Backlash.

Dijon growled as he raced into the city. It was the middle of the night and Fall City was under attack. He couldn't think straight as he raced forward and looked around. The others were supposed to be held back while the Base Leaders, Main Rangers and Top Rangers were to be on the front lines. But with what he heard from Lapis, he was alerted.

~~~
"I can't do this, Captain..."
"I know Lapis. We'll figure it out. But we need to help them out."
"Just the three of us need to go help. You can pass out afterwards."
"O-ok..."
~~~

He had to take the front lines. They sounded exhausted. He kept moving until he heard a scream of pain. He panicked as he raced over. Fuck orders right now. He had to get over there.

And that's when he saw the scene.

Most of the rangers were unconscious or about to collapse as the female from the factory commanded an Infernape to attack. Lapis was the last one standing with Aria trying to get up. Her aura was dying as she tried to get to at least Lapis. Dijon was frozen at the scene as he hid around a corner. Parchment was able to join him.

"They..." He trembled as Lapis blocked an attack. He saw the older ranger shake as he pushed the fire type off him. Dijon's eyes flashed as he spoke.

"Parchment... I'm about to strike with no mercy on that woman. Be ready to get to the others." She nodded. "And also... don't tell anyone what you witness." She blinked but nodded again. He smiled before racing out and blocking the Infernape's next attack, letting Lapis relax.

"Dijon..."

The redhead didn't listen as he pushed it back. The moon hummed as he raced at the enemy and Parchment got to the others. He first went to capture the Infernape. It put up quite the fight, but he was able to get it calmed down and released. He then targeted the female. That's when the challenge hit. He pulled out his sword and clashed with an arrow. He paused as a bow joined it.

"How interesting..."

The arrow lit up and she fired it. He dodged it and swung at her again. They held steady grounds as he snuck a glance at the others. Parchment had to pause her task at getting the others to safety deal with some grunts that Dijon's opponent had no doubt brought. He growled as he pushed her back and kept the assault going. He was able to force her into a retreat.

"Maybe... we'll see each other soon... until then..."

She suddenly vanished, causing him to hiss. He then raced over and aided Parchment in cleaning up the field. She was pretty scraped up from the ambush as she tiredly grabbed Lapis, who was in a daze.

"Parchment... you did great..." She nodded as she smiled at him.

"Same for you..." He smiled as he started grabbing the remaining rangers and getting them onto the Dodrio Parchment had grabbed.

"Let's go..."

^*^

He was in his room resting when a knock appeared at the door. He didn't want to answer it, but he should.

"Yes?"

"It's me, Sage. Can I come in?"

"Don't die."

A shaky laugh followed as the door opened. Sage sat down on the bed as Dijon turned over. The captain was extremely pale and was wrapped up pretty badly.

"What did you need?" Sage sighed.

"Lapis told me you joined the fight."

"Oh yeah... he was mostly conscious at that point." Sage chuckled faintly before humming.

"Why?" Dijon looked up at the captain.

"You guys sounded tired before you went out there. I wanted to be there in case you guys couldn't do it. I'm glad I did." Sage smiled silently as he shakily stood up.

"Be ready. You might be needing to do patrol for us." He nodded as the captain went to the door.

"Careful. Don't let the stress kill you." Sage could only chuckle as he left.
