I shouldn't have eaten this much. I swear I will never ever eat kebab after a heavy dinner but you can't blame me for eating those kebabs, its totally my father's fault he brought it.
I admit that those kebabs wasn't for me and I still ate more than half of the portion.
" Grr. . . " I groaned, rubbing my belly.
" You shouldn't have eaten that much, Nina. " my brother scolded me as he walked beside me.
I don't want him to start his lecture now when I'm not in the mood. To avoid him I speed up my walk and he did the same.
" Not my fault. " I said, still rubbing my belly.
I am the first child but always feels like the youngest member of my family. This boy beside me is a year younger than me but lectures like me like he is the grandpa of the family.
" Huff. . . . ? " I huffed, already tired of walking.
" Tired? " he asked.
" Not even five minutes passed and you are already tired. " he snorted.
I rolled my eyes at his comment and he kept on babbling about how out of shape I am but do I care?
Nope, absolutely not.
What do you expect from a person like me? I just love food more than anything in the world.
What's the problem in it?
As I glanced around me, the only thing I could see from the terrace of my house were trees, trees and some more trees.
We used to live in a crowded and noisy town, then suddenly one day my father had enough of it and decided to move here, a small village situated in the middle of a forest.
Walking around alone outside your houses at night was a sin here. Reason? I don't know.
People are really weird here.
We just shifted here just two months ago and I already hate this place. Not the place actually, I love the greenery and seriously love it how silent it is as compared to my previous residence.
Why I hate this village is because whenever I step my foot outside my house, people stop their works only to gawk at me. None speaks to me, they all just stares which is really frustrating.
I kind of understands why they give those stares, most of the population here consists of old people and some teenage boys and there's no girl in the same age group as me but it still explains why they have to stare at me like I have a huge diamond rock stuck on my head.
I stomped my feet on the floor, irritated. Because of the unknown reason I am not allowed to go out.
It doesn't bother me much, I don't like to go out especially at night. Good thing we have the upper part of our house open otherwise I don't know how I would have survived.
I am walking round-round on my terrace so that the food I ate could be digested.
" I swear I will never overeat from now onwards. " I announced.
My brother snickered and started laughing, I narrowed my eyes at him and smacked his arm tightly.
" You said the same thing yesterday. . ! " he spoke still laughing like my slap didn't affect him.
Tears appeared on the sides of his eyes due to his ha-ha session, I rolled my eyes at him.
Its night and there are no lights here, the reason why our faces aren't touching the floor is only because of the moon above us.
Hmm?
As I stared up, admiring the full moon from the corner of my eye I caught my brother tensing up beside me.
" What happened? " I asked him in concern.
He bows frowned and he stopped dead in his place, no longer walking along with me.
Seeing him stop, I halted my steps as well. His eyes moved here and there and then settled on me.
" Can you hear these sounds? " he asked as he moved his behind me, starring the dark forest.
I focused a bit on my hearing and sure enough I could hear faint howls coming from the dark and green forest. Great, now we have wolves here too.
This increase my hate for this village.
Just a few days ago, an early morning I suddenly woke up, I wanted to fell asleep again but I couldn't. So, I decided to walk out of the house to greet the sun but I stepped outside my house and took a few steps out, there I saw foot prints which were twelve inches long.
I jumped at my discovery, I thought I had found the big foot but then again my luck is never there with me. It turned out to be some wild animal's paw prints who walked on four legs and loved to eat flowers.
Yes, he destroyed my garden.
That day I made a bet with my brother that we won't survive more than a few weeks before we are eaten by some huge big foot.
And now, we can hear wolves howling, preparing to make us their meal.
" Told ya, that day isn't far away when we will be eaten raw by some wild animals. " I spoke, rolling my eyes.
Shaking my head lightly I resumed my walk.
" Ahh. . . .? don't we should go down. " my baby brother said hesitantly.
" Why? Are you scared? " I asked, chuckling.
" What! No! I-I thought you would be scared. " he said trying his best to cover up scared self.
" Dear, digesting my food is more important than getting scared over some wolves who don't even know we are here. " I said, swinging my arms up and down trying to fly.
" I heard wolves has an excellent eyesight, they can see perfectly in dark " he said in a low voice, scared as if they can hear us.
" Next you will say they have amazing hearing skills and they can hear even a small voice like. . . . . . burp! " I burped loudly.
Finally. . . . .I feel much better now.
" Don't make such noices! " he warned, scared.
" That was natural, I don't have any control over it. " I raised my hands up, shaking my head as I laughed at my brother who looked ready to pee in his pants.
" haa. .aa . . .oo. . . . haa-ha. . aoo. . "
There we heard more howls. The only difference between the howls before and in this one was that this howl sounded much closer.
The glanced at him and he at me.
" I. .I think we should go back down. . . " I suggested lowly.
A sudden shiver ran down my spine when I heard growling instead of howling and this time I could hear them loud and clear as if the wolves were just behind me.
" N-N-Nina. . " my brother stumbled over his words, his wide eyes staring behind me.
He shakily started taking back taking back steps.
" Timy. . .? "
I called him and then I heard it.
" Grroo. . . . "
The growling from behind.
It can't be, I don't want to die young.
Really slowly I moved y neck to look behind me only to see two red orbs staring right into my own.
I gulped down the saliva in my throat which seemed to have been stuck there.
The red orbs sparkled as I stared into them.
