Katniss's P.O.V.

I walk around the halls of my high school. Everyone makes room for me. They are all afraid of me. All because I am a vampire. No one should be afraid of me. I don't suck blood. I keep that craving down by blood tablets. My family does too. The jock of our school, Cato Dagger, pushes me into the lockers.

"You're a freak, Katniss Everdeen!" He taunts.

I scoff. I go to my class. Everyone separates themselves from me. I look out the window.

'I wish I was like everyone else.' I think.

It starts to rain. I watch the raindrops roll down the window. I trace the water as it rolls down the window. I see that a crack is forming whenever I follow a raindrop. I pull my finger away. The window breaks. Everyone gasps. They look at me. I feel the wave of embarrassment hit and my face getting hot. Everyone laughs and whispers. I leave the classroom. I leave the school. I run away.

'I don't want to be this way anymore.' I think.

I go out of town and to the forest. I sit by the creek. I throw rocks. The rocks skip more times than anyone ever could.

"Why am I not normal!?" I scream.

I hear movement coming closer to me. I stand up. I look around. I see rustling in the bushes.

"Who's there?" I ask.

I see a rabbit hop out of the bush. I let my guard down. But then I feel a presence behind me. I turn around. Someone shoves me.

"This is werewolf country. Leave now, and don't ever come back." He says.

"I'm sorry. I-I-I- I didn't know." I stammer.

"Well, now you do. Now leave, vampire." He says.

I stand up. I run out of the forest. I go to my town. It has stopped raining. The sun starts to come out. I pull my hood over my head and stuf my hands in my pockets. I go to my house. My mom and dad are waiting for me.

"You broke a window and ran away from school?! What were you thinking Katniss?!" My dad asks angrily.

I walk past him and head to the stairs.

"Katniss why can't you go one day without making your family's life harder?" My dad asks.

I stop.

"Because I'm not normal, Dad!! I'm a vampire! WE'RE ALL VAMPIRES!!! How do you expect me to be normal when I'm not?" I yell.

My dad glares at me.

"Katniss, why don't you come down and talk to me?" My mom says.

"No mom! Just leave me alone!" I scream.

I storm upstairs to my room. I slam my door. I punch the wall. I scream out my frustration. I tear apart my room. I sink to my knees. I sit on the floor.

"God, I hate my life." I mutter.

~Few Weeks Later~

I don't care about anyone in school. Not anymore. I just keep to myself. I am now a feared vampire. I haven't hurt anyone. Yet. As I sit in the cafeteria, someone sits across from me. I don't lookup.

"Do you have a death wish?" I ask.

"No. You just look lonely." they say.

I look up. It's a guy. I haven't seen him at school before.

"Who are you?" I ask.

"I'm Peeta. Peeta Mellark." He says.

"New here?" I ask.

He nods.

"Well if you want friends, you'd better not sit with me." I say.

"Why?" He asks.

I smile. He gasps.

"Told you." I say. I go back to playing with my food. The bell rings. I stand up I go and throw away my food.

"Bye." I say to him.

He follows me. "Hey wait!" He says. He walks with me.

"It's only your first day, and you've made everyone here your enemy." I say.

"I don't care. I just need to talk to you." He says.

I stop walking.

"Come to my house after school. I need to tell you something." He says.

"Fine. Where do you live?" I ask.

"14521 South 50 West." He says.

"Fine." I say.

He leaves. I go to my class. The periods fly by. Soon enough, it's the end of the day.

'I guess I'll go see what he wants.' I think.

I walk to his house.

"Hey!" I hear Peeta call.

I look up. He has his window open. "Go to the back." He says.

I go around his house. I go to the back door. Right as I'm about to knock, the door opens.

"Why exactly could-"

"SHH! My parents are at home. They can't know I have a vampire over." He says.

I go inside his house. We go to his room. He closes the door.

"So...what did you want to talk to me about?" I ask.

Out of nowhere, he kisses me. I push him away.

"What the hell was that?" I ask.

"I'm sorry. I just...can't be me anymore. Can you turn me?" He says.

"Do what?" I ask.

"Turn me into a vampire. Because I can't be me anymore. Or I turn you into me." He says.

"A human? No thanks. I'd rather be feared than be a nobody." I say.

I start to walk to the door.

"No Katniss. I'm not a human." He says.

He sighs. Then takes a few steps back. He jumps and then turns into a werewolf. I stand back. He turns back into his human form. I'm about to scream, but he covers my mouth with his hand. I calm down. He removes his hand.

"Why didn't you tell me?" I ask.

"Because...if our school knew.." He says.

"Why do you want to be a vampire?" I ask.

"So..I can be with you." He says.

"Me?" I ask.

"Yes. I really like you." He says.

I feel myself blush. "But, you know, you can never go back." I say.

"I know. But everyone says vampires are these terrible people. But in reality.. werewolves are." He says.

I don't say anything.

"Please Katniss. You're the only one who can help me." He says.

I sigh. "It'll hurt." I say.

"I know." He says.

"Then sit." I say.

I kneel behind him. "Tilt your head." I say.

He does. I can smell his fear and his blood. "Don't be afraid Peeta." I say.

I slowly lean into bite his neck. My fangs sink into his soft skin. I taste his blood. I ingest his blood. I sink my fangs deeper into his neck. His blood is everywhere. I pull my fangs out. He holds his neck. I wipe the blood away from my mouth.

"Did it work?" He asks.

"I think so. I don't know though." I say. I then lean in and kiss him.

The door to his room opens. It's his mother.

"Peeta!! What are you doing?" She yells.

When she sees his blood everywhere, she gasps.

"Get away from my son, you vampire!!" She yells.

She gets out a gun. She shoots me. It's a silver bullet. I can tell because of the burning. I cry out in pain.

"Call the cops!" his mother yells.

I jump out of his window. I run to the forest. I hide. My arm is burning. It hurts to move it. I hear someone coming. I don't know if it's a friend or a foe.

'I know I can't fight.' I think.

A werewolf comes through the trees. But then it turns back into a human. It's Peeta.

"What are you doing here?" I ask.

"I came to see if you were okay." he says.

He hugs me. "I'm so sorry." He whispers.

"It's okay. I'm alright." I say.

He lets me go. I look at his neck. It's still bleeding.

"I guess it didn't work." I say. "I'm sorry. Now I've ruined your life."

"It already was." He says.

"Same with mine." I say.

We lean in and kiss.

'What a tragedy. How two people fall in love but can be with each other.' I think.

I pull away. "I love you." I say.

"I love you too." He says.
