Chapter 5
Victoria's POV
I was tired and frustrated. I've been in London for over a week looking around trying to find Jaydan, but still there was no sign of him. I visited most of the tourist attraction in London and I was certain I saw the whole of London.
I walked on the side walk feeling hopeless. I missed Jaydan. I needed to see him. I needed to apologize and I needed to make things right. Right at that moment when I felt like I couldn't go any further I walked passed a café and I decided to grab a coffee. When I entered the café I headed to the counter where I was greeted by a friendly barista.
"Good day, what can I get for you miss?" She asked with a smile.
"A hot latte," I said and she nodded before she started to work on my drink. While my eyes scanned over the people in the café my eyes landed on a handsome man with disheveled dark hair and my heart stopped.
After all this time of searching my eyes landed on Jaydan and his eyes met mine. He wasn't alone, a blond girl sat across from him and I couldn't breathe. I quickly took out a $20 bill and threw it on the counter.
"Leave the latte," I said in a rushed tone before I rushed out of the cafe. I couldn't stand the thought of him with someone else. I know I was the one who called the wedding off, but my heart still broke. It hurts to know that he moved on so quickly. I felt stupid. After all my running around I finally find him, only to find out that he already moved on. I felt so stupid for coming. I was the one who called it off and I didn't deserve to be angry at him for moving on.
"Victoria!" A voice called that stopped me in my tracks. I felt a hand wrap around my wrist before I was turned around. I came face to face with Jaydan.
"Jaydan..." I whispered.
"I can't talk now, but please meet me at my room," he said as he pushed a hotel key card in my hand. I nodded numbly. He gave me a smile before he turned around and left me alone on the side walk. It felt surreal to see him after all this time. Like I was living in a dream. I looked down at the key card in my hand and almost laughed when I noticed that it was the same hotel I was staying at only one floor up.
I rushed back to the hotel and made my way to Jaydan's room. I couldn't believe that after all this time searching for him I finally found him.
I swiped the card before it made a small beeping noise and I stepped inside. It was neat and if I didn't know any better I wouldn't have thought that somebody was living here. I looked around and my heart stopped when I saw the pictures of us on his bedside table. The ones that were missing from the lair. Maybe there was hope afterall. His room was similar to mine, except his clothes were packed away in the closet. After scanning around the room I took a seat on the bed as I played with my fingers. I was practicing what I was going to say to him and how I was going to apologise.
There were so many things I wanted to say to him, but after I saw them it was like all the words I prepared has left my mind. My thoughts were broken by a knock on the door and I braced myself for what was to come. I opened the door and for a whole minute Jaydan just stared at me. He looked at me with shock in his eyes as if he couldn't quite believe it.
"You're here," he breathed out. And before I knew what was happening he stepped inside closed the door and grabbed me in a hug. I was shocked at first but then I hugged him back with all my might.
"I'm sorry," I choked out as I started to cry. I was just so relieved to see him and hold him again.
Jaydan pulled away before he cupped my face in his hands.
"For what are you sorry for?" He asked as he wiped my tears away.
"For everything. I love you Jay and I shouldn't have broke up with you and when I read your letter I realised I was the biggest hypocrite ever. You have secrets. But so does everyone. I just needed to tell you I was sorry, but I see I'm to late, I hope she makes you happy," I said with a small smile.
"No Vic, you're not too late. You don't know how many nights I wished that I could see you one more time and when I saw you in that café my heart stopped. I didn't know if you were real but here you are," he rushed out.
"But what about that woman you were with?" I asked.
"Oh no, we are nothing. Well she thinks we are but we are not. I have so much explaining to do, but lets first get some food," he said and I agreed. He ordered some room service and after it arrived we sat on his bed and talked.
"So why did you leave?" I asked.
"Well after you left I realised that Alec was right. Those two months while he was holding me captive he reminded me daily that I didn't deserve you and once you left I realised that I didn't. You deserved the truth so I wrote that letter. Two years ago the agency that trained me for two years offered me a job, but I declined because I had you and my job. But once you called it off I realised that I loved you too much and that if you decided to move on, I will never be able to handle it. So I called them and asked if the job was still available and it was. I was heartbroken and I didn't think you will ever be able to forgive me after you found out the truth. I made a lot of mistakes. I don't deserve forgiveness," he said.
"I made a lot of mistakes too and the biggest one was letting you go. You've made mistakes, but so has the rest of the world. I love you Jay and I forgive you. If you can forgive me," I said.
"I love you too, Vic. I love you so much and these last few weeks were hell knowing that you hated me. I have nothing to forgive you for. You are here now and I guess that is all that matters," he said as he pulled me in a loving embrace and I relished in the feeling.
"I missed you," I whispered.
"I missed you too," he said.
"So that woman...?" I asked again.
"Well, I work for the DF, Defence Force, a secret agency that gathers intelligence on people that might be a possible threat to the world or country. That woman is my new target, she is a daughter of the man that is suspected of being a firearm smuggler and I was sent to gather some more information on her family. In order to get closer to her family..."
"You need to get closer to her? So you're basically an undercover agent and I almost blew your cover," I said and I felt stupid.
"But you didn't. And honestly seeing you here, I didn't care anymore. All that matters is that you are here. How did you find me?" He asked.
"Well..." I then preceded to tell him how I found him and how I followed one clue to the next.
"So you basically hunted me down? I didn't even know about those symbols. It is the DF's symbol, but I didn't know it was visible at all those places. I'm glad you found me," he said.
"I'm glad to," I said and I wished this moment could last forever.
