Emotions

There is a really simple checklist/list of tips when it comes to writing emotions.

1) Identify the emotions you want to show.

2) Find some words that relate to the emotion. For fear you might feel cold, clammy palms, shallow breaths, shaking, so on.

3) Think of your character. How would the emotion affect them specifically? Every deals with certain situations and emotions differently. Remember that every character is different.

4) Don't be super blunt. Don't say "I was excited" say "The grin plastered on my face was making my cheeks ache. Heart running a marathon, I felt my limbs shaking in tune with it. Today was the day"

5) Do your research. This can apply to every single one of my chapters. You can find tons of body language cheat sheets that will tell you how to portray different emotions physically, you can use a thesaurus to find words similar to your emotions.

Emotions may seem impossible to write, they're hard to describe to yourself afterall, but when you simplify down to these 5 tips, it's ten times easier. Your readers will feel your characters emotions as the character themself is feeling them. That should always be your goal.

Request are open and so is asking questions!
