Chapter 31 - Shadows

I rushed forward towards the cage. I grabbed the bars and yelled "Shadow! I'm here!" But the figure didn't move.

A deep chuckle filled the room. It bounced around the room as I frantically looked for the owner.

"Did you really think it would be that easy!?" The voice boomed and shook the room. I fell to the ground and I watched as the shadows started to move.

The shadows formed figures and they floated towards me. I could feel my heart pounding in my chest. I jumped up and backed up into the cage.

Suddenly arms grabbed me from behind and I screamed. Black misty hands were wrapped around my wrist. I pulled away and my wrist suddenly felt numb.

I looked down at it and now it was gray. I spin around and realized I was surrounded. They were slow moving which gave me some time.

I tried to think but the sound of Shadow weeping filled the room. It began to get louder and louder until I had to cover my ears.

I was overwhelmed by the sound and my heart was beating fast. I didn't know what to do and I couldn't think because of Shadows screams for help.

I felt my body begin to heat up and I close my eyes. I fell to my knees as the sound got louder. I knew that the shadows would be getting here soon but I couldn't take my hands off my head.

"Y/n, you didn't try hard enough!" Shadow screamed throughout the room, making it shake. I couldn't handle it anymore.

My body now felt as if it was on fire. I screamed out into the room and felt the heat leave my body.

"IVE DONE ALL I CAN TO SAVE ALL OF YOU!!" I screamed and everything went quiet. I was shaking as I hesitated and took my hands off my head.

Nothing, no more weeping. I opened my eyes slowly and the room was now bright. I looked around to see where the light had come from but didn't find a source.

I looked down at my hands and jumped back. My hands were glowing with light, as well as the rest of my body.

The shadows were now gone and the figure in the cage moved. I walked over to the cage and grabbed the bars.

The bars seem to evaporate at my touch. I stepped through the hole I made and stood above the figure.

"Could you please turn off that light?" Shadow asked me.
