Chapter 12 - My Hero

Two rather stunning middle-aged women could be seen looking over their options on the menu in front of them as they sat outside in a small-town café they had decided to meet up at.

The news that morning had said it'd be slightly chilly, so both had in mind something hot to warm the body and soul.

Handing the menu back to the rather handsome waiter, Inko placed her order.

"I'd l-like a latte with a-almond milk and two shots of espresso, please." She couldn't help but keep her gaze on the table, too shy to look at the man scribbling away on his tablet.

"And would you like to accompany that with anything to eat, mam? He politely asked the flustered lady as he took the menu from the blonde woman that sat in front of her.

"Y-yes, I'd like a s-slice of c-cranberry pie." She told the waiter, wishing he'd disappear.

"Alright, how about you, mam?" he said as the turned to face the smirking blonde woman.

"I'll be having the same as my friend, please." She let out, as she gazed back and forth from Inko and the waiter, who had presented himself as 'Raoul'.

"No prob, I'll have it out soon ladies." With a slight bow, he sped off back into the café.

"Inko you have got to stop being so shy! You're a beautiful woman! Own up to it and wear that face proudly!" She encouraged her timid friend, "Now lift up that face, you can't be dropping those pretty little eyes every time some cute dude comes near you."

Looking at her friend, Inko couldn't help but giggle as her words comforted her ego. Since her husband left so many years ago, she'd quickly tried spiraling down into self-loathing, but the blonde woman was always there to pull her back out. She just couldn't help but be intimidated by men.

"Now, getting back to what we were talking about before 'Raoul' came," she said his name with a squint of her brows and nose, making Inko giggle at her, "What do you think's going on with the brats?"

Still giggling, "Well, if what Katsu said to you is true, then I think they have a little crush on each other." She stated, proud she could fit the pieces of the puzzle together.

"Yeah, but Katsuki's too fucking thick-headed to figure it out on his own." She complained about her son.

"And my little Izu lives in the clouds most of the time, I doubt he knows what's going on." She said, sighing at her son's aloofness.

They didn't know how to go about this and the blonde never really being a patient woman, was the first to show her frustration, "Fucking teenagers and their fucking hormones!"

Kami she loved her friend, but she always knew how to draw attention to herself. Inko quickly tried calming her down as she noticed the other customers giving them strange looks.

"Well, let's give them some time, I'm sure they'll eventually figure something out, they're still kids Mitsu." She stated calmly as Raoul walked out of the café, their things in hand.

Reaching their table, he placed their order down, and bowed once again as he explained he'd be nearby in case they required anything else.

Placing her cup in both hands, she could feel the warmth seep through it and into her cold hands. Taking a sip, she looked at her friend, "I know! I just want to go to the fucking spa!" whined the blonde.

Kami knows they both really needed it, and if Kami was good, Kami would give them what they wanted, or so they thought.

"If you think about it, little Izu seems to be more accepting of his feelings than my fucking brat." Explained the blonde, "Katsu's always in such a sour mood, that prissy little fucker."

"He might be trying to understand them and he really doesn't know what's going on or why he feels the way he does," she answered, taking a bite out of her pie, the sweet sourness of it caressing her taste buds as the food reached it, "maybe it scares him, he's always been so tough, you know?"

Inko had always thought the blond boy to be stronger than her little Izu in every way. 'Guess his feelings got the better of him.' She thought as she placed the cup to her lips, a whiff of ground coffee making its way into her nostrils giving her a chill.

"I get what you mean." Sighed the older blonde, "I just wish he wasn't so damn stubborn. I'm sure he's figured something out and just pushes it aside thinking it's wrong."

At this rate they were never going to go to the spa. She was getting really annoyed now, that is until a bright idea showed her the light.

"Inko! My bet was to only figure out what was going on with my brat! It's not like we have to get them together and shit!" she explained, getting excited. They were going to get their week at the spa even if it was the last thing she did.

"Way to loophole yourself out of that one." Giggled the green-haired woman as she finished her pie. "How do you plan on doing that?"

Grabbing onto the table, "Well, it's simple!" she said as she began explaining to her friend how'd she'd start spying on the teenage boy.

Behind them, a very small old woman with a white lab coat and a pink device surrounding her head could be heard talking with someone on the phone. "Alright, I'll be in soon." She said as she gathered her things.

"Thank you, Recovery Girl, the kids are almost done with their activity." Was the answer she received.

Hanging up the phone, she placed some cash on the small table and took her leave. 'Darn kids getting hurt...it can't be helped.' She thought as her short legs carried her to her car.

Now, back at U.A. High on the other side of town, training field 3 to be exact, two very lively teens could be found in what one would consider a verbal discussion.

"Just who the fuck do you think you are you peppermint bitch!" screamed one extremely pissed off Bakugo, "Going around asking people stupid ass questions!" He was beyond pissed, he was seething, his pores were sweating like crazy, making the blond create tiny explosions all around him.

Happy was the last thing on Bakugo's mind as he glared daggers into Todoroki's head, slamming each and every one of them right between his eyes. He wanted to the kill the boy, he needed to wipe that fucking smirk he was mocking him with off his face.

Amused at the blond's outburst, "Why does someone like you care about what I do?" he asked, pissing the blond off some more, if that was possible.

"I fucking don't!" he screamed back, "Just don't go asking the nerd stupid as questions, fucking bastard!" he said taking a look at the frightened boy behind Todoroki.

'Shit Katsuki, you're scaring him.' He thought as he tried to calm down.

"What goes on between Izuku and I does not concern you." He spoke, purposefully dragging out the boy's name, "So back off. Let's go Izuku, we're done here." He said grabbing the smaller teen's arm.

"Tch!" he said.

'Asking my nerd stupid shit.' He thought, not realizing what he would consider a mistake, Midoriya wasn't his.

As he was pulled out of the arena, he couldn't help but turn to look at Katsuki. "Kacchan..." he barely let out, unheard to all.

The blond just stood there, balling his fist as he stared into the ground. He was hurting, and little Midoriya could tell. He wanted to comfort his friend, but he knew he'd most likely be pushed away or yelled at, so, he just let Todoroki pull him inside.

Walking through the double doors that led into the screening room, both teens made it to the front, all their classmates' eyes on them.

"Guys, you're all staring, it's freaking me out." Spoke the red- and white-haired teen as his usually bubbly pink friend walked up to them.

"Todo, we all heard..." she said with a worried look on her face.

"What do you mean you all heard, the earpieces aren't on a two-way network." He said back to Uraraka.

Sighing, she had some explaining to do, "Well, after Mineta's and Kaminari's turn out there, Kaminari let out a burst of electricity as they faced off their villain, and it somehow reversed the entire system."

She could see his understanding gaze as she went on, "So, basically, we can hear everything in here but outside you can't."

"Shit." He said, slightly getting lightheaded his feet gave out a bit, still holding onto Midoriya's arm he gave a firmer grip to steady himself.

Turning to grab his friend so that he wouldn't fall, "Todoroki, here, come with me." The green-eyed boy said as he led his friend towards a seat in a corner. "Take a seat before you fall."

Thankful his friend was there to help him out, he took a seat and relaxed. "I fucked up..." he stated leaning forwards to place his elbows on his knees as Midoriya looked down at him.

Understanding the boy's frustration, he knelt down to get eye level with him and made Todoroki look at him, "Hey, it's going to be alright." He tried to comfort him, though he still felt a tad bit sad at not being able to do the same for the blond outside.

Grabbing his head with both hands, his fingers tightly wrapping around his locks, "No Izu, I fucked up. I put you on the spot with some stupid question and to top it all off everyone heard me and you're injured because of me." He cried out shaking, afraid of his mistake.

Coming from a wealthy family, Shoto Todoroki had been raised to be perfection. Being the son of the number 2 hero, Endeavor, he was the supposed to represent the perfect combination of his father's fire and his mother's ice. Mistakes were to be punished, or so his father had made him believe his entire life, where he would be subjected to verbal and physical abuse.

Taking in the state of the boy in front of him, Izuku did the only thing he thought that would help. His mother would do it to him and it always helped him.

Standing up, he pulled up a chair next to Todoroki and pushed their bodies together as he embraced the older boy. Leaning his chin on the boy's back, "Hey, never say that what you're feeling is stupid. You voiced what your heart is feeling, and that takes courage. I didn't really say anything because it took me by surprise." He said as he felt Todoroki no longer shaking.

"And so what if everyone heard, you should be proud for doing what your heart said. You're always thinking with you head, it's nice to see that you care." He was now rubbing the boys back, one arm still wrapped around him. "Plus, they're all our friends, you should know they're going to support you, always, as will I."

Straightening out a bit, he poked the boy on his shoulder making him look up at him, "About the burn, that's no one's fault but my own. I saw the flames and decided to jump anyways. You know how rash I tend to be, always rushing into things." He said giggling a bit, knowing his words were reaching his friend. "So stop worrying, Recovery Girl will have me like new in no time!"

"I just couldn't control them Izuku, they overpowered me and then when I saw what was going to happen, its like my whole world stopped and all I could do was run towards you. I'm so fucking useless" He said, putting himself down again.

"NO!" he practically screamed at Todoroki, "Don't ever say you're useless. You were able to catch me, you were able to protect us from Midnight at the last minute, you made the distraction in the beginning and because of you we also passed the assignment." He was rambling now, this was a personal thing for him, being called useless was a big no no to him.

He heard the older boy beneath him laugh as he went on refuting his uselessness. Taking his arm off of him as Todoroki began to sit up, he faced his friend, "Thank you." Said Midoriya as a small tear reached the edge of his green eyes.

"For what?" asked the surprised teen. If anyone should be saying thank you, it was him, or so Todoroki thought.

"For saving me at the end," he simply said, never averting his gaze from the boy, "for being a hero, my hero."

Shock filled Todoroki as he heard those final words. This boy, his crush, considered him a hero. He had never felt anything like this before. It was like everything that was currently consuming him was simply washed away, as if it never existed.

A few seats off to the side, Uraraka couldn't help but smile and relax as she heard the ongoing conversation between her two friends. "Maybe this won't turn out so bad." She spoke to herself.

'Thank you for saving him from himself Midoriya, you really are a hero." She thought as she brought her attention back to the screen in front of her.

She could see an angry blond wreaking havoc on the streets in the field outside. It seemed as if he was just randomly blowing things up, no longer following any real plan or objective. He was letting out his anger and boy was he angry.

Her friend clearly felt something for the blond on the screen, but she didn't seem to think it was such a good idea that he pursue after those feelings. She wanted him to be happy, and maybe Todoroki could do that for him. She also wanted Todoroki to be happy, he deserved it, hell, they both deserved it, they were both her friends.

Something deep inside of her was telling her that maybe something was wrong, but she didn't know what. It's as if the universe was trying to correct something that wasn't meant to happen. The feeling was intense, and it scared her, but why was it there to begin with. Things tended to work themselves out.

The 15-minute timer going off only made her stomach curl as she anxiously waited for what was coming, Katsuki Bakugo.

"Alright, we're done here." She heard her sensei say right as a busted up Kirishima dragged himself into the room, falling down before making it all the way in.

Right behind him, came in Bakugo, stepping over the red-headed teen, walking to Aizawa that stood by the screens.

"Bakugo, Kirishima, you both pass, though I will be taking points from you both; Bakugo, you destroyed half of the arena, which was not necessary and keep in mind that Kirishima is your partner not your shield." He spoke loud and clear for all to hear, no one daring to say a word as they looked at the pair.

"The fuck you extras looking at!" he spat as he turned on his heels and left the room.

"Get moving. Those who need medical attention, make your way to Recovery Girl's office, I was told she just arrived. The rest of you, get changed and go to lunch." He said before walking out of the room.

A slightly recovered Kaminari walked over to the still wounded Kirishima, "Dude, are you ok?" he asked, worry written all over his face. "He practically made you his wall, so not cool."

Getting up from the floor, letting out a loud groan, he leaned up against the door as he spoke, "Yeah, but it was manliest thing ever, right?" he asked, a fake smile trying to cover the pain his face was showing.

"No dude, not manly, not cool." Spoke the electric blond to his friend, "Now come on, let's go see Recovery Girl, she'll fix us up." He said, draping on of red-head's arm over his shoulders to help him to his feet.

In the back of the room, Midoriya watched the seen play out and couldn't help but feel guilty for what had happened to Kirishima.

'I must have really pissed Kacchan off.' He told his inner self and apparently the boy standing to his right, because he got an answer.

"Stop excusing his actions Izuku and stop blaming yourself for things you have no control over." Todoroki said, "Now come on, you've got to go see Recovery Girl about that arm." He placed a hand on Midoriya's back as he pushed the boy along.

Said boy made no sign that he was about to move, as he turned to face his friend, "Todoroki, is it alright if I go by myself?" he asked.

"Are you sure? Is it because of my question earlier in the arena? You don't have-" he got to say as Midoriya cut him off.

"Yes I'm sure. About your question...I'd like some time to think about it, which is why I'd like to go alone right now." He explained, "So go change and have lunch with the guys. I'll see you guys later." He said as he turned around and walked off.

Slightly stunned at the boy's words, Todoroki stood there dumbfounded. 'He's going to think it over...' he thought as a smile adorned his lips.

Slightly snapping him out of his daze, he heard his friend calling out his name, "Todoroki, let's go before the cafeteria gets too crowded." He made his way over to Uraraka and she couldn't help but see the dumb smile he had on.

"So, what's got you all stupid happy?" she asked, somewhat knowing the answer, but decided to snoop anyways, loving her some gossip.

"He said he was going to think about it..." he answered, a tear fighting its way out of his right eye as his smile only got even wider.
