Chapter 2
27 yr. old Kevin Olusola has never had to worry about anything his entire life. His father owned Olusola Oil Co. off the coast of Galveston, Tx. So his life was pretty easy, financially, but there was one thing that was wrong and that one thing was, he was lonely.
So for a little bit of excitement he decided just to leave his beach house in Galveston for a short road trip. He had been on the road for several hours and was in bad need for a restroom break and something to drink. He finally seen a sign 'Springwater' next exit. "They call this a town?" he thought out loud. A Dollar Store and a little grocery isn't much of a town.
He pulled up in front of the little country grocery store with a sign out front that read 'Wilson's Grocery'. Surely they would have a restroom he could use he thought as he was getting out of his car greeting the cold air. "Dang" he mumbled under his breath as he hurried inside the store to get out of the cold.
There were only two people inside the store as he walked in, an older gentleman was sitting behind the counter reading a newspaper and a young man was doing some shopping. The old man looked up from his paper and smiled and nodded a hello to Kevin, who returned the smile and politely ask for the restroom. The man nodded and pointed toward the back of the store. After finishing his business, he stopped by a cooler and grabbed a bottle of water and headed for the counter. The young man, probably in his late teens, had finished shopping and was at the counter in front of him.
"Avi, I'm sorry, I can't do it," the old man was saying, "You've been telling me for weeks now that you would pay some on your bill but haven't yet. Listen son, I know you kids are having it rough but I have a business to run."
Kevin patiently waited behind the guy who he had learned was named Avi. He couldn't help but notice he wasn't wearing a coat as cold as it was outside. He had long shoulder length brown hair and was wearing a dark colored beanie. He had a neatly trimmed beard, very cute, wait WHAT?? Anyways, he was wearing a long sleeve blue jean shirt with black jeans and a pair of black worn out converse.
Avi glanced around at him and Kevin couldn't help but notice the sadness in his green eyes and his face red with embarrassment.
In a low voice Avi whispered, " Mr. Wilson, Please, I'll try..." but was instantly cut off by Mr. Wilson, "Can't do it, Avi. I've heard those promises before."
Avi hung his head and gave a quick nod. He stuck his hands into his pockets, turning around giving Kevin a weak smile and slowly headed out the door. Empty handed.

Avi walked out on the porch of the store with his hands still in his pockets. His eyes misty with tears.
"What the hell am I suppose to do now," he mumbled to himself as he looked up and down the near deserted street. 'Is this how mom felt when she walked out of our lives over a year ago?' he thought. Now he understands, the weight on his shoulders weighed a ton and was unbearable. He thought about just running, running away from everything. But then he thought about Scott, Kirstie and Mitch. What would happen to them? An orphanage? At least they would have food to eat. But then again, they may be separated and that's the last thing he would ever want to happen to them.
He wiped the tears away that had manage to escape. He looked at his watch and knew that by the time he walked home, they would be home from school. He again would have to look into their sad eyes and tell them that they would be having beans again for supper.
