happy birthday to you ...Happy birthday to you.. Happy birthday dearest Avi... Happy birthday to you...

A surprised Avi looked at Geet and smiled widely.. hugged her and was abt to shout in excitement but Geet shushed him...and then whispered...

Geet:- Avi slow... We have to wish Papa too...

Avi(smiled and nodded):- Yes, but first ...my gift???

Geet:- umhhmmm...Not now...After Birthday Party, that means tomorrow...

Avi(made a sad face):- means after one whole day??? (Geet nodded) I needed one now.. At least one chocolate???

Geet(smiled and forwarded her hand):- That i have for my baby...Here...Let's go and wish Papa now...

She knew, he would be demanding a gift from her ...and so, she was ready with a packet of chocolate bars ... Avi jumped in joy... That's when Maan noticed the noises ... and looked around ... She went upto him along with Avi and just as it was turning 12.01 she said out loud...

Geet:- Happy Birthday..

Maan looked back at her in shock.. He wasn't expecting her to wish him like that ... He thought she would throw a surprise party, the next day.. But she had him surprised with this timely wishing ... It was a bit childish for him, to see His wife was wishing him like that ...

Geet looked at him, as he just gazed her and didn't reply to her wishes ... She thought, he got angry and so she faintly smiled and looked at Avi...

Avi:- Happy birthday Papa...

He wished and came around, Maan moved the laptop away, seeing Avi coming, then sitting on his lap, kissed Maan on both of his cheeks. Maan smiled and wished Avi back..with a kiss..

Maan:- Happy birthday Avi..

Avi:- Thank you..

Maan(looked back at Geet):- Thank you..

Geet smiled seeing his response to her wishes and then Avi got all excited to nibble the chocolate ... He unwrapped one and started to have that .. Maan, though didn't like this messy thing but well, he was getting used to Avi now, too much.. So, he didn't mind ... and soon Avi was feeding Maan the other chocolate... Geet looked at them both in admiration... and smiled...

Avi:- pata hai papa, mama hume kal gifts dengen... tou is liye aaj hum sirf chocolates khaenge... Waise yeh bhi mama ne he di hai...

Maan(looked at her):- Really???

Geet looked away while he smiled at her ways of pacifying the kid with her talks ... She indeed had her ways with Avi... and he was a novice in that matter for now ...He had to work hard in these things but was he really having time as Avi was abt to go away from their lives for a few years ??? His thoughts stopped as he realized what he was going to do, if Avi went away from his life??? He had started to make a bond with His Son now.. and now he had to take that difficult decision... But Avi's laugh at Geet's embarrassed face, broke Maan out from his thoughts...

Geet(became defensive):-Haan tou party kal hai, tou gifts bhi kal he milengey...

Maan:- Hmmm...

Geet:- I baked cakes for you two... Hope you will like them...

Saying that Geet went out and brought the freshly baked cakes .. Avi's cake was a bit small and Maan's of the normal size...

Avi(jumped in excitement looking at his fav chocolate cake):- wow.. Pehle main cake cut karonga... Maan smiled at this little boy's joy on such small thing...and kissed his cheeks.. while looking at the cakes in amusement Maan questioned Geet...

Maan:- You made them???

Geet:- yes... (She nodded with a smile)

Singing the song, Geet helped Avi to cut the cake while Maan stood beside them both looking at them with a smile... Adoring the bonding yet again... Geet fed Avi...Then, First, Avi fed the cake piece to Geet and then Maan.. Maan too fed him back and then Avi again shouted...

Avi:- Chalo papa, ab aap ki bari...

Maan smiled and cut his cake...while Avi and Geet sang the birthday song... He then fed Avi first and then offered Geet... She took from his hand and ate herself...

Maan:- Hmmm... Both the cakes are delicious ... Thanks ... (In reply Geet just smiled ... He glanced at the clock) Its late, Avi, beta go to bed...

Avi smiled and went to settle himself in between the bed ... While Geet looked at Maan... Who now was cleaning the mess which Avi created while feeding him the chocolates and then the cakes...When Maan heard her...

Geet(whispered):- Actually, I really don't know, much abt your favs and all.. So, you can suggest what do you want as a birthday gift???

Maan(ST):- How can I tell you to forgive me for separating you from Avi..But I won't be able to ask you that..

Geet(looking at his silence):- Ahh!! I know, you might not need any gift... But, I truly wanna gift you something .. Its really special birthday this year.. As you and Avi are happily going to celebrate this day, this time .. So.. I don't want to spoil the day..

Maan(sighed):- I don't know anything Geet.. you are right... But, I don't need anything ... You have given me and my family, many things ... Everything ...Besides, I thought The cake is my gift...

Geet looked down faking a smile... She was HURT.. After all they both had ups and downs, finally they were getting along in a good way... and now again this sudden tension between them..Maan sighed and a sudden thought came in his mind ... Geet was abt to turn away to go to bed when he said...

Maan:- Geet...

Geet(stopped and stood at her place):- Jii???

Maan(came a bit closer to her and then looked at her in curiosity):- umm... I was wondering ..when's your birthday??? (Geet looked at him, getting surprised) Uhh!! I mean, Its more than a year, you are here ..but you didn't celebrate your birthday like you are doing for US ??? You don't like to celebrate or what ???

Geet(smiled):- Or maybe none asked me before, just like you are asking me, today... (She added at his sentence..and Maan was rendered mum..Geet looked at him and smiled) It just passed a month back...

Maan(looked at her in surprise):- You never told me ???

Geet:- you never asked me ...

Maan(sighed):- Am sorry...

Geet(was quick to reply):- plz don't say that... I didn't mean to be rude... Wasn't taunting or anything ..But.. was just ...

Maan(completed on her behalf with a sad smile):- Sharing your HURT!!! (Geet shook her head but Maan contd) Will try to not to forget your birthdays from next year on...

Geet(changed the topic):- I think we should sleep now ...

Maan(agreed with her):- Yeah...

Geet:- I will just keep them and come ... She pointed at the cakes ..Maan nodded...Geet went and came back after a while and saw Maan still was standing where she has left him... He looked at her and smiled a bit ...

And then they both went to bed and lied down on either sides of Avi... With Geet, resting her hand on Avi's ..slowly patting him and Maan turning his head on the other side ... and lost in his own thoughts ..

He knew she didn't mean to be rude or was taunting him.. But was just stating the truth.. None cared for her... Even His family who had accepted her without any questions, didn't think abt her this happiness...??? They seemed careless abt her big day... and even Geet looked like that ...Or maybe they also don't know abt her birthday... But he promised himself that he will not only wish her but will arrange for a grand party in her honor... the next year...

Satisfied and concluding his thoughts he drifted to sleep... and awaited for the party from her...
