"Rohan."
Aarohi said softly. When he didn't respond, Aarohi turned towards him in their bed and cuddled up to his side.
"Rohan." She tried again.
"Kya yaar?" Rohan muttered in his sleep turning the other way as Aarohi rolled her eyes.
She had missed her period and she was scared that she was pregnant.
Aarohi needed to know how Rohan felt about having a child. While Rohan did not explicitly say much about his family, Aarohi had guessed that he and his family weren't too welcoming. Shayana had once mentioned that there was tension between him and his father, but Aarohi had no idea about his mother.
Her parents had stopped caring for her the moment that she had fell in love with Rahul and after his death, they had made a point to check up on her. However as an only child, her parents depended on her for money which she had no problem giving them and in exchange they never mentioned her affair with Rohan.
If she was pregnant, Aarohi just wanted this child to be loved much as possible.
"Can we talk, please Rohan?"
By hearing the uneasiness in her voice, Rohan sat up straight, "Jaan, Aap thik to ho?" (Are you fine?)
"I can't sleep." She admitted, "Sorry that I woke you."
Rohan, who was wide awake now, slid his arm around Aarohi's shoulders, pulling her closer to him, "You can wake me up at any hour, Jaan." He kissed her forehead.
Aarohi grinned. She loved this side of Rohan that he kept hidden from the rest of the world.
"So what's keeping you up?"
Aarohi took a deep breath. It was either now or never.
"I've been thinking..." She trailed off.
"Bachcha ." (Kids.)
Rohan looked confused, "Bachcha? Aarohi?"
"I know it's too much since we're only engaged but I can't...." Aarohi said as her eyes began to tear up.
"Shh. Jaan..." Rohan said not sure how they got onto the topic of kids but he just held her.
"I don't mind having kids with you." Rohan said breaking the silence.
"Aap jhoot nahi bolta?" (Are you lying?)
Rohan sighed, "I'm not but I don't feel ready yet...to be a father...I want my career to be secure enough before we start having mini mes ran around."
Aarohi giggled.
"You only want to have sons?" She said sounding serious.
Rohan rolled his eyes, "Duh. I want sons and I also want cute daughters like you."
Aarohi shook her head playfully.
"But I am serious about securing my career first. I don't want my kids growing up homeless or struggling because we weren't able to have a job that pays well." Rohan paused to make sure that Aarohi was paying attention, "And I want to be able to spend time with them and watch them grow up."
Aarohi wanted to ask more but Rohan turned to her, "We have to go to sleep because you have to go to the studio to record Jaan."
Woof. Woof.
Aarohi wake up to the sound of Shadow jumping into her bed and barking.
"Shadow!" She heard Rohan voice in the distance as Shadow began to lick her face.
"Shaaadoww." Aarohi complained as she wiped the slobber of her face. This is the reason why she didn't want to have any pets.
"Shaw- Wow. Umm sorry Jaan, Shadow really love to wake up people."
Aarohi stared at him but he was oblivious to the fact that he just called her Jaan.
"Mama." Jasmine said pushing her father out of the way and jumped into the bed next to her.
Aarohi smiled giving her baby a tight hug as Rohan watched awkwardly.
"Papa you should come and join us." Jasmine said.
He looked towards Aarohi, who slowly moved in order to make room for him.
"Umm I'm going to cook some breakfast-"
"I'll go." Aarohi quickly volunteered, knowing that Rohan's cooking skills weren't up to par.
"I guess." Rohan said.
"No problem. " She said giving of the bed.
"Should we help mama?" Jasmine asked.
Rohan smiled, "I think mama's got it, princess."
Aarohi smiled as she continued her walk down to the kitchen with Shadow following behind her.
"Mamaaa this is sooo good." Jasmine said as she dug into the food.
"Jas is right. I love these pancakes." Rohan said resisting the urge to call her Jaan.
"Thank you." She sang.
Just then there was a knock on the door.
"Were you expecting someone?"
"No." Rohan said getting up to open the door.
"Hey Aarav, long time no see." Rohan invited him inside.
Aarohi smiled harden as she shook his hand, "It's been a while."
Aarav's eyes moved from Aarohi to Jasmine.
"And this must be the famous Jasmine. Hello sweetie."
"Hi!"
Rohan smiled, "Princess why don't you go play in your room with Shadow. Mama and I have something to discuss with Aarav."
"Okay."
Once Jasmien was out of the earshot, Aarohi turned to Aarav.
"We need to tell the world about you and Rohan and how Jasmine is apart of it."
Rohan knew that the last thing that Aarohi wanted was to see her daughter's face is in the newspapers. Hell he didn't want his daughter's life to be publicized on every popular magazine cover.
"I don't think that's necessary to be honest." Rohan interrupted, "Jasmine doesn't need to be involved in this."
"Rohan, if we don't get this situated on time, your career is going to end even before it start!"
"What are you suggesting?" Aarohi said crossing her arms. While she did not approve of having her child involved, she also knew that at one point they had to tell the truth about Jasmine's parentage one day. Unfortunately for Aarohi that day seems like it's coming faster than she anticipated.
"We tell the people what they want."
"Which is?"
"Jasmine is Rohan's daughter and that he didn't want either of you in public eye so you two made a plan to make that happen."
"That is not what happened." Both Aarohi and Rohan blurted out.
"Well. Well. Well. Would you look at that...it's cute that you think that we're going to tell people the actually truth." Aarav said amused.
Rohan looked as he was going to say something but was interrupted by Aarohi.
"When and where we do we have to say this?"
"You can't be serious?! We're going to be lying to our daughter."
"Okay fine Rohan! Go look Jasmine straight in the eye and tell her that the real reason why she doesn't have a father is because you decided that a long time ago that your career was more important than your own child."
"What?" Jasmine said coming out of her hiding spot with tears in her eyes.
Rohan cursed. He should have known that Jasmine was listening.
Aarohi looked at Rohan, shocked by her own outburst. She had no idea that Jasmine would take her words so seriously."
"I-"
"No. Mom I wanna go back to home."
"Jasmine I-" Aarohi started but stopped as soon as Jasmine ran to her room which Rohan trailing her.
"Umm. I'll take my leave now." Aarav said awkwardly.
Aarohi glared at him, "I hope you got what you wanted."
If Aarohi knew her daughter well then she knew that Jasmine was ready to go home. However, no matter what happened between her and Rohan, Aarohi didn't want them to leave with Jasmine being angry at her father.
