12: Adventure Date
Your pov
Tiredly, I snuggled closer into my boyfriends chest. I knew it was morning but I had no intention of moving from my spot. He was still asleep anyways. I like the way he holds me... so gently... he's so warm... and caring... oh Mikey...
Slowly, I looked up at him. His eyes were shut, with his glasses still on, while his breathing was soft. This only made me smile as I rested my chin on his chest. He is so cute... my slutty elf boyfriend...
I smiled to myself, gazing up at his pointed ears. Suddenly, they twitched slightly. My eyes just watched, completely fascinated by the magic.
"Morning babe," I jumped, not realizing he was awake. He chuckled.
"Oh, good morning..." I smiled, snuggling my face into his warm chest. He ran his fingers through my hair and kissed my head.
"Sunshine, you're adorable." My cheeks heated, but he couldn't see that since my face was in his chest.
"You are too..." I said.
"What?" I looked up at him.
"Mikey, you're adorable too." He smiled, then kissed me.
"C'mon babe, let's have some food, and then go on an adventure." My head shot up.
"An adventure!?" He nodded, "Where to?"
"Somewhere in the forest."
"Alright!" I said, excitedly.
"Ya gotta get off of me though."
"Oh, right," I pouted, climbing out of my boyfriend's warm embrace. He stood up and stretched while I flopped back onto the couch.
"I'll bring you some cereal." He said, patting my head.
"Mkay..."
I looked up at him, watching as he left the room. Once he left, I turned on my back, eyeing the ceiling while listening to his little sounds as he made our food in the kitchen. His quiet footsteps along the linoleum floor, soft hums escaping his lips, and the pouring of Lucky Charms filled the little apartment. Before I knew it, he was back, standing over me.
"Hey Mikey?" He hummed as I sat up, "You're so cute." He chuckled, sitting beside me and handing over a bowl of cereal.
"Yeah?" I nodded, "Well you're not too bad yourself, babe." He sent a smile as we began eating.
"So, where exactly will we be going on our adventure?"
"Can't tell ya. It's a surprise."
"A surprise!? Lame."
"Lame!? It's not lame. It's gonna be really sick. You just gotta wait." I sighed.
Then I looked to my boyfriend. I couldn't help but kiss his cheek. He gazed at me and did it back. We set our bowls on the coffee table, then I kissed him again. He did it back. Soon enough we began to laugh as we exchanged short kisses until I fell backwards into the couch cushions. Mikey hovered over me with his hands on either side of my head holding him up.
"Aww..." I cooed, watching his hair fall around his face. He leaned down and pressed his lips to mine.
"Oh sunshine, you're so beautiful." He just stared, admiring me. I couldn't help but laugh.
"You are so cute. I'm really not as beautiful as you think."
"What!? Of course you are! Look at you!" His hazel eyes were focused solely on me, "How could you say such a thing?" He hasn't seen my body...
I didn't answer. His eyes went soft as he hugged me tight and kissed my cheek.
"Dear, you are gorgeous," Carefully, I ran my fingers through his hair, "Don't let anyone tell you otherwise," I didn't respond, just, played with his hair, until he pulled away, "C'mon, let's go on an adventure!" He cried, standing up, and putting his hands on his hips. I giggled, standing up and copying his posture.
"Fuck yeah! Adventure time!" He chuckled, then slipped on his beanie, grabbed my hand, and he ran out the door with me right behind.
Quickly, we dashed through the apartment building hall, down the stairs, and through the streets with jokes and laughter following close behind. Almost immediately I noticed the many clouds in the sky. They were a dark shade of grey. It's gonna rain... yes...
"Ya ready dear?" He asked as we stood outside the gargantuan magical forest in front of us. I turned to him with a smile on my face.
"Hell yeah..." I answered, and we began walking with Mikey leading me, "Where are we going?"
"Can't say," I rolled my eyes, "It's a surprise! I can't tell you."
"Fine, but can't you give me a hint? Or something?" He thought for a moment.
"Trees."
"Trees!? Mikey, we're surrounded by trees!"
"Yeah I know, and where we're going is also, surrounded by trees."
"Woah, no way!" The sarcasm was heavy. He chuckled, wrapping an arm around me.
"Mkay, we need to be quiet around here," He spoke quietly, "There's some dangerous creatures around here and I don't want anything to happen to ya."
"Alright..." I gave him a short kiss as our talking went to more of a whisper.
"Okay, we're almost there."
"Nothing's gonna eat me, right?"
"Dunno, maybe, we'll see," My eyes went wide, but he held a smirk.
"Oh whatever, funny man!"
"Babe, I'm hilarious. We've been over this!" I rolled my eyes.
"Yeah, keep telling yourself that."
"Oh I will. Just until you admit I'm hilarious!"
"No way..."
"Y/n, I'm a funny guy, and if you can't see that, then, I dunno how we're gonna make it," I turned to him, "This just, isn't working anymore."
"Are you breaking up with me over this!?" But he held another smirk, "You're not funny!"
"Dearest, I'm telling you, I'm hilarious. Now enough talking, we're almost there."
"Please, you just-" He shushed me. Then, cautiously, he led me to an open area in the forest. An uneven circle of trees surrounded the grassy area that had grown tall from the lack of lawnmowers. We stood in the middle.
"Hello..." He called, there was no answer, "Hello...?"
"I don't think-" He shushed me again.
"Are you there?" Suddenly, the edge of the circle lit up. The light glowed bright against the dark clouds set to rain soon. My grip tightened on Mikey's hand, scared of what was to come. He leaned close to my ear, "It's alright. They're not gonna hurt you..."
"Who are they?" I whispered back.
"Fairies." Was all he said to me. Fairies!?
Then, suddenly, the glow scattered around the tall grass. I stood still in fear of stepping on one of the magical creatures. My grip on Mikey's arm stayed tight, but not enough to hurt him. They're fairies... how bad can they be?
Suddenly, every rendition of a fairy portrayed by the media came to mind.
Peter Pan... Fairly Odd Parents... Cinderella... Star Wars Ewok Adventures... did Harry Potter have fairies? All of these they were good... so how bad could they possibly be? Right?
Just as if I were in the real life Neverland, the fairies made little whistles and sparkles as they danced around. Little lights flew around Mikey and I mimicking that of a certain fairy named Tinker Bell.
"Wow, they're beautiful." There were a few quiet squeaks.
"They say thank you and think you're pretty too." I turned to him.
"No way, you can understand them!?" He nodded.
"Yeah, they can understand us but it's a little harder understanding them."
"Cool..." I said, then began to giggle as I watched them fly around. Mikey then took his opposite hand to me and slid my hand down from his arm. He held my hand straight out. Curiously, I eyed him.
"Darling, stay calm," His voice was so soft, "It's okay..." My eyes were stuck to him. He just looks so cute... all concentrated like that... speaking calmly... ugh... Mikey Way... you've stolen my heart away...
Then, a tingle was felt on the palm of my outstretched hand. I finally tore my gaze away from my pretty boyfriend to the glow radiating from the palm of my hand.
"Woah..." She danced around the palm of my hand, spinning around and making little noises. I couldn't help but giggle from the tingles she left.
In the story of Peter Pan, when a baby laughs for the first time, a fairy is born. But the moment someone stops believing in fairies. A fairy dies. Due to this, I've never lost my belief in them, out of fear of possibly being responsible for a fairy death. But how are they really real? Magic of course...
"She's so beautiful." I couldn't help but to stare in awe until she flew away, joining the others.
"She says thank you, and that you're beautiful too."
"Did she really say that? Or is that just you?" I asked.
"It's her! They all think you are," I smiled, leaning into Mikey, "But I do too of course."
"Well, thank you!" I called to them, "And thank you too." I spoke to my boyfriend, then kissed his cheek.
"Oh you shouldn't have done that."
"Why?" I asked.
"They're talking about us now. Says we're cute together. But they won't stop." He didn't have to tell me the last bit considering how much they were buzzing around now.
"Aww..." I stood on my toes, pulled on Mikey's collar, and gave him a sweet kiss. They went ballistic buzzing and glowing around us. We just laughed. But then, the dark clouds above made a growl. Immediately, the bright little lights hid away in the tall grass.
"Oh shit, it's gonna rain. We should probably go."
"Mkay..." I held a sad tone.
"Don't worry, that doesn't mean our little adventure date is over! C'mon..."
"Our adventure date?" I asked as he led me back the way we came.
"Yes! Now come! This is perfect." He tugged my hand, eyeing the rain clouds. But I couldn't help myself, I just stood in the middle of the trees, looking up as the rain fell. Mikey stood beside me, doing the same.
"I love the rain." I spoke. He turned to me.
"Me too. It attracts frogs." I whipped my head towards him.
"Frogs!?" I asked, astonished.
"Yes, you okay with that?"
"Of course! Let's go! Let's go!" He chuckled at my excitement as I jumped up and down on the soggy dirt.
"God, you're so cute." I giggled, gazing at his fogged up droplet covered glasses. Carefully, I removed his glasses from his eyes. He looks strange without his glasses... cute of course... but still strange...
"How's that?" I asked.
"Honestly? It looks the same compared to the foggy glasses." I giggled, holding a hand to his cheek and completely forgetting about the frogs by simply getting lost in his pretty hazel eyes.
"Mikey?" He hummed, "Have I ever told you how pretty your eyes are?"
"I don't think so, why?" He smirked.
"Cause they are ya doofus!" We both laughed, standing in the pouring rain. Then, he connected his lips with mine.
"Ya wanna go see some frogs?" He asked, pulling away with a smile across his face. My own face matched his.
"Hell yeah honeybee." He blushed lightly from the nickname. Aww... I love him... yeah... I love this doofus...
"Alright, let's go!" I handed back his glasses, which he slipped on. He then grabbed my hand, leading me through the forest as we went back and forth cracking jokes and laughing loud without a care in the world.
"Okay, they're around here somewhere." He had trouble finding the creek with his fogged up glasses.
"It's right here," I led him towards the edge of the water. He took his glasses and whipped them off, getting rid of the fog but gaining more water droplets.
"There they are!" He spoke happily as the frogs jumped around and made little ribbit sounds.
"Wow..." One then hopped into Mikey's hands. He held it towards me.
"Aww..." I patted the frogs head before Mikey let him back into the muddy creek, "Y'know what? There's probably worms around here too." His head shot up.
"Yes! Worms..." I giggled as he picked one up from the muddy forest floor.
"Hey Mikey?"
"Yeah?" I dropped a worm onto his head, "Ah! Oh god!" Quickly, he tried getting it off his grey beanie. I only laughed as it fell off and onto his face. Finally, he grabbed it, holding the creature in front of his eyes, "Hey Y/n?"
"Yeah?" And he dropped the worm onto my face, "Ah! It feels so weird," He chuckled as I struggled to get the little dude off my face and back into the Earth where they belonged, "My face feels gross."
"Mine does too," He said, "Wanna call it?"
"Yeah, can we go to your place?" I asked, standing up with Mikey close behind.
"Sure..."
"Cool," He held an arm around me as the rain still fell from the dark clouds, "Mikey?" He hummed as I leaned into him, "You're like, a really good boyfriend. I'm happy I started going out with you." I rubbed my eyes, suddenly feeling tired from all the adventuring.
"Aww," He kissed the top of my head, "I'm happy too. You make a great girlfriend," I smiled, humming, and desperately trying to keep my eyes open as we walked, "Aww, darling are you getting tired?" I nodded.
"Adventures are tiring, babe. But I still had a lot of fun." He chuckled as we crossed over the threshold separating the forest and town.
In just a few minutes we had made it to Mikey's apartment building. I hadn't realized how cold I really was until we stepped inside, taking in the nice warm air. He kept his arm around me up until he began unlocking his apartment door.
"You can take a shower if you want, but you don't have to if you don't want to. I just figured you're really cold n' all. But I understand if you're uncomfortable or anything. You could wear my clothes if you'd like since your-" He rambled as we walked into the apartment, but I shushed him as if the fairies were nearby.
"That actually would be nice, if you don't mind?" I said as he flopped on the couch.
"Not at all. Maybe I could join you...?" He tested. I felt my face go pink, so I stared at the floor.
"Uhm... uh... I uhm... I dunno..." He immediately sensed what was going on.
"Oh I'm so sorry!" He jumped up and hugged me, "I didn't mean to make you uncomfortable. Babe, it's okay if you don't wanna do that sorta stuff." He really is a good boyfriend...
"Thank you," I looked up at him as he pulled away, "Maybe another time, if that's okay."
"Of course, it's alright. I can wait," I smiled and nodded as he ran a hand down my face which was still cold from the outside world, "I'll get you some of my clothes. Be back in a minute." He went into the bedroom.
That was really nice of him... he really gets it... if a doofus like him can understand how to treat women why's it so hard for the rest of the world? A question I'll probably ponder for years...
"Here ya go babe," He spoke, handing me some clothes, "They'll probably be a little big."
"Thank you, that's okay," I kissed his cheek, before walking towards the bathroom, "Be back in a few."
He smiled, watching me until the bathroom door was shut. I leaned my back against the door, thinking of him.
Now... let's see what sorta clothes Mikey got for me... a pair of black pajama pants... and... oh man... a grey Misfits sweater... with the iconic logo and all... good band... not my first choice when talking about punk music... but definitely a good one...
Quickly, I shedded my completely drenched and slightly muddy clothes. My bra and underwear were, luckily, only a little damp. Good... that coulda been bad...
I stepped into the shower, which was one of those fancy ones that didn't have a tub at the bottom. Light brown tiles ran from the shower floor to the wall, but not quite to the ceiling. A little shelf cut into the tile held his body wash, shampoo, and all. Now... how do I use this foreign shower? Let's see... turn the knob...
Slowly, I turned the knob, immediately being hit with cold water. I jumped away from the water, adjusting the knob until it was finally warm. Then, I took the body wash off the shelf, and opened it. Smells like him... it's nice... is this creepy? I don't care... I like the way he smells... it's so comforting...
Then I finally began as much of my shower routine as I could possibly do without all my normal things. Once done, I dried off, and slipped on the clothes, taking a small whiff of the sweater I wore. A sense of comfort ran through my veins. Mikey... I love him... so much...
I smiled to myself, finally opening the bathroom door to see him on the couch in a pair of plaid dark blue pajama pants and a Black Flag t-shirt. His hazel eyes looked to me, and immediately went soft.
"Dear, you look so cute!" He jumped up and immediately hugged me, kissing the side of my head.
"Mikey?" I whispered.
"Yes darling?" He asked, pulling away to look at me.
"I love you." His eyes lit up once again as a smile spread across his face.
"Really!? You do!?" I nodded.
"A lot..."
"Oh, I love you too!" He cried, kissing my face all over, "Now come! Let's make some lunch..."
