Painful Silence
Silence can cause people to go mad. It's like the world had stopped. Most people like others to talk, even if they aren't listening. The sound comforts you. It makes you think that theres still something there and you haven't just fallen into the oblivion called your mind.
But to me, silence is beautiful. People want to know that the world is still out there. I'm glad to think that it's gone. Why listen to the world of misery, insults, pain? That's all they ever gave you. But now, it's gone.
Silence. That's all I can hear. No names, no yells, no torture, no abuse. Nothing. You can't get pain by silence. There's nothing. The world that hurt me is gone. Forever Gone.
He wasn't sure how long, but the moon was already in the sky when he stopped. The tears now dry on his dirt-and-grassed covered tunic, he pulled himself from the fetal position on his bed. His eyes were red, but you wouldn't notice. His normally pale face was bright red due to the endless crying.
His room was silent. His house was silent. The village was silent. Right now it seemed that the entire archipelago was silent.
It was silent.
Nothing but silence.
Nothing.
But Hiccup knew the truth. The world is never silent. That's what it wants you to think. No one thinks that in the silence could be one boy dying.
Slowly.
Painfully.
Hiccup doesn't remember how long it was that he cried. Minutes? Hours? Days? He doesn't even remember when he layer down on his bed staring at the ceiling. However, he does remember something.
He remembered the silence.
The cruel taunting silence. Hiccup just wanted it to end. But after seconds became minutes, he begged for more. The silence let him be as long as he let it be. He took slow breaths.
He knew first-hand that there was more to silence.
It was there for him now unlike anyone else.
He laid there on his bed listening to his breaths.
He listened to the silence.
The Painful Silence.
