50| This is it

I thought of posting it on Valentine's day like a few readers have suggested, but I couldn't wait for you guys to read it! So here you go! :D

Chapter 50:

"Where is Aakash?" he hissed at Amelia. "Does he know you're cheating on him?"

Madhan addressed Amelia first. He was planning on beating up Armaan afterwards.

"He left before New Year," Amelia replied, rather indifferently. "And before you freak out, he hired me as his fake girlfriend. The deal ended a few minutes ago."

Madhan just stared. "He what?" he exclaimed. He did all this for Riya? To get her over him? His heart ached for him. Riya had told him that Aakash had a beautiful girlfriend. She hoped that she made him happy.

Armaan took advantage of the confusion and tried to escape, but Madhan was quick to block him.

"You are not going anywhere without explaining what just happened here."

Armaan averted his eyes. "I suffocated," he mumbled. "I couldn't take the pressure of becoming a father. Came down here to drown away my worries."

Madhan told Amelia to scat. He and Armaan were going to have a long discussion later. But not at that moment. He had a gorgeous wife waiting for him.

"This isn't over," he said rudely to Armaan and left the place.

Madhan was extremely disturbed when he followed Riya to their suite. This New Year was one heck of a start for them. He had to reassure Riya that he was totally fine. He bluffed that it was office work that he was worried about.

Riya stroked his hair as he placed one arm around her waist, facing her. He was asleep within minutes.

The next day was pack up day. They drove back home and reached at night.

During this trip, Riccha, Auroshi, Keerthi and Riya became incredibly close. They all missed Sheila, however.

Madhan paced about his room. Riya was still sleeping from the long drive the previous day. He needed to sort things out immediately. Quietly closing the door behind him, he stormed to Armaan's house.

Knocking a bit impatiently, he heard Armaan shout for him to come inside.

On entering, he found Sheila lying on Armaan's lap. Her eyes were closed. Armaan asked Madhan to wait a bit. He stroked her back and hair, and once he was sure she was asleep, he lifted her and laid her on her bed.

"Please," he pleaded. "It was a one time thing only. I had too much to drink."

Madhan observed him closely. Was he lying? When he found huge traces of remorse, he decided to forgive him.

"You need to tell her. I'm sure she'll understand."

Armaan shook his head vigorously. "Not now. Her mood swings are more dangerous than a vampire's bite."

Madhan chuckled lightly. He pat Armaan's left shoulder, and left the house.

But it wasn't a one time thing.

Riya and Madhan went on their honeymoon for a week, the week after they came back from the Vegas. His boss offered him the promised promotion, and he made use of the one week holiday he got as a result. They went to different places in Canada, not wanting to waste time in travel.

They finally consummated their marriage. Riya was frightened initially. But her fears melted as she got lost in his eyes filled with so much love.

The moment was initiated when Madhan confessed to everything. They were lying on the bed at a lodge in Alberta, Canada. He confessed that she was a wild cat when she was drunk that day. He confessed that she used to hug him every night when they were sleeping together. He was afraid she would feel awkward so he refrained from telling her. He confessed that her mother told him about Aakash. He also confessed that he met Aakash in London. He was extremely sorry for lying.

However, he confessed to everything except one. When they went back home after New Years, he had called up Aakash and asked him what the hell that had just happened. Aakash pleaded to him that he doesn't say anything to Riya. It was the only way he could let her believe that he moved on. Knowing Riya, even Madhan was forced to agree to it. The guilt ate him up, but he had to hide it. For Riya's sake. If he told her what really happened, then Riya would go back to feeling guilty. Aakash had emphasized enough times that Riya deserved happiness. She didn't need to be tied down by this guilt.

Riya slapped him. She was angry at him for lying and hiding stuff from her. Especially about the whole Aakash episode. But her anger diminished instantly when Madhan's eyes started to water. She could feel the love he had for her emanate.

Riya tenderly caressed his cheek and hugged him tightly. When she pulled away, she gazed into his eyes and said the words that she had kept inside her for so long.

   "I love you, Madhan."

Madhan was dismayed. He wanted to say those words first. "Take them back," he scowled.

   Riya was confused. "Why?"

   "Take them back."

Riya did as he said. "Okay, I take it back, even though I don't want to."

   "I love you, Riya."

Riya face-palmed. He was really cute. She grabbed a fistful of his shirt and pulled him to her.

"I love you, too. Take me," she whispered.

And he did. He took her all night.

The honeymoon would have had an exemplary end had it not been for the sight that welcomed them to their house.

Armaan was shagging another girl in their bedroom.

Riya screamed. Madhan thundered at him to get out.

It all boiled down to one thing. Either Armaan confessed to his infidelity, or they did. Armaan was in desperate tears. He said that it wasn't that he wanted to hurt Sheila. No. Not at all. It was just that he wasn't ready to become a father. He needed sex. He wasn't ready to give that up for fatherhood.

Madhan didn't budge. Finally Armaan obliged. He went to confess to Sheila.

Half an hour later, Armaan came back to their house. "Madhan," he cried out, frantically. "She fainted."

Madhan rushed to their apartment. Sheila was slumped on the floor. Without a moment's hesitation, he lifted Sheila up and ran down the stairs. Riya grabbed the car keys and opened the door for him

Armaan didn't accompany them. He was too distraught.

Riya sat at the back with Sheila lying on her lap. She tenderly patted her stomach.

They reached the hospital in ten minutes. Madhan clambered inside to request for a stretcher.

Soon, Sheila was admitted in the ICU. Her blood pressure was extremely low.

Riya and Madhan clasped hands while waiting. There was no sign of Armaan and the doctors kept entering and exiting.

"What happened?" Madhan managed to ask, when one doctor came out.

"Her waters broke a few minutes ago. She's fine now, but in labor."

Riya squealed. Her instinct was to call Armaan but Madhan shook his head.

"No. Go inside. She needs you now."

Riya mutely agreed. She wore a hospital mask and held Sheila's hand.

Madhan went to look for Armaan. He was still at home. He wasn't drunk, but he was sat on the floor, staring in space.

"Armaan. Your fiance is in labor."

Armaan didn't look his way. He remained silent.

"I know you love her. She has probably started to love you too. She will understand," Madhan said, gently.

Armaan laughed bitterly. "Yeah, sure. She just fainted."

Madhan didn't know what to say for that. "Riya and I worked it out, I'm sure you both can, too."

He somehow managed to get Armaan to the hospital. He was welcomed by a beautiful sight at Sheila's room.

Riya was holding Sheila's baby. Sheila's eyes were closed.

Madhan knew they had ample time to see the baby, but Armaan really had to speak with Sheila. He motioned for Riya to come out.

After urging Armaan to go inside, he closed the door.

Armaan didn't come out for a very long time. Riya and Madhan went out to eat some breakfast. He told her he would be back in the evening. He needed to go for work. Riya was worried about her job as well. But now wasn't the time.

After Madhan left, she waited outside Sheila's room. She got up when the door opened. Armaan had a huge smile on his face.

"Thank you," he said, patting her shoulder and strolled off.

Riya hesitatingly went inside. Sheila's face was grief stricken.

"What happened?" she asked, worriedly, rushing to her side.

Sheila didn't speak for a while. Riya took the baby and placed her next to Sheila. It was a girl.

Riya's eyes brimmed with tears as she saw the love Sheila had for her daughter. It was a shame Armaan wasn't ready. Sheila spoke up after a while.

When Madhan came home from office, he was shocked to see the place lit up with candles. Riya was sitting in the dining room, looking very seductively hot.

He placed his suitcase on the sofa and strolled to her and Riya stood up. "If this is your attempt to seduce me, you have succeeded a two hundred percent," he said, dipping his head to kiss her.

The kiss was very passionate. When they broke up for air, Riya spoke the next words.

"What do you think of having a baby?" she asked.

Madhan grinned so huge. He scooped her bridal style, causing Riya to squeak.

He laid her on the bed and got on top of her. "I think we can have one right now," he said, slyly, and snuggled her neck.

Riya indulged herself in a bit of foreplay before she pushed him away. "Really?"

"Do you have to even ask?"

"Okay, that's wonderful. I can't believe we thought the same. Let's adopt."

Madhan dropped her on the bed without any warning.

Riya scowled as she rubbed her elbows. But she proceeded anyway. "Sheila and Armaan have come to the conclusion of giving their daughter for adoption. Sheila didn't want to do that, but she needs support. Armaan isn't ready to. She also loves Armaan, and is torned between her daughter and her to be husband. I thought she might feel comfortable if we were the ones to adopt her daughter."

Madhan scratched the back of his neck. "I need time to think."

Riya caressed his cheek. "Come with me to the hospital tomorrow. You might change your mind."

And Madhan did. When he carried the baby, she wrapped her tiny fingers around his pinky. Madhan was smitten.

Sheila had a month to be with her daughter. Riya and Madhan were going to sign the papers accepting guardianship.

   Aria.

That was the name Sheila had given her. Madhan loved the name. The two went shopping for their unexpected daughter. A lot of arguments took place but they managed to finally compromise. Riya opted for consulting. She no longer worked as a part of the company, but rather a standalone. It gave her the freedom to work from home. It was just what she needed.

A month later, they finally signed the papers. Armaan stood with Sheila, looking wistfully at her as she cried while hugging Aria. It pained Riya to see her, but it was probably the right thing for her to do. Sheila was sure she wanted a father and mother for her daughter.

Armaan broke the news when Riya took Aria. They were going to move to Florida in a week. To start afresh. But before that, they had to take a trip to India to introduce Sheila to his family and get married. Madhan was at a loss for words. Armaan had grown so close to them. He didn't know how he was going to not be able to barge into his house whenever he wanted to.

It was the day Armaan and Sheila were moving out. Aria was sleeping, so Riya and Madhan made their way to Armaan's house.

Riya hugged Sheila. She had tears in her eyes. "You are forgiven. You were forgiven so long ago," she said, kissing her forehead. Madhan hugged Armaan tightly, trying to control his emotions. It was a very tearful goodbye.

The last thing they heard Sheila say was, "Take care of my daughter. She couldn't have been in safer hands."

Aria was crying when they went back home. Riya was about to lift her, but felt a dizzy sensation. She rushed to the bathroom to throw up. Madhan followed behind her, holding Aria in his hands.

"Are you okay?" he asked, concerned. He rubbed her back with his free hand.

"I don't know," she said. She doubled over again as she threw up.

Madhan was worried. "Let's get you to the doctor."

A few urine tests later, it was confirmed that Riya was pregnant.

"You're pregnant," Madhan exclaimed, feeling elated with joy. "You are going to get a new brother or sister," he kissed Aria's cheek. Aria giggled cutely. In the hospital, Madhan held Aria in one hand, and wrapped the other arm around Riya.

Riya looked up at him and Madhan bent down to kiss her.

The moment they reached home, Aria started crying and Riya rushed to the restroom to throw up.

Madhan's eyebrows furrowed. He had two babies to take care of, plus there was another one on the way. Oh dear God, help him, he thought.

It was time to call the super-mothers.

AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH IT'S OVER :'( *Takes a deep breath.* *starts bawling again*

Okay, so it IS over!

Need to hear your comments! Did you guys like the ending?!?!!?!?

I won't be writing an epilogue for this story, since I felt this chapter WAS like an epilogue. I thought I could write a short funny book filled with Madhan's experiences as a father, but will take a long while!

Also, there IS a spin-off for Aakash. :D Details are posted in the last chapter! :D

The plot for Aakash is currently undergoing a brainstorming session. Updates will be weekly once.

I'll be closing this book with an author's note that will be updated tomorrow, mostly :P

As a writer, I make it a point to write Non-Cliche plots! :) Or rather, take a cliche plot and make it non-cliche ;) I have three plots already cooked up in my head, and if you like my style of writing or my books, please do follow me and stay tuned for more books! :D

I've written three other books, all of which are in third person as well. If you enjoy teen fiction, check out the description of these two books and read it if you think it's interesting.
