36. Dire Trouble
Multiple people ran out of the dorms, and the light switch was slammed open.
And that, was when the whole situation was visible.
And it was not good.
Not good, at all.
"YOU DID WHAT?!?"
...
The lights were blinding. His head spun in a daze. He was disoriented, and the wind was blown out from his lungs.
Jay lay there, sprawled on the floor, knocked to the ground.
There was commotion all around him.
And it was loud.
A pair of hands grabbed onto him, and pulled him up from the ground and to the side, almost out of harm's way.
Jake screamed in Jay's ear over the noise.
"Hey! Jay, are you hurt?" He asked, although, Jay had to read his lips to decipher what he was saying.
Jay nodded.
"I'm fine!"
Jay was fine, but the situation, evidently, was not.
The person who had fallen on Jake was only just starting to recuperate. Their moves were dizzy and messy, and there were cuts and bruises all over their face.
In fact, their face was so swollen that it was hard to make out who it was.
But once Jake did, a horrified gasp left his mouth. A collective one came from Jay right after.
It was Heesung.
And he looked like he had just been through war.
Heesung had only just managed to get back on his feet when a person, at full speed, rammed into him, grasping for his collar. Heesung gave back the exact same fighting attitude, striking the person's face, and beating down on their arms.
Both of the people were screaming in anger.
Everyone else was screaming in fear.
There were so many people in the room at once, it was hard to keep track about what was going on; there were others bustling around the room, someone, who was unmistakably Sunoo, trying to pry the two fighters apart, and Niki who was standing by the door, almost guarding it in case anyone was going to try and get back into the dorms.
There were loud curses being flung around between the two combatants;
"HOW ABOUT I GIVE YOU A TASTE OF YOUR ATTITUDE?"
"THEY WOULD'VE BROUGHT US DOWN!"
"DO YOU HAVE NO HEART?"
"YOU WANT US TO DIE?"
"YOU RUINED EVERYTHING!"
"IT WAS FOR THE BETTER!"
They kept going back and forth, screeching at each other in a very, very heated argument.
"Stop! Heesung- Jungwon- That's enough!" Sunoo shouted, still trying to pry the two apart.
"YOU HAVE NOTHING TO DO WITH THIS!!!" Heesung shouted.
He pushed Sunoo away, and he stumbled backwards, into a wardrobe. A terrible clash sounded when he hit the wood, but it seemed superficial, as Sunoo was able to regain his ground in an instant, and return back to separating the two again.
This time, however, Jake joined him.
Heesung was fighting Jungwon, striking each other in a brawl. They landed punch after punch, and kick after kick. They were going at each other so furiously that Sunoo and Jake's efforts looked as to be in vain.
Yunjin, like Niki, stood up in a guarding posture. She'd protect Kazuha, whereas Niki was protecting the dorms.
Sunghoon was inside the dorms. He was on the bed, where Sunoo had placed him when they had gotten back.
It there was more with him inside, be it Sakura or Chaewon, she had no clue.
But she did hope it'd be all three.
Heesung toppled over one of the wooden drawers, and it collapsed under his weight. The exterior fell apart, and all sorts of trinkets and vials spilled from under the wooden panes all over the floor. Some of the vials clashed and smashed to pieces, earning a worried gasp from Sunoo.
Whatever had been smashed had been of great importance, but neither Heesung nor Jungwon took notice of it.
Jungwon struck Heesung across the face, and he stumbled backwards, landing against the dining table. His steps were un-coordinated, and his eyes were darting around, not able to keep his focus straight.
Like Heesung, Jungwon also had injuries of his own. A small trail of blood was coming out of his nose, as if it had been struck by blunt force, and a dark bruise had formed around his eye.
"You... You betrayed them! And you think it was for the better? For the better of who? Not us, not them, nobody! How could you make such a rash decision?!?" Jungwon shouted in his fit of rage.
Heesung, while using one hand to support himself on the table, replied in a voice just as hateful;
"They were dragging us down, and will continue to drag us down if you let them stay any longer! My decision wasn't rash, yours was! Look at where you've gotten us now! Is this an ideal situation for you?"
Jungwon clenched up his fists.
"It's never been an ideal situation! Our lives are constantly on the line, we're hunters! That's why we need to help them! Do you know what danger you've put them in? Do you?!?"
Heesung didn't respond. He just glared at Jungwon, not uttering a single word.
"DO YOU KNOW? HEESUNG? WHAT KIND OF PERSON WITH THE SAME RESPONSIBILITIES AS YOU WOULD MERCILESSLY THROW THEM OUT, LEAVING THEM IN SUCH A DIRE SITUATION?"
Jungwon went up to Heesung.
But as he got closer, he realised something.
A small smirk had formed across Heesung's face.
And, in his left hand, he was clutching a table knife.
Heesung reared up, and he plunged it at Jungwon.
...
There was blood.
He could feel it running down his arm, sodding the carpet red as it dripped down to the ground.
There was pain. Immeasurable, sharp and agonising. He screamed in pain, clutching his hand. His steps were staggered, and he would've fallen if it weren't for the person who caught him.
"YOU- HEESUNG?!? LOOK WHAT YOU'VE DONE!!!" Jungwon screamed.
He had utter rage and anger in his voice.
Blood was flowing onto his hands, but it wasn't his blood.
It was Sunoo's.
Jungwon held Sunoo in his arms, as Sunoo clutched his hand, where Heesung's table knife had been impaled into.
Or, more specifically, the knife had been stabbed all the way through his hand, and the point poked out the other end.
Sunoo let out a cry of pain.
He gritted his teeth, and his brain was so focused on the shooting, agonising sensation, that his hand wouldn't stop shaking.
Blood seeped all the way down his hand to his forearm, and it came out in a quick flow.
Quickly, he started to feel faint. Partially because of his loss of blood, but mostly because of the gruelling sight of his hand. Its terrible image was embedded into his mind.
Heesung took a step back, looking down at himself with disbelief.
What had he done?
He tried to apologise to Sunoo in a shaky voice, his jaw uncooperative with his unfocused brain.
"I- I'm I- Sunoo- No- Sun- I didn't... I didn't mean to-" Heesung muttered, but it was drowned out by Sunoo's screams.
Sunoo's legs gave up on him, and Jungwon had to sit him down on the ground, supporting him by his torso.
"Sunoo- Hey... Sunoo calm- Calm down..." Jungwon said, trying to soothe his nerves.
Heesung tried to apologise again, but someone punched him across the face, and he came tumbling down to the floor.
"YOU TRIED TO STAB HIM?!? IS THAT WHAT YOU WANTED TO DO?!? FIRST, YOU BETRAYED THE OTHER TWO, NOW YOU WERE GOING TO BETRAY JUNGWON? YOUR OWN LEADER?!?"
Jake stood above Heesung, blazing. He reared back his hand for another strike, but Jay pulled him back, yet he still cursed Heesung at the top of his lungs.
The entire room was absolute chaos, with people around as onlookers, unable to help, and Sunoo, who was still kicking the ground and crying out loud, there was Heesung also the ground, looking down at his hands in denial, and Jay and Jake, where one was trying to start another fight, whereas the other was trying to prevent it.
"WHERE'S THE AID KIT?!?" Jungwon shouted.
He looked around frantically. It was nowhere in his sight. Not even around Sunoo's waist, like it usually was.
But, he did remember.
There were only two places Sunoo ever kept his medical kits.
One of them was on himself, slung around his waist.
The other place was inside his drawer.
He looked over to the drawer. And he cursed loudly.
The drawer had been crushed. And he had been the reason for it. Jungwon remembered vividly, when he had been fighting Heesung, Heesung had toppled over and broken it.
He could only pray that there was still something in there that he could still use.
Jungwon stood up, and sprinted to the drawer, which was now just wooden debris and crushed glass.
He raked through the contents, not even stopping when the glass shards stabbed at his hands.
Nearly every vial inside had been crushed, and the liquids spilt everywhere, and when Jungwon was searching through the glass, his hand had a weird mix of sensations, as the ointments spilled onto his hands through the cracked bottles.
But still, he sifted through the glass until his hands turned numb, and were covered in miniature cuts and scrapes.
He didn't even know what he was meant to be looking for.
All Jungwon remembered was the honey-coloured substance that Sunoo would always use on them. But he couldn't find a vial of that.
There was a, slightly squashed, but nonetheless useable wad of bandages, near the side of the pile.
It wasn't ideal, but it would have to work.
With a loud and audible curse, he ripped the bandages away from the drawer and it's mangled contents. He shook glass shards off it.
The bandages were tinted a few hints of different colours, because of the spilled ointments, but he hoped that it'd be for the better rather than for the worse.
He ran back to Sunoo, and called Niki to help him.
"Niki, I need some assistance!"
Niki came running over, and stopped beside him. He told Niki instructions in a loud voice, so he could be heard over Sunoo's screaming.
"Hold Sunoo still, because what I'm about to do, is going to hurt!"
"What about the supplies Sunoo has? He's got healing agents, no?" Niki asked.
"Not anymore, for now, at least," Jungwon said, indicating to the drawer.
Niki's face fell.
A knife was embedded in Sunoo's hand, which they needed to remove.
But, without any of the healing agents, it was risky, and it would cause so much pain.
But, there came a voice behind them.
"Wait! I know! You're looking for that healing liquid, right? The honey coloured one?"
Yunjin was talking to them.
She had an idea.
But, little did she know, her idea would soon lead her to know a painful secret.
Jungwon nodded.
"The honey one, yeah! Do you know where it could be? Other than the drawer, I mean."
"Sunoo- he has a medical pack, right?"
"It's been crushed. We'll have no luck with that."
"I know. But Sunoo, he gave one. There's two of these kits in total."
"He has two? Who did he-"
Jungwon stopped mid-sentence.
He remembered it.
Sunoo had given one of the medical packs to Sakura, when they were all going on their first paired mission outside of their headquarters.
Sakura always had it with her.
But, there was one problem.
Yunjin didn't know it.
She didn't know that there was no Sakura. Or Chaewon.
They'd never came back to base.
Because of Heesung. He had kicked them out.
And now, they were stuck, in dire, dire trouble.
