"Tell me what?" Bella asked.

"Emmett and Paul had a misunderstanding, but there is nothing to worry about," Edward said.

"Listen to you," Jacob scoffed. "Did you lie to get her out of town, too?"

Iris was eavesdropping from inside her car.

"You should leave," Edward suggested. "Now."

"She has a right to know," Jacob said. "She is the one the redhead wants."

"Victoria?" she asked. "Alices's vision," she whispered, in realization.

"I was trying to protect you," Edward said.

"By lying to me. We're gonna talk about this," she directed to Edward. "But... You. Why haven't you called me back?" she asked Jacob.

"I had nothing to say," Jacob answered.

"Well, I have tons. Edward, you have to trust me."

"I do trust you. It's him I don't trust," Edward replied.

Bella just looked at Edward, not having his bullshit. She jogged to Jacob, then climbed on the back of his bike.

Jacob grinned in victory.

"Lose the grin, Jacob. We're just going for a ride," Bella said.

Edward watched him the pair go. Sighing, he said, "Iris, can you please - maybe - follow them?"

Iris also sighed from inside her car. She turned the engine on. "Someone better explain to me why I'm allowed to cross the border. No one is telling me shit these days," she said through the roar of the engine.

Edward smiled. "We will."

Embry smiled once he saw Bella. "Look who's back."

"What up, Bella?" Quil asked.

"Quil, you too?" Bella asked.

"Yep. Finally made the pack. I'm glad you're here, Bella. Maybe we can get a break from Jake's obsessive inner monologue," Quil answered.

"I wish Bella would call," Paul mocked.

"I wish Bella wouldn't call," Jared added.

"Maybe I should call Bella," Embry said.

"Maybe I should call Bella and hang up," Embry finished.

Jacob rolled his eyes. "Alright, you can shut up now."

The wolves immediately tensed slightly, smelling a tinge of vampire in the air. They let out soft growls, but stopped after Paul growled at them. Iris walked into the room after seeing that the door was opened. Bella was shocked to see the vampire.

"Iris, what are you doing here?" Bella asked.

Iris shuffled on her feet, smiling shyly. "Um - Edward told me to follow you - to make sure you were safe. He's just worried about you."

"So he doesn't trust me?" Bella asked.

"He does!" Iris peeped out. "But he doesn't trust them."

Bella nodded. Everyone in the room could sense the happiness that radiated off of Iris.

"Oh - my god," Embry groaned. "What is that?" he asked. "I feel so...happy."

Iris poked her head out from Bella's side, walking a step closer. "That's me. My emotions radiate off of me."

"God," Embry groaned, "are you always this happy?"

"I'm naturally like that," she said. "There's no reason to always be sad or mad."

Bella smiled at Iris, but her smile disappeared as Leah entered the room.

"Bella, this is Leah Clearwater. Harry's daughter," Jacob introduced.

"Hey. I'm really sorry about your father," Bella said.

"If you're here to torture Jacob some more, feel free to leave," Leah spat out, then immediately left.

"Fun, isn't she?" Jacob asked.

Iris stared at Leah's resentful figure as she walked away from the house, before walking out to meet the resentful werewolf once and for all.

"Leah?" Iris softly asked.

"What?" Leah snapped.

"Is Seth okay?" she asked.

The fact that Iris didn't ask "Are you okay?" or "I'm sorry for your loss" was what made Leah stop to actually listen to Iris.

"Seth's fine. He's taking it better than I am, but I think he's trying to diffuse his sadness with our dad's death," Leah answered.

"But you... You're different. Of course, you are. Everyone is different. Sorry," Iris quickly apologized. "Everyone is different and special in their own way. I hope you didn't find that offensive. I think Seth is the type of person to act tough and like he's fine, but he's really not. You should talk to him. Even if he doesn't want to, yell at him. Make him want to talk to you. And I think you're the type of person to take it out on other people because you need a different emotion other than sadness," Iris said. "I don't want to hurt you or your brother or anyone else here, but I'm not lying when I say that if you spend more time with me, you might actually be happier."

Iris was right. Leah was feeling more happy. Leah didn't know why though. Her ex-boyfriend was engaged to her cousin, her brother and her were shifters, and her father recently died. But Leah was just happy. She started to feel happy about the feeling of air attacking her her fur when she ran or the fact that she still had her mother and brother.

Iris smiled brightly, noticing how Leah was more relaxed. "I'll leave you to it," Iris suddenly said, snapping Leah out of her trance. "I'm sure you have important things to do."

Iris turned around and skipped - quite literally - back into Emily's house. Her skip halted and the smile on her face turned into a mix of a frown and a pout - something that Paul enjoyed seeing.

"Where did Bells go?" Iris asked. "Where's Jake?"

"They're talking somewhere else," Emily answered. "Would you like a muffin?"

"I'm not much of a muffin girl, but I'll give it a taste," Iris said.

Jared rolled his eyes. "You're a vampire, you don't eat."

Iris realized an eyebrow. "Clearly, you haven't taken a good look or smell at me," she said as she grabbed a muffin and bit into it.
