I walked into the hallway. The moment I opened the door to go into the main building, Sky walked up to me.

     "H-Hey," I said. We hadn't talked since that phone call over a week ago. 

     "I need to talk to you," She said as we arrived at my locker. I opened the door and took a book out.

     "You know I love Chase, but you're my best friend. I care about you and we've been friends since long before we started dating. I'm going to tell him I won't stop talking to you even if he breaks up with me," She looked up at me. I nodded, and she smiled at me. She hugged me, and I couldn't help but hug her back. Suddenly I saw Chase and let go of her. She did the same and walked up to him. She talked to him, and I went to my class.

     I walked over and sat down by myself.

     "Hey," Skyler sat down next to me.

     "Hey, what did he say?" I asked.

     "He said I didn't have to stop talking to you. I just need to spend most of my time with him," She said. I smiled.

     "Well that's good to hear," I said.

     "Yeah, you have a game again tonight, right?" Sky asked.

     "Yeah," I said.

     "Alright, see you then," She smiled. We talked through the lunch period and went on with our classes.

     "You played so great!" Skyler jumped into my arms after the game. I smiled and hugged her.

     "Thanks, I feel pretty good about that game," I smiled.

     "You should. You were incredible! You scored twice!" She smiled. Then my heart sank. I saw a very angry Chase walking towards me and Sky in sweaty football gear. She saw my worried expression and turned around. 

     "Babe, we talked about this today!" He yelled. Skyler got behind me. 

     It makes me upset that she feels the need to hide behind me. 

     "I-I'm sorry," She said quietly.

     "I said you could hang around him. I also told you that you had to go to all of my games instead of his," He said. I glanced back and saw that Skyler looked terrified. I reached down and held her hand. She gripped it tightly. This isn't right... I let go, but she reached for it again. I sighed.

     "I'm gonna fight you," Chase said. I let go of her, and Chase tried to punch me. I dodged out of the way. Then he turned to me and swung again. He hit me this time. He turned to Skyler all the sudden and went to hit her. A switch flipped in my head, and I tackled him before he could hit her.

     "Don't you dare touch her!" I yelled. 

     "Oh, yeah?" Chase yelled.

     "If you lay a hand on her I'll destroy you!" I said. I felt a hand on my shoulder. I turned to see Skyler looking at me with tears in her eyes. I stood up and hugged her. She held me tightly.

     "I'm done with you!" Chase yelled at her. She gripped me and cried into my chest. I held her tightly. She looked up at me and I wiped her tears. 

     "It's alright," I ran my fingers through her hair. She looked up at me.

     "I can't even..," Her voice trailed off. She put her hand on my cheek. I want to kiss her... I can't.

     "Can we go back to my place?" She asked. I blushed and nodded. We went to her house and I sat with her on her bed. She hugged me. I smiled and she took me in her arms.

     "I love you," She whispered.

     "Wh-What?" I asked.

     "I... Sorry," She said.

     "No, what did you say?" I asked. I think I heard her. I don't know.

      "I love you," She said. I did hear her right.

      "I don't think it's a good idea for you to get into another relationship as soon as you got out of another one," I said. She nodded. I wish I didn't want to respect her. I wish I wouldn't have to worry about her feelings for him. We spent the night talking. I went home late at night.
