I walked out of the bathroom refreshed and more alert. I closed the bathroom door and quickly padded to my wardrobe. I slid open the glass doors, glimpsing an image of myself in the mirror, l admired my long legs ,and searched for something to wear. I lifted up some shirts and moved back pants.
I could wear this. No, l doubt this would work.
I pushed back the shorts l had pulled out, and then l withdrew black sweatpants with pink drawstrings by the waist.
This l could work with.
I found my pink gyming-shirt and l smiled. I laid my clothing on my bed. I hurried to my chest of drawers and l removed my underwear and sportsbra from the third drawer. I put on my undergarments, then l dressed in my clothes. I took out my socks from my second drawer. I ran to my wardrobe again and tore apart the bottom of my wardrobe in search of my trainers. I searched high and low but l could not find them,
That's strange! They were here a few days ago...
I knelt down and peeked underneath my bed; l could see a neon pink lacejutting out from the darkness. I crawled closer to the bed. My head touched the ground as l scoured for the shoes. I tugged the lace and out came my missing trainers.
"Ah-ha!"
I sat on my bedspread and l put my feet inside my shoes. As soon as l was finished l walked down the stairs.
"Come on! Two more miles!" he chanted.
"Dude, give me a break, you're wearing me out..." I huffed.
I began fanning myself to try and cool myself down in vain. Coop jogged fluidly, he turned back and looked at me before he decelerated. I panted.
"Why'd you slow down?"
He shrugged nonchalantly before chuckling.
"You told me to give you a break, now l am," he said.
I rolled my eyes melodramatically.
"Seriously!?! Now you listen to me?"
He turned then quickly peered ahead. He nodded.
"Uhm, it is what you wanted, right?"
I sighed and decelerated to a walk. I had had enough! I am not an athlete, like Coop. I wasn't meant to run. Coop ran ahead, as he did he wiped the sweat from his forehead with his shirt. He disappeared into the distance. I sighed and pulled out my phone.
Léone: Hi, Fuchsia.
I laughed when l saw the message.
Fuchsia: Hey.
Léone: How's it hanging?
Fuchsia: I'm dying.
Léone:? Should l call the paramedic?
I giggled and typed quickly. I had the strangest intuition he was laughing as well.
Fuchsia: Yes! Quickly! l'm starting to see the light...
Léone: No! Don't go into it!
I shook my head and typed multiple laughing emojis. He responded with a voice note. I loaded it before clicking play. I heard a shrill laugh.
Léone: Where are you?
Fuchsia: I'm running in my neighbourhood.
Léone: Seriously? You? Running?
Fuchsia: You know it.
Léone: With who?
Fuchsia: Guess.
Léone: Is it Paul ?
I almost laughed Paul was as much an introvert as me, only he would play video games during his spare time
Fuchsia: Try again.
Léone: Who else could it be?
Léone: ...
I sent a laughing emoji.
Léone: Is it Coop?
Fuchsia: Got it!
Léone: What's my prize?
Fuchsia: When we study for our project, l will bring snacks.
Léone: Sweet! When are we doing that?
Fuchsia: Hhmm... how about Monday?
Léone: Deal. See you later!
Fuchsia: By...
I was about to finis typing when my phone was snatched from my hand.
"Hey!" I yelled, looking up.
I thought a thief had mugged me, but it was only Coop. He smirked at me; l was relieved when l realised this.
"Oh, thank goodness!" I thought my phone was taken by a thief.
"Now, hand it over," l said.
I reached towards Coop and he quickly withdrew his hand from me.
"No, way! You haven't exercised one bit You aren't getting your phone back until you do!"
I glared at him.
"Come on, Coop! Stop being funny, give it back!"
He came towards me and tilted his head.
"No," he whispered in my ear.
He took off running as fast as a lightning bolt.
"Hey! Give me my phone back!"
"You have to catch me first!" he said.
I ran after him. When l came close enough to touch him, he would turn back before accelerating. I grumbled and halted. I placed my palms on my knees. I put my head down and tried to catch my breath.
"Can't you do this? If you don't l'll keep your phone."
I gazed up and l saw Coop a few inches away, waving my phone at me. I sprinted in his direction, he leaped away quickly like a hare. My arms pumped up and down; my heart sprang with each step l took. I could soon feel this subtle ache in my muscles but l didn't care. I was determined to catch up to Coop at all costs. I saw his back and l tackled him to the ground; we rolled until we came to a stop. We had, fortunately, landed in the tall grass and it cushioned our fall. Coop gasped as he fell.
"Ha, Coop! Caught you! Give. Me. My. Phone,"l said.
Coop blew out a breath and it was muffled by the grass.
"Coop..."
I squealed when my back was suddenly on the grass. Coop smirked and his green eyes flickered with amusement. His eyes were a dark green with sprigs of mint green. I attempted to sit up but he pushed me back.
"Very funny,"l said, moving up.
He pushed me down. I glowered at him and he smiled widely at me.
"Coop...you better stop this," I said.
"Why should l?" he said.
"Because l said so," l said, pushing him.
He swayed a bit before returning to hovering above me. His brown hair fell over his eyes.
"Is that an order?"
I moved my hand underneath my back and put my knees on his chest. I pushed myself as hard as l could; l gained momentum. I flipped onto my hands which caused Coop to fall back into the grass.
"You bet it is; l win again!"
He laughed before removing my phone from his sweatpants.
"You earned it," he said.
I laid next to him and put my feet up.
"You ran! See a little exercise won't kill you," he said.
I rolled my eyes.
"What do you plan on doing today?" l said.
"I am hanging out with Max, today. My dad thinks we should spend more time together. And you? What are your plans?"
I sighed in exasperation. He had unknowingly reminded me of the rest of my day. I thought about the training l would undergo, the insults l would receive from Drake, the tears l would cry, the inferiority l would experience and hopefully l would have some fun, after all l would spend an entire day with all my friends for once.
"Nothing much," l said before smiling to myself.
"Hey, Coop. I just thought... l was wondering if you are feeling fine and all," l muttered.
He gave me a strange look.
"Yeah, why?"
"Nothing," I sat up and pulled my knees to my chest.
"It's jus'that yesterday you took off out of nowhere," l said.
"Everything is fine," he grumbled.
He rolled onto his side and faced away from me.
"Really, Coop? I don't think so,"l said.
"Everything is perfect, don't worry," he said.
"I know you, Coop. This is nothing to be shy about. You can tell me anything..."
Coop suddenly turned to face me and he sat up straight.
"THERE'S NOTHING TO TELL YOU, BECAUSE NOTHING IS WRONG!!"
I snivelled and a tear fell from my eye without my permission. I didn't cry because he had shouted at me; l cried because he felt he couldn't trust me enough to tell me what was bothering him. Coop's sudden rage evaporated as if it were never there to begin with. His green eyes softened and his lips twisted into a pout.
"Fuchsia...l...l...l'm sorry. I didn't mean to shout at you...l...l just..."
"No, it's okay Coop," l said.
I stood up shakily.
"I think l feel ready to jog now," I said plastering on a fake smile when l faced him.
He didn't buy my act apparently but he was not in the mood to fight anymore with me.
"Okay," he nodded and smiled warily.

"So, he just flipped out on you?" Amandla said before she bit into her pita.
I set down my knife and fork on the plate.
"Yeah, Coop snapped at me for no reason, and l have no clue why," l said.
I drank iced tea from the branded mug. Amandla ate her pita before she wiped her face with a serviette.
"I think he's having girl problems," she concluded.
"What? Girl problems?" l said.
Amandla rolled her eyes.
"Please doesn't Coop have a girlfriend?"
"Yes, he does. What does that have to do with anything?"
Amandla sat up straighter and crossed her arms in front of herself.
"That is it! That is the problem, his girlfriend," l said.
Then realisation hit me.
"It is! Yesterday, l was hanging out with him and he left all of a sudden. Do you think he had a fight with his girlfriend? Is that why he was so messed up today?"l said.
"Definitely. My brother and all guys are notoriously in a bad mood after a scuffle with their girlfriends," she said.
I raised a brow.
"Seriously! Remember when Senzo broke up with Ashley? He wouldn't talk to me for a week."
I nodded.
"He was pretty annoying to be around," l said and drank my tea.
"I totally agree," Amandla said.
We sat in companionable silence whilst we were finishing off our breakfasts. Amandla ate her bacon pita and l ate my blueberry waffles with cream and strawberries. After we finished a waitress brought us our bill.
"Thank you for eating at Carlo's Eatery and Treats. Would you wish to eat anything else?"
The woman smiled widely at us.
"No, thank you,"l said.
"May we have the bill?"Amandla said.
The cheerful woman flashed us another smile before returning into the kitchen to fetch our bill.
"Anyway, you should give him some space for now. Avoid him if it's possible."
I sighed. I really couldn't see Coop once school started again, so my vacation was the only time l could. It was nearly impossible to avoid him, but if that's what it took for him to be happy once more. I could sacrifice our time together.
"As much as l hate that idea, l agree with you. I'll do that."
Amandla grinned before reassuring me.
"Don't worry it won't be too long until Coop comes to talk to you. You're just that irresistible," she said.
I blushed and my eyes widened.
"Amandla!"
She giggled. The waitress returned and we paid our bill. Amandla's I-phone 5s chirped. She checked it before standing up.
"Come on, let us go. My uncle is here," she said.
I quickly followed her to a cherry-coloured Jeep Grand Cherokee. That was beautiful. The car's metallic surface was lustrous in the sun's golden rays. Amandla pulled open the front door handle of the car before seating herself in the car's front seat.
