Chapter 9

After the boy and dragon finished eating, they went back to the island, the sun just hanging on the horizon as Adrien left the cove. Once he got back to the village, Adrien cleaned himself up and headed to the back room of the blacksmith shop to work on some ideas. But when he came up empty, he ended up rolling his pencil up and down on his desk out of boredom while supporting his head with his arm. Though his slump was soon interrupted when he spied Gabriel in the doorway from the corner of his eye.

"DAD! You're back!" Adrien exclaimed after being pulled away from his mindless task, shooting to his feet only to realise his desk was covered in drawings of his recent activities.

"Uh, Gorilla and Nathalie aren't here so..." the blonde stammered out as he quickly gathered his dragon drawings in a pile so Gabriel wouldn't catch a glimpse of them.

"I know." Gabriel sternly replied before he squeezed through the small doorway and entered the room.

"I came looking for you." The chieftain revealed, adjusting his helmet when it fell onto his forehead after he entered the room.

"You did?" Adrien questioned in worry as he finished hiding his drawings, having a bad feeling he knew why his Dad was looking for him.

"You've been keeping secrets." Gabriel stated, sending Adrien into a panic.

"I...I...I have?" Adrien stuttered, hoping to keep his secret from being blown.

"Just who long did you think you could hide it from me?" Gabriel questioned.

"I... I... I don't know what you're..." Adrien began, grasping at straws to avoid talking about his 'secret'.

"Nothing happens on this island, without me hearing about it." Gabriel sternly proclaimed, his voice raising in volume as he spoke.

"Oh?" Adrien replied, having nothing else to say after his father's words.

"So... let's talk... about that dragon." Gabriel announced as he took a step towards his son. Immediately, Adrien thought he was talking about Plagg.

"Oh gods. Dad, I am so sorry. I... I was going to tell you. I just didn't know how to..." Adrien stuttered out, ready to go on his knees and beg for forgiveness. But to his absolute shock, Gabriel started laughing. Seeing how happy his dad was acting, Adrien joined in the laughter with his own strained short-lived chuckle.

"You're... You're not upset?" the boy asked after his chuckling, his father's own laughter dying down.

"WHAT?! I was hoping for this!" Gabriel exclaimed after he finished laughing, only confusing the poor boy.

"Uh... you were?" Adrien began, still thinking his father was talking about Plagg.

"And believe me, it only gets better! Just wait until you spill a Nadder's guts for the first time! And mount your first Gronckle head on a spear!" Gabriel rambled on in excitement, allowing Adrien to realise that he was talking about his success in dragon training.

"WHAT A FEELING! You really had me going there son!" the chieftain exclaimed before he affectionately punched Adrien in the chest, sending him into the bookshelf and back into a basket that was leaning against it.

"ALL THOSE YEARS OF THE WORST VIKING MIRACULOUS HAS EVER SEEN!" Gabriel declared in his pride while Adrien got out of the basket and back onto his feet, unintentionally hurting the boy's feelings a bit.

"Odin, it was rough, I almost gave up on you! But all the while you were holding out on me! OH THOR ALMIGHTY!!" the chieftain bellowed, making Adrien smile at the sight of his father being proud of him. After he finished his speech, Gabriel sighed and sat down in a spare stool that had been laying around so he could be right across from Adrien.

"With you doing so well in the ring... we finally have something to talk about." Gabriel finished, scorching the stool closer to Adrien as he spoke. But with his dad sitting in front of in anticipation, Adrien couldn't say anything, deciding against it in hopes of not losing the pride his dad felt at that moment. How could he explain that the only reason he had been doing so well in training, was because he had a dragon in his care to learn from?

But the sudden awkward silence didn't stop Gabriel from pulling out a helmet from behind him.

"Oh I, uh... I brought you something, to keep you safe in the ring." the chieftain said as he handed the object to Adrien. Made of the blackest iron, the helmet was of a normal design amongst vikings. But it was also adorned with neon green horns, making it stand out even more than it did with the dark metal. As the helmet rested in Adrien's hands, he was blown away with amazement as he smiled at the gift his dad gave him.

"Wow, thanks Dad!" Adrien thanked before he began inspecting the helmet in interest.

"Ah, your mother would have wanted you to have it. It was hers when she was your age." Gabriel revealed, making Adrien look up from his inspecting and back at his dad in awe.

"This was mom's?" Adrien wondered out loud before he looked back down at the helmet in his hands with refuelled amazement.

"Indeed. We got them at the same time a few months after we met. So it keeps her close, you know." Gabriel revealed out of fondness as he pointed to his left shoulder pad, the one engraved with a peacock. His mother's favourite animal.

"Wear it proudly. You deserve it. You've held up your end of the deal." the chieftain assured, sending Adrien into a fit of uneasiness. He knew he hadn't held up his end of said deal, and immediately felt guilty about it. But not wanting his dad to know, he set the helmet down on his table and pretended to yawn.

"Thanks Dad. But I should really get to bed." Adrien said, promptly ending the conversation.

"Yes, good. OK, good talk." Gabriel agreed as he got up from the stool he was sitting on and began making his way to the door.

"I'll see you back at the house after I finish cleaning up here. Thanks for stopping by, and for Mom's helmet." Adrien thanked again as Gabriel reached the door, looking back at the helmet on his desk with a smile.

"Well, uh, good night." Gabriel farewelled before he squeezed through the small door again, feeling good about the conversation he had with his son. But unknown to him, Adrien was left alone with his thoughts of guilt, which were quickly interrupted by the clanging of metal outside the room. Immediately, he knew that his dad knocked into something, meaning he really did have to clean up the shop. Great.

The next day at the arena, the whole village had come to see the final recruits compete for the honour of killing the King Monkey Nightmare. The task for both recruits, Adrien and Marinette, was to defeat the Carapace Gronckle one final time. But currently, Adrien was hiding behind one of the temporary walls Gorilla and Nathalie had set up, wearing his helmet and holding an axe and shield as his weapons. He intended to stay there for the whole match, but Marinette appeared next to him and hid behind it as well, her rope dart in her hand. Before he could even say anything, she noticed he was there too and pushed his shield down to have a clear view of his face as she said...

"Stay out of my way, Adrien! I'm winning this thing." Marinette warned her secret crush, her competitiveness preventing her feelings for the boy to surface. After she spoke, Marinette left the wall cover in exchange for a closer one to the dragon.

"Please, by all means." Adrien obliged, both not wanting to anger his crush, but also to not have any part in defeating the dragon. But when he stood up from his hiding spot, he saw his Dad standing above him, smiling in pride. Feeling the pressure, Adrien gave him a small smile in return before he turned towards the dragon coming at him. Meanwhile, Marinette had been shifting hiding spots from wall to wall, getting closer to the dragon until she deemed herself close enough for a surprise attack on it.

"This time, THIS TIME FOR SURE!" Marinette assured herself before coming out of her hiding spot, screaming and jumping over walls towards the dragon, spinning her rope dart. However, her attack was stopped short when she saw the Carapace Gronkle laying at a cowering Adrien's feet, the boy's weapons and helmet laying discarded beside him. When the boy saw the situation he accidently caused, he gestured for Marientte to attack it so she could be the victor. But the cheering crowd and the sight of the defeated dragon only enraged Marinette, who assumed that Adrien had defeated it.

"NO! NO, SON OF A HALF-TROLL, RAT-EATING, MUNCH-BUCKET!" the midnight-haired girl screamed in rage as she started swinging her rope dart around in her rage. But her rage was interrupted by Master Fu's staff as he tapped it to the ground.

"WAIT, wait!" Gabriel yelled, calming the crowd's cheers so they could hear him.

"So, later." Adrien said as tried to leave, knowing exactly what was about to happen.

"Oh, no. Not so fast." Gorilla exclaimed as he picked Adrien up by his shirt collar as he walked past him and Nathalie, and pulled him back to where he was standing a few seconds ago.

"But I'm kind of late for..." Adrien began, trying to get out of the arena before the big announcement.

"WHAT?!" a voice behind Adrien shouted, interrupting him. But before he could turn around, he was met with the blade of Marinette's rope dart as the girl held it to his throat.

"LATE FOR WHAT, EXACTLY?!" Marinette questioned in her rage, forgetting about her crush on the boy for a hot minute.

"Okay, quiet down! Master Fu has decided." Gabriel announced, forcing Marinette to calm down and lower her rope dart from Adrien's throat so she could move to stand beside Nathalie, while Gorilla stood beside Adrien. Everyone could only wait in anticipation to know who won the honour. Nathalie then raised her hand to point at Marinette, but Master Fu shook his head 'no', surprising the crowd. But when Gorilla pointed over to Adrien, the elder nodded his head, making the crowd cheer and Adrien wince when he knew he had won. Glancing over at Marinette and seeing the look on her face only confirmed it.

"OH, YOU'VE DONE IT! YOU'VE DONE IT ADRIEN! YOU GET TO KILL THE DRAGON!" Gorilla celebrated before the rest of his classmates, besides Marinette, hoisted him onto their shoulders and added onto the cheering.

"THAT'S MY BOY!" Gabriel exclaimed in pride.

"Yeah. Yes. I can't wait." Adrien half heartedly agreed as his classmates celebrated. "I am so... "

"... Leaving. We're leaving!" Adrien announced as he walked into the cove; dressed in all black plus a hood and a neon green tunic being the only pop of colour, as he carried a basket to Plagg's napping spot.

"Let's pack up. Looks like you and I are taking a little vacation. Forever." the boy sighed out before he stopped halfway to Plagg's spot, and knelt down to the ground next to a boulder to open the basket.

"Oh, man." Adrien groaned as he stood back up, only to be surprised to see Marinette sitting on top of the boulder, sharpening her rope dart's blade with a rock.

"WHAT THE..?!" the boy exclaimed in shock, jumping back from the boulder.

"Wh... wha... what are you doing here?" Adrien questioned after gathering his wits and tried to play off his previous shock.

"I want to know what's going on." Marinette admitted as she finished sharpening her blade, letting the stone drop to the ground. She then jumped off of the rock and started to walk towards Adrien.

"No one just gets as good as you do. Especially you." the midnight-haired girl remarked as Adrien kept backing away from her, trying to avoid answering her.

"SO START TALKING! Are you training with someone?" Marinette interrogated, trying to get answers.

"Um... training? Oh um..." Adrien managed to stammer out, attempting to not reveal his reason for being in the cove.

"It better not involve this." Marinette warned as she grabbed his vest, referring to his outfit he was wearing.

"I know this looks really bad, but you see..." Adrien began, only for a twig snap to alert Marinette and pull Adrien down to the ground so she could get past him and investigate. But quick as a whip Adrien got back up from the ground to stop her.

"You're right. You're right. You're right. I'm through with the lies. I've been making.... outfits." Adrien lied, grasping at straws. But that didn't stop Marinette from wanting to find out what made the sound, so he jumped in front of her to prevent her from finding Plagg.

"So you got me. It's time everyone knew. Drag me back, go ahead. Here we go..." the boy rambled as he kept Marinette from looking behind him by moving his body to block any of her attempts to look beyond him. But having had enough of his lies, Marinette took Adrien's hand and twisted it back, pushing him towards the ground.

"OW! Why would you do that!" Adrien exclaimed in pain as he landed on his knees. But before he could soothe the pain Marinette had caused, she kicked him to the ground.

"That's for the lies." Marinette replied when the boy was laying on his back.

"And that's..." the midnight-haired girl began before she kicked Adrien in the stomach, making him cry out in pain.

"for everything else!" Marinette finished, just before a roar could be heard from the other side of the cove.

"Oh man." Adrien groaned, knowing that there was no way he could logically explain that to Marinette. Hearing the noise, Marinette turned to look for the source, only to be met with Plagg waking up from his nap.

"Get down!" Marinette yelled with a gasp before she shoved Adrien to the ground, landing on top of him. But in Plagg's eyes, he thought that Marinette was the attacker and leaped out of his napping area to protect Adrien.

"RUN! RUN!" the bluenette exclaimed as she rolled off of Adrien and pulled out her rope dart to protect them. Just before Plagg was about to be right on top of them, Adrien got up and tackled Marinette to the ground, pulling the rope dart out of Marinette's hands and throwing it away before he stood in between the girl and dragon.

"NO! It's OKAY! It's okay." Adrien assured the frightened Plagg, the dragon coming down from his roaring rage.

"She's a friend." the boy admitted, calming Plagg down enough to not attack Marinette, much to Adrien's relief.

"You just scared him." Adrien explained to a horrified Marinette as she got up from the ground, Plagg edging closer to her before Adrien gently pushed the dragon back.

"I scared HIM?!" Marinette exclaimed in disbelief. Though once Adrien's words sunk in, a little bit of confusion snuck its way into her panicked thoughts.

"Who is 'him'?" the bluenette questioned. Seeing no other choice, Adrien decided that some introductions were in order.

"Um, Marinette, Plagg. Plagg, Marinette." Adrien introduced, turning to the respective party as he spoke. Immediately after the boy tried to establish some form of decorum, Plagg snarled at Marinette and caused her to run away in fear and disbelief.

"Dun dun dun, we're dead." The blonde announced as he and Plagg watched Marinette's retreating form. But unlike Adrien, Plagg was happy that the intruder was gone. So with a shake of his shoulders, Plagg turned back towards his napping spot and decided to go back to sleep.

"Hey, where do you think you're going?" Adrien questioned Plagg, knowing that they needed to do something. If they didn't, then they could kiss their secret 'goodbye'.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Marinette had escaped the cove and was running in the forest, trying to get away to tell everyone about what happened. But just as she was about to jump from a log and land on the other side of it, something grabbed her arm and pulled her into the air.

"OH GREAT ODIN'S GHOST! THIS-THIS IS IT!" Marinette screamed as the ground got farther and farther away from her feet. Despite her screams of panic, she managed to look up and see it was Plagg holding onto her with his claws... with Adrien riding him! While Marinette kept screaming her lungs out, grabbing onto Plagg's leg to keep herself from falling, the boy and dragon flew back towards the edge of the cove. But instead of landing on the ground, Plagg flew over to a tree and tossed Marinette onto it, forcing her to grab onto a branch. A second afterwards, Plagg himself landed on the top of the tree, forcing it to bend towards the cove down below.

"ADRIEN, GET ME DOWN FROM HERE!!" Marinette demanded as she dangled from the tree branch she was holding onto.

"You have to give a chance to explain." Adrien began, hoping to get Marinette to understand why he kept Plagg a secret.

"I AM NOT LISTENING TO ANYTHING YOU HAVE TO SAY!!" Marinette yelled as she tried to move over to the trunk of the tree, hoping to get to safety before her arms gave out.

"Then I won't speak. Just let me show you." Adrien offered, halting Marinette's shuffling to the centre mass of the tree.

"Please Marinette." the boy begged. Seeing that she had no other choice, Marinette lifted herself up onto the branch she was holding onto, and crouched on it. She reaches for the saddle, Plagg growling at her in warning as she did. Ignoring the dragon and refusing Adrien's outstretched hand, Marientte pulled herself into the saddle and slid right behind Adrien before sitting down.

"Now get me down." Marinette demanded impatiently, hoping to get to safety as soon as possible.

"Plagg, down. Gently." Adrien told Plagg, promoting the Chat Noir Fury to extend his wings and allow the tree to lift up.

"See. Nothing to be afraid of." the blonde remarked to Marinettte, unaware of Plagg's hidden agenda.

With a sly smile to himself, Plagg shot into the sky at breakneck speed.

"Whoa!" Adrien exclaimed as they suddenly went into the sky, gaining enough altitude that the three of them could see the ocean glistening in the sunset.

"Plagg!" the boy yelled, trying to take control of the escalating situation. Meanwhile, a terrified Marinette was screaming her head off as she began to fall out of the saddle. Thankfully for her, she stopped herself from falling off by wrapping her legs around Adrien's midsection, her arms flailing around to wrap around his shoulders.

"What is wrong with you?! Bad dragon!" Adrien scolded, causing Plagg to level out from his accent while Marinette held tightly onto Adrien's shoulders, terrified for her life.

"Sorry about that. He's not usually like this." the blonde admitted out of nervousness as they flew over the open ocean. But as if to oppose his statement, Plagg suddenly leaned towards the sea below.

"Oh no." Adrien groaned as they began dive bombing towards the ocean, Marinette screaming as they did. They soon hit the water, only to come back up a second after being submerged.

"Plagg, what are you doing? We need her to like us!" the boy reminded the dragon while he kept playing into the water. Soon having enough of the water after three dives, Plagg flew back into the sky, gaining more altitude than before he did before the dive bomb into the ocean. But not having his fill of fun yet, Plagg started to spin in mid flight.

"And now he's spinning." Adrien dryly remarked as they spun upward, Marinette screaming again at the sudden manoeuvre.

"Thank you for nothing, you useless reptile." the blonde sarcastically thanked before Plagg suddenly free falling towards the ocean.

"OKAY! I'M SORRY! I'm sorry." Marinette shouted as she held onto Adrien tighter, burying her head into his back to avoid looking down.

"Just get me off of this thing." the bluenette begged. At the sound of her words, Plagg decided that Marinette had enough.

Just before they were about to hit the water, Plagg extended his wings and pulled up at the last second. After he did, Plagg began to gently glide towards the sunset, while Marientte was still clinging to Adrien out of fear. Surprised at Plagg's sudden gentleness, Adrien could only watch in awe as Plagg flew up into the pink clouds above them. Deciding to look up from Adrien's shoulder, Marinette was greeted with the amazing sight of them being surrounded by golden clouds, the wind undoing her pigtails and letting her hair fly in the wind.

Unwrapping her legs from Adrien's middle and relaxing her hands on his shoulders, Marinette marvelled at the beautiful clouds all around them. They were so close to the clouds that she could put her hand above her to feel it. Enjoying the feeling of the wispy air passing through her fingers, she leaned back with both arms to touch the pink and orange clouds, feeling like it was a dream made real. Even Adrien was amazed at it. After they passed by a large cluster of the clouds, they suddenly started to spin in a circle as they went higher into the sky. Passing through another layer of the fluffy clouds, the two humans and dragon were suddenly transported into a beautiful night sky filled with millions of stars. Green, purple, and light blue wisps of light danced in the sky above them, lighting up the entire sky as they flew onward. It was so magical.

When a break in the clouds came in, they immediately saw the entire island of Miraculous below them. Marinette looked down at the village amazement, unaware of Plagg looking up at her with a smile of pride. But the girl was more occupied with the view, up to the point that she wrapped her arms around Adrien's midsection, placing her head on the crook of his neck with a smile. As soon as Adrien realised Marinette was leaning on him, he smiled, glad she's having a good time while they started to descend towards the island. Soon enough, they were low enough to fly right in front of the statues that guarded the entrance to the island. But as soon as they passed the pillars, Plagg beat his wings to gain more altitude and flew above the mountains of the island, back out towards the sea.

"Alright, I admit it. This is pretty cool." Marinette admitted as she kept looking out at the sky around them.

"It's amazing. He's amazing." the bluenette continued before she pets Plagg's neck, causing him to look up at her like a cute kitten. But there was still one thing that nagged at the back of her mind.

"So what now?" Marinette asked as they began to fly above a fog bank, causing Adrien to sigh.

"Adrien, your final exam is tomorrow. You know you're going to have to kill..." the bluenette began to say, only ro remember what she was sitting on at the moment.

"...Kill a dragon." Marinette whispered to Adrien, unaware of Plagg suddenly hearing a sound in the fog.

"Don't remind me." Adrien groaned before Plagg suddenly dive bombed to the right, towards the ocean, surprising the two teens.

"Plagg, what's happening?" the blonde asked his dragon while he levelled out when they were in the thick fog. From there, Plagg started to fly around a little frantically, causing the teens to worry.

"Whoa! What is it?" Adrien questioned Plagg, trying to find out what's going on, when suddenly a King Monkey Nightmare with a giant fish in his claws appeared right next to them.

"Get down!" The boy whispered, leaning on top of Plagg while Marinette leaned down on him, hoping to avoid the dragon's line of sight. Seeing the danger, Plagg flew to the left, only for a Multimouse Nadder to come into view and trap Plagg in between the two dragons. But as the Chat Noir Fury flew deeper into the fog, Adrien and Marinette realised that they were in the middle of an entire flock of dragons as they came into view from the fog.

"What's going on?" Marinette questioned Adrien fearfully, hoping he knew what was happening.

"I don't know." Adrien admitted, feeling a little scared at the moment too.

"Plagg, you got to get us out of here, buddy." the boy said to his dragon, only for Plagg to snarl at him instead of listening to him. Deciding to leave him to himself as much as they could, both Marinette and Adrien looked around the flock, and could see that the dragons were holding dead animals and fish in their claws.

"It looks like they're hauling in their kills." Adrien observed as he spied an elk in a King Monkey Nightmare's grip.

"What does that make us?" Marinette asked, fearing for the both of them as a Purple Viperion Zippleback glanced over at them. But before either Adrien could answer her question, or the Zippleback could make a move, the entire flock suddenly dived down towards the ocean, Plagg following their example.

"Ahh!" the bluenette exclaimed as they headed towards the ocean. But right before they hit the water, the flock and Plagg pulled up at the last second and began weaving between a large group of sea stacks. As Plagg followed the flock, they kept flying towards the end of the fog and soon saw where they were going. Right in front of them, stood a giant volcano sitting at the edge of a large island, glowing red lava dribbling down the sides of it that casted an eerie vibe to it. As the flock flew closer to the island, they were heading straight for the volcano and entered it through a large opening in the rocks.

"Whoa!" Marinette and Adrien exclaimed as Plagg flew into the crack, following the flock. As soon as he did, the tunnel they entered opened into a large cavern, lit up by the lava flowing from the centre of the volcano and casting a spooky feel to the space. All around the teens, they could see dragons perched on numerous ledges that resided on multiple stacks of rock that led into the pit in the centre of the cavern, where the flock was dumping their catches into.

"What my Dad wouldn't give to find this." Adrien muttered in scared amazement as Plagg flew with the flock, looking around the cavern at the hundreds of dragons taking residence there. Finally, Plagg broke away from the flock and flew over to one of the rock stacks. Landing on the top ledge, Plagg then walked behind the centre of the pillar to hide him and the teens so they could observe what the flock was doing.

"Oh it's satisfying to know that all of our food is being dumped down a hole." the blonde sarcastically remarked as they watched a Multimouse Nadder tossed a large mackerel into the pit.

"But they're not eating any of it." Marinette pointed out as she watched from behind Adrien's shoulder. But their watching was interrupted when they saw a Carapace Gronkle, that had been the last to arrive out of the flock, fly over to hover above the pit. A second later, the Gronkle regurgitated a small fish into the pit. Happy with its catch, the dragon began to fly away from the pit... only for a large crimson dragon head to appear out of the fog-filled pit and snatch the whole Gronkle with its mouth. At the sight of the giant dragon, the teens were left in shock.

"What is that?" Marinette managed to say in her fear, the other dragons in the cavern cowering away from the bigger dragon as it lowered its head back into the pit with a grumble. Due to the dim light of the cavern, they couldn't see what type of dragon it was, but from what they could see, it was not something to mess with. But just when Adrien and Marinette shook off their shock, the crimson dragon revealed its head again, sniffing an unfamiliar scent in the air.

"All right, buddy, we gotta get out of here..." Adrien told Plagg, accidentally alerting the giant dragon of their presence.

"NOW!" the boy exclaimed after the giant dragon spotted them. A second after Plagg complied to Adrien's wishes and flew away from their hiding spot, the crimson dragon lunged at them, missing them by a hair. The sudden commotion caused the entire flock to start swarming to get out of the cavern, heading to the volcano's exit at the top of the cavern. Not wanting the Chat Noir Fury and two humans to get away, the giant dragon stepped out of the pit in an attempt to snatch them. Thankfully for them, a Purple Viperion Zippleback got in the way and was caught instead, allowing them to fly with the flock to freedom... away from their earth shattering discovery.

"Whoa, whoa! It totally makes sense. It's like a giant beehive." Marinette reflected as Plagg arrived back in the cove, banking towards the edge of the lake.

"They're the workers and that's their queen. It controls them." the bluenette elaborated while Plagg landed, allowing her to jump out of the saddle.

"Let's find your Dad." Marinette proclaimed before she began to run to the cove's exit, sending Adrien into immediate panic.

"No! No." Adrien exclaimed, jumping out of the saddle himself so he could catch up to Marinette and stop her from going any further.

"No, not yet. They'll kill Plagg." the boy explained, hoping to get Marinette to understand why he was so hesitant to run to his dad for help.

"Marinette, we have to think this through carefully." Adrien said before he began walking back over to Plagg, much to Marinette's disbelief.

"Adrien, we just discovered the Dragon's Nest. The thing we've been after since vikings first sailed here, and you want to keep it a secret?" Marinette questioned Adrien incredulously.

"To protect your pet dragon? Are you serious?" the bluenette exclaimed, causing Adrien to turn back around to face her.

"Yes." Adrien replied. That one word allowed Marinette to realise just how important Plagg was to Adrien. And if there was any time for her to support him, it was now.

"Okay. Then what do we do?" Marinette asked, wanting to help him now that she knew his secret.

"Just give me until tomorrow. I'll figure something out." Adrien asked, not having a plan right at that moment to work with. Considering what they had just learned, Marinette could work with that.

"Okay." Marinette replied right before she jabbed his left arm.

"That's for kidnapping me." the bluenette explained, causing Adrien to look back at Plagg as he drank from the cove lake. Just after he made a 'Is she really not going to let that go' gesture at Marinette, he turned back around and was surprised when she grabbed his shirt collar and kissed him on the cheek.

"And that's for... everything else." Marinette finished, turning away to look at the ground so he would avoid seeing her blush. With that, she walked to the exit of the cove and ran out, while Adrien looked at her with shock. He was so zoned out that he only noticed Plagg next to him and staring at the same spot with what seemed like a smirk on his lips, causing Adrien to snap out of his lovesick trance and glared at his dragon.

"Oh what are you looking at?" Adrien questioned in exasperation as he looked at the Chat Noir Fury. But Plagg just kept on smirking at his rider as he walked away, making his way back to the village.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

It took Adrien a while to get home, since he decided to take the long way home to think of what to do. But when he got back to his house and walked up to his front door, he saw a large box on the doorstep, wrapped in black paper and tied with a neon green ribbon bow.

"Huh, wonder what this is. Probably for my dad." Adrien said as he picked up the box and saw a tag underneath the bow. He pulled it towards him and read it out loud.

'To Adrien, Love Marinette' he read out. As soon as he read who gave it to him, his face turned ruby red.

"A gift from Marinette?" Adrien excitedly exclaimed before he placed the box back onto the doorstep and knelt down on the steps to open the box. He gently unties the bow, and takes the paper off of the box to open it all the way. When he opened the box, his eyes widened at the contents.

Inside was a white long sleeved jacket, with short white fur inside of it, black fabric edging that lined the bottom, open front edges, collar, and cuffs of the sleeves at his wrists. The back of the jacket had a large silver copy of the Miraculous crest embroidered onto it, with a large hood at the back of the collar that was lined with black fabric along the edges. To finish it off, five coloured stripes: patterned bright yellow, yellow-tinted black, neon green, purple-tinted black, and soft purple, were embroidered onto a breast pocket at the top left front of the jacket.

"Woah, I love it!" Adrien proclaimed as he pulled out the jacket from the box and put it on. Immediately, the cold night air is blocked by the fur lined jacket, and his nose is flooded by the scent of cherry blossoms, and chocolate croissants; Marinette's signature scent. He hugged himself with a smile and looked back at the box to see a piece of folded up pink paper. He bends down, picks it up from the box, and opens it to see a message on it.

"I had a great time tonight, despite our discovery. I also noticed that you were shivering on the flight, so I finished this jacket I designed for you. Hope this will help with the cold. Say 'hi' to Plagg for me the next time you see him. Love Marinette."Adrien read out. After he finished reading, he pulls the note to his chest and looks up at the sky with a lovesick sigh.

"I love that girl so much!" Adrien squealed as he lowered his head, picked up the box at his feet, and walked back into his house, and saw his father sitting in front of the fire pit. After he closed the door, Gabriel turned away from the fire pit to face his son, and immediately noticed his new jacket.

"You're home late, Adrien." Gabriel said from his chair while Adrien walked into the house.

"I was... uh... doing some extra training... with Marinette." Adrien nervously said, piquing Gabriel's interests.

"Oh, secret crush Marinette?" Gabriel asked with amusement, much to Adrien's slight embarrassment.

"Yes." Adrien replied, trying to not get too embarrassed.

"And I assume she gave you that new jacket." Gabriel confirmed with a smirk on his lips.

"Yes." Adrien said, his cheeks getting redder.

"Well, I guess I did you a favour in letting you do dragon training. Now you have gotten Marinette's attention." Gabriel smugly remarked, much to Adrien's embarrassment.

"DAD! Okay, I'm going to bed!" Adrien shouted before he started climbing the stairs to his room. Once in his room, Adrien sighed, and headed to his bed, throwing the empty box towards his desk, and then plopping onto his bed. Looking up at the ceiling he lifted his arm to his nose and inhaled Marinette's familiar scent.

"Best day ever." Adrien sighed out as he drifted off to sleep, unaware of his father at his door, and heard what he said.

"Ah, my boy is growing up too fast." Gabriel said as he closed the door, and turned away from it to head to his own room next to Adrien's.
