Twelve.
The weight of Logan slipping back into bed beside me, forced my eyes to open. Groaning I rolled over slightly, frowning as I reached the cold section of bedding. Since he got up, I had taken over the middle where ihe had been minutes earlier. The curtains blocked out the majority of sunlight and since we had gone to bed, little sleep had been taking place. Despite still feeling the afterglow of the moment, I was tired. The night had caught up to me and what ever rush had fueled the morning was all gone.
As Logan got settled back in I returned to his side so we were now lying face to face, silent - just absorbing each others presence. Nothing else really mattered right now. Just us.
Logan and I.
Me and Logan.
Weird.
"What's the time?" Of course I ruin the moment by speaking first.
"Nearly ten."
I feel his lips on my cheek, before the pressure of his forehead is against mine. I want to make some kind of sarcastic comment about personal space or his breath, but I'm enjoying it too much. Plus he just brushed his teeth so he was minty fresh.
"Get some sleep Bunny." For the first time in history, I do as he says. Not that I could force myself to stay awake any longer anyway.

"Bye baby Bunting, Daddy's gone a hunting. Gone to fetch a shifter skin, to wrap his baby Bunting in..." The chords of the piano repeat the lullaby, a beautiful melody that draws me from my slumber.
"Mum?" I mumble, yawning I look around to find my room deserted. How did I not feel Logan get up?
Again the soft tune in played, only I soon realize it's not my mum singing at all and the voice is male. Panic balloons in my gut; something is wrong. I quickly pull on some clothes and opening my bedroom door, I'm not in my house. Cold, stone walls create a corridor and turning to go back into my room, it's gone.
Somewhere in the back of mind a voice pipes up, telling me its just a dream, but everything feels too real to believe it. I walk slowly, cautiously looking around and at the end of the passage, the warm orange glow of light lures me in. The stone floor is replaced by wood, the darkness of the walls gone to a nicer cream paint with rich red drapes covering the windows. It's a ballroom and the light radiates down from one of the grandest chandeliers I've ever seen.
"Bye baby Bunting, time for you to go a hunting. Got to catch the vampire kin and then the baby Bunting will win," he sings from behind the sleek back piano against the back wall. I can't see his face, the hood of his black cape hides it from view and against my better judgment, I walk towards him.
He hits the keys harder, the tune no longer gentle - blasting through the instrument like something out of Phantom of the Opera. Covering my ears, the noise is too loud and is soon replaced by his cackling laugh. It's then he stands, kicking back the stool so it flies across the room and splinters into pieces.
"Who are you?" I demand, subtly walking towards the chunks of wood I might be able to use as a weapon. Problem is, I don't think he is a vampire, but getting stabbed in the chest, or anywhere is bound to hurt. The more I try to read him, the less I get.
Slowly he turns, and I am frozen in place as he pulls back the hood, taking the robe off completely to reveal a man that resembles the guy calling himself Dracula. Tall dark and handsome doesn't quite cut it and as he smiles, I know he is definitely not human. His dark eyes swirl, loosing all sign of white making him look purely demonic and rather confidently he comes closer.
"How presumptuous of me to think you would be able to recognize me Hunter!" He doesn't sound like the vamp. His voice heavy with an English accent that reminds me of royalty. "Then again, we have never been formally introduced."
I don't think I want to be, yet as he extends his hand I can't stop myself from taking it. My hand slips into his hold, and ever so slowly he brings my knuckles up to his lips with the faintest of kisses being placed there.
"Lord Andra Dracul. You may know me as Lord Alpha?"
Pulling my hand away, I take a step back - unable to stop the gasp from leaving me. "I don't believe it!"
This only makes him chuckle. "I suppose not. The last time we met, I did look a little, different."
"I killed you." I stutter.
"You can't kill what was already dead, Hunter."
I can feel it now, feel his power, dominance and species. How did I miss it? How was this happening? "What do you want?"
"Your help."
"No." Wake up, wake up, wake up!
"You don't even know what I am proposing?" He purrs, coming closer. Clicking his fingers, my sweatpants and t-shirt disappear and instead I'm in a rather elborate ball gown, like I just walked out of a historical fiction novel.
"I don't need to know, my answer is-"
"Come now darling girl, I won't be asking for much." He takes my arm and I'm dragged to the centre of the ballroom. Where the piano sat, an orchestra has taken it's place and a waltz fills the room. I have no idea how to dance like this, yet before I know it we're circling the floor in perfect sync. "You move beautifully."
We dance and I feel myself getting lost in the motion of it all.
"Since you killed me, like your ancestor - do you not think you, owe me one?" He whispers into my ear, keeping us closer together now.
"No. I'm a Hunter, it's what we do."
"Do not lie to me. I see all girl. Perhaps you can explain to me then, why you kept your little snake friend alive and didn't burn him like you were taught? Are you not friends with a vampire, don't you love a vampire?" He spins me around and lets me go, leaving me completely off balance as I turn back to face him.
"What?"
"So now I have your attention?" Andra smirks.
"What do you want?" I sigh.
"Freedom. I can help you stop my sibling if-"
"Sibling?"
"You met him earlier, come on Hunter, surely you're not that stupid?" He is mocking me now.
"Dracula?" He only nods. "You're delusional if you think I can help give you your freedom. Don't worry, I plan on letting you get back to your brotherly bonding soon!"
I turn to leave, not sure if that will actually get me out this, but he is in front of the door instantly. "You underestimate him and me. Tell me, have you seen his little party trick?"
"You apparently see all, so you tell me?" I snap back.
He only laughs. "Do you not question our relation if I am a shifter and he a vampire? People are turned into those demons, not born. Nothing is at it seems Hunter, so open your eyes!"
-x-
I wake up with a gasp, startling Logan awake too. As I frantically move to get out of bed, my elbow connects with his nose instantly making him curse, yet I'm too busy trying to get my breath back to apologise.
"What the fuck was that for?" He groans, looking over. In seconds he is up and in front of me. "Breathe Elise, you're okay!"
I haven't had this kind of panic attack for months. Logan is still talking, but I can't hear him and a wave of nausea hits me hard. My thoat feels like someone is crushing it, while my lungs start to burn with a need for air. Something wet is on my face before I realise I'm actually crying and opening my eyes, Logan is gone and instead Zane is there. The surprise of that clears my mind enough for me to listen and actually focus on the sounds in the room.
"What the fuck did you do?" Jordan is yelling and Logan sounds even more pissed off than him as he yelled back.
"Nothing! She woke up like this!"
It then occurs to me I was naked when I went to sleep, but the feeling of something over my shoulders settles those new fears.
"Deep breaths Bunting," Zane commands, and looking into his eyes I only nod. "Better?"
I nod again and risk looking down to find myself dressed in the same clothes as my dream. I don't remember that.
"Just get out!" Jordan snaps, and Zane and I look over to see the pair of them close to blows.
"No!" I croak, coughing before standing up. Zane takes my arm as I sway, my head spinning from the quick movement. "Jordan, settle down!"
Looking at Logan, he has blood around his nose and I wonder if that was my doing or Jordan's.
"Settle down? We get back to find you freaking out and him like this and-" He should be glad he didn't get back a couple of hours ago because for one, Logan has his boxers on now. "Why are you laughing?"
I stop instantly, not realising I had been. "Nothing. Can you all just get out!"
"Ellie, what-"
"Out!" I find my voice and Zane leaves, shoving the other two out with him, "No, Logan stay!"
Zane stops Jordan from doing anything else and as he closes the door I sink to my knees and let out a deep breath. Logan comes back to sit in front of me, his anger gone and replaced by concern. "Sorry about your nose."
"That wans't on purpose? Win for me!" He jokes, yet he soon turns serious. "What was that about?"
"I don't know. I had this, dream, and the Lord Alpha was there. Said he was Drac's brother."
"Were you fighting him or something?" Logan pulls me closer and I shake my head.
"No, I danced with him." I giggle at how strange that would sound and filled him in on what happened. "And then I woke up."
"You should tell Zane and the others. They need to know what happened last night too." Again I find myself agreeing with him. Things just kept weirder and weirder.
"I know, come on. Lets clean up your nose and hopefully they brought food with them!"
"Really, you're thinking of food now?"
"Aren't you?" As if to prove a point, his stomach growled and shaking his head, he was soon nodding as he helped me up.
"What do you want to tell them, about us?" Logan asked hesitantly.
"Um... What do you want to tell them?"
"That's not an answer." He frowned before sighing, "I'm going to get get cleaned up."
I let him walk out before going into my wardrobe and finding actual clothes to put on. Once I was done, I found Logan doing the same thing in his room and knew we couldn't start something, not talking to each other. Going up behind him, I slipped my arms around his waist and rested my head against his back. He was tense, and I could feel the muscles constricting against my cheek before he relaxed. Turning, he pulled my arm around so I was made to face him.
"I told you I'd always wait for you Bunny, you just don't make it easy on a guy." He kissed the tip of my nose, making me smile.
"As if I would." This time I kissed him, forgetting our past and enjoying the present.
Until Jordan walked in.
"Woah! What the- no!" He spat out, shocked and clearly disgusted as he shielded his eyes. "Why are you kissing my sister?"
"Guess we found out what we're telling them now huh?" I winked at Logan before taking him by the hand and leading him past Jordan who was still acting completely mortified.
He came behind us, still making gagging sounds, which had the room turning to look at us.
"You're not going to believe what I just walked in on!" He declared.
"What?" Chris asked, unpacking small white boxes on my dining table. The smell coming from that direction was heavy.
"Them two! Kissing!" Again he gagged and Chris only laughed.
"Keep it PG you two!"
"What?" I asked innocently, ditching Logan in favor of the food.
"About time, you can't actually be surprised by that!" Keiran spoke up from where he sat with Raya on the single sofa in the corner.
"Yeah Jord, even you were wondering how long it would take!" Raya laughed.
"I didn't expect to walk in on that though!" Jordan glared at Logan, "How long has this been going on for?"
"Like this morning!" Logan held his hands up innocently and I let the group talk it out while guarding a box of stir fry beef.
It's always the way, everyone else can see it, but you and turns out Chris and Raya even had a bet going on how long it would be until we'd be reunited. Since Logan and I were now a source of entertainment for the group, we stuck to opposite sides of the room to avoid giving them more fuel for the fire.
By the time we finished eating, everything had settled down, well only as far as my love life was concerned.
"So, how did you do it Ellie?" Chris was the first to change the topic and I looked at him completely clueless.
"Do what?"
"Get V out! Come on, we wont' tell anyone!" He promised, crossing his heart.
I looked over at Zane who had been silent since we'd come out and biting my lip, I glanced at Jordan who had a similar, passive look on his face.
"I can't tell you."
"Why?" Raya asked, leaning forward slightly as everyone was dying to hear.
"I don't think I'm suppose to tell you." Ailin wasn't here and I knew her involvement wasn't meant to be known. "But I was behind it. I will admit that."
"And the zombies?" Chris glanced at Jordan.
"V put the stick in the ground." I told them about our pit stop at the supplies store, skipped over his midnight snack and then filled them in what happened at the cemetery before they got there.
"So how was Ailin there?" Keiran asked first.
"She found out about V getting out and came straight to me," I lied, well it was kind of the truth.
Everyone went quiet.
"But that's not all of it. Before V created the zombies, he said someone was already in the tomb and this was part of what the other person had planned. He then told me I needed to be ready and waiting tonight and then left me to deal with that mess."
"So then what happened?" Jordan finally spoke.
"Well after you guys got there and I was left with Loges, I remembered V had my bag and I've learned to use technology now too. He took my bag, and V had told me he was going to stay there. Turns out there was a tunnel under the tomb and so I decided to follow the tracking device before I lost him and Logan came too."
Zane sighed, running his hands down his face in a similar display of being stressed out like Dad. "Then you two found them while we were dealing with the first mess?"
"Ten points to Zane!" I joked, stopping as I caught the look he gave me. "They had a boat waiting for them and we had him, but then I went to stop V and he got free and before I knew what was happening I was tied up and being loaded on board." I shrugged, simple really.
"Who is he?" Zane was first to ask.
"Dracula." Logan answered for me and everyone shared a look.
"Which then brings me to the ah, third part of my story." I don't get to keep talking as there is a knock on the door.
Zane and Jordan are up before I can put down my drink and the voices that follow have everyone relaxing. Almost everyone as Logan comes to sit beside me on the floor and pulls me to sit against him.
Drew, Tom and Nigel walk in and looking at Logan, I roll my eyes.
"What did we miss?" Nigel acts like he owns the place, taking a chair from the dining table and moving it to beside the sofa - after he's helped himself to our lunch leftovers.
"Those two are together!" Chris pipes up, and Nigel groans before pulling a twenty out his pocket.
"Are you serious?" Now I'm pissed off.
"We've been wasting time patrolling around your house. It's fucking boring, we need something to do!" Nigel defends. "I also had thirty on the snake taking out Tom, but that was called off after someone sent him away."
Logan dares to laugh and I elbow him in the ribs, shutting him up. Thinking of Alfie, I try to stop the rush of emotions at how much I miss him, but with the vampires around and considering they'd already netted him it was safer for him to be out of harms way.
"You can't keep letting her get away with everything!" Tom snaps from the doorway, his attempt at whispering to Zane failing.
"What am I letting her get away with Tom? Hey Elise, what was that you mentioned about Dracula?" Zane calls out.
"Drac- What are you on about?" Tom demands.
Nigel stops eating and Drew looks over at me frowning. "Dracula?"
It's no secret one of the Van Helsings main claims to fame was taking out the vampire. It then hits me that if anyone knew about one of the more infamous vampires, not just in our culture, but human as well it would be these three. Then again, I didn't really know much about the Lord Alpha and my family had a habit of taking him out.
"He's here, using V to mess with us. Logan and I met him last night." I get up and go over to Drew. "The stories of him turning into bats, crows and even a wolf isn't fiction is it?"
"No. He comes from a long line of wolf shifters." Drew confirms, "what made him so powerful was the fact he managed to still be turned into a vampire despite this. Somehow he got a few new tricks and it wasn't just a wolf he could shift into either."
Shifters, werewolves and vampires don't usually mix well. The fact a vampire would turn one into one of them is unheard of. Apparently their blood doesn't digest well and the vampire who feeds off them usually ends up killing itself as it the blood turns toxic in their system.
"But he's dead. He was killed hundreds of years ago." Tom adds nothing to the conversation and I only glare at him.
"He turned into a bat this morning, just before dawn and flew off. V left me on the boat and they took off. He told me to be ready tonight and Drac said he'd see me again before he left." I did a bit of a run through more for Nigel and Drew of what happened while the others were fighting the zombies.
"They got him out of the Other World." Nigel looked terrified and I went over to Zane.
"There is one more thing too."
"Seriously?" Jordan sighed, banging his head rather dramatically on the wall beside him. "Of all the sisters in the world, I get the one that attracts the biggest of the big and bad."
"Cause I totally planned it this way!"
Before a sibling war can break out, Zane keeps me on track. "What is the one more thing?"
I tell him about the dream they walked in at the end of and all three Van Helsings group together, whispering under their breath.
"Care to share with the rest?" Chris finally speaks again, crossing his arms unhappily as we all look at the trio.
"There were rumours Drac had a sibling, it was just never discovered who he was. They had different mothers and considering their royal status, it was kept quiet and off the records. For the Lord Alpha to share that piece of information, it answers a few questions, but makes a lot more!" Drew was the only one willing to talk and I had never seen Tom look so pale.
"Whats wrong Tommy? Scared of a vampire?" I taunted.
"Yes. If it is him, you should be too." He warned, taking out his phone he went out into the backyard.
"V said there were others. He doesn't know who they are except for Drac because he was the one he has been dealing with." I thought out loud, "If Tom is scared of this guy and he is as bad as his reputation, who the fuck else do we have to be worried about?"
"We know they're planning something big, but V has wasted enough of our time. We need to start looking bigger. Maybe if we can get this guy and make him talk -" Zane starts, clearly working on a new plan.
It's then I can see how tired he is, and the others too. Unlike Logan and I, they didn't get a chance to sleep and considering they're all dressed the same, they probably cleaned up at the warehouse.
"No. Not yet at least." Of course that makes everyone look at me funny. "You lot, sleep and rest. If V was hinting at something happening tonight, you all need to be alert and right now, you're not. Logan and I will go with Drew and Nigel to where, Drew and I met that demon. Tom can stay here and keep an eye on things while you all rest."
"But-" I hold up my hand, silencing Zane.
"You know I"m right. That demon knew stuff and I think we've overlooked that."
Everyone looks between us, waiting to see what he's going to do.
"Fine. You three, look after her. You better all be back by nightfall." Zane comes over and hugs me, "Good luck sunshine and you better be back otherwise I'm going to cuff you to me!"
"I don't think my boyfriend would like that!" I whisper back making him laugh.
He heads off into his room and Chris disappears into the one he's been sharing with Logan and Jordan. I change the bedding in my room and let Keiran and Raya go in there and come out to find Logan and Jordan arguing in the kitchen. As soon as they sense me they stop and Jordan pretty much tells me the same thing as Zane.
"Please, please be back by nightfall. I love you sis, but this shit is getting full on!"
"I know Jord, stop worrying. You'll be looking like Dad before you hit thirty if you keep it up!" The concern everyone had for me was touching, yet I hated how the sudden rush of it made it feel like they were almost saying goodbye and that didn't sit well with me. "I'll be back, you're turning this into a funeral."
"Sorry, I didn't mean to. I want to come too, but you're right. We need some sleep."
"Then go!" He smiles and disappears towards the bedroom, leaving me with Logan, Drew and Nigel, not forgetting Tom when he comes back in.
"Where is everyone?"
"Asleep, you're on nap duty." Nigel smirks.
"What?" He snaps, looking at each of us to see if we're kidding.
"I promoted myself to team leader, and I vote you stay to keep an eye on things while everyone sleeps. We're all going out!" I can't help feel a little smug telling him that.
"I'm not part of Zane's team for you to boss around!"
"Funny thing is, neither am I, but here we are. We'll be back by nightfall." I pat him on the shoulder as I pass and I hear Nigel say something to him before coming out the front with us.
"So what is your plan?" Drew comes over to where I'm going through Zane's weapon stash in the back of his car.
"Um, find that incubus and hope he's feeling chatty again?" I pass him a few daggers and he obediently adds them to his belt. "Or maybe we'll find some other demon we can use?"
"Sounds like a, plan, kind of?" He smiles and I punch his arm lightly.
"So you and the Tracker finally happened then?" Drew asks softly, glancing over to where Logan is taking a cyclinder of arrows from my garage and putting them with the crossbow in Nigels car. For some reason it makes me think of Mum and I can't help but wonder if Logan's skill with that came from her. Jordan had mentioned stopping by there before they came here and she always had a soft spot for him.
"Yeah, it's amazing what killing zombies and being taken hostage can do for a relationship!"
"I'm happy for you, I hope things work out for you Ellie. You deserve it." I forgot he knew about everything, but I'm kind of glad of it too. Drew is one of my favourite people and now that I think about it, my friend circle has expanded quite a lot since last year. Even Nigel is alright and the sense of belonging I get from having actual, real friends is, nice. I never really made friends with Matts social group. They were nice, but I was constantly having to pretend to be someone and something I wasn't. Even in my classes I never really, connected with those people.
"Thanks Drew. I'm glad I met you, you know!"
"Now who sounds like they're at a funeral?" He teases, tugging on my ponytail as he heads over to his brothers car.
"Ow! Jerk!" I yell at him.
"You love me really!" He calls back laughing.
I've just locked up the car when Logan is back. "So-"
"Don't. He's a friend Logan, friend."
"I get that now, but what about before?" It's obvious what he is really asking.
"Friend Logan. I only said that before to try and piss you off!" I wasn't about to start some messy kind of love triangle again, all thanks to a one night stand that turned into something I never expected. I guess we both had issues with the past.
"I thought so, but yeah. Forget I said anything." He said quickly, almost like he was embarrassed, before turning to walk over to the car.
"Logan, stop!" I didn't really know what to say, but felt like I needed to do something. Are relationships always this hard? "You're it for me too okay? I meant what I said, I trust you and I want you and us and everything. If you have doubts or questions - I don't care what they are, ask me. If you're even wondering about Matt, nothing happened there either!"
"Well, no, I wasn't, but thanks for clearing that up too!" I can't help blush slightly, considering the fact I looked over to see Nigel leaning on the car door listening in.
"You two need a minute to make out or something? Cause I kind of want to make sure I get a certain Hunter back by nightfall. Zane's literally kicked my ass before, don't want to go through round 2!" He calls out, getting into the car.
Logan takes my hand. "Come on Bunny, lets go find some demons!"
"Wow, you really know how to show a girl a good time Loges!" We get in and after an argument with Nigel over letting me drive, which I lose, we head back to Forest Rocks.
