Chapter V

The skies dimmed with every flap his wings made, but it wasn't even close to sunset. Grian grumbled as he squinted at the needle in the compass, trying to follow it's directions carefully. Suddenly, a drop of water ticked onto the glass of the compass. Not long after, another drop of water hit Grian's head, then another- and another, and another. It was raining at this point, the clouds were crying. Grian sighed, diving down a little lower, just in case there's going to be lightning. And lightning there was!
Thunder roared around Grian, a flash of lightning ripping across the grey canvas of the sky. Grian physically flinched at the sudden sound of thunder, so much so he nearly fell out of the sky. The rain slowly came down harder and harder, and flying became more and more difficult. Squinting through the fog of rain, Grian grumbled and dove down under the tree line. He slowly came to a stop as he landed on the ground. Shaking off the extra rain drops that his jumper soaked up, the blonde pulled out his flashlight, aiming it forward. The light illuminated the dark brown bark around Grian, taking a step forwards, Grian nearly tripped and fell onto the muddy forest floor. Regaining his balance, he trekked forward cautiously. Every step he took, the more more tired and paranoid Grian grew.
He desperately wanted to lay down and sleep, but the floor was far too muddy to sleep on. Grian squinted down at his compass, it was still pointing straight forwards. Why did it have to rain? Why was the journey just so difficult? Stumbling around on the forest floor, Grian slowly started to give up. He just wanted to lay down at this point, but he couldn't- he'll get a cold if he slept in the rain. Grian strained his eyes, searching for the slightest flicker of light, signaling that there could be a town nearby. Searching the dense greenery, Grian doubted there would be a town, any less a house. But then- flickering in the distance... a small dim light.
Eyes growing wide, Grian pointed his flashlight towards the glimmer of hope. It was the dim reflection of glass windows. Gasping, Grian ran forwards, casing the the flickering reflection from the windows. Skidding to a stop- more like slipping to a stop- Grian nearly ran into the windows. Putting a hand on the glass, he slowly caught his breath. Squinting through the dusty, dirty glass, Grian saw what looked to be chests and shelves. A storage-shack probably? It didn't seem like the shack was being very well-taken-care-of. The wood smelled of must and the windows looked of dust and dirt. There was no form of light in the shack, and there was no house this shack could've belonged to.
"It'd be fine if I just stayed for one night... right?" Grian asked himself, walking around the perimeter of the shack. It looked small, but it should do. Finding the door and pushing it open with a loud creeeeaaaaaaaaaak... Shivering from the cold, Grian shone the flashlight into the room. It looked so much larger from the inside compared to the outside. Dusty chests piled on top of each other crowded around the space, as if fighting for dominance. Shelves piled with odd items stood on the side idly as they overlooked a wobbly desk sat at the left side of the room, the floor was blanketed by a small weathered, grey mat. It looked sad. Everything looked abandoned.
Stepping one foot into to the house, the floor boards creaked loudly. Inhaling one breath, Grian sneezed out a loud sneeze. This was just so sad.

==========================
I am just so sad. It's only the 3rd week of school and I'm already pulling all-nighters to finish my forbidden homework :(
It's also been like... a year since I updated this gandpa of a story. I'm still upset with every single chapter I wrote before hand- including chapters from TTC. I-
