It's been a two days since the encounter with the Deathsong on what I'm naming Melody Island. Since then, me and the Dragon Riders have been searching for an island to call our own. And the results have been... Well, they could be better.

You finish writing in your journal as you ride on Stormfly behind Astrid, circling the island Hiccup and Snotlout were on. You looked down to see them running from a group of angry yaks, and you couldn't help but roll your eyes. Sure, let's have the overgrown lizards that protect them rest for a bit while they get chased by yaks. Very smart idea, Hiccup.

Y/n: "There they are!"

You said as you pointed to the edge of the island where Hiccup and Snotlout were. Yaks were closing in on them, so Stormfly flew fast as Astrid steered her. Once there, Stormfly fired a stream of fire at the yaks which made them run off in terror, and the two dragon riders looked up at the two of you.

Y/n: "You're welcome, you muttonheads!"

Snotlout: *to Hiccup* "Haha! He called you a muttonhead."

Hiccup: "Pretty sure he called you one as well, Snotlout."

Snotlout: "Haha! I know..."

Back in the air, Hiccup was back in the lead with Toothless. You decided to stay with Astrid for the remainder of the flight until you all found a place to stay.

Hiccup: "Okay, so check that island off the list."

Fishlegs: "Ooh, this is so exciting! Looking for an island to call our own!"

Ruffnut: "Yeah, I like this idea. Move away from Berk, get my own place, away from you-know-who."

Tuffnut: "Yeah, you're telling me, sister. I am so sick of you-know-who. He never knows when to shut up! I want him out of here."

Tuffnut says as he agrees with his twin sister, making Y/n roll his eyes at the stupidity.

Hiccup: "Guys, let's focus. We need to find an island that's safe, secure, and habitable for both us and the dragons."

Snotlout: "Oh, blah, blah, blah! How many times do we have to hear that?"

Hiccup: "Um, until we find what we're looking for. Let's check this one out."

Hiccup said as he and Toothless flew down to another island. The Riders followed and landed in a field of bushes with blue flowers. Everyone hopped off, except you who stayed on Stormfly.

Hiccup: "Not bad, not bad. Lots of fresh water, seems like a plentiful food supply."

Ruffnut: "And lots of cool blue flowers."

Ruffnut said as she held handfuls of said blue flowers and smelled them.

Astrid: "Wait, aren't those--?"

Fishlegs: *gasps* "Blue oleander! Deadly poisonous to dragons."

Tuffnut: "So, we're not staying?"

Tuffnut asked before Barf and Belch blew up the place. Back in the sky, you were narrating over the scene in your journal.

Like, I've said: the results haven't been so great. From yak island, to poison island, and even... Whispering Deaths.

Fishlegs: "Oh, this island is beautiful!"

Fishlegs says as the Riders all begin to fly towards it.

Fishlegs: "I especially like the weird dots all over the--"

Hiccup cut Fishlegs off when they got close once he realized what the "dots" really were.

Hiccup: "Those aren't dots! They're Whispering Death Holes!"

As if one cue, Whispering Death dragons came up out from their holes and roared at the Riders. You all turned around and immediately flew in the opposite direction.

Snotlout: "Been there, done that!

Astrid: "Next!"

And... back to the yak island.

Back on the island where the yaks were, Fishlegs and Y/n were running from said yaks.

Y/n: "Godsdammit, Fishlegs! I'm gonna kill you when I get the chance!"

Fishlegs: "My bad! Should've crossed this island off the list!"

Ahead of them were Hiccup and Astrid who jumped off a cliff and landed on their dragons. Y/n was right after, landing on the Deadly Natter and flew away with Astrid after Hiccup. Fishlegs follows, jumping from the cliff and barreling down onto Meatlug. They both go down farther than intended, making them both queezy as they fly away.

Although, I think we've finally hit the jackpot.

In the skies above a new island, you and the Riders looked down to see how expansive it was. It was large and green, and beautiful. And it didn't seem dangerous in the slightest.

Hiccup: "This looks pretty good."

Astrid: "Those cliffs could work. Good sightlines, easily defendable."

Y/n: "And I bet there's such amazing views on this island."

Astrid looked over her shoulder to glance at you weirdly. You just shrugged.

Y/n: "So the crazy teen with knives likes a good view. So what?"

Fishlegs: "The location is great!"

Ruffnut: "It's perfect."

Tuffnut: "Yeah. Too perfect. I'm just saying, in the immortal words of the mighty Thor, "When something looks too perfect, it probably sucks"!"

Hiccup: "Yeah, I'm pretty sure Thor never said anything remotely like that."

Y/n: "At all. Like, nothing you just said seems factually correct."

Tuffnut: "Oh, really? How do you know? Do either of you know Thor? Have you talked to him recently?"

Hiccup: "No, but--"

Y/n: "Yes, and he's actually saying something to me right now."

Hiccup & Tuffnut: "Wait, really?"

Y/n: "Yeah. He says: SHUT THE HEL UP BEFORE I TAKE YOUR GODSDAMN SCALPS!"

Hiccup & Tuffnut: "Yes, sir."

Y/n: "Thank you. Gods, I feel like I'm watching over children sometimes!"

You said as you turned back to look at the island. However, Tuffnut doesn't stay quiet for long.

Tuffnut: "Look, I just have a feeling about this place, and I think we all know what happens when I get a feeling."

Astrid: "We ignore it?"

You chuckle at this as Astrid and Hiccup smirk before flying away. However, Tuffnut was not amused.

Tuffnut: "Mark my words. There will be something on this island. Something mysterious. Something horrible. Something... Something!"

Ruffnut looks at her brother.

Ruffnut: "Ya finished?"

The twins fly forward to catch up with you and the others.

Hiccup grabs his bag from the side of Toothless as he begins speaking, unaware of the huddle behind him.

Hiccup: "Okay, first thing we need to do is set up camp for the night. We need dry wood for fire, we need fresh water, and we need someone on traps."

Astrid: "Snotlout, what is that?"

Hiccup turns around to find his friends and you in a huddle together.

Snotlout: "It's an "S" for "Snotlout". I think aesthetically it would look nice flying over."

Y/n: "Or dumb as Hel."

Astrid: "Y/n's right, that's ridiculous. It doesn't matter what the outpost looks like. It needs to be functional and operational."

Astrid says and Hiccup tries to see what you and his friends were doing.

Hiccup: "Uh, guys, what we really need is--"

Fishlegs: "A place for rest, relaxation, and replenishing after a hard day's work. You're absolutely right, Hiccup. Look, Meatlug and I had some thoughts."

Fishlegs says as he pulls out a rock diagram of what he thought the outpost should be like.

Y/n: "When did you have time to make that?"

Astrid points at the center piece.

Astrid: "Is that a hot tub?"

Fishlegs: "No, that's the mud bath!"

Fishlegs points to the other side of the diagram.

Fishlegs: "The hot tub is over there."

Toothless lets out a soft, confused growl.

Hiccup: "Tell me about it."

Tuffnut: "Wait a minute. Everyone stop. I don't see it."

Ruffnut: "Me neither."

Hiccup: "What?"

Hiccup asks as he walks up to the twins.

Tuffnut: "Um, the boar pit. Where is it? Where's the boar pit?!"

Y/n: "I'm sorry, what?"

Ruffnut: "You see, the centerpiece of any good outpost is a boar pit."

Astrid: "Why?"

Tuffnut: "Everybody needs a little entertainment now and then, don't they?"

Tuffnut asks with a questionable smile, and Astrid just looks at him.

Fishlegs: "Well, we do know where to get boars."

Toothless suddenly roars and fires a plasma blast at the ground right were Snotlout's "S" was. This grabs everyone's attention as you all turn to Hiccup.

Hiccup: "Oops, sorry about that. Okay, so, now that we have your attention, we really need to set up camp for the night."

Tuffnut: "Wait, what about the--"

Hiccup: "Ah-da-da-da! We-We'll talk about the dragon outpost design in the morning. For now, someone needs to get the water."

Snotlout groans and scoffs at this as he turns to Astrid.

Snotlout: "I don't know about you, but I like whiney Berk Hiccup way better than Princess Outpost Hiccup."

Astrid: "I know, right?"

Astrid says before turning to Hiccup with a smile and two thumbs-up to signal that she was only kidding. Both Hiccup and Toothless sigh as Y/n walks past them.

Y/n: "Welp, I'm gonna go scouting. See you guys in a few hours."

Later that night, you and the Riders were all gathered around a fire with the dragons sleeping. However, a rustle in the bushes wakes Toothless up and he looks around.

Hiccup: "What is it, bud?"

Tuffnut: "I'll tell you what it is: rats. Rats the size of yaks."

Ruffnut looks at her twin.

Tuffnut: "No, it could also-- Is it yaks the size of rats? Yakrats! Hahaha! Wait, those would be adorable. No, no. I know what it is. It's yaks the size of dragons. Right, Toothless? You with me, T?"

Toothless grunts before laying his head back to to go back to sleep.

Y/n: "I agree with the Night Fury. You keep talking, I'll eat every boar you try to use for your boar pit. Or even feed it to the Nightmare."

Tuffnut: "You monster."

Fishlegs: "There's no such things as yaks the size of dragons."

Tuffnut: "Yakdragons to you, my friend."

Tuffnut said as he suddenly appeared behind Fishlegs and Astrid, making the former yelp in fright.

Tuffnut: "And when you've heard their cries, you'll believe. Trust me. Mm-hmm. Rakay-ya-na-na--!"

Y/n: "Tuffnut, you finish that, and I will seriously take your scalp."

Tuffnut stops immediately and looks at you for a few silent and fearful moments. Then he looks back down at Fishlegs and Astrid.

Tuffnut: "You can probably just imagine it."

Hiccup: "Okay, Y/n's right, Tuff. Knock it off."

Snotlout: "Yeah, you're not scaring anyone."

Tuffnut: "Really?"

Tuffnut asks as he gets in Snotlout's face.

Tuffnut: "What if there were... snakes out there in the dark?"

Snotlout: "Well, I'm pretty sure me and Y/n can take care of 'em, right, Y/n?"

Y/n: "Mm-hmm. Sure."

Y/n said as he poked the fire with one of his daggers.

Tuffnut: "Then what about giant snakes? Snakes big to swallow a man whole and barf out his bones? Blech!"

Snotlout: "Ha! Please. Barfing out bones. Y/n...?"

Y/n: "Nope, I'm abandoning you on that endeavor. Good luck."

Snotlout laughs nervously at this before grabbing Hookfang's wing to hide himself with. His Monstrous Nightmare snarls at him, making his rider glare back.

Snotlout: "What?"

Tuffnut: "Yeah, that's right. Go to bed! Sleep... if you can."

Tuffnut said as he walked over to his twin and dragon before lying down to go to sleep. He begins mumbling stuff about trolls and "demon toads", making Y/n roll his eyes.

Y/n: "You guys head to sleep. I'll take first watch."

Ruffnut: "Don't need to tell me twice."

Ruffnut said before falling backwards and immediately falling asleep.

Astrid: "If you say so, Y/n. Night, guys."

Astrid said as she lied back against Stormfly.

Fishlegs: "Night, everyone."

Fishlegs also lies back against his dragon.

Snotlout: "Heheh... You were kidding when you said I was alone with the "giant snakes" thing, right, Y/n?"

You turned to Snotlout without an answer, the crackling fire reflecting in your eyes. This makes Snotlout nervously chuckle again before he whimpers and fully hides underneath Hookfang's wing. Hiccup then turns to you.

Hiccup: "You sure about this, Y/n? I can keep watch first this time around."

Y/n: "I know, but I like doing it. I got plenty of energy left, and it gives me something to do. Go on ahead and sleep. I'll wake you up in a few hours, 'kay?"

Hiccup looks at you for a moment, concerned as to why you were just staring at the fire instead of looking at him. However, he just nodded in acceptance and lied down to sleep.

Hiccup: "Alright, then. Goodnight, Y/n. Don't stay up all night again."

Y/n: "Heh, I won't. Goodnight, Hiccup."

You told the Dragon Rider as you kept your eyes on the fire. You looked at it, trying to imagine anything else. However, your mind refused. It kept showing that same godsforsaken day.

"Ulva!"

"Y/n, run!"

"ROOOAAAAAAAARR!!!"

Later into the night, the fire had gone out as everyone but you was still asleep. However, something howling in the woods takes Tuffnut from his sleep as he snaps awake and sits up straight.

Tuffnut: "Aah! What was that?"

Y/n: "Probably just a wolf or coyote, Tuffnut. Go back to sleep."

Tuffnut looks over at you, who had a pan flute up to your lips which you begin playing.

Tuffnut: "You play the pan?"

Y/n: "So what if I do?"

You said before playing again. However, a rustling in the forest and Tuffnut's frightened yelps stop you once again.

Tuffnut: "What was that?"

Y/n: "Like I said before, probably just some animal. Go back to sleep."

Tuffnut: "But what if it's something stalking us? Like a yakdragon?!"

Y/n: "Look, if you're so scared, go check for yourself, yeah?"

You told Tuffnut before bringing your pan flute up to your mouth again to play it. However, before you could, you saw the male twin staring at you from the corner of your eye. You just groaned and set your arms down.

Y/n: "Fine, I'll come with you."

Tuffnut: "Yes!"

Tuffnut said as he stood up and made his way towards the forest. You just sighed as you set your pan flute back into your bag and followed Tuffnut. Once in the woods, it became clear it was much darker and more eerie. Fluttering wings came from everywhere, and Tuffnut had become terrified once more as you only had your guard up.

Tuffnut: "Y/n, I know I made up yakdragons, but what if--?"

Y/n: "Tuffnut, yakdragons are not real."

You and Tuffnut quickly spun around when you both heard something flapping behind you. However, there was nothing there when you turned around.

Y/n: "At least I hope so."

You and Tuffnut go back-to-back as you both searched for whatever was stalking the two of you. A massive shadow then passed by the trees, making Tuffnut gulp.

Tuffnut: "It's in the trees..."

The shadow passed by again, and Tuffnut declared that it was a yakrat. However, something dashed by both of your legs which makes Tuffnut jump and you aim your daggers at it. However, when you both look at it, you both only found a chicken staring at the two of you.

Tuffnut: "Oh, it's just a chicken. It's a tiny chicken."

Y/n: "Well, I guess I'll get the fire started again."

Tuffnut: "Hello, breakfast!"

Tuffnut said as he rubbed his hands together and went to grab the chicken. However, before he could, a loud cry could be heard as a darkness enveloped behind you and Tuffnut. You both turn around, only to see a massive black dragon spreading its wings out against the moonlight as it lets out a mighty roar.

Y/n & Tuffnut: "Oh... my... Thor..."

The chicken clucks in fear.

Back at the campsite, the Riders were still asleep. Snotlout was also now lying on a log as he dreamt or Astrid as a pillow. However, their all quickly taken from their sleep as rapid footsteps were heard along with Tuffnut's cries for help.

Tuffnut: "Help! Help!"

Tuffnut and you scream as you run back to the camp and everyone runs up to the two of you to see if you were okay. Once you both stopped, you panted as you held your hands on your knees.

Tuffnut: "Chicken! Roaring! Roaring huge chicken! Chicken roar!"

Fishlegs: "Is he saying they saw a big, roaring chicken?"

Astrid: "He's making no sense, as usual. Y/n, what did you guys see?"

Y/n: "Winged darkness... big black... circus..."

Fishlegs: "Okay, he's making even less sense than Tuffnut now."

Tuffnut finally caught his breath and properly said what he was trying to say.

Tuffnut: "Not a chicken. Dragon. Huge. Massive. What's another word?"

Y/n: "Colossal..."

Tuffnut: "Yes, colossal!"

Fishlegs: "What happened to the chicken and the circus?"

Tuffnut: "Forget the chicken and the circus! We gotta get outta here!"

Astrid yawns tiredly.

Astrid: "Is anyone falling for this?"

Ruffnut: "I dunno. I haven't seen him this freaked out since he found a leech on his--"

Astrid: "Okay, I'm gonna stop you there. Ugh."

Hiccup: "And Y/n isn't the kind of person to play a prank, so let's go check this out so we can all go back to sleep."

Later, back in the forest, you and Tuffnut were leading the Riders back to where you saw the giant dragon.

Tuffnut: "Okay, when this giant beast rips us limb from limb, I expect a full apology from every one of you except Y/n. And a handshake."

Y/n: "Tuffnut, how are they gonna be able to shake hands? Their limbs will be gone."

Tuffnut: "No, no, you're right. But I still expect a full apology."

A rustle is heard and Tuffnut shushes everyone. Then he looks at you and you nod as you pull out your daggers. Then you both leap from the bushes, with Tuffnut screaming a battle cry as he moves around erratically while you move around him, pointing your daggers anywhere and everywhere. However, you both stop when you see the chicken again.

Tuffnut: "No! It was here, and it was huge."

Y/n: "I swear to Thor, we're not making this up."

Tuffnut: *to chicken* "Here, tell them. You were standing right there. Tell them, chicken."

The chicken just stares silently at Tuffnut. Ruffnut walks up to her brother and you, worried a bit for the both of you.

Ruffnut: "Uh, you guys are kinda scaring me." *to Tuffnut* "And we shared a womb."

The Riders all begin to walk away and back to camp, leaving you and Tuffnut alone with the chicken. Said chicken begins clucking, but Tuffnut turns away.

Tuffnut: "I can't even look at you right now."

The chicken crows, and Tuffnut glares at it.

Tuffnut: "What did you just say?"

The chicken crows quietly this time.

Tuffnut: "I didn't think so. Come on, Y/n."

Tuffnut said as he walked away. You just sighed as you followed him, with the chicken in tow.

It was now morningtime, and Hiccup and Toothless were now just waking up. They both yawn and stretch in unison before Hiccup walks up to Fishlegs and Snotlout.

Hiccup: "Okay, now, let's talk outpost."

Astrid walks up to him with a rolled up piece of paper.

Astrid: "Since you brought it up, I've been working on my designs."

She unfurls the paper, reveal a handmade drawing of a metal lookout tower with spikes and skulls on it and around it with flames as well. On top was a stick figure drawing of Astrid herself weidling a spear with a skull on it.

Astrid: "We'll set up lookout posts with interlocking fields of fire and--"

Fishlegs: "Never get any rest."

Fishlegs cuts Astrid off and motions to his outpost diagram.

Fishlegs: "But here, in my meditation garden--"

Snotlout: "Neither of those is S-shaped. Did you not see my design?"

Ruffnut: "Boar pit! Boar pit! Boar pit!"

Ruffnut cheered as she slowly rose from behind Fishlegs.

Hiccup: "Guys, guys, guys, listen to me. We need one idea. We can't design five different outposts. Or... can we?"

Hiccup asks himself before he gets an idea.

Hiccup: "You know what? Boar pit. Great idea."

Ruffnut: "Whooooaa. What just happened?"

Hiccup: "Oh. S-shape? I love it."

Snotlout: "Don't freak me out, Hiccup. It gives me the willies."

Hiccup: "I'm just saying, let's all come up with a design that we each think is the best, and then we'll vote on it! Does that sound fair?"

Fishlegs, Ruffnut, and Snotlout all look at Hiccup like he just grew a second head.

Astrid: "What are you up to?"

Hiccup: "Nothing, nothing at all. Just trying to keep the troops happy. You know what they say. Happy troops are, uh... happy groups? Speaking of troops, where's Y/n? We need his input on a design as well."

Astrid: "No idea. Haven't seen him or Tuff since last night."

Astrid said as she began walking away.

Hiccup: "That's strange..."

The son of Stoick notices Ruffnut passing by and gets her attention.

Hiccup: "Hey, Ruff, where's your other half? Seen Y/n?"

Ruffnut: "Don't ask me. All I know is this boar pit is not gonna dig itself."

Back in the forest, you and Tuffnut were walking around trying to find the dragon that you saw the night before. Oh, and the chicken was still with you, too.

Tuffnut: "Okay, giant dragon, you are officially on notice. Oh, you can run, but you can't hide."

Y/n: "Pretty sure it can still fly, though."

Tuffnut: "Okay, I guess you can fly. You can also run. But you can't hide! Because nothing escapes the watchful eye of--WHOA!"

Tuffnut lets out cry of surprise as he looks down at a cliffside that goes for miles. He then gets pulled back by you, who saved him.

Y/n: "You're welcome that you're under my watchful eye, Tuff."

Tuffnut: "Yes! With your situational awareness and my keen hindsight, we'll be able to catch this dragon, no sweat!"

Tuffnut says as you and him walk away in a different direction.

Y/n: "Tuff, I don't think you know what hindsight means."

Tuffnut: "Oh, hush it, you."

You couldn't help but chuckle as the two of you and the chicken explored more of the forest to find the dragon.

Tuffnut: "Okay, so it's gonna be the hard way. Fine, that's the way I like it. Y/n, what about you? You like it hard?"

Y/n: "Tuffnut, you really need to work on how you choose your words."

Tuffnut: "What do you mean?"

Before you could answer, the two of you come across another cliff. However, Tuffnut stops both himself and you from falling off of.

Tuffnut: "Ha! See? Oh, yeah. Tuffnut Thorston is locked in now. And with the help of his trusty partner Y/n--"

Y/n: "Don't call me that."

You says as you turn to walk off, looking at Tuffnut as you do.

Tuffnut: "Well, with our powers combined, we can--"

Y/n & Tuffnut: "Aaaaah!!!"

You both scream as you both end up falling off a cliff somehow, hitting multiple rocks one after the other, leaving you in agonizing pain.

Tuffnut: "Multiple ledges! Ow, ow, ow, ow!"

Y/n: "Why is there so many rocks?!"

Tuffnut: "Ow, ow, ow, ow!"

Eventually, the two of you land at the bottom. You simply groan in pain as Tuffnut speaks.

Tuffnut: "This island is very cliffy!"

The chicken clucks.

Back at the campsite, Hiccup was leaning against Toothless as he watches his friends work in peace and quiet.

Hiccup: "Do you hear that, Toothless?"

The Night Fury purrs in response.

Hiccup: "That's the sound of peace and quiet. You know, making them work together might be the best idea I've ever had."

As Hiccup says this, Snotlout reaches for a palm-sized rock for his outpost design. However, Fishlegs beat him to it and grabbed the rock instead.

Snotlout: "Uh, excuse me? My rock."

Fishlegs: "Oh, how do you figure?"

Snotlout: "I need it! That rock makes the bottom of my "S", and I need my "S"."

Fishlegs: "Really? Your "S"? Your genius architectural marvel."

Snotlout: "Give me the rock."

Fishlegs: "Ah, since you put it like that..."

Fishlegs goes to give Snotlout the rock. However, he quickly changes hands and instead throws the rock to Meatlug who caught it in her mouth. She chews it up before spitting it back out onto the ground, the rock now melted.

Fishlegs: "There. There's your rock."

Angrily, Snotlout stands up with a straight face and turns to Fishlegs. Then he flops down onto the large viking's diagram, destroying and flattening it.

Snotlout: "And there's your architectural marvel."

Fishlegs gasps in horror at what he sees and Hiccup stands up as he crosses his arms.

Hiccup: "And I've spoken too soon."

Toothless groans as he walks away while Fishlegs and Snotlout fight. Ruffnut then walks up to Hiccup with a sly smile.

Ruffnut: "Hey, Hiccup, I'm ready for a dry run. Wanna be the boar? Heheheheh!"

Hiccup: "Ugh..."

Ruffnut laughs before both her and Hiccup notice you and Tuffnut walking by them. They immediately became curious and concerned due to both of you being dirty and scratched up.

Ruffnut: "Whoa. What happened to them."

The two of you go to sit down at a log to rest, finally deciding to take a break from searching for the dragon. As you do, Tuffnut grabs some water and hands you one, which you gladly take. As you drink, Hiccup and Ruffnut walked up to the two of you.

Ruffnut: "What happened to you guys?"

Y/n: *stops sipping* "We fell off a cliff looking for the dragon."

Hiccup: "You two were really out there all day looking for that dragon?"

Ruffnut: "Instead of digging our boar pit? Priorities, huh?"

She says as she looks at Hiccup who rolls his eyes.

Hiccup: "Or... maybe they really did see something. Like I said last night, Y/n isn't one to pull pranks like this."

Tuffnut: "Oh, we saw something." *to chicken* "You did, too, you little back-stabber. Tell them."

The chicken clucks, but you're the one to stop it this time.

Y/n: "Save it! You had your chance."

Ruffnut: "Okay, am I seeing things, or is the rational one here speaking to the chicken?"

Hiccup: "Yeah, Y/n, you, uh... you okay?"

Y/n: "Probably not. I think I hit my head too hard when I fell from the cliff."

Chicken: *clucks*

Y/n: "No, I am not doing that. That's terrible!"

Ruffnut: "Okay, I'm starting to think this whole thing is a bunch of stinky yak dung."

Tuffnut stands up to confront his sister.

Tuffnut: "You know what? First of all, yak dung, when made into a nice tea, can be quite aromatic."

Y/n: "He's right."

Ruffnut: "Agreed. But I still think you got Y/n's help to just scare everybody. There's no dragon out there."

Tuffnut: "Yeah, there is, Ruffnut. You willing to put your mutton where your mouth is?"

Ruffnut: "Oh-ho! You're not suggesting..."

Tuffnut: "Oh, I am. I'm suggesting like a hot Gronkle in a lava pit. And you know exactly what that means."

Hiccup: "What-what is going on between you two?"

Ruffnut: "Silence!"

Tuffnut: "I officially declare Thorston Challenge."

Hiccup & Y/n: "Thorston what?"

Ruffnut: "Accepted! Usual stakes?"

Tuffnut: "Of course."

Hiccup: "What stakes?"

Tuffnut: "It's better you don't know."

Tuffnut told Hiccup before he and his twin spit into their palms and shake hands.

Tuffnut: "Come on, Y/n! We got a challenge to win!"

Y/n: "Uh, alright, then."

You said as you finished your water and got back up to follow the twins away, with the chicken in tow. It clucks again.

Y/n: "No, I am not giving you my dagger!"

Hiccup watched the three of you and the chicken walk off. As he does, Fishlegs was fighting over a rock with Snotlout and Astrid who all bump into him. Toothless grunts.

Hiccup: "I know, bud. I'm losing it, too. Hey, guys! Wait up! How about a few impartial judges?!"

Hiccup said as he and Toothles followed after the three of you.

Hiccup: "For Thor's sake, take us with you!"

It was now late at night, and the four of you were now flying through the air. Toothless was on Toothless alone as you were riding behind Tuffnut, since you were on his side of the challenge. However, said twin had fallen asleep and was mumbling in his sleep about chicken-based foods as he held the actual chicken as a pillow while you were close to passing out as well. Tuffnut nearly falls off the Zippleback, but Hiccup was able to catch him and straighten him out since you were too tired to help.

Hiccup: "And that's where we should probabky call it a night."

Ruffnut: "Sure! Since we never found that quote-unquote yakdragon, make me winner of the Thorston Challenge and we'll be on our way!"

Hiccup: "Uh, okay, sure. Um, by the power, uh, vested in me, I hereby declare that Ruffnut is the-- WHOA!!"

Hiccup pulled Toothless back as a massive black dragon emerged from the forest below and flew above you and the other Riders. It roars as it flies overhead, waking Tuffnut from sleep as it snapped you from nearly falling asleep as well.

Hiccup: "I don't believe it..."

Ruffnut: "Me, neither. Tuffnut and Y/n win the Thorston Challenge!"

Y/n: "Haha! And I'm not even a Thorston!"

Tuffnut: "Yes! Told you! Now pay up."

Tuffnut said as he put his hands in his sister's face, only for Ruffnut to smack them away. They begin to fight, but you and Hiccup stop them.

Y/n: "Guys, stop! We gotta focus!"

Hiccup: "Look where it's headed! Straight for our campsite! If it catches those guys asleep on the ground..."

The twins and you all look at each other before nodding as Barf and Belch fly after the dragon. Hiccup calls out after you, but you three don't stop as the Zippleback races forward after the dragon. The chicken clucks, making Tuffnut pick him up as the two of you look at him. It clucks again, and you nod as Tuffnut sheds a tear.

Tuffnut & Y/n: "We forgive you, too."

Tuffnut put the chicken on top of his helmet as you stood up on the back of Barf and Belch, directly in between the twins. You pull out your daggers as the Zippleback charges.

Ruff, Tuff, & Y/n: "SEE YOU IN VALHALLA!"

The dragon turns around and roars at the approaching vikings and Zippleback, but it doesn't deter none of you as you charged straight for it. However, instead of a direct impact, you all just flew right through as the massive dragon exploded into a multitude of smaller ones.

Hiccup: "What in the name of--? It's not one big dragon, it's tons of little ones!"

Tuffnut and Ruffnut look at each other.

Ruff & Tuff: "If this is Valhalla, why are you here?"

You looked all around at the small dragons flying around.

Y/n: "If this is Valhalla, just kill me again."

Tuffnut: "Whoa, check that out!"

Tuffnut said as he pointed at a nearby flying dragon that looked like the others flying around. However, instead of being dark black it was a more noticeable white color. It lets out a screech and all the other black dragons begin to swarm it, forming back into the fake massive dragon from before.

Ruffnut: "They're joining back up around the white one!"

Hiccup: "It must be the leader! This is amazing."

Hiccup looked on in awe before Tuffnut, Ruffnut, and you charge back at the dragons again. He cries out in question, but none of you hear him as you charge forward. Barf and Belch fly through the grouped-up dragons again, and you open your arms wide to grab the white one. Once it was in your grasp, you clamped your arms tight around it and trapping it as it squirmed in your hold.

Y/n: "Hah! Gotcha, ya stupid lizard!"

Tuffnut: "Bam! Problem solved."

Y/n: "Now let's get back to camp! This thing is trying to claw my eyes out!"

The twins listen as they steer Barf and Belch back to camp. However, Hiccup and Toothless stayed behind for a moment as he watched the black dragons fly around without forming up together again like before.

Hiccup: "I've got a bad feeling about this..."

Back at camp, you threw the white dragon onto the ground, which was now trapped in a net. You took a step back, your face covered in scratch marks. You were pretty sure you were bleeding somewhere, too, but you decided to ignore it as the others huddled up to look at the dragon.

Fishlegs: "Amazing..."

Astrid: "It looks sort of like a Terrible Terror."

The dragon hisses and snarls.

Astrid: "But bigger and meaner."

Hiccup: "And it seems like they're nocturnal."

Snotlout walks up to them and he and Hiccup look at each other.

Hiccup: "You know, they come out at night--"

Snotlout: "Yeah, I knew that! Noc-a-turnal. I was gonna explain that to them."

Snotlout says as he motions towards the twins, who were running in circles with the chicken that now somehow got ahold of one of Y/n's daggers. Everyone then looked back at the dragon, which screeches in anger.

Fishlegs: "I say we call them... Night Terrors!"

Y/n: "Or I can just kill it and let the others all die out by themselves without a leader."

Hiccup: "Y/n..."

Y/n: "Fine, fine."

You said as you turned around to walk away. As he does that, the chicken jumps up and lands on Fishlegs' hands to crow at him.

Tuffnut: "Hey! Me and Y/n saw him first, so I get to name him."

The chicken clucks.

Tuffnut: "No! You always say that. Now, let's think about this logically. They come out at night and they're terrifying."

After a moment of "logical" thinking, Tuffnut got an idea.

Tuffnut: "I got it! Smidvard and the Gang!"

Tuffnut stands tall as he places his fist on either side of his hips, proud of himself for that one. However, everyone just looks at him as the chicken clucks again.

Hiccup: "And Night Terrors it is."

A roar echoes through the air, making everyone look up in confusion. Then the white Night Terror start squirming around and growling, which makes everyone look at him before back at the sky.

Astrid: "What's going on out there?"

Tuffnut: "I don't know, but whatever it is, Smidvard doesn't like it, and the Gang ain't payin' attention."

Hiccup: "Let's check it out. Y/n, with your the twins."

Y/n: "Got it."

You nodded and followed the twins to Barf and Belch. You hop on behind Tuffnut and the Zippleback takes off into the air, as does the other Riders and their dragons. All of you fly through the air to see what was roaring and making Smidvarg act up. Then that's when they see it.

Hiccup: "Changewings!"

A group of Changewings were circling around the leaderless Night Terrors, swatting at them and trying to attack. Toothless snarls at the sight.

Hiccup: "I know, bud. Not exactly a fair fight, is it? Let's even the odds a little."

Hiccup and Toothless rocket forward and the Night Fury fires a plasma blast at a Changewing that was about to catch a Night Terror. However, the dragon quickly goes invisible and Hiccup looks around before the Changewing decloaks right next to him. However, before it could attack, Stormfly shoots it and knocks it down.

Astrid: "No bullies on our island!"

Hookfang fires two fireballs at two separate Changewings, knocking them down as well.

Snotlout: "Yeah, you can't treat our dragons like that!"

Barf and Belch light another up with their gas and sparks, making Y/n laugh.

Ruffnut: "Only we can treat our dragons like that!"

Hiccup: "That should take care of them."

Hiccup said as everyone watches the Changewings fly off.

Y/n: "Yeah, but we got another problem!"

Everyone turns to see even more Changewings flying to the island. Hiccup pulls out a telescope and looks at them, only to watch as more decloak before his very eyes.

Hiccup: "Incoming!"

Astrid: "How many?"

Hiccup: "Too many!"

Fishlegs: "Why are they all coming here now?"

A Night Terror goes up to Hiccup's face and screeches at him before flying away. He then gets struck by realization.

Hiccup: "It must be the Night Terrors! When we captured the white one, they all split up."

Fishlegs: "Oh, of course! They flock into a shape of a giant version of themselves as a defense mechanism to scare of predators!"

Hiccup: "And now that they can't--"

Astrid: "They're lunch!"

Y/n: "And I'd usually be fine with that, but that would also mean that we're lunch!"

Hiccup: "Oh, I knew this was gonna be bad. We have to help them. I'll head back to the white Night Terror. He's their leader. You guys hold them off as long as you can."

With that, Hiccup and Toothless flew off back to the campsite to get the white Night Terror as you and the other Riders fly to confront the Changewings. Once Toothless landed back at the camp, Hiccup hopped off and ran over to the squirming Smidvarg. He takes the net off from the small dragon, letting him free as he gets up and screeches in Hiccup's face before flying off to the rest of his pack.

Hiccup: "Yeah, probabky deserved that."

The white Night Terror flies away, only for two Changewings to decloak and try to bite at it. Toothless growls at them before firing a plasma blast that knocks one down. However, he and Hiccup wouldn't be able to make it in time to save the Night Terror from the second one. But then a yell comes from above and you land on the Changewing's back, digging your daggers into the dragon which roars in pain as tears form in its wings from the daggers. You then hop back off and grab land on Barf and Belch's back as they light the Changewing up, sending it barreling towards the ground.

Tuffnut: "You leave our Smidvarg alone."

Hiccup: "Great job, you guys. Now, you cover Smidvarg from behind, Toothless and I will lead the way."

The twins smirked at Hiccup, and he realizes what he said before rolling his eyes.

Hiccup: "What? Okay, so the name's growing on me."

Back with the other Riders, they were making sure to keep the other Changewings busy. However, one-by-one they were knocked down from their dragons, starting with Astrid when a Changewing knocked her off of Stormfly. Then Fishlegs and Snotlout collided in midair when they got distracted, resulting in crashing into the ground. All of them got surrounded by the angry and hungry Changewings.

However, before anything could happen, the massive grouping of Night Terrors comes up from behind and roars at them. The Changewings all stare at the massive "singular" dragon and immediately ran off in fear, making everyone cheer in victory as you and the others arrive on the scene. You couldn't help but smile.

The next morning, you gathered with Hiccup and Astrid again. This time, however, you were all looking at a diagram of an outpost made by Hiccup.

Astrid: "What's this?"

Hiccup: "A diagram for our new outpost. I got the idea from Smidvarg."

The twins, Snotlout, and Fishlegs then walked up to hear what was going on.

Hiccup: "So, see, I combined all your ideas into one giant base. And I was thinking we could call it the Dragon's Edge. What do you guys think?"

You all looked at each other before turning back to Hiccup, nodding in agreement.

Hiccup: "Okay, I-I just need to point out that this is the first time that that has ever happened."

Y/n: "Don't get used to it."

Hiccup could only chuckle before he kneels down on the ground to point at the different sections of Dragon's Edge.

Hiccup: "Let's take a look. Everybody gets to make their section of Dragon's Edge whatever they want it to be. Astrid, you can make yours the most heavily-armed bedroom in the known viking world."

In Astrid's section of the outpost, Astrid guides Barf and Belch as they bring some boulders to where she wanted them to go.

Hiccup: "And Fishlegs, your place is quiet and secluded, overlooking the ocean. Very serene, very relaxing, with lots of room for your very own rock garden."

At Fishlegs' section, he was pulling some logs together to make his rock garden. Meatlug was helping him bring rocks in, which she threw inside the garden.

Hiccup: "Snotlout, your spot is up here. Now, it's not S-shaped, but you can go S-crazy and paint them all over it."

Snotlout: "Yeah, I can! Snotlout!"

Ruff & Tuff: "Boar pit! Boar pit! Boar pit!"

The twins chant as they pump their fists in the air up and down.

Hiccup: "Haha, glad you brought that up. There's a space for one right underneath your hut. Just do me a favor and lock up the boars once your done with them."

Ruffnut: "Aww!"

Tuffnut: "You do care! Boo-do-boo-do-do."

Hiccup: "We'll connect the different sections with bridges, zip-lines, and gangplanks. We'll have really cool stables with our own landing strip. And, of course, a dragon training arena. And in the center, overlooking everything else, will be the clubhouse. The eye of Dragon's Edge."

Y/n: "That's cool and all, but what about me? You got a place to put the medic?"

Hiccup: "I'm glad you asked, because I saved the best for last. Follow me."

Hiccup told you as he turned to mount Toothless. You just looked at him weirdly, but followed him nonetheless as you also mount Toothless. The Night Fury takes off, and you begin to question Hiccup.

Y/n: "Where are you taking me?"

Hiccup: "You'll see. And trust me, you'll love it."

You wanted to prod more, but decided not to. And soon, Hiccup steered Toothless back towards the ground, or more specifically a cliffside. Once you landed, Hiccup and you got off as the former took the lead.

Hiccup: "I handpicked for you a nice spot up here. Lots of space, you can make your own jungle-gym back on Berk if you want, and--"

Y/n: "And away from everyone else. Hiccup, if you're telling me I'm not one of you guys, that's completely--"

Hiccup: "What? No! I just wanted to show you the view."

Y/n: "View?"

Hiccup motioned for you to follow him, and you did so. This brought you to the cliffside, and you couldn't help but gasp a little at the sight. The view was absolutely spectacular and you could even see where the outpost was planned to be built down below.

Hiccup: "Best view on the island. This way, you'll be able to watch and keep track of everyone and everything. What do you think?"

Hiccup asked as he turned to you. However, you didn't respond. You just stood there speechless for a moment before you took a few steps forward and sat down near the cliff with your legs crossed. You didn't even look at Hiccup when you finally answered.

Y/n: "Thank you, Hiccup. This... means more to me than you know."

Hiccup was caught off-guard by this. He didn't exactly expect a heartfelt "thank you" from you, but he didn't expect this either. However, he still smiled anyway.

Hiccup: "You're welcome, Y/n."

Later that night, the Riders were all busy building the outpost with the bare bones being up.

Hiccup: "It's really taking shape. And now for one more addition to our new outpost... Tuff?"

Tuffnut wasn't paying attention at first as he was playing with the chicken. However, he realized that was his cue and cleared his throat before letting out a ridiculous dragon call through the air. Smidvarg immediately descends from the sky and lands on a wooden post, looking down on everyone else.

Hiccup: "If we're gonna share the island with them, I thought we should share the outpost, too."

Astrid: "You know Y/n isn't gonna like that."

Hiccup: "Ah, he'll get over it."

Fishlegs: "Speaking of which, where is he? I haven't seen him all day."

Hiccup: "He's been up there all day."

Hiccup said as he pointed up where Y/n's cliff was, making everyone look up to see a small figure in the distance sitting on the cliff.

Fishlegs: "And he hasn't moved at all?"

Tuffnut: "Ah, give the man a break. He's been working hard, and it's first time doing stuff like this."

Hiccup: "Besides, I have a feeling he needed this. Let's just let him be for now."

The Riders, except for Tuffnut, all looked at each other but just shrugged. They decided to listen and let you be by yourself on the cliff to relax.

Up on said cliff, you were indeed still sitting there with your legs crossed. A tear managed to escape your eye as you gazed forward, enjoying the view. You couldn't help but think of home.

Woo-hoo! Finally, the chapter is finished! I apologize for taking so long, the process took longer than I thought. But it's here now, so it doesn't matter.

What do you guys think so far? I really liked Y/n and Tuffnut's relationship this chapter. It was very fun for me seeing Y/n connect and hang out with more people than just Hiccup.

I plan on the twins being a big part of his character development, but who knows? Maybe I'll fuck up and not do that. Only time will tell and the show is six seasons long, so this will definitely take some time. I do plan on skipping some episodes that Y/n won't really need to be in, and even add a few of my own, so stay tuned, readers! Buh-bye!
