It was now Friday and Jennifer was spending the day with Vic, Andy and Maya from station 19. They were also going to be meeting the rest of the team in the evening at the bar across from the hospital, Jennifer never remembered the name but she had been once or twice with Meredith.
"What do you have planned today?" Meredith asked Jennifer who was making herself a tea as well as a coffee for Amelia who was just getting ready for work.
"Do you want a coffee?" Jennifer asked before she answered Meredith's question
"Please" Meredith responded with a smile.
"And I'm spending it with Andy, Vic and Maya from the station. We're meeting the guys tonight at the bar" Jennifer, one reason she agreed to spend the day with the three women was because she was actually thinking of moving to Seattle permanently.
"Mer, what would you say if I told you that I really am serious about thinking of moving back to Seattle permanently? The last week I've felt much happier and more at home than Chicago has been since Abby" Jennifer said as she made a coffee for Meredith.
"I would tell you that it's completely your choice. Of course i would be happy to get to
See you more often and so would the kids but it would really be your choice. If you want to move back then Abby's room is yours until you find your own place." Meredith informed Jennifer who sipped her tea.
"I will have to go back to Chicago hand my notice in and work the notice, I'd have to find a job here but it's something I really do think I want" Jennifer said fiddling with her cup.
"You know what the kids asked when I took them out?" Jennifer asked biting her lip.
"What?" Meredith asked
"If I could take them to Chicago to visit 51. They wanted to see where Abby worked. But if I figure out when my last shift would be, maybe you could fly out with them, bring them by and they could meet everyone and then I can fly back here with you all?" Jennifer spoke as she bit her lip gently.
"That would be great for the kids. As long as you won't get in trouble for that" Meredith responded to the redhead in front of her, Jennifer smiled as she thought at how worried Meredith was of her.
"It's fine honestly. Chief Boden lets kids visit, Herrmanns kids have visited before, his own son comes by. Plus everyone wants to meet Zola, Bailey and Ellis so I'm sure they would love a visit before I leave Chicago to move to Seattle permanently" Jennifer said handing Meredith her coffee which she had just finished making.
"I may even manage to persuade Casey to let them sit in the truck" Jennifer smiled happily.
"If your sure we can definitely organise it all" Meredith agreed.
Jennifer climbed out of the taxi as she arrived at Maya Bishop's apartment block. The drive to the apartment was longer than Jennifer would have liked but she spent it apartment searching, she wanted to get on with things before she gets overwhelmed with all the moving details.
"Oh that's a nice one" Jennifer said as she scrolled through the pictures of the apartment. All of a sudden Jennifer realised she didn't remember which apartment was Maya's.
"I should have wrote down the apartment number" Jennifer mumbled to herself, she swiped out of the search bar and clicked contacts before she scrolled down to find Maya's number. She clicked the call button and fiddled with her sleeves while waiting for the blonde firefighter to answer the phone.
"Hey Maya! I know I should have wrote down your apartment number but I'm currently stood outside the building and I am so unsure what number your apartment is" Jennifer spoke as soon as Maya answered the phone
"I'll come down meet you. Your the first to arrive" Maya told the redhead who smiled to herself, she didn't know what it was about Maya but something was different, she had never really believed in love at first sight let alone falling for someone in a completely different state to where she lived but if she truely thought about it soon they would live in the same state, maybe not soon but still, she'd be living in Seattle again by the end of the year.
"Okay, see you in a few" Jennifer responded and eventually slipped her phone back into her jeans pocket. Jennifer ran a hand through her hair as she waited for Maya to come down.
"I think I've fallen hard" Jennifer mumbled to herself as she found herself thinking about Maya once again. She remembered her first crush on a girl, she was in high school and the girl she liked had blonde hair with royal blue streaks in her hair, her eyes were a beautiful green and Jennifer often found herself daydreaming about the girl. Antonia Joanne Watson was her name but she was straight, she made that clear by outing her in front of the entire grade. Jennifer shook herself out of the thoughts and smiled when she saw Maya.
"Thank you for inviting me over today. I would probably be wallowing in self-pity if didn't do anything today. It's nice to know I've got friends here" Jennifer smiled as she thanked the blonde for the invite.
"You're part of our family now Jennifer, you don't have to do anything alone" Maya smiled to the redhead who couldn't help but smile again.
"I always try to do thinks by myself but wallowing in self-pity isn't the way. I don't think Abby would want me to do that" Jennifer shrugged as she then followed the blonde back into the building.
"What have you been doing since Monday then?" Maya asked Jennifer as they enter the apartment.
"I decided I wanted to move back to Seattle again so I've been planning bits and pieces of that, took Zola, Bailey and Ellis out for the day. Getting in my own head too. You know, the usually stuff" Jennifer laughter lightly.
"Your moving back to Seattle?" Maya asked secretly really happy about the fact the redhead is moving to Seattle, she may not be the type to settle down but Maya saw herself doing exactly that with Jennifer Halstead
"Yeah. I have to go back to Chicago for a bit it. Settle everything back there. Say a proper goodbye to my brothers, my friends but I know for sure that by the end of the year I'll be back in Seattle. Got to sort a lot out this end I guess" Jennifer smiled. The thought of moving to Seattle made her happy, she'd get to see her nieces and nephew a lot more, see Meredith more. She liked that idea, Abby was basically her sister which made Meredith & the kids her family too.
"What do you need to sort this end? Tea, coffee?" Maya asked curiously as she offered the redhead a drink as well.
"Yea please" Jennifer answered before she paused.
"And I need to sort Somewhere to live, a job. Honestly I'm not actually sure what else but they are the main things I need to sort. I know Meredith has said I can stay at hers as long as i need but honestly it's hard, I'm staying in what was Abby's room" Jennifer admitted, it was the first time she admitted that but it felt nice to finally get that off her chest.
"Don't forget that Andy said she'd put a good word in for you to work at 19. You proved to can work well with us on Monday" Maya said as their was a knock at the door.
"I'll get that for you" Jennifer smiled
"Thanks Jen" Maya answered smiling.
"I know what Andy said though but isn't that cheating?" Jennifer asked as she opened the door to see Andy and Vic.
"What's cheating?" The two woman asked simultaneously
"Oh nothing" Jennifer dismissed the conversation
"Jen is moving to Seattle and she said she needs to sort things out both here and in Chicago. One of those things is a job so I reminded her that Andy said she would put in a good word but Jen think it's cheating" Maya spills everything.
"Thanks Maya" Jennifer said rolling her eyes.
"It wouldn't be cheating. I'd happily give a good recommendation. I'd even push to have you at 19" Andy said.
"I don't know. Shouldn't I try and do it myself. Of course I'd love to get to work with you all" Jennifer said.
"I'm not taking no for an answer. We need you at 19. Look at what you did Monday, you saved a little girl by jumping through a glass window. That was pretty badass" Andy smirked lightly.
"Okay. I guess you can try. I still need to hand my notice in back in Chicago and a lot, but I hope to be in Seattle permanently by the end of the year." Jennifer told the woman.
"We will help you with the house search. And I'm sure we can pull the guys into helping with any furniture that will need building" Vic said excitedly, it made Jennifer laugh lightly.
"You guys can help with all that but give it a little while before that. I've found an apartment I like the look off but theirs no point looking just yet, it might not even be available when I am set to move" Jennifer shrugged.
"Plus I think my brothers would want to come and help me move in. Let's just say they are abit protective" Jennifer admitted. They were protective both of them but Jennifer still loved her brothers, she always would love them.
"They can help. But we are definitely helping too" Vic said enthusiastically which made Jennifer laugh. She hadn't laughed so much since Abby and for the first time since then she hadn't been thinking about Abby, she had been thinking about making new memories with her new friends.
"Do I not have a say in this?" Jennifer laughed already guessing that she didn't buy she didn't really mind, Maya, Andy and Vic were already three of her new friends as well as everyone at 19 and Amelia who has said that Jennifer is now her sister too even though Jennifer isn't actually Meredith's sister.
"No. We're family now. We're helping you with everything you need" Andy smiled truthfully which made Jennifer's heart swell, she didn't expect to be treated like family so quickly.
"Now changing subjects. I told my dad about you and your time with us Monday and he thinks you'd be a perfect fit at 19. He chose everyone himself. He might be able to pull some strings for me and actually get you a place with us" Andy said telling Jennifer about her dad. Jennifer had heard stories about Pruitt Herrera mostly when she was working with the team on Monday, she heard he had been diagnosed with cancer but he still visits the station, but Jennifer didn't know if it was right to bring him up to Andy, she didn't know how their relationship was or if he was going to make it through the fight.
"Now that might be going abit too far. I couldn't ask you to do that Andy" Jennifer said anxiously.
"You didn't ask me to do it. I suggested it, and I'm going to do it." Andy practically demands making Jennifer let out a small laugh but she ends up agreeing.
The four woman headed to Joes bar to meet Travis, Dean, Ben and Jack at around 7:30pm. The four of them had already been drinking before they left so they got a taxi to the bar. Jennifer was tipsy to say the least but she was happy.
"What's everyone drinking. I'm buying" Jennifer beamed as she leant against the bar talking to the other seven firefighters. Everyone said their orders and Maya helped Jennifer after she brought the drinks and took them to the table.
"Guys Jennifer is moving to Seattle!" Vic soon announced once the drinks had been delivered by Jennifer and Maya. Jennifer rolled her eyes with a small smile.
"I am but it might not be soon, I still have things to do back in Chicago" Jennifer reminded. Jennifer sipped her vodka and coke as she listens to everyone saying they hope they get to see her more often when she moves, she is genuinely happy.
Maya catches Jennifer's eyes every now and then, she finds herself lost in the redheads eyes, Jennifer doing the same every now and then. Whenever Jennifer speaks Maya finds herself watching her lips and every little movement Jennifer does she seems to be in a trance. All Jennifer could think about Maya, how soft her lips must feel, they looked it to Jennifer anyway.
A few hours later and Jennifer was well and truly wasted. She was letting her hair down and having such a good time with her new friends when one of her favourite songs came through the speaker, '22' by Taylor Swift was always a song that got both Jennifer and Abby dancing and secretly Maya loved the song too, she even went far enough to call herself a 'Swiftie'
"Come dance with me!" Jennifer giggled grabbing hold of maya's hand and pulled her over to a empty space in the bar, just like she would do with Abby, she was clearly drunk and Maya was tipsy to say the least but still she let the redhead drag her along letting a small laugh she knew her that she wasn't one to get into a serious relationship but that didn't mean she couldn't have some fun. Jennifer was dancing happily.
"Don't let her dance on the table!" Travis warned Maya as he remembered the stories he had heard from Meredith and her friends back in Chicago, but it was too late. Jennifer was already trying to pull Maya into the table who just pulled the redhead back down. Out of nowhere Jennifer kissed Maya, it was a drunken kiss but neither woman could deny the fact they felt and saw fireworks as their lips connected. Jennifer quickly threw herself apart from Maya when she realised what she had just done and practically ran into the toilets, the effects of the alcohol were still their and as soon as she got to the bathroom she couldn't focus on anything, the room was spinning, Jennifer knew it wouldn't last long, she had just ran and when she's drunk she should never run, she knows that.
"I'm sorry! I shouldn't have kissed you" Jennifer blurted out when she saw Maya had entered the toilets.
"I kissed you too. Remember. I wouldn't have done so if I didn't want you to kiss me" Maya smirked. Both woman wanted to be close to one another.
"I'm drunk. I'm a mess" Jennifer giggled running a hand through her hair.
"Do you want to get out of here?" Maya asked as she stepped closer to the redhead who smiled to herself as she stepped closer to Maya too.
"Yeah. I think I've had enough to drink. I know something else I would like to do anyway" Jennifer smirked, Maya knew exactly what Jennifer was implying and she wasn't opposed to the idea of spending the night with Jennifer.
Jennifer and Maya had only just made it into Maya's apartment when they began ripping each others clothes off. Being together things felt right, neither of them wanted to be apart from on another. Although Jennifer was well and truely hammered she still knew ahead of time wanted this, she still knew she wanted to be with Maya.
Maya thought that Jennifer could change her thoughts on monogamy, she had always thought it was for the weak but Jennifer was different, Maya felt things she had never truely felt before with the redhead. The two woman explored each others bodies, their hands finding themselves at home with each other, they were sure the neighbours would hear them but neither woman were thinking of being quite.
"Wow!" Jennifer said as she collapsed onto her back once the two had finished.
"Good wow, or bad wow?" Maya asked propping herself up into her elbow.
"Good... definitely good" Jennifer said gently panting as she tried to catch her breath. The two of them were off again, completely unaware that Andy had arrived back and could hear the two of them.
"Mmmm" Jennifer moaned unable to fully form words.
"Tell me what you want" Maya said planting small kisses down Jennifer's chest.
"Y.you, I want you" Jennifer moaned softly.
"As you wish" Maya smirked planting small kisses to her breasts before taking her nipple in her mouth gently biting and sucking on the redhead, she then moved lower before her head was between the redheads legs. Jennifer's back arched as Maya pleasured her. Once again they both collapsed onto the bed, gently panting, they both gazed at each other, anyone could see that they clearly were happy, the wide smiles on both of their faces. Eventually both woman fell asleep in each others arms, their legs tangled up with one another and smiles on both of their faces.
