Chapter Four: Zero Brainstorm

Zero Brainstorm

Rewind (6 days back)

Rats crawled around the dark dungeon haunting for food, bats flew way up high in the night sky, entering her cell by the only hole that spared Maira moon light, as creepy shadows lurked around the walls that closed her in.

"I'm so going to get killed," she sighed to herself, sitting on the floor, exhausted.

Crack Crack Crack

"What was that?!" Maira panicked. What could've made such a sound, she thought.

"Maybe it's the rats doing their usual thing," she said to herself, stretching her sore legs.

"Don't underestimate yourself child," someone said from the deep corner of her cell, a part she couldn't clearly see. It wasn't in her eye perimeter.

Shivers sidled through Maira's body like the way a tiger would sneak on his prey. She was downright freaked out by the shadow that had just moved its lips.

"A shadow that talks? I must be loosing my mind in this blackness," she said, laughing feverishly. "Or maybe it's because I only get fed once a day with a glass of water," Maira said, thinking out loud.

"You're only going to get killed if you keep doubting yourself," the shadow said, approaching her closely, until she saw an old lady come out of the dark.

"Who are you?" Maira asked, calmly.

"I'm a rotting corpse, like yourself- Well, you'll be one soon," the old lady said, giggling with her yellow shaky teeth in sight.

Maira made a nervous scared face and tried to her best to hide it.

Didn't work.

"I'm just kidding, youngsters these days," she said, removing the shackles from Maira's feet with the key. "Now you're free- but not totally!!"

"Thank you, but how did you get into my cell? Who are you? Why are you helping me? Or were you sent?" Maira questioned.

"So many questions," the old lady said poking her walking stick on Maira.

"Ow, stop that," she said, gently pushing her away. "You're just a forgotten prisoner."

"Maybe..." the old lady said, having a seat in front of Maira.

"How'd you survive all this time without food and water?"

"Rat meat- and I'll drink their blood as water, occasionally though,"

"Okay, you're freaking me out!" Maira said, standing up, heading for the only way out.

"Where are you going to go? There are guards waiting for you behind that door," the old lady said in a know-it-all voice.

"Who are you really? I couldn't smell or detect you before. As a wolf, I should've noticed all that before you made a sound. Heck! I should've heard you breathing."

"I'm a rotten prisoner like yourself, but perhaps, with a little cooperation, we could be more," she said, moving her fingers around aimlessly.

"I'm listening," Maira replied, curious if anything, deciding to be patient and in time, she'll get her answers.

"300 miles away from here, there is a grotto. In there you'll find a map that lead you to a safe place," the old lady said, grabbing Maira by the shirt. "Far away from all this trouble, a place where you'll be accepted no matter where you come from." she said, as spit drooled down her mouth.

"Why would you even tell me that, when we're both trap in here?" Maira said, backing away.

"Ah ah aaah," she said, moving her finger left & right, heading towards the deep corner of the cell which she had emerged from, as Maira followed close behind.

"Things aren't always what they seem," the old lady said, in a low raspy voice. She then used her walking stick to slide open a couple bricks which revealed an escape to the outside world.

"What's the catch to you helping me?" the young female warrior asked, crossing her arms.

"Your freedom, and you getting to that grotto, and doing exactly what I told you to do," she answered with a wicked smile.

"What about your freedom?"

Maira was really nervous, something seemed off about this old lady.

"Doesn't matter," she said shrugging her shoulders. "Besides, I'll have to stay behind to take your place in the execution."

"They'll know it's not me, I'll be branded a rogue and my family will never really know what happen to me! I can't just leave!" Maira complained, stressing about all that's happen so far.

"Do we have a deal or not?" the old woman said, handing out her hand to Maira.

"I don't know, I mean we could at least brainstorm," she said, hesitantly.

Suspiciously, the weird lady walked her way behind Maira, and suddenly- pushed her out of the cell, "Keep traveling west! You'll thank me later!"

Out of her own free will, Maira was thrown right into the desert's mouth- yes there's a desert beyond the dungeon walls, it's Earth territory, Earth pack.

3 days before THE day (PRESENT)

"Why would you make such a reckless decision?!" Amira yelled, at her one true love.

Lamine had made a choice, late at night, to be a hero by breaking Maira out of the local dungeon.

All on his own.

Unfortunately for him, Arcadius randomly caught him while he was on his way to make the worst decision of his life.

Lamine slept the night over at Arcadius and Amira joined them when morning came by.

"I don't know, I panicked," Lamine responded, looking away, "There's only 3 days left before they kill my baby girl. Amira!" He said, grabbing her hands roughly, but lovingly.

"Our baby girl, my love," Amira said, pushing herself closer to him on the living room couch.

"You and Arcadius didn't even try to come up with ideas to free Maira," Lamine said, staring both of them in the eye, hard.

"Yeah we didn't, but it's a no brainer," Arcadius nonchalantly said. "Plan A, the most obvious, negotiate with our Alpha,"

"Okay, I say for plan B, we should do a riot. We convince everyone, mainly our friends," Amira said making a duh face, "about how our daughter is innocent and shouldn't be executed," Amira suggested.

"And I say our plan C is breaking her out of there if A&B fails!" Lamine said, dead serious.

"Darling, that should really be our last option-"

"No, he's right." Arcadius interrupted.

"I'm what now?!" Lamine was sure they wouldn't have consider his idea, especially him.

"You're right, but if you don't mind, I'll tweak your idea a little,"

"We're listening," Amira replied.

"The day of the execution, they'll let only her family members speak to her, to say any last words they have to say before she departs our world,"

"Okay?"

"After the goodbyes, they'll put Maira back in her cell before her public execution."

"The worst part of this whole thing is that her execution is public, its not even private," Amira said, sobbing.

Lamine hugged her tightly, whispered calming words into her ear and placed a kiss on her forehead.

"Arcadius just get to your point!" he said, frustrated.

"Amira or you, will have to choose which one of you will tell her about the escape plan during the goodbyes and who'll escape with her."

"That's me for sure," Lamine said, wiping his beloved tears away.

"Farhad will need a male figure to guide him during his training when he gets older, to teach him the ways of a wolf. I can't be the one to do that, you have-"

"No, he'll have Arcadius for that and he'll still have his mother. Dyna, Azra and Samia will also be needing you, more than me," he said, convincing his mate.

"I love you," Amira said, hugging Lamine as Arcadius watch them have a moment.

"I'll be there for Maira and let her know what a great family she has, a great mother," he said, patting her hair. "And I would never let you take the title of a rogue while I'm alive," Lamine said, taking her out of his embrace.

Amira wanted to kiss him with all the compassion she could find inside of her but Arcadius was here.

"Okay... so we'll start with plan A today, plan B tomorrow and plan C on the day of the execution," Arcadius said, opening the front door to lead Amira and Lamine out.

"And for plan A, it's best me and Amira go, because you're already late for work. Amira you have the night shifts for today right?" Arcadius asked.

"Yes, I do. Alright then let's go together," she said, wearing an optimistic smile on her face, "and I'll see you later," Amira said placing a peck on her mate's lips.

"Good luck with plan A," Lamine said heading to work.

"Thank you darling! Zero brainstorm was needed, we didn't even stress this out," she pointed out.
