The Lonely Star
I've been at my new home for a while. Apparently everybody of my new family had to be somewhere. Even Diana had somewhere to be. I've been alone for a while. I guess old habits die hard. I just continue to paint I started and finished my moonrise. I painted my forest. The walls were completed in a couple of days. I probably spent like 1000 hours on it.
I started to mark my desk with pencil marks all day. I'm going to draw the picture of the side view forest with my wolf and owl and the moon light.
The last pencil mark went down and my first paint strokes made contact with the desk. About a half an hour, I stop. Painting this much isn't healthy. I wished that wolf didn't leave me. She hasn't spoken, but I can tell she was still in there.
Hello?
Silence.
Each day passed slowly than the last. Was this what a family was like? Never together for dinner. Never for each other's birthdays. I'm worried. Mines coming in a couple of weeks.
I don't want to be forgotten. I never really had a birthday celebrated with a family. I didn't want my first time to be ruin, but I shouldn't pout. They have been nothing but kind to me.
I took a shower. Might as well go to the park. The walk seemed it took forever. It's was probably because I was alone. I sat down on the swing and watch all the kids play. Some were playing frisbee, soccer, basketball, or volleyball.
I never really played those games at the orphanage. We played lots of card games. You didn't really need friends to do that. We had two t.v.s for fifty kids.
I never got to watch my shows unless everyone else was hanging out with their friends outside.
It doesn't matter now. Sitting on the swing I got bored. I was wearing shorts and a long sleeve shirt. I had tennis shoes on my feet. A run won't hurt.
I was a fast runner. No idea how though. I ran along this path and ran out of the neighborhood.
I should have left a note. It's been about twenty minutes of running. My lungs were sore. Might as well turn around.
Snap!
I looked to the right. Houses. I look to the left. The woods. The forest.
It's just a small animal Cassandra. No reason to be afraid. I started to move closer. It growled. I don't think small animals growl.
Do foxes growl? I really should start paying attention in school. When I'm I going to start school? Did this family buy me to lock me up?
Dude. There was this kid that got adopted. A week later he was found killed. Wrong people. The orphanage stated in the newspaper that they could only check the records they brought in. Based off those, they were good people.
Growl.
I snapped back into reality. Do I run? Do I make myself look big? Do I scare it away? Do I growl back?
Is that why everyone growls?
I slowly walked back on to the path. Not turning the other way. I quickly started to walk backwards. When I was at a safe distance I ran for my life.
The park came in view. I saw Diana playing on the playground.
"Cassandra! Catch me!"
I continue to ran over to her.
"You can't get on the playground. We're playing lava monster."
I played with Diana and I saw Annabel and Nick. They were talking with some boys I haven't meet yet.
After a couple minutes later. Diana yelled I won. It was pretty unfair. She just stood on a high place that I couldn't reach.
I'm not the tallest person. I can't jump high. The only athlete thing in good at is running. Diana ran over to me and gave me a hug. I hugged her back.
Annabel came over to me after those boys left and gave me a hug.
"I was so worried. You weren't at the house."
"Sorry. I only planned on going to the park, but then I went for a run. I should have left a note."
"We are think of having a family night tonight. We are going to watch a movie. You invited of course."
"I love to come."
Jerrold came to the park later. We sat on the picnic bench. We talked about our days. There wasn't much to talk about. I guess I could bring up fuzzy eyes.
"Um... Jerrold? Can I ask you a question?"
"Sure. What is it?"
"Um... People eyes go fuzzy here. I actually Madam Devil's eyes did that too. But why? Do you know?"
He looked shocked. He just started at me.
"Sorry if that was a too personal question..."
He shook his head. "No it's fine. I'll ask mom if I can tell you."
"Ok..."
We all sat in the living room. Popcorn was made. Drinks were ready in their plastic cups. The couch was comfortable.
We watch Dolphin Tail. We were half way through the movie. Matt, Mike, and Calvin came up.
"You started it without us!" I could tell it was Matt. They joined us on the couch and I ended up beside Annabel and Calvin.
There something about Calvin that bothers me. He always tries to be near me. It was pretty weird. Our bodies made contact. I jumped a little. Sparks came through my body the whole movie.
I felt... safe. The sparks didn't hurt. We finished watching the movie and I feel my eye lids dropping.
"I'm going to go to bed..." I stood up and made my way to my room. People said good night and I waved back. My hair was a mess and I missed some paint. I lied down in my bed and drifted off. I will do a fourth of my desk. Then I'm going to have to go to the store with my money and buy some spry paint.
