Tip #1
In this story I will throw out and remind you of the things you need to stay aware of while writing a book. Not to mention somethings you might not know in order to help you achieve a New York Times Bestselling title. You don't think the authors that did achieve that put a main character and made them run everywhere did you? (Cough, cough, Maze Runner. Just kidding, I love Maze Runner.)
Anyway, let's get started shall we?
Tip #1
I can not stress this enough. Make sure you have a direction for your story before you write anything. Make sure you have events written down and then narrow them down. By doing so the book will flow from paragraph to paragraph and won't end up like this.
A dystopian novel:
As I run to save my friend, my bloody and beaten friend, I notice a pink and gold frilly unicorn galloping beside me.
Like no! Jackie Chan Facebook meme inserted here. You can not have a dystopian novel about war and death and suddenly have a unicorn. So, don't rush with your story. Take your time. It'll all be worth it. If you don't plan everything ahead then you're going to get frustrated. Trust me one time I tried to write a sequel to a kidnapping story and the main character developed anorexia. It doesn't make sense. Don't try to fit in so many events in one book.

How was that??? I'm also guilty of wanting too much in one book but it's a mistake we can learn from.
