Chapter Three, An Engagement and Surprises

Chapter Three, An Engagement Party and Surprises

Previously on Huella:

A week later Paul could finally show his beloved Alejandra what he had been working on for the entire week as the nursery was finally finished.
"No peeking." Paul teased, a laugh bubbling up in his throat as he led her into the nursery with his hands over her eyes. Now with the nursery complete Teddy can finally stay with them and give Andy and Luna a much-needed break as well. He, with everyone's agreement, hadn't wanted Teddy to stay in a house that had paint fumes wafting through it, and even with an Air-Freshening Charm it could still affect him if he had wolf senses like Remus which incidentally they won't find out until he's older.

"I can't even if I wanted to." Alejandra laughed, which brought a smile to Paul's face. He simply loved her laugh; well he loved her it was as simple as that. "My short height works in your favour."
"Hmm." Paul hummed in agreement, kissing his mark causing her to suck in a sharp breath. A smirk now spreads across the wolf-shifter's face.
"No fair! No teasing, Paul!" Alejandra complained.
"Who said it would only be teasing, my love?" Paul asked huskily. The past week they had been going at it like rabbits to his pack mate's consternation, especially as Leah and Luna went on a date a few days ago.

"Plus, I wouldn't put anything past you, my love. My beautiful jaguar." He added going back to the previous conversation before they got carried away, however he couldn't help but tease her some more first. "Although, if you like being blindfolded I'm sure we can add it to the bedroom later but first I wanted to show you this."
"Paul!" Ale moaned, slapping his arm lightly before she gasped for a whole other reason as he removed his hands allowing her to take in the nursery he had designed for their son. "This...this is amazing." She whispered as she turned to take it all in. Including his name written in white block-lettering within a painted brown circle amongst some fern trees above the cot. It had a very calming feel to it with the woodland theme which should help Teddy during the Full Moons as he just gets grouchy during that time.

It seemed the Metamorphmagus gene balanced the werewolf gene out. Turning once more to get a proper look at the room from the throws, the mobile above the cot, the white curtains, the cream carpet with the brown bear rug, a white armchair and footstool was beside the cot in the corner with a brown teddy bear body pillow, a hand carved little bookshelf shaped like a tree sat beside the chest of drawers on the south facing wall holding children's storybooks and some teddies while a grey wicker basket full of toys sat between the chest of drawers and the door to the wardrobe that was hand carved by Paul and Jared and painted the same colour as the other furniture, and finally, there was a cute Bambi rocking horse for when he's a little older.

"It's perfect!" Alejandra exclaimed, spinning on her heels and throwing her arms around Paul, peppering his face with kisses making him laugh. "I love it! Absolutely love it! Thank you, my love."
"I'm glad you liked it baby." Paul smiled, kissing her temple as he just held her lovingly in his arms. "And anything for you and our son. Absolutely anything." He kissed her with a hunger that only those who knew each other inside out and could love each other not in spite of their flaws but because of them could possess.

Chapter Three, An Engagement Party and Surprises

It had been five glorious weeks since Alejandra had moved back home to La Push with Teddy, Luna and Andromeda in tow and got engaged to Paul, and four weeks since the nursery Paul had designed for Teddy had been completed allowing Teddy to move in with his new parents. But for the last few days Alejandra had been waking up throwing up which worried everyone; but especially Paul. But there were a few who had a suspicion as to what was going on. Which was why when Andromeda had roped Paul into helping Luna with the planning for the engagement party that would take place the following day – a party Ale still didn't know about - she turned up with Sue Clearwater at the Lahote residence to look over Ale.

All had been pretty calm in the last few weeks but Ale and Luna both had trouble with reacclimating with normal life and struggle daily with their PTSD, but they had a large family to support them through this, including their overprotective wolf shifter Imprinters. Which was just one of the main reasons why Andromeda had petitioned to both MACUSA and the Council on La Push to allow the close friends of Ale and Luna to move to La Push, and in with her and Luna as there was more than enough room for them.

Plus, she knew it would not only help them all as they had come to rely rather closely on each other but those who would be moving here (her nephew Draco Malfoy, Luna's cousins Daphne and Astoria Greengrass, Neville Longbottom, Fred and George Weasley and George's girlfriend Angelina Johnson, Blaise Zabini, Theo Nott, Pansy Parkinson, Tracey Davis and Millicent Bulstrode) all wanted to get away from the Wizarding community of Britain. When Ale opened the door, in joggers and Paul's top with Teddy in her arms, when the two elder women knocked on her door, the two instantly noticed the pinched pallor complexion on her tanned sun-kissed face, her bright blonde hair now a dull blonde.

Something was going on and it looked like their suspicions would be proven right; Andromeda and Sue shared a brief glance before they turned back to the girl they both adored, concerned even if they did suspect what was going on. However, she knew Luna knew what was going on with her Soul-Sister due to her gift as she had noticed the young blonde making a lot of owl orders and planning for something else that Andromeda didn't know what, but as Luna didn't seem to be troubled by what she knew (the opposite in fact), she decided not to pry.

She did wonder whether what she suspected was true as Luna was the one who had suggested in passing to Leah that Ale had been rather sick rather regularly the past few days. And as Leah and Ale have been friends since they were five she had obviously told her mother out of love and concern.
"Andy? Sue? Is everything alright? I didn't know you were coming over today." Alejandra asked, stepping back to let them in. "Do you want anything to drink? I was just about to get Teddy a bottle."
"How're you feeling, sweetheart?" Sue asked concerned, resting the back of her hand on Ale's forehead, cheeks and neck. There was no temperature thankfully which caused her to sigh with relief.

"Sit." Andromeda commanded, pointing in the direction of the living room. "I'll make his bottle and get the drinks. Now, how're you feeling?"
Knowing not to argue with the daughter of the House of Black, Ale headed in the direction of the living room bouncing Teddy slightly as she walked as he was starting to grizzle.
"Rough. I think I'm coming down with something." Ale said loudly enough for Andromeda to hear from the kitchen as Sue followed the mother and son duo into the living room. "I can barely keep anything down, especially first thing in the morning and feel pretty lousy and tired all the time. All I'm doing is sleeping. How can I plan the proposal for Lily's Café if I'm nodding off? Never mind looking after Teddy! What if I fall asleep and something happens!? I would never forgive myself! I can't let Remus and Dora down! Or you and Ted, Andy! I-"

"Hey!" Andromeda interrupted, hurrying into the living room with the bottle in hand (which she had cooled with a Cooling Charm), and took Ale's hands as Sue took Teddy to feed him as she sat beside her second daughter. "Nothing is going to happen to Teddy, Alejandra, that I know for certain. You would never let that happen and neither would anyone on this reservation let anything happen to him, you or Luna. Not again. There is no possible or conceivable way you could let me, Ted, Nymphadora or Remus down. We love you wholly and unconditionally and are so beyond proud of you.

As for the proposal and plans for the café, perhaps take it easy for a while. You are not even eighteen years old yet, Alejandra and you're still healing physically, mentally and emotionally from the war. Ever since you were eleven you have been put through tremendous ordeals every year at Hogwarts but none more so in the last three years alone. At eleven you saw a teacher be killed in self-defence due to being possessed by Voldemort and your parents' protections reacted; at twelve you nearly died if not for Fawkes.

Thirteen, you discovered the truth of your parents' deaths. Fourteen, you were entered into a deadly tournament, saw a student get murdered and then was tortured yourself before having to duel with Voldemort before you could escape." Andromeda smiled sadly and pulled Alejandra into her arms brushing away her tears.
"Fifteen, you were lured into a trap with your friends, duelled Death Eaters and watched Sirius get murdered before you were tortured and possessed by Voldemort rendering you unconscious after you fought him off. Sixteen, Dumbledore the old fool took you on a dangerous task only to have to duel Death Eaters upon your return. This past year, you had to go on the run for nearly a year, tortured by my older sister, duel Death Eaters, see friends die, see bodies of more of your friends, along with Remus and...and D-Dora.

You found out that Snape and Dumbledore betrayed you just before you died in the Forbidden Forest, Ale. You may have come back and duelled Voldemort and won, ending the war, but you still died even if it were only just for a moment. You need to give yourself some time to heal, sweetheart and not expect yourself to be able to get back to normal so quickly." Andromeda soothed, kissing Alejandra's forehead as she ran her fingers through the blonde locks.

It was silent in the Lahote home for a moment as Sue fed and winded Teddy gently but expertly, her strong presence offering comfort to the troubled young witch much like Andromeda's did. Only when Teddy was asleep and placed in the bassinet to the side of the sofa did Sue speak once more, clasping Ale's hand in a comforting, tight hold.
"When was the last time you had your period, sweetie?" Sue asked as she pulled out a pregnancy test from her handbag. Ale's eyes widened at the sight of it as her brain worked overtime as she tried to work out when she last had her period and realised with startling clarity that she was five weeks late.

"Five weeks ago." Ale muttered; her right knee started to bounce with her nerves.
"Go take the test, sweetie and we will be right here to plan what comes next." Sue suggested, placing the test into her palm. Alejandra nodded absently as she wandered off to the bathroom to take the test. Thoughts were flying too rapidly through her mind to focus on one at any one time. She knew she and Paul had spoken about giving Teddy some younger siblings but how are they supposed to cope with two children that would be under two years old, by the time this baby is born? She may be panicking for nothing she knew, but she had a feeling she wasn't. But despite her fears, Ale also knew herself and Paul. They would strive to give Teddy and this maybe-baby the best childhood and life they possibly could with all the love, support and care they could ever hope to have.

Five minutes later Alejandra wandered back down to the living room with the positive Clearblue test that read 4+ weeks pregnant on the little screen. It was with that information that Sue bundled Ale and herself into her car to take them to La Push Hospital to see Connie Littlesea nee Black – Billy's little sister, and who was an OB-GYN – to get a scan to make sure both Ale and baby were okay. While Andromeda decided to take Teddy back to her house, as a means to distract Paul under the guise that she was at home sleeping and promised to keep him busy with Luna's help. That got a laugh out of them all as they knew without a doubt that Luna knew she was pregnant and would be distracting Paul at this very moment.

"Everything is going to be okay, Ale." Connie smiled at the young woman who was like a niece to her even if she was only related to her deceased sister-in-law she still loved her, as she fired up the ultrasound. Ale gave her a shaky smile, turning her eyes on to Sue and holding out her hand which Sue readily took offering a soothing and calming squeeze. "This is going to be a little cold, okay." Connie warned as she put the gel on Ale's stomach before waving the wand over her flat stomach. Straight away a smile spread across Connie's face which caused Ale to let a haggard breath of relief at the sight of that smile causing them all to laugh a little.
"We remember what our first pregnancy was like don't we, Connie?" Sue laughed.

"We do." Connie agreed as she turned the screen to face Ale and Sue. "Now, you see here," she pointed to a grey blob on the screen. "That's your baby."
"It is?" Alejandra asked in wonder, her eyes starting to shine with tears. "Are they okay?"
"They are perfectly healthy and are developing nicely. I would say you're five weeks pregnant exactly so that would make the baby due on or around February 2nd 2021." Connie replied. "Would you like to hear the heartbeat before I print you some pictures as a surprise for Paul and everyone."
"Yes please." Alejandra replied eagerly. In the next moment tears fell down her cheeks as a strong and healthy heartbeat filled the room. "Hi baby. It's Mama and I love you so much." She whispered to the screen as Connie printed off the scan photos as Sue recorded a video of Ale's reaction with the heartbeat in the background. She knew Paul would love that.

***

The following day both Alejandra and Paul were excited for a whole different reason. Paul was excited to see Alejandra's reaction to seeing her friends again and learning they would be moving here permanently at the party this afternoon – although he was nervous to meet them again as he only met them briefly at the Yule Ball. Alejandra was nervous and excited to tell Paul about their baby, but ultimately she was excited now and had decided to do it that morning in the privacy of their own home; before they even left the bed actually.

"Good morning baby girl." Paul's husky morning voice pulled Ale from her thoughts bringing a smile to her face as she felt his fingers gently lift her chin up from his chest before her lips were claimed in a deep, passionate soul scorching kiss that left her wanting more when they pulled apart to take in deep lungfuls of air.
"Good morning, babe." Alejandra smiled, just one look from this man and he was able to calm her down no matter what. "I love you."
"I love you too." Paul beamed widely, pecking her lips softly. "How're you feeling today?" He asked with a worried frown.

"I'm feeling a little better. The Stomach Soothers Andy gave me seem to be helping so far." Alejandra replied. Which wasn't a lie, after it had been confirmed she was pregnant Andy had made her some Stomach Soothers that pregnant women could take. "I have an engagement present for you." She added sitting up and reaching into her bedside table pulling out an envelope.
"Oh really?" Paul asked, both touched and shocked. "You didn't have to get me a present baby, you know that right?"

"I know." Alejandra replied, gently placing the envelope into his hands. "But you'll like this one." Feeling a little confused Paul opened the envelope to reveal a scan photo with Ale's name, yesterday's date on it around one on the top with a little blob highlighted in the middle slightly to the right.
"Is this-?" Paul asked, his words and breath catching in the back of his throat as he looked up at the love of his life. Tears gathered in his eyes.
"Yes." Alejandra responded anxiously, tears gathering in her own eyes. "It's why I've been feeling so ill lately. Sue took me and Connie did the scan. I'm five weeks pregnant so Teddy will be a big brother come February 2nd."

"So the first day I got you back." Paul said with a salacious smirk widening across his lips, only to laugh when Alejandra smacked his arm as giggles to escape her lips causing the smirk to transform into an adorning, loving smile.
"There's this too." Ale added, loading up the video that Sue had sent her before they left the hospital. As Paul watched the video of his Ale's reaction with a strong heartbeat playing in the background tears fell down his cheeks despite the wide happy smile on his face. Ale tenderly wiped the tears off of Paul's cheeks, a smile on her face now as the tension bled out of her as she watched Paul watch the video over and over again. Each time he did so, he seemed to become more in love with it.

"Are you happy?" Ale couldn't help but ask after five minutes of just watching Paul play the video over and over again.
"Baby, I can assure you I am beyond happy." Paul told her, brushing her cheeks with his thumb with such tender devotion it almost made her cry. After gently setting both the scan photo and her phone on his bedside table he turned back towards Ale with a look of hunger, love and desire in his eyes. They soon made quick work of Teddy still being asleep to celebrate. It was a good job she was already pregnant to say the least.

***

Later that afternoon, after Ale and Paul had shared a relaxing bath together and had gotten themselves and Teddy ready for the day, they headed over to Sam and Emily's. When they arrived everyone filed out of the red house with bright smiles on their faces, shouting "SURPRISE!!!" The entire pack was there with Sue, Uncle Billy, Luna, Kim, Rachel, Emily and Andromeda.

"It's your engagement party!" Jared shouted excitedly, making Ale laugh, despite Kim cringing at his loud tone nudging him with her elbow to the ribs when he made Teddy stir, but thankfully remained fast asleep, strapped to Paul's chest. Ale didn't mind overly much – especially as Teddy remained asleep when Paul rubbed his back - she loved her goofball best friend.
"Thank you." Alejandra smiled at everyone; the amount of love she could see directed towards her was a soothing balm to her frazzled nerves from the war.

"Andy and I have another surprise for you, Ale." Luna declared with a wide smile. "They should be here any minute." She added, looking at her watch as she leaned back into Leah who smiled and wrapped her arms around her.
"They?" Alejandra asked confused, tilting her head to the side. At that moment, a bright light filled Emily's dive and front garden. It was a Portkey that held her brothers Neville, Fred and George, her cousin Draco, her best friends Blaise, Theo, Pansy, Millicent, Tracey, Daphne, and Astoria – Daphne's little sister and Luna's cousin- and George's girlfriend, Angelina Johnson.

A mix of a sob and scream of happiness left Alejandra's lips as she left Paul's arms running into Neville's arms, Fred and George joining in the hug sandwiching her in a hug from her brothers. She didn't hear what was said to her, but she could hear the soothing tones to their concerned voices, calming her, only to be pulled from their arms and into a tight hug from Draco.

"Is this pass the Jaguar?" Alejandra laughed when Blaise and Theo pulled her from Draco and into a hug before she was hugged by Pansy, Tracey and Millicent, then Daphne and Astoria after they had finished hugging Luna. But she was surprised when Angelina hugged her just as tight as the others, but she supposed she really shouldn't have been as Angelina has always been kind to her.

When the hugs were finally over she introduced everyone to the pack and was in for a massive surprise. Much like the trance Luna and Leah went into five weeks ago the same thing happened with the majority of her friends and the majority of the pack. Jason Young Imprinted on Fred; Jared's little sister Jamie-Lee Imprinted on Neville; Taylor Benally Imprinted on Draco; and Seth Clearwater Imprinted on Astoria. Which meant everyone but Millicent and Tracey had either a partner as Blaise and Daphne were together, and Theo and Pansy were together.

Which also meant little Jack Fuller – Brady's twin brother - and her cousin Jacob Black were now the only ones without an Imprint. Sam had Emily; Embry had Imprinted on her cousin Rachel Black. Alyssa Call – Embry's older sister and Sam's little sister – and Quil Ateara had Imprinted on each other. Jared had Kim; there was Paul and herself; Leah had Luna; and Collin Littlesea and Brady Fuller had also Imprinted on each other. For the next hour was a round of explanations about the pack, the tribe and Imprints for all of Ale's friends as they sat around the firepit in the back garden as Emily passed out food to everyone.

"We have a surprise of our own." Paul announced with a large grin, practically vibrating happiness and excitement, after they had accepted their new truths.
"What is it?" Embry asked curiously.
"We're having a baby." Ale and Paul announced gleefully.
The noise within the garden was almost at unbearable levels but no one cared as they all congratulated the newly engaged couple.
"OH! That is wonderful news, sweetie!" Emily cried, wrapping her arms tightly around Alejandra before she did the same to Paul.

"Thank you Emily." Both Paul and Alejandra said happily, before a squeal left Ale's lips followed by a laugh as Fred and George swept her up into their arms, sitting her upon their shoulders – much like Theo and Blaise did after the First Task of the Triwizard tournament.
"Our little Ale is all grown up –"
"- but we are going to be the best uncles ever!" George finished causing Ale and Angelina to share a look, rolling their eyes fondly at them.

That started an argument between Neville, Draco, Blaise, Theo, Jared, Embry, Jacob, Quil, Seth, and Jason which Sam and the three youngest pack members joined in; all of them arguing with the twins that they would be the best uncles. When the twins finally put her down, Alejandra went to sit next to her Uncle Billy resting her head on his shoulder.
"Congratulations sweetie. Are you happy sweetheart?" Billy asked, concerned, as he kissed her forehead.

"Beyond happy, Uncle Billy." Alejandra reassured him, kissing his cheek before returning her head to his shoulder to watch them all bond together discussing her engagement and the new baby that would only be ten months younger than Teddy. "Thank you for taking me in, Uncle Billy and showing me what love was like and introducing me to our large and crazy family."

"You never ever have to thank me for that." Billy said firmly, hugging her close. She has been more like a third daughter to him and his late wife Sarah then a niece. "We wouldn't be as close as we are now without you, you tie us together and I can assure you everyone would be lost without you. Your mother, father, Sirius, Remus and your Aunt Sarah would be as incredibly proud of you and who you have become as I am, little jaguar."
"I love you Uncle Billy."

"I love you too. Never doubt that." Billy told her. The pair were content to share a hug as they watched everyone, they did join in at times, but Billy had always been a balm to Alejandra which Paul knew and was more than happy to let her soak up Billy's presence.

'Are you happy?' Paul mouthed to Ale, beaming back at her when she nodded just watching him feed Teddy. Knowing that would soon be their second child in his arms. 'I love you.'
'I love you too.' Alejandra mouthed to him. "Are you happy?" She asked, she had to make sure that Paul was as happy as she was, happy about this newest surprise.
"There are no words to describe how happy you make me, my witchy Jaguar." Paul told her, making his way over to soak up this moment together. Knowing their next adventure was right around the corner.
