1. Intro: Take the run
Time: 23:05, Monday, October 17
The spirit jumped down from the apartment building, scaling across balconies in its pursuit. The rain poured relentlessly, making the surfaces slippery.
Sunghoon was close behind, jumping down from the ledge, right on the spirit's tail.
The spirit had short black hair, covered by a black hat. He looked like a man, apart from the fact that he bore glowing red eyes, a prime key in which to identify a monster among humans.
The spirit kept on running, shadowed over by the dim night luminance. He was focused; he would do whatever it took to get away, even if it meant killing Sunghoon.
"Stop running, it'll make things easier for the both of us, you know?" Sunghoon shouts, still just behind.
He was almost within reach of the spirit, just about an arms length.
The monster knew he wouldn't be able to outrun Sunghoon.
So, he decided on a last resort.
He would either have to fight his way out of this, or die trying.
The spirit made a sudden stop, which took Sunghoon off guard, he still running at high speeds.
As Sunghoon tried slowing himself down, the spirit used his forward momentum to trip him over.
His crimson blade clattered away as he landed on the ground, rolling and sprawling.
Sunghoon tried regathering himself, dazed and un-centered. His head was spinning and his eyes were blinded by the rainwater beating down on him. He groaned, trying to get to his feet.
Without delay, the spirit rushed forward and struck Sunghoon in the face, sending him backwards. The force caused the metal on the side of a rooftop generator to cave in as he slammed into it.
The force took the air out of his lungs, and he coughed as he rolled over and scampered to his feet, still severely disoriented.
He quickly wiped the rain from his eyes, and he ran forward and took the spirit to the ground.
"Freaking hunters!" Shouted the monster in rage, quickly standing up and swinging his arm forward, going in for a heavy punch.
Sunghoon ducked out the way, just in time, and ran for his blade.
He reached it, clasping his hand around the slippery crimson handle.
But, as he turned around, he found that the spirit had quickly caught up with him. The monster was only a few feet away, his eyes burning a fiery satan red color, and his hands were ready.
Sunghoon wasn't quick enough; the monster closed up on him, ripping his blade away with one hand and clasping his neck with the other.
The spirit's grip was unexpected, and within a second, Sunghoon was already gasping for air.
He was lifted off his feet, suspended by only his neck. He attempted to loosen the monster's grip, but it remained unchanged. He couldn't breathe. Without his blade, he was done for.
"So... weak, for a hunter..." The spirit said, its voice coming out as no longer a human's voice, but a hissing voice.
Sunghoon felt that his eyes were about to pop out from the monster's grasp. He could feel his face aching because of the lack of blood circulation.
"I'll make certain to add you to my list of victims. I'll consume your heart, and I'll become stronger..." The monster hissed, half laughing to himself.
Sunghoon felt his arms and fingertips becoming weaker, and his sight becoming ever darker. There was nothing more he could do.
He tried one last time to break his neck free, but to no avail.
His arms fell to his sides, and his eyes started to close.
He was going to die.
He was sure of it.
The spirit smiled from ear to ear and said, "Go on, die. I'll help..."
The monster reared back his hand, ready to plunge it into Sunghoon's heart.
He counted down.
"Three..."
"Two..."
"One-"
The arm came forward, and Sunghoon could hear the gouging of flesh and the pour of blood on the floor.
But he didn't feel anything.
The monster's grip was released, and Sunghoon fell to the floor, unconscious.
The spirit screamed, and it was looking down at its hands, which were severed all the way through, leaving two bleeding stubs.
There was also someone else. Her long black hair was drenched, and her face fully focused. She had a sapphire Wakizashi (small katana) in her hand, and it was dripping with black blood.
The monster screamed in rage.
"YOU- HOW COULD YOU?!?!"
She looked up at the spirit, meeting eyes with it.
"You spirits are so full of yourselves... Thinking you can continue on a killing spree without a care in the world?" She said, swinging her katana around.
Without warning, she ran forward with great agility, and plunged her weapon into the heart of the monster. The spirit barely had time to even register it because of her speed.
The monster couldn't even scream, it just stared down in terror as it started dissaperating, turning into black smoke.
Once it was nothing but soot in the rain, the girl sheathed her sword, and hurriedly rushed over to Sunghoon, who was still on the floor, badly injured. She felt for his pulse, and breathed a sigh of relief when she found out he was alive.
She put her finger to her earpiece, and said, "Sakura, can you hear me? I got the spirit, but there's someone here, and he's injured, you need to get here fast."
A small voice, coming from the intercom replied, "Ok, I see you on the building there, I'll be with you soon Kazuha, just stay put."
Another voice, a third person, joined in the conversation.
"Make sure to erase their memories afterwards, no human can know about what we're doing. Ok, Kazuha?"
The girl, seemingly called Kazuha, looked at Sunghoon, and her eyes stopped upon his leather sheathe.
"Kazuha? Are you going to answer me or not?"The intercom asked again.
Kazuha put her hands to her earpiece again, speaking in a rushed voice.
"Yunjin... I think- I think he's a hunter..." she said, stuttering in shock.
The intercom errupted in multiple answers, belonging to about four different people.
"A hunter?!?-"
"Are you sure?"
"How?"
"No way..."
Kazuha responded to them.
"Eunchae, Chaewon, Yunjin, Sakura, if you don't believe me or if you think I'm wrong, then come over and see for yourself."
Someone landed on the rooftop behind Kazuha, she speaks with the same voice as the first person. She was in an all-black attire, just like Kazuha, and her dark chestnut hair tied up in a ponytail.
"Kazuha, I'm here." She said, immediately going over to her, next to Sunghoon.
"Thank God. Sakura. Please just help him." Kazuha said, breathing a sigh of relief.
Sakura looked at Sunghoon's neck, and spotted the deep purple bruise nearly wrapping around entirely. She took out a cherry blossom from her pocket, and used her rose-gold Wakizashi to cut into the middle, letting the sap fall onto his neck.
The bruise subsided, and it disappeared completely. Like magic.
"You're lucky that you got here fast enough. Any later, and he would've been dead." Sakura said, patting Kazuha on the back.
Kazuha let out a small smile, happy that she was able to save a life.
"But..." Sakura said, her face a little confused.
"... are you sure he's a hunter like us? Because, I don't see a weapon."
After a brief pause, Kazuha replied,
"I'm confused too, honestly. But- maybe he lost it while fighting?"
Sakura took a second to contemplate.
"But then, where would it be? Where could the weapon be?"
All of a sudden, another voice spoke.
"Here. The weapon is here."
Sakura and Kazuha turned their heads towards the speaker.
"Yunjin, Chaewon, Eunchae... you're finally here. You scared me just a moment ago."Kazuha says, smiling.
Yunjin was holding a crimson blade in her hand; Sunghoon's blade.
She smiled towards Kazuha, and held out the weapon.
"Well, well, well... Kazuha, you've found another new hunter."
