Chapter Fifty-Five
Stampy had to leave; Squid called him saying he had an emergency. He ran to the house after saying goodbye and leaving the hospital. He ran inside the house, where Squid was frantically looking around. "Squid! What's wrong!?" He exclaimed. Squid looked to him and gasped, running over. "Stampy! Hit came over and tried to take your dogs! I-I tried to fight him!" He said. Stampy gaped at him. "What happened!?"
One Hour Earlier
Squid was minding his own business, walking around Stampy's Lovely World and being the happy Squidoodle he is. He looked around, finally coming across Stampy's DogHouse. He went inside, checking on the lil puppo's, when he saw HTT. He gasped and pulled his sword, shocked of course. Hit looked over and scoffed, pulling his own sword. "I took out one, I can take out you." He hissed. Squid glared. "News flash, he's still alive!" He said.
Hit rolled his eyes. "Whatever!" He growled and lunged at him. Squid pushed him away, attempting to free the dogs from the cages, but it was no use. He moved out of the way just in time, as Hit stabbed the wall. Squid gasped and ran to the front of the Dog House, trying to lead Hit outside, but Hit isn't stupid. He pushed Squid outside and locked the door.
Squid gaped at him threw the window of the door, where Hit just laughed and continued with his plan. Squid tried to break the door with his body, but that didn't work. So he grabbed his iron axe and broke down the door. He grabbed his sword next and tried to jab Hit, but it didn't work once again. He was quick on his feet to avoid all of Hit's attacks, finally landing one on the villain, which made him decide to leave.
Squid panted and growled, looking over at the cages. He got most of them open, counting the poor pups, but one was missing. Barnaby. He gulped and told them to stay, but they only tilted their heads in confusion. Squid ran outside, looking around for a lost dog. He didn't find one. He bit his lip, or, he would've.
He searched around the house, then called Stampy urgently before continuing the desperate search that only ended up pointless.
Back to Now
Stampy's eyes were wide as he listened to the story, nodding along. He growled at the floor, then looked up at Squid. "We've got to find Hit." He hissed threw clenched teeth. "He's done too much to be forgiven now." He said. Squid nodded. "I agree." He nodded. The two set off, trying to find a trace of the antagonist, but it was hopeless. They knew they couldn't stay out too late, but it must of fled their mind; it became dark.
Stampy suddenly gasped and grabbed Squid's arm, running in the direction of the house. "Stamps! What's wrong!?" He exclaimed. "I forgot about Lee!" He exclaimed. Squid gaped at him. "Oh my Notch, you're right!" They ran to the hospital, but they wouldn't let them go into the room. "What do you mean we can't see him!?" Stampy exclaimed. The nurse sighed.
"Only family is allowed to see him beyond this point." She said. Stampy huffed. "We are his family." He said. Squid looked away. Stampy bit his lip. "Well...we're the closest he has." He said. The Nurse shook her head. "It must be blood related." She said. "But he doesn't have any!" He said. "Well then, no one can see him." She said, then left. Stampy was left baffled, and a little angry.
He huffed and sat in the waiting room. Squid sat next to him, looking at him. "He'll be fine." He assured. "What if he isn't? They first told me he probably won't make it, now they say I can't see him! He...I'm afraid he's gonna die..." He said, looking away and biting his lip. "They're probably just doing some tests, no big deal." Squid said, truly to keep Stampy calm. Stampy nodded, closing his eyes and trying not to cry. Squid looked at him confusedly. "Stamps? What's wrong?"
"I just...when the nurse said that only family could see him, it made me realize that Lee never actually knew his parents. And that just makes me really sad to think about." He said. Squid sighed and wrapped an arm around Stampy's shoulder. "You've been more then a parent to him, Stamps. He knows that, I know that. You should know that. You're like a mom and a dad all in one." Squid chuckled, making Stampy smiled a little. "Heh...th-thanks, Squid." He said. Squid smiled and nodded. "No problem!"
They waited for what seemed like an eternity before they were finally let in. Squid stayed for a while before having to go back, leaving Stampy with Lee. They were just chatting again, pushing aside the fact that death was creeping around the corner for our favorite bear. Stampy smiled and laughed, and so did Lee. They were having a good time, even when night fell. The two were sitting next to each other. Stampy was in the visitor's chair while Lee was laying down, half asleep. They were holding hands adorably, since that's adorable. Lee held Stampy's hand close to his heart all of the sudden and looked up at him. "I know I probably won't make it, Stamps." He said weakly, his eyes looking dull and less blue then they were before.
Stampy blinked once at him in shock. "H-Huh? What do you mean? Of course you will, Lee Bear!" Stampy said nervously, squeezing Lee's paw. Lee smiled weakly. "I heard you and the nurse by accident, but I'm not scared..." He said, closing his eyes and keeping Stampy's paw to his heart. Stampy's eyes were filled with tears, but he blinked them away and bit his lip.
