20 || The right path

"Rohan?!"

"Rohan?!"

Shayana called with Abhi trailing behind her.
When Rohan didn't respond, Shayana pulled out her copy of his house key and let herself and Abhi inside.
The first thing she noticed was that his house was a mess. There was trash and empty bottles all over the place, even Shadow felt his master's gloomy mood and remained in his dog house.

"Jasmine? Be-tta is that you?" His speech slurred.

Shayana's heart broke at the sight of one of her closest friends completely shattered.

Rohan's hair was disheveled, seeming like he hadn't slept in days. He was surrounded by various types of alcohol bottles. It was Shayana's worst nightmare, Rohan was changing back to the same Rohan that wasn't able to handle Aarohi departure.

Aarohi had called them before she left to America. While Shayana wanted to punch her face for messing up when everything for Rohan was going fine, Shayana knew that Aarohi was just following her daughter's demands.

She would be damned if she had to re live seeing her friend endure the pain again.

Rohan honestly didn't deserve this pain and time time she was determine to stop his heart break phrase before it become serious.

"Helloo is anyone home?"

Shayana quickly shut her eyes and took a deep breath of air.

"Did you call her?" She looked up in frustration at her husband.

"Maybe." He said not meeting her eyes, "They're still technically dating the last time I checked."

"Rohan?! Baby is that you." Kriti dropped her purse and quickly ran towards Rohan, who was stumbling to walk straight.

"Aarohi, ap?"
Shayana almost laughed at Kriti's shocked expression.

"Noo. Baba main Kriti." She said calmly. However Abhi knew that she was burning from the inside with jealousy.

"Kriti, koun Kriti?" He said trying to walk.

"Rohan. Your girlfriend."

"Ohh hi."
"Hi now baby lets get you clean up."
"No. Don't touch me."
"Why not baby?"

"Jasmine doesn't like you."

As amusing as it was to see Kriti's angry reaction, Rohan wasn't trying to get better and he had four more days until his comeback performance. As soon as Shayana was going to scold him, she was interrupted.

"Rohan."
Shayana felt her body go stiff. If someone didn't kill her husband, Abhi was going to die by her hands.

"Beta. What is this?" Rohan's father said walking into his son's home. He had tried to call Rohan, hoping to spend time with his granddaughter but he didn't pick up.

"Uncle." Shayana and Abhi both greeted.
"Dad ." Rohan said, "They left me."

Mr. Nanda raised an eyebrow, "Koun?"

"Aarohi and Jasmine. They went back to Trump." Then he began to cry.

"Abhi, Shayana and Umm aap koun?" He looked at Kriti.

"Sir, main Kriti. Rohan ki girlfriend."

"Tik." He waved her off, "Chalo get out. I need to talk to my son alone."

Shayana swallowed nervously. Growing up with Rohan she knew that his father never liked him and now in his drunken state, Shayana wasn't so sure if she allow her friend to be alone with the man that caused him so much pain to begin with.

"Shayana." Abhi gently tugged her out of the room to them privacy. He hoped that everything he was doing would benefit Rohan in the future. Like Shayana, he was so sick of seeing his friend being hurt over and over again. But right now, Rohan needed someone to show him the right path or nudge him in the right direction.

"When did they leave?"
"Three days ago." Rohan said drying his tears. Then it hit him that this was the first time since he was a baby that his father had probably seen him cry. That thought made him sober up a bit.

"And you just let them go? Just like that?"

"It was Jasmine's choice to go, Dad."

He felt his father confusion, " Aarohi and I made a deal that Jasmine would choose where she wanted to live and she picked to live in the States."

"Why?"
Rohan shifted uncomfortably, ashamed to answer his father in the eye.

"She overheard our conversation with my manager and she thought that I chose my career over her."

"Which you did." He father pointed out.

"Oh Dad thanks for that reminder."

"Did you call?"
"Yes and apparently theyboth don't want to talk to me."

"What would you say to them if you did talk to them?" His dad question as he took out his phone to check a text.

"What would I say?" Rohan pondered for a minute.

" I would tell Aarohi that I would have given up everything including my career if she would have just told me once that she was pregnant. My career doesn't matter to me not as much as Jasmine does now. After spending these couple of weeks with her, there's nothing that I wouldn't do for Jasmine. Yes I was skeptical of being in charge of a child but slowly I become more attached to her and even now I can't close my eyes without thinking of Jasmine's beautiful face or Aarohi's gorgeous smile."

"Is that all?" His dad asked when it seemed that Rohan was starting to get lost in his own world.

"That's just a gist of what I have to say."

"Why can't you go chase after them if your career doesn't matter anymore?"

"Because I made a promise to a friend that I would perform. After this concert I will go after them and make them listen to have I have to say."

"Alcohol isn't going to help you son."

"I know." Rohan agreed, "But it sure as hell numbs the pain I feel every time that I close my eyes."

Mr. Nanda nodded and send his text before looking at his drunken son, "Sober up and practice for your show. You've already let down your family, dont let down the people who've supported long before Aarohi come into your life. Your fans don't deserve this."

Rohan watched his father leave and knew that no matter how painful his words were, they were the truth. His fans always supported him even today his twitter followers messaged him their support and love. He couldn't let them down.

So he got up and decided that it was time that he practiced his music.

"Is he okay?" Shayana questioned as soon as Rohan's father stepped out.

"I hope he understand what I had to say." He responded as his phone dinged. He smiled showing his phone to Abhi and Shayana.

"Aarohi understood." Abhi said smiling.
"Is she coming back?" Kriti spoke up.

Everyone turned towards her, forgetting that she was in the room.

"For Rohan's sake I hope she does." Shayana said.

Kriti sighed, "I don't have a chance, do I?"
"A chance?"

"Rohan still loves her doesn't he?"
When no one answered, Kriti moved towards the door, "I love Rohan and always will but I'm done trying to play second fiddle to someone else. I know my self-worth and I don't need the rest of the world to think of me as a home wrecker. Tell Rohan that I hope he's happy and if he's not...call me." With a hair flip Kriti walked out of Rohan's house.
