12 pm, 1/9/2018.

Scarlet opened her eyes slowly. She had a deep sleep last night. Her thick black hair was all tangled up on her pillow.

"Shit, it's 12 already," she muttered as she checked the time on her phone. "I should sleep earlier tonight and wake up earlier tomorrow, school starts in 2 days."

And apart from the time, of course she checked for messages from Torn.

"3 unread messages from Torn! But 8 hours ago... what the heck? He's texting me at 4 in the morning?" Scarlet smiled and furrowed her eyebrows at the same time.

Torn : *thinking emoji* okay - 4:22 am

Torn : what have you done? *thinking emoji*- 4:22 am

Torn : I'm having a holiday tomorrow, unlike someone who has to go to school *sunglasses emoji* - 4:23 am 

Scarlet : At least I'm still young. - 12pm

Scarlet : Last night I had a fight with someone from the SEO and saved a sorcerer friend. After that I went to his home. - 12 pm

"Let me reply Max too."

Max : Did you arrive home safely? Text me back if you did - 12 am

Scarlet : Yep, I did - 12:02 pm

Scarlet : I just woke up lol - 12:02 pm

"I mentioned that my friend is a 'he' to Torn. I hope he would notice that and ask me about the friend... I hope he cares," Scarlet wouldn't stop thinking about Torn.

She got up and went to the bathroom.

4pm, 1/9/2018.

Scarlet had been reading some of her textbooks for the new school year since she finished brunch. She was looking at her new Chinese textbook. 

She reached for her phone and checked it. No unread messages from Torn.

"What's up with him? It's 4 in the afternoon already, but he's last seen at 4:25 in the morning? He's such a night owl," Scarlet thought to herself. And she couldn't help but smile, of course, when thinking about Torn.

Max : That's great. I have to thank you again for saving my life last night.

Scarlet : No problem, you saved me before too. 

She decided to close her textbook and scroll through instagram for a while.

"Let me see... suggested for me to follow... wait... is this Torn?" Scarlet widened her eyes at her screen as she saw Torn's profile picture in her suggested list. 

It was a selfie of himself from a higher angle than usual, and his left hand was in his hair that was dyed red. And his eyes looked like they were looking at different directions. To put it simply, the picture was very ugly.

But Scarlet didn't think so. Or at least, she didn't care how he looked.

"Let me read his captions," Scarlet started stalking him. All his posts were selfies or pictures of himself. "Such a narcissist."

"My importance is determined by how you treat me? Oh god that sounds sad... and cringe. And this... It'll be there when it should be. If it's not, set yourself free...? And don't leave any regretful things for yourself...? What the hell is up with his captions? It feels like he's trying to be aesthetic and poetic."

"Well, I'll take a screenshot of his profile and send it to him," she laughed. 

Scarlet : <image attached> - 4:12 pm

Scarlet : *laughing emoji*

"I should follow him on instagram."

12am, 2/9/2018.

Torn didn't reply Scarlet, or even go online that entire day. Scarlet was feeling uneasy.

"Damn... why isn't he replying me? Why isn't he online? Did anything happen to him? Shit, what if... he's taken down... No, that can't be! There's no cases reported on news today!" She was desperate for him to reply her.

"Ding!" A notification popped up.

"It has to be Torn!" Scarlet checked her phone enthusiastically.

But it wasn't Torn. It was Rain. 

Rain : Hey, how're you and Torn going? - 12am

Scarlet : He didn't reply me or even go online the entire day. I'm lowkey scared that we'd lose contact. - 12:01 am

Rain : Nah, he's gonna text you back sooner or later. You know that better than anyone. - 12:01 am 

That message hit Scarlet hard. Rain was right. She knew perfectly well that Torn was messing around with her, knowing his type of person. Or vampire. He's a professional player. Still, Scarlet was willing to be played by him. 

Scarlet : I guess. - 12:02 am 

Just when Scarlet was going to put away her phone, a few notifications popped up at the same time.

Torn : How are you young? * shocked emoji* - 12:02 am

Torn : Wow *thinking emoji* it's a male friend there I see. - 12:02 am

Torn : Wow you found my instagram *shocked emoji* - 12:02 am

Torn : I just woke up - 12:03 am

Torn : Good morning *sleepy emoji* - 12:03 am 

"What... the... hell... he's waking up now? Fuck, that's unbelievable!" Scarlet furrowed her eyebrows. "What on Earth is wrong with him?" At the same time, she couldn't hide her happiness that Torn finally texted her back and that he noticed that she went to a male friend's home. 

Scarlet : What, you're waking up now?  - 12:04 am

Torn : Yea - 12:04 am

Torn : *eye rolling emoji* - 12:04 am

Torn : *laughing emoji* *laughing emoji* - 12:04 am 

Scarlet : What's so funny? - 12:05 am

Torn : I'm laughing at how cute you are *laughing emoji* - 12:05 am

Scarlet was surprised. She was so very flattered by that statement. She never thought Torn would make such a statement so soon, the corners of her lips rose slowly into a big, sweet grin, showing her fangs that were tiny just like any other tooth at that moment. She chuckled sweetly. It was like there was a rainbow over her cheeks, she was so happy.

 But she couldn't let Torn know that she had feelings for him, not yet.

Scarlet : *eye rolling emoji* - 12:06 am

Torn : *laughing emoji* - 12:06 am

Scarlet : What are you going to do then? - 12:07 am

Torn : Idk yet, I just woke up - 12:07 am

Scarlet : I see - 12:07 am

Scarlet : I'm going to sleep soon, so sleepy - 12:07 am

Torn : Gogogo - 12:07 am

Torn : Goodnight - 12:08 am 

Torn went offline 

"This is one of the best feelings ever!" Scarlet jumped onto her bed, smiling.

Torn : Good morning - 10:30 am 

Torn : I'm going to work - 10:30 am 

Scarlet : Good morning - 11:01 am 

Scarlet : I'm doomed, didn't finish any holiday assignments and school's starting tmr - 11:01 am

It'd been 2 weeks since school started. And Torn had talked to Scarlet for more than 2 weeks, which made Scarlet even more attracted to him. She'd dreamt about going on dates with Torn : watching movies in the cinema, cuddling in the sofa or even just walking on the street. She longed for anything like that to happen soon. On the other hand, Max and her kept contact as friends too, but Scarlet wouldn't say he's a close friend.

But Rain had told her something the day before. 

"Scar, please just stop talking to him, it's just not good for you. You know better than anyone else that he's gonna hurt you in the end. He is just messing around with your feelings."

And that statement made Scarlet think. 

"But I don't care, at least I have the chance to be messed around with." She thought. 

Rain's statement had been on her mind for an entire day. 

"Ding!" 

It's Torn.

Torn : How are you? -  4:00pm

Scarlet : Idk... the feeling isn't good but it's not bad either - 4:01 pm

Torn : Why are you feeling this way *laughing emoji* - 4:01 pm

"It's because of you, Torn. It's because of you that I'm feeling this way, it's because of you that I can't sleep and eat properly. I don't even want to eat blood vessels, or drink fresh blood. I only want to be more than friends with you, more than anything else in the world... really..." Scarlet furrowed her eyebrows and plucked her lips. She hadn't seen him in more than 2 weeks and she was craving him like a werewolf craves his mate. And the conversation in the past 2 weeks wasn't't getting them anywhere. She wanted to see him, she wanted more than some pointless texts. 

She decided to tell him subtly.

Scarlet : I - 4:02 pm

Scarlet : I have a crush on a guy... - 4:02 pm 

Torn : *thinking emoji* - 4:02 pm 

Torn : Then go confess to him *laughing emoji* - 4:02 pm 

Scarlet : I'm worried that he'd be shocked - 4:02 pm

Torn : How on earth would he be shocked if he has feelings for you ? - 4:03 pm

Scarlet : I don't know if he has feelings for me! -  4:04 pm

Torn : Well if he does, he sure has sent you some signals - 4:04 pm

Signals. That's it. Scarlet felt like Torn had been sending her mixed signals in the past 2 weeks. He was either flirting with her like crazy and other times he'd leave her on notification seen and call her immature. The mixed signals got her heart riding a roller coaster 24/7. She'd been guessing what Torn meant with those messages, like "Let's sleep together", "Let me dye your body" and "I'll go to your arms" and other times he was like "I'm not surprised that you don't have a boyfriend with such personality" and "you know nothing about men". And he followed and unfollowed her on Instagram.

It was driving her crazy. Was he really just playing around?

Scarlet : I don't know what signals are those - 4:06 pm

Torn : *thinking emoji* *thinking emoji* *thinking emoji* - 4:06 pm

Torn : Then I can't help you *facepalm emoji* - 4:07 pm

Torn : I don't even know him - 4:07 pm 

Scarlet felt bitter. "Yes, you know him, Torn. Go to the toilet, look into the mirror, and you'll see his face." 

Scarlet : Tbh, I think he's interested in me...?  - 4:08 pm

Scarlet : I don't know if I'm thinking too much tho - 4:08 pm

Scarlet : But all my friends tell me that he's a player and he'll hurt my feelings - 4:09 pm

Scarlet smiled sadly and faintly. She didn't care what she'd become then. She just wanted to be with Torn, she didn't care for how long, be it a month, a week, or even just three days. And she didn't care about the consequences. Being with Torn worth everything in her life, or even her life. But Torn's statement made him sound like he had a story. Had he dated a player before? 

Scarlet : You sound so experienced - 4:13 pm 

Torn : Or I should put it this way, dating a player would be a game, either you lose or he loses - 4:14 pm

Scarlet sighed heavily.

Scarlet : That I have to believe you - 4:14 pm

Torn : You aren't even 20 yet - 4:14 pm

Torn : I've experienced way more things than you - 4:15 pm

Scarlet took a deep breath. "Torn, I don't care what anyone else says or what I'll become, I want to be with you so badly."

Scarlet : I'm willing to be played by him *alien emoji* - 4:17 pm 

Torn : Okay, then go, if you've decided *thinking emoji* - 4:17 pm

Torn : If you're ignoring all the advices given then no one can help you - 4:18 pm 

Torn : After you get hurt you'll learn and grow - 4:18 pm

"Yea, it's a good thing... it's worth it..." Scarlet muttered under her breath.

Scarlet sat quietly in her bedroom. Torn hadn't texted her since afternoon and she was feeling hopeless. She made it apparent that Torn was the one that she wanted and yet Torn didn't show her any signals that they're about to get any closer. 

"Torn... play me like your favourite song... I know there's no way I'd be your favourite forever, but at least I'd be, for a while."

SEO headquarters. 

"It's been 2 weeks."

"Sorry, we can't cause a nuisance in public..."

"She's a terrible threat to humans! Cut your bullshit!"

"Sorry, but over the past 2 weeks we killed more than 10 ghouls and 2 werewolves... and 3 vampires..."

"Call your whole team to get her, tomorrow. And stop bullshitting."

"Yes, sir."
