CHAPTER 4 - COUNCIL SYMPOSIUM
Meanwhile, in the largest building in the top floor at the heart of the city was a large cube-shaped building-The Council Symposium, one of the most heavily guarded facilities in Varken, it was where Christopher Brown and the rest of the council members resided. The Council Symposium oversaw that everything going on in Varken was to benefit the city.
A large hologram stood before the building, the image before the building was huge, bigger than even the building and it was of the leader of Varken as he calmly watched the city in his grey uniform decorated with all sorts of medals he had achieved over the years.
Several flying hovercrafts in all shapes and sizes flew by, some were normal citizens going about their daily activities, others were supply ships from the Builder territory. If one was to look at up at the sky of the city of technology he's see several ships flying in large numbers and in an organized pattern as if ants were moving.
Several large tall buildings stood beside Council Symposium, they towered to the clouds and had several lights in them where hundreds of people lived and worked. Every citizen above the lower floors had a job and most involved the effective running of electricity which the city thrived on. Solar and Hydro power were used hand in hand and everyday ships were sent flying to the waterbodies to retrieve water to be used as electricity.
Even though the Mountain of White made it near impossible for people to cross, there was another section near the Builder Territory that led out to the ocean, ships were sent from Varken city to the Builder territory to retrieve water and each ship to be used to withdraw water was always escorted by Fox-Drones to ensure the Builders didn't try anything.
Sometimes even the main heads of the city used that route to gain access to other territories and discuss possible solutions to their various problems. Though most of the time, the heads remained in their safe haven, in the cube like building that was the Council Symposium.
A large ship called 'The Firefly 14.9' built by the Varken Factories situated beneath the Council Symposium, headed for the large cube building, lights shone out of the ship in multiple locations. It was the biggest ship built and its purpose was to carry distinguished individuals to different cities but until the problem at The Mountain of White was resolved it was futile.
In the main room which was at the top floor sat the leader of the city, the floor was made of glass enabling one to glance down and see the factory below working on their inventions, several large robotic arms moved in unison as they picked, broke apart and fixed together complicated machinery. In the main room in each corner stood men in their uniforms but upon closer inspection one would've noticed the millions of thin white lines in their skin or their glowing eyes, the androids stood silently without moving a muscle. Behind them was a hologram of the symbol of Varken, a hammer and nail interconnecting each other.
Christopher sat on his chair as he tapped his fingers gently on his glass table, hovering around him was an Info-Drone, the small silver ball flew quietly around him. Christopher had blonde long hair with silver lining, he had a long nose and had grown his moustache his one good eye had an itch as he rubbed them furiously and then softly touched the metallic patch on his right.
''What are the reports?'' he mumbled, whenever his left eye itched, it meant that there was trouble brewing somewhere. The silver ball that hovered quietly a few seconds ago reported ''The Builders have organized another revolution but are being held off by Hunter Patrick in Sector V...Communications have somewhat improved and FLOVEN has informed us that Vern activity has increased, they have been able to increase in numbers, their followers grow every day and TETROS still wages war on PILTO-NO CITY. There have been no word from the other provinces or colonies. Food and water supply is still running effectively for the time being. More 4th Generation BIOGEN are being brought in by the Builders. DIRT has relayed information that the criminal Owen is still at large and was last sighted at The Shack and the two children of Paul Treasure and David Nevins respectively were spotted by Varken soldiers exiting the lower sections.''
Christopher groaned ''what are those boys doing?'' he sighed, they definitely took this sort of behaviour from their dads, it was the worst thing imaginable. He then caught sight of people walking towards his hallway and he nodded and made a hand gesture and suddenly the room he was in lit up and chairs appeared out of nowhere as holograms at first before they solidified and the guests took their seat, no one spoke and Christopher looked out the large glass wall at the city for a while before he turned to face the guests.
''My dear friends, it's good to see you again'' Christopher said ''I trust that your families are doing well, I have summoned you here today because a huge matter requires us here, as you are well aware The Vern Revolution has become a huge problem for the governments and though at first Varken seemed unaffected, I'm afraid their reach has finally come to this city''
Paul frowned ''they were able to infiltrate the city?'' he asked in disbelief ''that's impossible, even we hunters are unable to do that, with all those creatures out there''
Christopher nodded ''we must consider the possibility that they know of another entrance here, for the moment, it seems that they are just here on a reconnaissance mission and so we are very lucky to have made this discovery before they made further plans'' he said as waved his hand again and a hologram of the world appeared.
The map showed a detailed description of the new continents and cities that had developed over the years after the great plague, there were several running red dots throughout most of the major continents, running numbers of matrix could be seen beside the map as the data was explained further by Christopher.
''As you can see from this map, the Verns have gained more followers, they were even spotted in TETROS of all places, a place thought impenetrable'' Christopher pointed to the map and David laughed as he played with his fingers, fire silently burned on his nails. Paul looked at his friend, at his dark long hair that looked like he just went swimming, his dark brown eyes, his bushy eyebrows as David bellowed ''We have been too lenient Chris!'' the council silently watched as David stood up and walked towards the holographic map.
''The Verns were just a radical group who believed in the old ways and I suggested earlier on that they be wiped before they grow into something that we cannot handle and now look at this...they have become more than just a group, what we are looking at is the early stages of a full army'' he said.
''so what are you suggesting we do, we cannot just send out hunters to fight a war, the city is barely holding its own, what would you have us do if those creatures were to infiltrate our walls that have stood for a thousand years thanks to Paul's grandfather Finlay'' Robert said as he looked at Paul.
David scoffed ''I know of my friend's family history of heroes, do not lecture me on that you coward''
''Watch yourself boy'' Robert said angrily.
David rose his hands and went on ''I have no desire to fight with you but Christopher, even you must admit that you sense what I tell is right, our best option right now is to send out our best''
''to fight the Verns?'' Paul asked and David shook his head and said ''no my friend, we need to find it''
