May 18, 2024 # "You Are The Sun."
SATURDAY FINALLY CAME, meaning Solana and Thalia met up at a charming café tucked away in a quaint corner of Monte Carlo. The aroma of freshly brewed coffee and the chatter of other customers filled the air as they were settling into a cozy booth, bathed in warm sunlight streaming through the window beside them.
"It's good to see you my sweet lady." Thalia greeted with a radiant smile, reaching across the table to squeeze Solana's hand affectionately.
Solana returned the expression, feeling grateful for Thalia's presence. "I love how often you hit on me." She replied, her voice soft. A little laugh following after.
"I mean, can you blame me..." Thalia joked around as she picked up a menu and began scanning the content, Sol soon joining along.
Sitting across from her good friend as they exchanged minimal banter and little shared laughs, Solana couldn't help but feel a sense of comfort wash over her. Amidst the chaos of her conflicting emotions that have haunted her head and mind within the last couple of days, Thalia's unwavering support was like a beacon of light in the storm.
"So, talk to me." The model set her menu down, already certain on what she wanted to order. "How are you feeling now? After getting the invite and all that?"
Solana let out a soft sigh, straightening her back before bringing her hands together. "Honestly, I'm still processing it all." She admitted. "Part of me is happy for Charles, like beyond happy for him."
"But another part... well, you know..."
"Mhm, spill." Thalia raised a brow
"My lingering feelings that haven't ever seemed to wither away... like ever." Sol replied in a low whisper as if she was going to get killed for admitting it out loud.
"Stop acting like Madeline has a sniper waiting for you." Her friend nearly laughed. "It's okay to say you have feelings for Charles."
"Thalia, he's taken! He's going to get married." Solana said with guilt. "You already know how bad this makes me feel."
Thalia nodded sympathetically, her gaze filled with understanding. "Girl, it's okay to feel conflicted," She reassured her friend. "But you really shouldn't beat yourself up over it."
"And remember, you're not alone. I'm here for you, always." She paused. "Talk to me about anything, and just know I'll always be on your side."
A sense of gratitude washed over Sol as she met Thalia's stare, her eyes shimmering with unspoken emotion. "Thank you." She whispered, her voice barely above a murmur.
"But don't think I'll sweet talk Madeline ever."
"Oh come on." Her expression fell. "Solana." Thalia leaned forward, resting her arms on the table.
"She used you... to get to Charles."
"Like seven years ago!" Sol argued. "I also helped him ask her out! He did fall in love with her in the end, did he not?"
"Oh my goodness." The model groaned.
"It's more of an issue on my part, I don't get why it bothers you so much..." An eyebrow raised, questioning why her friend disliked the girl so much.
Well, she was aware, because Sol knew deep down inside how terrible Madeline can be and is.
"It just fuels my hatred more." Thalia replied. "She used you, Sol. I know you forgave her but it's the way she still treats you like garbage. It's so unclassy." She paused.
"And what happened back in Suzuka between me and her, oh I will explode just thinking about it."
"I need to take you to a rage room or something." Sol bit down a grin as Thalia glanced at her.
"That would be beautiful. Maybe I can imagine beating Madeline's face—"
"THALIA." She scolded once more.
"Sol, she commented on my bloating." The model brought up one of the many reasons she hated Madeline. And she had just recently met the girl. First impressions were always important to her.
"Which by the way, is a completely fucking normal thing and I will.. Ohh my god."
"Not to mention her little jabs at Lily and I, or even her petty glares.... Oh! And let's not forget when she 'accidentally' spilled her wine on me! She's such an angel, right?!" Thalia took a pause to let out a frustrated breath.
"Like what fucking right does this bitch think she—"
"Okay yes, shes an awful person, I'm aware Thalia."
"Thank you for finally admitting it out loud." She laughed. "So you get why I hate her right? I just gave you a plethora of valid reasons."
"It's just hard for me to hate on this girl because she's with the man I..." Sol paused. "You know..." Her gaze seemed nervous. "Bashing on her just makes me feel evil."
"You aren't evil." Thalia said through a small giggle of disbelief. "You really aren't. You of all people have every right not to like her." She paused.
"And don't get me wrong, I love women! Just not this one."
"That sounds so bad." Sol bit down a laugh. "You're crazy."
"I'm just real." With crossed arms, she replied. "Soon to be Mrs. Leclerc on the other hand actually hates women because anything a WAG has had to say about her was never ever pretty."
"That may be true." Solana nodded, her mind swirling with a mixture of emotions.
"But, I don't know... I can't shake it off. I really just wish I could get rid of these feelings." She confessed, her voice tinged with frustration.
Thalia reached across the table, placing a reassuring hand on Solana's, calming down from the rising rage she had thinking about Madeline.
"Look. Feelings aren't something you can switch off like a light, Sol. It's okay to still care about someone, even if they're with someone else... no matter how terrible."
"I know," Solana sighed through a small smirk as Thalia made her briefly laugh. Her shoulders soon sagging with the weight of her emotions. "But it's like a constant battle between my heart and my head..."
"Everytime I have a bad thought about Madeline, or literally just speak to Charles in general, I feel like I have demons in my mind telling me I'm an awful person." She laughed nervously.
"You're the furthest thing from that. You're an angel." Thalia reassured her. "The sweetest girl I've had the pleasure of knowing, it's like you live up to your name."
"You are the sun." She paused. "My Sunshine!"
"Oh..." Sol briefly frowned in response. "Yeah, don't call me that." She shook her head as Thalia quirked a brow.
"Wait, why not?"
"Charles used to call me that." She said awkwardly. Her shoulders slouching with guilt as Thalia's lips formed a thin line. "I need a grand piano to fall on him." She groaned into the palms of her hands.
"Thalia!" Solana laughed as the model held her arms up in defense.
"I really like him! I really do, but he makes it so so hard sometimes." The model replied.
"You could say that again." Sol scoffed, her hand running through her hair as she briefly smiled. The two quickly falling silent before Thalia spoke up.
"I can't emphasize it enough, but I'm here for you, okay?" She exhaled. "Me, Calvin, Lily? We love you and we will always be your number one supporters."
Solana managed a weak smile, touched by her friend's words. "Thank you, Thals."
"Always, my love," She said with a reassuring squeeze of her hand. "Now, how about we order some mimosas and enjoy ourselves?"
Solana chuckled, grateful for the distraction.
"Sounds beautiful."
